I have some idea that sometimes publishers have swanky parties and invite their staff, best sellers and big authors. Is this real? Or did I see this in a movie lol

Oh, it's real. Though I'd say this was more of a thing back in the OLD days, pre-Pandemic, and a couple economic crises ago. :-/

The ones I have been to (and I have been to many) are usually for a reason, they aren't just random parties. Usually it's to promote new books to a specific audience, and they are often held during a conference or something like that so that a bulk of the people they are trying to reach will be there.

So like, for example, they used to do a lot of "Pre-Publication Tours" and take booksellers out to very fancy dinners with an author (and the publicist, and sometimes the editor). Or they might do something like a breakfast or dinner at ALA (for example) where they have several authors and a bunch of librarians, and each author gets to introduce themselves and talk about the book and spend some time at each table, and all the librarians get copies and they all have a chance to chit-chat over a nice meal.

When BookExpo/BEA used to be a thing (and actually even more so before that, when it was called the ABA), publishers would throw really grand parties and invite a number of famous authors with new projects coming, and invite a bunch of booksellers, and the party would be on a rooftop or some gorgeous venue. I went to one at ABC carpet where they took over a floor of the store and there were living flower walls. I went to one at Dylan's Candy Bar one year and there was an open bar where they had candy apple martinis and I got sick off em. I went to one IN the Library of Congress -- like the FANCY part -- and one in the main library in downtown LA at night, that was pretty spectacular.

I went to one on a rooftop in LA I believe and they gave us all t-shirts and we could go around to different tables and get autographs on the shirt from the authors, and Judy Blume was one of the authors, and I had a literal meltdown and cried on her and Libba Bray had to hold me up. (Judy Blume was very nice about it - she gave me a Kleenex and said, "don't worry, women your age always cry when they meet me" -- which was both reassuring and made me feel v basic lol).

I went to one on this like -- observation-area in a swank hotel in downtown NYC, and I was chit-chatting with John Green, and I had to go to the bathroom, so I went to the bathroom, and THE BATHROOM WAS ENTIRELY MADE OF GLASS INCLUDING THE FLOOR -- so to get to the toilet and pee you had to be like *hovering over empty space and anyone could see you???? I absolutely was not OK AT ALL and I think I just had to like, LEAVE to go to a real place with a real bathroom.

I still remember the ones my boss told me about -- one at PRINCE'S HOUSE where PRINCE PERFORMED, and one at the Playboy Mansion! -- I was not invited to those! *cryface*

Buhay Marketing!

Masarap na mahirap. Walang bundle clock. Walang time in walang time out. Pasok ka lang kung gusto mo, pero wala ka naman income. Mas masipag mas madatong. Marketing nga eh.

Nasa life insurance ako almost 10 years na din. Sa mga naunang mga taon sobrang active ko, super aggressive pa kumbaga. Dun din yung nakaka qualify ka sa mga trips. Anjan ang Bora, Cebu, Subic at wag ka Me pa HK pa. Me mga awards na din ang lola, freebies, gift checks at ang gustong gusto ko eh yung every quarter me bonus. Pero wait! Syempre kelangan mong i earn yun.

Fast forward na tayo, so ngayon hindi na ako masyado active. Pa submit submit na lang ng ilang cases. Unlike before na umabot ako ng 20 cases submitted in a month. Wow! Sa totoo kasi mahirap bentahan ang mga Pinoy ng insurance, kesyo mamatay na daw. Pero hindi lang naman yun kung bakit ako nag lie low. Nung lumipat kasi ng company c BH ayun hindi na maxado exciting. The usual transfer din kmi. Naiwan sa previous company namin mga previous clients ko. Hindi na ako naging inspired from there on.

Next. Nag real estate din tayo, nag car agent. Swerte me mga napasok na din. Masarap pala yung ganung work. Malaki laki sweldo, pero gaya ng sabi ko din. EFFORT is the key. Quarantine (Part 94)

Day 658 ng quarantine.

Sa mga sandali na tinatype ko ‘to, mayroong nang naitalang 2,851,931 na kaso ng COVID-19 sa Pilipinas, kung saan 4,600 ang mga bagong naitalang kaso. 51,570 na ang mga namatay at 2,778,943 ang mga gumaling.

Isang linggo lang ang nakalipas, talamak na uli ang kaso ng COVID-19. Bukod sa pinakamalaking balita ang pagkalat uli ng COVID na malamang ay dahil ng Omicron variant, naging laman din ng balita si Gwyneth Chua. Sya lang naman yung nahuling babae na galing na US na lumabag sa quarantine protocol at nakipag-party pa. Ayun, nagkalat pa na ng beerus. Syempre, may kasalanan din yung hotel sa Makati kung saan dapat namalagi si ate gurl.

Bagong taon na rin pala. Medyo mas madrama siguro tong post na to, kaso tinatamad at medyo bad trip pa rin ako ngayon kasi unang inannounce kanina sa trabaho namin na dahil nga kalat na uli ang COVID, balik muna kami sa total WFH setup. Sakit na daw niya kasi ung pag A-AWOL. Nagulantang ako syempre; hindi ko alam kung ano ang gagawin ko sakanya para maka tulong.

Hindi ko naman ininda ung pagiging basted ko sakanya, instead ginamit ko pa nga yon para maka panligaw sa ibang babae nung mga oras na yon pero iba talaga tama ko kay Strega e. Di nakakasawa kasi alak is life! Yes we abuse our body not only on Physical Stress, we're both emotionally sressed too. At etong pag iinom ang nakita namin parehas na solution sa bagay bagay na to; ung meron kaming kinakaharap na ganito. I remember sa Galas/Balic-Balic pa kami tumutuloy kasi ung Condo sa Cubao ni Rico e tinutuluyan na ng erpats niya. Off-Limits kumbaga kaya ayon mas naging malala kami sa yosi at alak kasi non stop na katulad din ng mga fraud na ginagawa ko noon. Alam na alam ni Strega lahat ng kagaguhan ko sa buhay; ung mga fraud na ginagawa ko.

Sarap buhay ♥️

3 days 2 nights in La Union. Kasama si boss, kasama asawa ni boss. Me mga transactions kelangan e settle sa area. Pero hindi naman kasi namin inaakala na magtatagal kami hanggang ngayong araw. So enjoy check ins kami, swerte me sarili ako room.

First to second day kasama ko si boss, comes second night hindi na. Aba aba, samantalahin wala. Swimming swimming lang sa hotel. Pero syempre work mode tayo. After mag breakfast (buffet pa talaga) swimming ng ilang oras then gora na sa work.

4 p.m tapos ang meeting ayun gala na ulit. Konting kain, konting shopping na din. Nauna na kasi umalis c boss nung second night namin so eto commute ang peg ko mamaya. Nga pala. Happy weekends guys.
