UCI president David Lappartient told BBC Sport he will “continue to push” ASO though.

Deignan skipped the Giro Rosa, which was a particularly hilly and tough course this year.
Could that benefit the former world champion here or will the other favourites have better form after putting more racing miles in?

Post update
Britain’s Lizzie Deignan, speaking to ITV4:“I’ve not raced since winning the Women’s Tour last month because I’ve been at altitude so I’m curious to see how I’ll go.
“Van Vleuten might struggle because these are power climbs. It should suit us as a team.
“Vos is in top shape and is the one to beat – or the one to drop if we can.
“I’m really happy with where I am but I’ve never come down from an altitude block and straight into a race – I’ve heard mixed things but it’s all about suffering and i’m pretty good at that.
“I’m not race sharp but working towards the world championships, I’m really happy with where I am.”

70km to go
A few counter and surges off the front of the peloton have brought the gap down.
The 10 riders in the break lead by 1:05 with 70km to go.

Post update
There is an absolutely savage ramp up towards the finish line in Pau.
I don’t think the pure sprinters stand much chance in that finale.
Marianne Vos might well enjoy it though.

The contenders
Annemiek van Vleuten comes into the race having just defended her title at the Giro Rosa, the women’s sole Grand Tour, which ended on Sunday.
Van Vleuten is also chasing a third straight La Course title and won an amazing race last year, overhauling compatriot Anna van der Breggen in the final 25m on a brutal rise to the line.
World champion Van der Breggen is another former La Course winner in the field, as is Marianne Vos, who is in tremendous form after winning four stages at the Giro Rosa.
Lizzie Deignan is trying to use this race to build her form towards the world championships in Yorkshire later this year.
Britons Alice and Hannah Barnes could compete and also look out for Katarzyna Niewiadoma, Elisa Longo Borghini, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, Chloe Hosking and Amanda Spratt.

80km to go
Alexandra Manly has dropped back, leaving 10 riders in the break: Sarah Roy (Mitchelton-Scott), Karol-Ann Canuel (Boels-Dolmans), Jeanne Korevaar (CCC-Liv), Elise Chabbey (Bigla), Nikola Noskova (Bigla), Alexis Ryan (Canyon-SRAM), Liane Lippert (Sunweb), Audrey Cordon Ragot (Trek-Segafredo), Evita Muzic (FDJ), Sofie de Vuyst (Parkhotel Valkenburg).
They lead the chasing peloton by 1:15.

Route profile
The women’s peloton are tackling 121km in total – made up of five laps of the 27.2km individual time trial course that will be used for stage 13 of the Tour de France later on.
Each lap includes the climbs of the Cote d’Esquillot and the Cote de Gelos, while there is also a sharp drag up to the finish in Pau.
Racing got under way around 45 minutes ago and a breakaway of 11 riders have got up the road.

Welcome
Hello! Welcome to live coverage of La Course 2019, the sixth edition of the women’s one-day race run by Tour de France organisers ASO.
Another new route this year after the mountainous course last year.
This is over more rolling terrain and should favour the riders who excel on short, sharp climbs.

50cm:De Panne: Superb piloting by Brennauer enables Wild victory
Kirsten Wild (WNT-Rotor) won the Driedaagse Brugge-De Panne one-day race on Thursday after a thrilling finale culminating a mass sprint with nearly all the top sprinters. Cyclingnews takes a closer look at the final kilometres as we analyse the sprints of Wild and the other podium finishers, Lorena Wiebes (Parkhotel Valkenburg) and Lotte Kopecky (Lotto Soudal Ladies).
Trek-Segafredo, Boels Dolmans, and Mitchelton-Scott all took charge of affairs from 6km to go. About 2,000 metres from the finish, Kopecky had been brought close to the front by her teammates, and Wiebes had found the wheel of Marianne Vos (CCC-Liv) to sit on.
At this point, Wild was still far back in the peloton, sitting around position 40. Her teammate Lisa Brennauer was a bit further ahead in position 30 and started to move up about 1.5km from the finish. Wild took the cue and pushed hard to get onto Brennauer's wheel; the Dutch sprinter was then expertly piloted to the very front.

