MY FAVORITE TINTIN SIDE CHARACTERS

ARRGRGWHDHEH I'M VERY VERY PROUD OF THIS I'M NGL!!!!!!! I LOVE THE WAY I COLORED THE CHARACTERS, I LOVE THE POSES I DREW THEM IN, I MADE SOME DECENT COMPOSITION IN THIS ONE!!!! HATE THE EDITING I DID I FUCKING SUCK AT EDITING

Anyway, I'm going to ramble about these guys and you can't leave until I'm done ok? Ok.

First of all, MY BOY MY SON MY PERSONAL LITTLE DEMON, ABDULLAH!!!!!!! he is very endearing to me!!! But I really do wish we could've seen more of him!!!! He looks mischievous enough to sneak on adventures along with the marlinspike crew himself for shits and giggles!!!!! HIM AND HIS DAD'S DYNAMIC IN LAND OF BLACK GOLD IS MY FAVORITE IT MAKES ME SO GIDDY AND HAPPY. like no matter how obnoxious and annoying Abdullah's pranks can become, his dad will forever love him unconditionally. MY FAVORITE DYNAMIC. I MISS THEM SO MUCH.

A little note, even though a lot of poc representation in tintin is pretty influenced by the stereotypes of the time, and a bit of orientalism, tintin and the land of black gold is also the first time in my childhood where the words "assalamualaikum" Was muttered in any piece of animated media. It definitely wasn't perfect, but that was important to me as a Muslim child. Maybe that's why Abdullah and his dad hold a special place in my heart!

Next up we've got ARREGEHFHFHHGHJ!!!!!!! CHANG!!!!!!! MY FRIEND FROM SCHOOL WHO HELPED END A CRIME RING IN SHANGHAI!!!!!!! I adore him and his personality so much!!!! HE WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS AS A KID AND HE STILL IS TODAY WHEN I REWATCH BLUE LOTUS!!!!!!!! The way that the moment he was saved by Tintin in that flood he pledged his undying loyalty to Tintin will never not be sweet to me. HE IS SO TALENTED AND CUNNING, HE SAVED TINTIN FROM CERTAIN DOOM MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE LITTLE TIME THEY'VE SPENT TOGETHER, AND IN TINTIN IN TIBET, TINTIN SAVES HIM ONCE AGAIN (Tintin in tibet is also a very memorable and special episode for me) AND JUST-- ARGEHDBEHF I CAN CONTINUE ON AND ON ABOUT HOW CHANG SHOULDVE BEEN INCLUDED IN MORE ADVENTURES!!!!! actually Tintin has TONS OF CHARACTERS who should have been given more important roles in a lot of different stories!!!! Idk maybe that's just a wish that will never be fulfilled.... Still I can dream!

And last but DEFINITELY not least... THE MILANESE NIGHTINGALE HERSELF, BIANCA CASTAFIORE!!!!!!!!!!!! AGHHDHEHFHJDHV MY GORGEOUS MY BEAUTIFUL MY LOVE MY EVERYTHING I MISS HER SO MUCH

SHE WAS A HIGHLIGHT FOR ME!!!!!! AND SHE IS VERY UNDERRATED!!!! I love seeing how much she treasures her friends, how she's so dramatic about everything, how she has such an unapologetically loud and large presence and personality everywhere she goes, how she is genuinely passionate about her singing and her art, how she clearly knows her worth and won't settle for less from anyone.

Every time she was on screen she always made me feel very happy and warm inside, also I really like her voice!!!!!

AND HER DESIGN!!!!! ARRRGHWHFHH HER DESIGN!!!

I'm ngl, she was the hardest for me to draw. But at the end I'm quite satisfied with the results!!!!

