hi yani!!
okay so i asked dre but in asking you too sorry if thats weird. having a conversation and was hoping for some clarity about lestat’s turning. there was this post a while back that i vaguely remember that talks about how his mind basically snaps and he doesnt even realize it and just kinda keeps it pushing. and i was wondering if that’s a take you could elaborate on. or if you have a take about that scene at all in the books. it would be helpful if so thank you. like i said in my ask with dre anyone is welcome to jump in im just curious about that take.
hope you’re doing well!
hello mwe<3 good to hear from u i hope ur doing well today too. i was busy this morning im sorry if the discussion u was having passed. already lol but basically what happened in the books is that lestat was kidnapped from nicki’s bedside by this vampire magnus & locks him in a cellar, where magnus fattens lestat up with wine and broth only to come and kee drinking off him. when lestat is on the verge of death (literal in the sense of death and metaphorical in the sense of the traumatic rammifications of such torture), only then does magnus turns him, crowns lestat his heir by giving him his property, and kills himself right infront of him. id argue lestat is driven mad like twice over. once when magnus drinks from lestat & reads his life story, and once more when we’re brought to lestat in the cellar before/during his turning. something to note of too is how magnus never calls lestat by his name, despite reading his mind and knowing his whole life story, he only calls lestat ‘lelio’ and/or ‘my wolfkiller’, making it clear he covets lestat’s youth, his strength— as magnus was a much older man when he was turned as a vampire.

driven to madness once more, the overwhelming feeling of man being made monster now lestat craves magnus if anything as a mentor, as some sort of guidance in this undead existence that was forced upon him, but magnus ever so cruelly denies lestat this in his last act of crowning lestat as his heir and dying. scatter my ashes so i may never return, lelio my wolfkiller. lestat in later works sort of blames himself for ‘seducing’ magnus, but in tvl lestat rly immerses himself into how he felt at the time of being tortured n turned here. lestat mourns the mortal life he couldve had. he wouldve been able to find some sense of happiness in his once mortal existence, and it takes some time for him to come around to being like basically like im going to be the best at being a vampire (whatever that means). i hope this answers what u had in mind^

I don't claim to know what parts of book canon they're taking but its a clear rule from Magnus that ashes need to be scattered and we didn't see them scatter the ashes in S1. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing her back as some freaky ass Frankenstein cause it actually tickles me that she wanted eternal "youth" to become a star but ended up forever stuck as a messed up monstronsity lol. But it has no place in the plot of s2
magnus was also old as fuck& powerful enough to fly and turn lestat. antoinette was a weak, young vampire with none of these powers, who was stabbed + burned in the incinerator with a bunch of other bodies, linens, and god knows what. do people not know how weak and how lacking in basis assumptions sound like based off one instagram post and rumors of her on set? thats my main point. maybe rj let her hang out on set to troll idk