Under the red kite with 1,000 metres to go, Brennauer, with Wild in her wheel, had taken the lead. From here on, Wild used her race craft to stay near the front but out of the wind. Team Sunweb took over just before the right-hand turn across the tram tracks with 700 metres to go.
Christine Majerus (Boels Dolmans) came to the front to lead out her teammate Amalie Dideriksen 450 metres from the line. When the Danish champion launched her sprint with 300 metres to go, there were two lines of sprinters next to each other, close to the barriers on the right side of the road: Dideriksen with Kopecky, Susanne Andersen (Team Sunweb), Marta Bastianelli (Team Virtu Cycling), and Chloe Hosking (Alé Cipollini) behind her, and Lepistö followed by Wild, Wiebes, and Vos.
Lepistö went for Dideriksen's slipstream, and a gap opened on the left side that Wild and Wiebes took full advantage of to launch their sprints 250 metres from the line. But while Wiebes still had to go around Majerus, Wild had a free road to the finish ahead of her.

This article first appeared on Cyclingnews.
British bike brand Factor Bikes has announced partnerships with the Pro Continental Roompot-Charles men's team and the Parkhotel Valkenburg UCI women's team for the 2019 season.

Factor's two-year contract with AG2R La Mondiale came to a close at the end of the 2018 season — after an initial foray into professional cycling with the now-defunct ONE Pro Cycling team. The 2019 Factor Bikes partnerships also extend to two professional triathletes and the Panaracer/Factor p/b Bicycle X-Change Professional Gravel Racing Team, alongside Roompot-Charles and Parkhotel Valkenburg.

In a press release, Factor Bikes announced that the Dutch Pro Continental team will be another professional squad to exclusively use disc brakes this season with the Factor O2 Disc, as well as wheels and finishing kit from Factor's component company Black Inc.
Both Roompot-Charles and Parkhotel Valkenburg look to be running Shimano drivetrains, with Roompot-Charles' marquee rider Lars Boom running a CeramicSpeed OSPW rear derailleur upgrade and an SRM Origin power meter-equipped crankset.
Roompot-Charles merged with the Veranda's Willems-Crelan during the off-season and hoped to have three-time cyclocross world champion and promising Classics rider Wout van Aert as its headline name for the 2019 road season. However, contract disputes following the merger led Van Aert to leave the team for Jumbo-Visma, so Boom will now be its main Classics contender.

50cm:Gent-Wevelgem Women confirm 24 teams
The organisers of Gent-Wevelgem have confirmed the 24 teams that will take part in this year's race, with Boels Dolmans and Mitchelton-Scott set to headline the event. Team Virtu Cycling, the new home of defending champion Marta Bastianelli, are also among the invitees.
Gent-Wevelgem is the fifth race on the UCI Women's WorldTour, which is heading into its fourth year. All of the top 15 teams, which WorldTour organisers are required to invite, will be on the start line in March, including CCC-Liv, the new Trek-Segafredo women’s team, Sunweb and Canyon-SRAM.
Boels Dolmans and Mitchelton-Scott are the top two ranked teams in the women's peloton after dominating the WorldTour competition in 2018, though both missed out on the win in last year's race. Bastianelli took the victory with the Ale Cipollini team, who will be back in March but without the race winner, who moved to Team Virtu Cycling over the winter. Jolien D'hoore finished second for Mitchelton-Scott, but the Belgian has switched to Boels Dolmans for the 2019 season.

The remaining seven of the top-15 teams that received automatic spots are WNT Rotor Pro Cycling, Valcar Cylance Cycling, Movistar, Team Tibco Silicon Valley Bank, Parkhotel Valkenburg. FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futuroscope and Bigla.
A further nine squads received invitations, including BTC City Ljubljana, Astana, Lotto Soudal, Doltcini-Van Eyck Sport, Armitalia-Basso Bikes-Vaiano, Health Mate Ladies Team, Hitech Products Birk Sport, Drops and Biehler Pro Cycling (formerly Swabo Women).
The eighth edition of Gent-Wevelgem Women will take place on March 31.