She would be such an amazing friend. SHE'S ALWAYS BRINGING GIFTS AND BEING CONSIDERATE WITH HER FRIENDS, AND SHE WOULD NEVER HIDE JUST HOW MUCH PEOPLE MEAN TO HER

PLEEEEASEEEE CASTAFIORE I MISS YOU SO MUCH GIRLFRIEND COME BACK TO ME-

Anyway, the last picture is how I'd imagine Chang and Castafiore's first meeting would go. She as always, acts as sweet and polite and extra af as she always does, let's Chang know that Tintin's talked a lot about him! And then she would bring out some biscuits and pastries she bought as a gift for everyone, and then she and Chang would sit together while eating, and they get along really well, CHANG HAS A WICKED SENSE OF HUMOR THAT CASTAFIORE CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF, (haddock would be completely dumbfounded with how good at talking to Castafiore Chang is, and how anyone could talk to her for so long) but little did haddock know, in their conversations, Castafiore does a whole lot more listening than speaking, especially when Chang starts to tell his back story, and all the things that have happened to him and Tintin. After Chang ends his story, he looks up at her after a while of being lost in his story, and mascara is dripping down her face silently, her mouth is agape, and for a few moments couldn't say anything.

Suddenly she burst out loud, pulled Chang into a hug, and sobs after listening to the horrors this sweet kid has gone through.

In over a few hours she seems to have grown a strong attachment to this kid, she'll probably send a package filled with gifts a few months later, along with a long letter talking about what she's been up to and her wishes that Chang will succeed with anything he's currently busy with, and that he shall take care of himself well.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the small character appreciation I was able to share for some obscure/underrated characters! And that they will occupy your mind just for a little while. I love these three so much, tintin shaped me as a person, tintin made my childhood, I hope you have a great day.

To all the Chang fans, what are your thoughts on his incident in Tibet? Like how do you think it affects Chang and how does he deal with the trauma? What is his life from then on and how his relationships with the people in his life? What is his bond with Tintin and even Haddock after this?

Tintin Character Requests! Pt. 1

The series where I draw Tintin characters in funky little outfits cuz they truly are funky little characters

In the first picture, we've got toxic yaoi, well, no, the first request was these two on their own but because I love them so much and their interactions in the 2011 movie I drew them together, and wow I am actually quite proud of how it ended up looking like!!!!! (Probably one of my favorite out of this batch of sketches)

Next up, we've got AHHHHH MY SILLY MY GOOFY MY FAVORITE MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRL!!!! PROFESSOR CALCULUS!!!! I drew him in polite little vest and turtleneck combo and some patterned pants, politely waving at you! I was watching a few episodes recently and AGEHHDHDHH I FORGOT JUST HOW ENTERTAINING AND AMAZING AND ICONIC THIS MAN IS he's so silly he's a genius he has no idea what's going on most of the time <3333 we need him in the hypothetical 2011 sequel (it's coming guys trust me)

TADAAA!!!! IT'S GENERAL ALCAZAR!!! ok. As you know I've only recently started coming back to Tintin, and I'm ngl I forgot who general alcazar was. Then I watched Tintin and the picaros and pretty quickly I remembered. THIS GUY WAS SO COOL. my dumb kid brain didn't entirely grasp what was going on in that episode, BUT NOW I DO KNOW. AND WOW THIS EPISODE WAS WILD. every Tintin episode is on a spectrum of insane but this one tips closer to the more unhinged end. GENERAL ALCAZAR IS SO BADASS, HES LEADING A REVOLUTION, HE'S A MALE WIFE, HE IS A PRESIDENT NOW??? I miss the guy. ALSO I LOVE HIS DESIGN.

(Also if your wondering if every Tintin post I make I'll include a tangent of just gushing about how much I love some aspect of Tintin you better get used to it cuz I love rambling about how much I love Tintin)

here's a couple characters ik little about, ik they were the original antagonists of the secret of the unicorn but that's about it! It's the bird brothers!!!! They're in some fancy suits, judging everyone they pass, their probably grumbling about something. From their appearance they look like their never happy sjhfjdjf

And last but definitely not least, IT'S JOLYON WAGG!!!!! if only the editing was better so you could bask in his graceful and obnoxious glory. I really like his voice! I really like his wardrobe! And he is some sort of anomaly to me, hes just popping up in the most random times, and most of the time it's to be an annoying little bitch (endearing), he has a medal of honor btw! If I ever met him, I would at first be very charmed, but then realize this is an entirely one sided conversation that'll go on for hours and hours that I won't be leaving anytime soon, and when I eventually get home I'll be completely exhausted by how much social energy I was using up just trying to keep up and look like I was really really invested in whatever this man was rambling about

But anyway he's silly and whimsical so I still really like him

Some sketches for Pride and Prejudice au (in collaboration with @yacrimago), showing leisure time in Haddock's house and in Tintin's house. The differences are obvious but no home is without chaos.

