I am so passed April fools cause life hard and busy but I hope we're still in a silly mood ;;v;;
Tumblr media
(very belated) April Black Butler Animo Black Arts Magazine- Ciel Dies.
I really needed to participate in this months mag for 2 reasons, 1) because I missed doing last months mag even though the prompt that I had pitched since day 1 of me joining (wild west) was finally selected... and I didn't even get to participate. so I'm bummed. and 2) because I actually also am mostly responsible for conceiving this prompt and I am proud of myself(as well as everyone else who participated hahaaa) for having an idea. so yes.
I also got to do the cover this time.

It had been a long time since Hyewon had felt so cold. With her heart raw on her sleeve, she walked without destination, shivering in her jacket and staring at her boots. When had the world started spinning without her?
“I think we should take a break.” Your voice echoed in her mind, but despite the stinging behind her eyelids, she couldn’t bring herself to cry. She just continued to walk, playing that morning back in her head over and over.
“What are you saying?”
“You know things have been weird lately, Hyewon. We both have a lot going on. Don’t make this harder than it has to be, please.”
Was this her fault? Not entirely. Just like you’d said, you had things going on in your life. But she couldn’t help but feel that she was the one who’d let the relationship fall apart. She’d been working too much, too many hours, not leaving enough time for you. She could have stopped this. Prevented it before it happened. But she didn’t.
Something wet hit her nose and she looked up, glancing around at her surroundings. Somehow, she’d ended up in the tiny park where her first kiss with you had taken place. The cold winter wind sucked the breath out of her and her feet moved on their own, moving her over to that old swing set beneath the tall, bare trees as it began to snow. White flakes floated slowly to the ground as she touched the cold metal of the swing and sat down, closing her eyes. That day was still so clear in her mind.
“I want to kiss you.” It had taken all her courage just to say those words, and she had been relieved when you laughed, reaching over to take her hand and turning your swing towards hers.
“Then kiss me, silly.” The moon and stars had been covered by the clouds and your lips were cold to the touch, but Hyewon’s pounding heart had made her forget the cold. And when she’d pulled away, she’d looked up to see the November snow falling down as her breath curled away in the wind.
“I think this is a good sign.”
You’d laughed and leaned in again, stealing another kiss and making her heart jump in her chest. “I think it is too.”
When she opened her eyes, the tears finally came, pouring over and burning her cheeks as she looked up at the cloudy sky. Her throat hurt from trying to conceal the sobs, the tears left icy tracks on her face, and the cold of the swing stung her hands, but she couldn’t stop. She couldn’t get up.
So she just sat on the swing and sobbed, letting the November snow caress her face and bring back the memories of her first snow with you.
-
It was strange, to be single again. Even though she knew you wouldn’t be there, she found herself turning to her side, missing your warmth. Her finger hovered over your name in her phone after a long day, and when she’d find something funny, she’d go to send it to you, only to remember: you weren’t hers anymore.
Her friends brought her out to bars and tried to cheer her up, but everywhere reminded her of you. The two of you had been together so long that she’d gone almost everywhere with you. Still, she forced a smile for her friends, assured them that she was okay.
Because she would be. Eventually.
-
At night, she laid alone and wondered. Had she done things differently, would she still be with you? She had too many regrets to count, and they often came back to her when she was alone in the dark, her bed cold and empty. You often appeared in her dreams, and there, just for a little while, she could be happy again.
Her alarm clock sent her back to wondering as she left her dreams behind and got up, her mind swirling with the possibilities.
You had said this was a break. Not a break-up. But she wasn’t sure she really knew the difference.
-
December was hard. Her friends knew this and kept her close, but that couldn’t stop her from remembering the times she’d spent the holiday with you. She would often stop by something in the shop, thinking that it would be a good gift for you, before remembering.
Every single one of the girls tried their best to help her, in their own ways. Eunbi and Chaeyeon were always there when she needed a good cry, while Yena and Yuri were always there to make her smile. Sakura cooked for her and played video games with her, and Minju acted even more silly than usual to make her laugh. Even Chaewon, ever cool and a little bit distant, would wrap her up in a hug if she needed it.
