The Kingdom of Lucis was a stark contrast to the snowy lands of Zedessa. From the mountains of Cleigne, the wetlands of Duscae and the deserts of Leide, there was a very small chance of snow in the area. A scant three months prior, King Regis had held a ball. Either to celebrate his son’s twentieth birthday or at his own behest, no one knew. But many people had attended from outside of Lucis, coming to either attempt to forge an alliance or get in King Regis’ good graces.
Not two weeks later, Regis started communicating with the Tsar, Emanuel. A marriage was set up between their children, to bolster an alliance between their kingdoms. It seemed that both were in agreement, and Noctis had been kept in the loop the entire time.
The Citadel would be where Noctis’ bride would stay until their wedding. Though Noctis had been living in an apartment until a month ago, he had been moved back in after a long talk with his father about the future and the marriage itself. More than anything, his bride was to feel at home and welcome here.
It was a week before his bride was due to arrive that the news got out of the arranged marriage between him and the Tsar’s daughter. The entire city of Insomnia-- nay, the entirety of Lucis-- had learned of it and were talking about the wedding that was to come. It was a well-known thing by then, with the citizens wondering what both Prince and future bride would look like on their wedding day.

And the day arrived that Noctis’ bride would arrive in Lucis. It was Ignis and Gladio who had been chosen to bring her to the Citadel and help her move in, given that they were both available for the task. Prompto had wanted to go to, but had been distracted by Noctis asking him to play King’s Knight with him.
“D’ya think she’s scared? Bein’ so far away from home?” Gladio asked as they headed for the gate separating Insomnia from the rest of the world.
“If she is, then it’s our job to make her feel welcome. Remember what the king said, this is her home now too.” Ignis responded, lifting one hand off the steering wheel to push his glasses back into place. Once he saw the Tsarevna, he slowed the car to a stop and both himself and Gladio stepped out of the car.

“Ignis and I will be taking care of the Tsarevna from here.” Gladio said, offering his identification to one of the guards with the Tsarevna. Once it was seen, he put it back. “King Regis asked us to take her to the Citadel.”

“You can leave her luggage here as well. We’ll handle it from here. Thank you for bringing her this far.” Ignis said, having mimicked Gladio’s offering of identification as well.