In the case of Haddock, it's simpler. He spends most nights playing cards with Chester or just chatting and drinking a glass or two while Nestor is a stable companion. Mr. Haddock in public and Mr. Haddock in private aren't one and the same.

In the case of Tintin, it's louder. He has learned to do his work even with all the chaos happening around him, to the point of not giving much attention for better or worse. Every member of this family is more or less in their own world (Tintin in his reportages, Chang in his books, Calculus in his research, Castafiore in practicing singing with Zorrino who always keeps an eye on Abdullah and his pranks) except Igor who suffers from the only-character-noticing-the-mess-but-no-one-listens-to-them syndrome and he should be more like Irma.

The 20s are overestimated anyway

I have no idea what made me NEED to draw this but here are my headcanons for young adult Chang as a burnt university student in archaeology.

My idea is that after Tibet, Chang had to get over his fear of flights and he pressured himself to continue traveling by plane. On his trip to his uncle who lives in London, he decides to stay and study there. Chang was always interested in social studies and history but after that, he decides on archaeology because it combines studies and a kind of action, but most of all he wants to bring back what is considered to be lost (yay trauma).

Despite no one demanding it from him, he pushes himself too much to succeed and he is a mess of stress, has too high standards, and won't ask for help (partly it has to do with the fact he's a foreigner but that's a whole other discussion).

Nevertheless, Chang makes friends, has fun (although parties aren't his forte), and is a big (paranormal) nerd. Also, in his obliviousness, has his fan club but they never dare to approach him since he looks unapproachable.

Whenever I think of Chang I'm always thinking how his experience in Tibet would affect him and a potential fear of planes but since in canon after everything he travels a lot we can safely assume he would manage to get over his fear for his thirst for knowing more of the world.

5. What do they like to do in their free time?

In canon we have seen them many times taking walks together, reading, going to performances and cinema etc. It makes completely sense, taking into consideration their chaotic and adventurous life, that they crave peaceful and normal moments.

However, they're still Tintin and Haddock so no way they can stay still for long so I think what they enjoy is sharing new experiences together. I think they like to take their car, taking turns who's driving, and go to different places, with or without scheduling anything (one day they planned a visit to the botanical garden, another just drive without a destination in mind).

Their favourite is definitely picnics, in Marlinspike or elsewhere.

Another thing they do together is editing Tintin's articles. I think Tintin would hand Haddock his articles to give his opinion on them or add any missing detail Tintin might have forgotten to write or hadn't noticed.

11. Do they like choosing each other's outfit?

It's more like Tintin helps Haddock broaden his garderobe. They both don't intervene in each other's preferences, especially Haddock as he believes in Tintin's judgement of styling (and basically everything) more than his own, but unconsciously they choose outfits that the other would like. And since Tintin "borrows" Haddock's sweaters he leaves him no choice but to go shopping and let Tintin choose some for him (he trusts his taste anyway and Tintin wouldn't choose for him something absurd).

Basically Tintin likes to dress up Haddock too besides himself and Milou.

5. What do they like to do in their free time?

Their free time is limited so they prefer to spend it indoors mostly, playing even card games and such (they never play it without a challenge otherwise it's boring) but usually Chang reads aloud his books and Chester listens and may knit while doing so.

If it's outdoors they like to go to museums or to aquarium or a walk (if there's a river, a lake or sea even better).

11. Do they like choosing each other's outfit?

Not really (they both know how to dress themselves) but they do exchange clothes, Chang likes to wear oversized shirts and blouses and Chester sometimes may wear Chang's shoes and shocks because surprisingly they wear the same size.

If they choose outfits for the other it will be in the rare instance of sharing their culture with the other, since neither won't be able to pull it off by themselves. Chester will show him how a kilt is worn and Chang will choose the pieces of traditional Chinese clothes (in both instances both will ensure the other that "yes, this is alright" and take one hundred photos because they are excited).