She still thought about you, she couldn’t help it. But they helped make the holidays a little bit more bearable.
-
January was easier, just because she could throw herself into her work. She worked so hard she felt she might die, but she couldn’t stop. If she stopped, she would think about you. And she couldn’t allow herself to do that.
-
February broke her all over again. She had thought she would be okay. She’d gotten better in January, had managed to keep her mind off of you, and had even felt happy.
Then, on Valentines Day, she walked past your favorite restaurant and looked inside the window to see you sitting there with another girl. The sight stopped her in her tracks, gluing her to the sidewalk as she watched you laugh at something the girl across from you said.
“Hyewon?” Eunbi turned around, raising her eyebrows in confusion. “What’s wrong?”
She couldn’t answer. She couldn’t even breathe as Eunbi walked over to take her hand, looking concerned. Then, you turned your head, and she couldn’t think. So she ran, pulling Eunbi along, her heart pounding painfully inside her chest. She ran and ran until Eunbi grabbed her shoulders and stopped her, spinning her around to face her.
“Hyewon, stop. Where are you going?”
Hyewon gasped for air, then collapsed into Eunbi’s arms, sobbing so hard it felt like her lungs might explode. The older girl wrapped her arms around her tight, patting her head and rubbing her back as she tried to calm her down.
Her voice broke as she spoke, her face buried in Eunbi’s shoulder. “I don’t know. I don’t know what to do with myself.”
“It’ll be okay,” Eunbi assured her, but Hyewon couldn’t bring herself to believe it.
You had moved on, leaving her behind. And she had no idea how to live without you.
-
March went by in a blur of crying and working. Sometimes, she looked at your social media, just to see what you were doing, before she would remind herself that she shouldn’t do that. Seeing photos of you and this girl gutted her, but she couldn’t stop looking. She wasn’t sure why. Morbid fascination, maybe?
It snowed a lot in March, and she stayed inside as much as she could, cursing the weather. The snowflakes reminded her too much of you, and she hated them for it.
-
In April, you contacted her. When she picked up her phone only to see your name on the screen, she froze. She didn’t know what to do.
-Hey, how have you been?
Half of her was still angry, raw, and upset, telling her to ignore the text, although she truly couldn’t stay angry at you. The other half of her begged her to open the message and text you back, reminding her how much she missed you.
It took her a week to reply.
-I’ve been okay. How about you?
That was a lie. But she didn’t want to admit how much you’d hurt her, not when you were now living happily. Not when you’d already moved on.
-I’ve been doing well. I was wondering if we could meet up sometime?
Now, after so many months, you wanted to talk again? About what? Her broken heart was still hurting, and she hadn’t stopped dreaming of you. She wasn’t ready for this.
-I’m busy now. But I’ll text you when I’m ready.
-Okay.
-
It wasn’t until May that she decided she was ready. At one time, the little cafe that the two of you agreed to meet up at had held a special place in her heart. Now, it just reminded her of painful memories as an awkward silence hung in the air. It had never been awkward between the two of you before, and she hated it.
“A lot of things have happened since we last talked,” you said, stirring your drink in slow circles. “I worked out a lot of things, I mean.”
“That’s good. So did I.” It wasn’t really a lie. Hyewon had picked out all the things that had caused the relationship to go awry on her part.
“You’ve been working a lot.”
“Yeah. I didn’t really have anything else to do.” She let out a laugh that she hoped didn’t sound too bitter. “So I threw myself into my work.”
“I can understand that.”
Silence hung in the air once again, and it made Hyewon want to scream. There were a thousand questions on her tongue that she wanted to ask you, things that she wanted to know, but she didn’t know if she could ask them. She didn’t know if she could keep from crying if she heard your answers.
“Has anything else changed since we last talked?” She asked instead, going a safer route. You nodded, propping up your arm and resting your chin on your palm.
“I mean, yeah. It’s been a while. I reconnected with some old friends. One friend in particular.”
She couldn’t help herself. The question came out by itself. “The girl you were with on Valentines Day?”
You startled, then looked at her with wide eyes. “How.... How do you know about that?”
“I saw you.” Hyewon tried to keep her voice steady as she looked down at her coffee. “Through the window. I just happened to look inside because I remembered it was your favorite place and I saw you there.”
