weird thing i noticed abt writing music of the moment #73923 is that the style of language i use to tell the story is a lot more similar to my speech style/patterns than most of my other works, and it is glaringly apparent with all the blue underlines on the doc that i refuse to change because no we don’t need an article in front of that noun no one says it like that fuck you
#i also tend to write with like these assumptions that the readers are gonna figure stuff out when i know they won't figure out what i mean#but it feels weird to write it otherwise bc in the characters' minds there's no need to exposition anything#yes they call the drum majors by their titles a lot even when they're not around but like we did that too when we weren't close to them#anyway like one of the weird things about this is that i guess i always knew i have english that is slightly off from white america#just bc of the way immigrant communities and english kinda work#and that there's a very big difference between how i write a narrative vs how i write when telling a story if that makes sense#but i guess i just hadn't realized and rereading my writing it feels more unprofessional this way#and that's probably what made me feel like i was becoming a much better writer through the years#bc i learned to write in a way that was like. releasing a narrative. rather than simply telling a story#'telling a story' feels more casual more for-fun more able to have inside jokes#and go into niche details bc that's what's relevant to the audience and they already have the prepackaged backstory#necessary to just Understand what's going on who we're talking about and everyone's histories that affect their decisions in the story#but like first of all this is a crazy au world so basically even tho it's fic character histories are obviously different#and band itself is a pretty niche school subculture that you kinda just. need to be in to fully understand#and even then it's different between bands; there are some universal band experiences but the best parts aren't#it's like the difference between telling the fake dating shebang to an internet audience who doesn't know anyone personally#telling it to someone at school who knew everyone involved and have their own interps of the ppl involved but were unaware of this happening#including the Huge Backstory that entirely explained why i wanted/needed a fake bf in the first place#and telling it to my middle school best friend who was there for like all the Huge Backstory that made me want/need a fake bf#but moved to a different state for high school and therefore needed to know most of the other characters involved#like these are three VERY different audiences that i've told the SAME story to for the most part#and i have to CHANGE how the story is told in order to suit the audience each time; some have emotional shorthand n some don't#花話
