thinking about the under the banner of heaven finale tomorrow (tho i will not watch until friday evening/saturday when miranda visits me) but anyway. one thing that i’m wondering about is Allen, because what we’ve seen from the show interpretation of Allen is kind of at odds with the real world person, and I feel like they could go either way with that. So basically, the real-world Allen had been given Ron’s revelation about killing Brenda and Erica but didn’t really do anything about it because he “didn’t take it seriously” but then immediately pointed the finger at Ron and Dan when the cops questioned him after the murders which....is honestly deeply messed up and I do think he bears some culpability in the murders. Now, the show version of Allen doesn’t seem to have been aware of threats made against his wife and daughter and doesn’t want to implicate his brothers, but we haven’t seen the immediate lead-up to the murders yet and the last episode ended with Ron’s first revelation. So I feel like we could either get a narrative where Allen genuinely did not know there was a threat (which I think is a lot more sympathetic than the real life Allen) or a narrative where he WAS told about this revelation, did nothing, AND didn’t identify his brothers as the probably culprits after the murder (which is MUCH worse than the actual Allen’s involvement). so idk how to feel about this in general . we’ll see what route they choose to go with.