“You... were the person who ran away from the window.”
Her cheeks flushed with shame. “That was me. I didn’t want you to see me.”
“Oh.” You sat back and waved your hands. “It’s not what you think it was, I promise! She’s just an old friend from high school and we met up again recently and started hanging out again.”
“Really.”
“Really! Hyewon, do you not trust me?” You sounded offended, and suddenly, Hyewon felt angry. She was the one who should be annoyed, how could she not assume things when you decided on a break so suddenly?
“How can I? Are you broke up with me, you didn’t speak to me for months!”
“I said it was a break, not a break up! And you didn’t contact me either!”
“It felt like a break up! And how could I contact you when you broke up with me and disappeared? I felt like I’d just be annoying you! Do you have any idea how much I’ve cried over these past months?” Her voice was rising, despite her desperate attempts to control it.
“I didn’t mean for that to happen, I just-.”
She couldn’t take it anymore. She stood up, shaking her head. “No, I’m sure you didn’t. But it did happen. I loved you, (Y/N). I really did. But you didn’t even try to talk things through with me, and that hurt. You just left me to wonder what the hell I did to make things go bad. I know that things were weird. I know that we were both dealing with things. But had you talked things over with me, instead of just breaking up with me, we could have worked things out.” She grabbed her bag, holding back her tears. “Now, I’m not even sure if I can trust you anymore.”
“Hyewon....”
She gave you a tight smile and waved her hand. “I changed my mind. I’m not ready, I’m sorry. Goodbye, (Y/N).” She felt your eyes on her back as she left, but you didn’t try to stop her. And she wasn’t sure if she wanted you to let her go, or if she wanted you to call out her name.
She wasn’t sure what she wanted anymore.
-
-Hey, I’m sorry. For everything. I should have listened to you and I should have talked everything over with you. I never meant to hurt you, I swear. I was lost and I didn’t think things through. And I know this apology isn’t enough. But can we start over? Because I don’t want to lose you. I love you, Hyewon. Even if I didn’t show it very well.
-I don’t want to lose you either.
-
Getting to know someone all over again was odd. Some things were the same, while other things were different. You still had the same laugh and the same smile, but now Hyewon hesitated to hold your hand like she used to whenever you burst into laughter. You still liked all the same foods, but you seemed to hesitate when eating, unlike when you had enjoyed your food in front of her before. Everything was old and new at the same time. It was like having first dates all over again, but with a lot more conversations than before.
The two of you spent many nights talking, learning how to work through problems together and promising to be less selfish and to think of each other more. It wasn’t all easy. There were arguments and the awkward tension that made Hyewon crazy, but that was all part of the growing process. And Hyewon was willing to go through it all, because she loved you.
-
Before she knew it, the summer had passed and turned into autumn, which then turned into winter. She once again learned all your little quirks, laughed against your shoulder, and held your hand without hesitation. You once again spent the night in her bed, talking about anything and everything. The two of you were together again, two instead of one.
This November, the cold wind didn’t bother her as much, her gloved hand in yours as the two of you walked through the park until you reached that small park with the swing set.
“Remember this place?” She asked, turning to you with a smile. Your cheeks were flushed from the cold as you laughed and dropped her hand to walk over to the swings.
“How could I forget? It hasn’t changed a bit since we had our first kiss here.” You patted the swing beside you. “Come sit.”
Last year, Hyewon had cried on that very swing, and her heart hurt a little as she sat down, remembering the pain of that day. But this year, you reached over and took her hand again, swinging slowly just like you had when the two of you were young and newly in love.
“Hey, (Y/N)?”
You blinked and looked back at her. “Yeah?”
“I love you.”
A grin spread over your face and you squeezed her hand. “I love you too. Where did that come from?”
Eventually, she’d tell you about crying on the swings. But right then, she just smiled and shrugged her shoulders. “I just wanted to say it.”
“You’re a sap.” You turned your swing to face hers and tugged her closer. “But I like it.”
“Can I kiss you?” She asked, echoing her sentiments from so many years before, and you laughed.
“Of course you can, silly.”
This time, your lips were warm despite the chill, and she savored the feeling of your lips against hers and the taste of the dessert the two of you had eaten during lunch earlier. In her head, she replaced the memory of crying with this memory of kissing you instead, holding you as close as she could.
When she finally pulled away, something cold hit her nose. Looking up, she watched as a light snow began to float down from the cloudy sky, her mouth falling slightly open. Beside her, you grinned, looking up at the same sky.
“This is a good sign, right? Seeing the first snow with your lover?”
She laughed and quickly wiped a stray tear from her face, so overcome with emotions that she could only joke to hold back her tears. “I think the saying is for the first snow of the year. This is just the first snow in November.”
“I still think it’s a good sign,” you said, laughing with her. “After all, the first time we kissed was under the November snow and we managed to make it this far.”
“You’re right.” She smiled and moved her swing over so that she could put her head on your shoulder, watching the snow fall. It had been a while since she felt so warm. “Let’s promise to see the first snow together next November, too.”
You leaned against her and locked your pinkie finger together with hers, whispering for only the two of you and the snow to hear. “I promise.”

Here’s your stupid horoscope made by smart AI
Tumblr media
Apparently there are still some people who believe that horoscopes are legitimate. I’d like to sell each of them a share in the Brooklyn bridge (and direct them to some of our science articles here on TNW). But now is definitely not the time to be pissing off potential readers. So I’m meeting them halfway instead.
I made OpenAI’s GPT-2 (one of the world’s most advanced AI-powered text generators) spit out horoscopes for all 12 zodiac signs. Accomplishing this was actually quite easy. I went to the Talk To Transformer website where programmer Adam King maintains an interactive version of GPT-2 and entered “What is my horoscope for” prompts for each sign.
It works like this:
youtube
GPT-2 isn’t always coherent. In the video above it’s generating nonsense and gibberish. And that’s why, when I was generating the horoscopes below, I was tempted to just keep smashing the “generate another” button until something funny, clever, or shocking came out. But, since literally anything GPT-2 spits out will be equally as accurate as any human-generated horoscope, I decided it would be a waste of everyone’s time to do that.
Instead, what you’re about to see are twelve completely unedited “horoscopes,” generated by entering the same “What is my horoscope for” prompt for each zodiac sign. The only time I pressed the “generate” button more than once was for Cancer, and that’s because it spit out some morbid stuff about disease that didn’t seem appropriate right now.
Anyway, we hope you enjoy this stupid horoscope made by smart AI.
Scorpio:
Horus (Scorpio), the lord of hell, is the number one wizard in this lesson. Does that mean he is the most powerful being in the universe? Definitely. Maybe in your life, too. But scorpio’s is the only alchemy of hope available to anyone of the twelve zodiacal signs.
Aries:
Author’s note: You’ll notice in the quote below that this is a horoscope for Pisces despite the fact I asked it for Aries. Apparently, if you’re an Aries, the AI‘s advice is to become a Pisces instead.
As the astrological sign of Pisces, you might be nervous about your relationship with your husband/wife, your feeling that your friends need attention and perhaps looking forward to the time when your self-esteem could recover a bit after a stressful week or two. This is normal, and this is fine!
As a Pisces, you are very close to others, you might feel a little restless and overwhelmed, and you are good at following people around in life. If you want to get more personal, read our article on the 13 notes of your birth chart.
Leo:
Leo is always looking for new things to be doing or have to do so it can further evolve as an individual. I feel it will be the time for a more intensive working load in the days ahead of me. I will be home-bound from March 8th. So until then I will do all my activities home based so you may not be seeing me for a few weeks.
Please do come visit, and to anyone who will be in my near future, this email is a prompt and dear request.
Yours Sincerely,
Author’s note: In the above quote, GPT-2 followed “Yours Sincerely” with a Twitter username that actually appears to belong to a real person. We purposely omitted it from this article, but thought it was noteworthy enough to mention.
Cancer:
See the sun after a period of deep darkness
Have a gift of comedy and take it out on others
Shout it from the top of your lungs
Bring forth as much pain as you think is needed
Put your faith in love and your faith in God
Treat people with kindness and don’t be rude
Shout your defiance from your rooster
Finish what you start. It’ll be easier to continue when you start
Get results with every first thing you do
Promote peace and unity wherever you can
By my hand I give life to everything, and every thing in turn gives life to me
Forget love, all that
Pisces
Due to the fact that my being a spiritual person, I have such a connection to other spiritual entities that for me the planets of the zodiac are a source of comfort for me. In the past I have a ‘relationship’ with Saturn and Venus. However I can’t justify having a relationship with other planets because they are not really in your field of vision. My life will only have meaning if the universe says my life’s work matters.
Aqours is all I can do for pisces – what does it mean to me?
I am your energy of hope! Let your touch permeate into my heart and radiates your love. I am yours and I am yours too.
Taurus
A horoscope means a glimpse into the future and depends on different factors like your birth date, the colour of the moon, the cycles of your moon, some life circumstances and your own values and temperament. Even the address on your birth certificate is a very important one.
For a person born under the sign of the Roman god Taurus, the phases of the moon are seen as more negative than for a person born under the sign of the sun, for example. Your last lunar phase, called the New Moon, is the moment that your Moon Phase indicates most strongly. (That’s why a crescent Moon will always represent the New Moon.)
What signs are associated with astrology?
Sagittarius
You are energetic and passionate about life and your deepest desires. Your powerful intuition and vitality are infectious. Feelings of worthlessness and arrogance exist within you. If you feel drained, do not hesitate to seek help. Some aspects of your horoscope are higher than others. The Ascendant means to create and nurture life. They will have a higher responsibility. Empathy, optimism, sociability, and a willingness to feel helpless are your best traits. Know yourself and your best self.
Capricorn
You value the gentle and approachable aspects of life. You are extremely intuitive, likely to feel thoughts and feelings as immediate as your breath. This part of your personality tends to express itself in relationships through the support of others. Because your ambition has always come first, you will not hesitate to let others have their way. In order to express your full potential in life, you will have to approach any situation with tact and skill.
Gemini
A major chart reveal or astrological revelation can never happen at any other time than at this age. It’s important to remember that since the age of 22, your horoscope has been preparing you for this date. If your total and life-long horoscope have released a forecast of having a boy as a partner, that could be because your high school sweetheart graduated, or if your future partner or future husband is still in high school.
Featuring so many unique qualities about you, it is the responsibility of the astrologer to bring to light these talents and talents worth experiencing!
How was your horoscope revealed?
It can be difficult for some astrologers to think.
Virgo
At this time, Scorpio is your ruler and Jupiter your friend, be they as great or as small as they may be. During the course of your life, you will have to turn and face both of them in order to remain self-sufficient. Fortunately for you, that can be done.
If the case arises that Scorpio is in conjunction with your Mercury – meaning Jupiter is in conjunction with your Sun – you should begin to look out for the influence that your Karmic tendencies hold for you. The placement of Jupiter in your sign may influence how important your personality is to you, as well as the strengths and weaknesses you have in dealing with other people.
Libra
The bright, radiant, adventurous personality of Libra is her greatest strength. Her loyalty and intimacy are palpable, and she is able to trust perfectly. Her heart is ruled by passion, but her emotions are often very tender, trying to find harmony. This allows her to know that other people matter and is the great strong master of balancing moods.
Libra’s desire to maintain balance and harmony and to be guided by the stars are very strong. A naturally good speaker and a well-spoken public speaker, Libra expresses her thought and ideas as accurately and subtly as she can. In practical terms, this means that Libra usually wants to improve the lives of others.
Aquarius
Cancer
Current position:
Starting vocation:
Potential aspiration:
Sign of passage:
Perception of negativity:
Self-actualization:
Constellation:
This is the Aquarian Age of Perseverance. You want to be a strong person, but you need to learn not to be too conscious about being a strong person.
Your greatest fantasies:
Dreams/Life goals:
They may be abstract ideas or life lessons.
Childhood personas:
Sources of inspiration:
Television, movies, books, newspapers, etc.
Consciousness’ side:
Sorry about that last one. Evidently being an Aquarius involves a lengthy acceptance process. On the bright side, at least you’re not an Aries right? They don’t even get a horoscope this week. Let us know what you think about GPT-2’s Zodiac prowess in the comments.
