Tumgik
#stc issue 3
Reading the fleetway Sonic comic now and
I'm convinced that Tails is his special little guy??
Tumblr media
I mean, he's an asshole, no doubt, but he passes up a party (mind you, he loves being celebrated as a hero so much) to go looking for Tails
Tumblr media
He goes looking at his "favorite place" and literally dons shades and a worse attitude at learning Tails was taken
Tumblr media
He genuinely cares about him as his buddy? Sure he complains about him or insults hin fairly often, but he clearly likes having Tails around enough to want him back??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Are we gonna talk about how Tails breaks free from Robotnik's control because he can't bear to keep hurting Sonic, because he cares?
Tumblr media
This scene too reminds me so much of that scene from Fang the Hunter issue 1 where Tails called for Sonic and Sonic bid himself to be patient and not lash out because Tails is his friend. Like again, Fleetway!Sonic is an asshole, but he's holding back when it comes to Tails even a little bit
Tumblr media
There's just constant proof whenever Tails is put in danger or captured that Sonic cares about his well-being. In fact he cares so much he just kind of is just indifferent about those he puts in danger by zeroing in on saving Tails (and those he saves he doesn't necessarily save with intent to). In this issue specifically, Sonic, the animal companions with him, and an unconscious Tails get washed away in a current of water, and rather than worry about his own well-being or those of his companions, he yells at them to keep ahold of Tails in the water so he can take care of the badnik.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally I feel like this sequence speaks for itself? Although Sonic is fairly confident, he risks his life on the chance that he can steer the Death Egg off course (and we're not even factoring in whether he can escape in time), and sends Tails away in the only escape pod. He literally gambles his life on this act of saving Emerald Hill and worries first about securing Tails', even if only Tails may end up escaping.
There's also the setting? Tails crying for Sonic and calling him the bravest hedgehog he ever met, Sonic reacting like he didn't just narrowly avoid death and that Tails is just stating the obvious, the two of them floating down in the escape pod during the sunset
I don't have the picture space to show it, but there's also another part of this issue where Sonic continuously nags Tails to stay out of danger and to let him handle everything alone, and then (after falling into a trap), starts talking to himself about how glad he is that Tails wasn't around to see him make such a rookie mistake. It's easy to read as Sonic always leaving Tails behind because he doesn't think much of him or thinks he'll be in the way, but I don't think that's completely true! I get the idea that Fleetway Sonic likes having his buddy around just as much as he wants his buddy to be safe. So he brings him around everywhere he can, but he forces him to hang back during the dangerous bits. And that's not to mention how this issue showed just how much Sonic values Tails' opinion of him.
Tumblr media
And BOY does this scene get me
It's like
This is the first time Super Sonic ever appears in StC. Are we going to ignore that Fleetway!Super Sonic stops attacking and reverts back into regular Sonic because of Tails?
This is like Mecha Sonic in Archie's Mecha Madness special all over again, except Fleetway!Super Sonic is under no one's control. He stopped attacking because Tails bids him to remember them.
There's just so many little things about them in my reading so far that I almost can't believe it (and would hit the tumblr photo limit a number of times if I were to show it off)
If I had to label their relationship in StC, I'd say that, to Tails, Sonic is someone he admires greatly. He doesn't seem to be fond of Sonic's attitude (largely when it's aimed at those other than himself), and he expresses criticism as to how vain Sonic is and his eating choices, but ultimately he cares about Sonic enough to stick around with him and go on adventures from time to time. For Sonic, I think Tails is someone he secretly likes having around. He often criticizes him, and depending on his mood he'll do it whenever he gets an opening, but he's also just...bad at feelings. When Tails is in danger, he'll zero in on saving him, almost above all else, and then when he saves Tails he's going off about how he can't trust Tails to be alone, angry and annoyed. He's a jerk, but a jerk who cares more than he lets on about Tails. Tails isn't just some admirer, he's important to him, and at the same time, Tails' is someone whose opinion of him he values. Ahsjsjs and....he's also the kind of guy who would say something like "Hey, that's enough! Only I get to bully Tails!"
Is their relationship healthy? No😂 But also in StC it also comes off like...they're both choosing this. Despite everything they choose to be buddies
Idk I'm fascinated so far😂
The Sonic the asshole and his special little fox

We open this issue on a bunch of badniks tormenting a young boy called Tufftee, because like in the early Archie comics, the badniks could talk when the plot requires them to. Once they introduce a larger villain roster, there’ll be less call for them to talk Regardless, Tufftee is interesting because he’s the younger brother of a much better-known Sonic character…
Tumblr media
…Sally Acorn!
Now, I’m a big fan of Sally in general, so I’ve been looking forward to getting to this story, which I didn’t realise would turn up so quickly. She only actually appears at the beginning and end of the story, but she’s here! It’s Sally! I also find it a funny coincidence that over five years later, Sally would also be given a brother in the Archie Comics, albeit an older brother called Elias. Now, I do genuinely think that these two characters were made wholly independently of each other and their creators probably didn’t even knew the other character exists (especially since I believe this is Tufftee’s only appearance), but it’s just kind of wild that out of all the characters to randomly give a brother to, both comics chose Sally
Anyway, after Tails rudely awakens Sonic (who is less than happy about that), Sally reveals that her brother wanted to play hero like Sonic and borrowed a pair of his old power boots, which Sonic thinks could still contain a bit of his power. Sonic races off before Tails has a chance to ask what to do and then we get the usual page of Sonic racing through zones, doing action hero stuff. I don't really talk about these parts as much, but I like that they include them as a “this is Sonic doing stuff like he does in the games” thing Speaking of stuff from the games, it’s only a cameo here, but we get our first appearance of the Special Zone:
Tumblr media
Now, in StC, the Special Zone has a narrative importance that it doesn’t have in most other Sonic spin-offs. It’s treated as a place within itself and it’s also home to the Chaotix of all people, but we’ll get to that later. For now, Sonic has Tufftee to save
Tumblr media
Which he achieves easily enough. We get a few pages of Tufftee being tormented by the badniks, before Sonic comes along to defeat them and rescue him. I love that one of the critters in that panel above straight up looks like someone's pet cat
Tumblr media
Tufftee manages to save Sonic at the last minute, which reassures him in his own mind that he’s a hero, even if Sonic isn’t very enthusiastic about it. Also, I didn’t post this panel, but there was a part earlier on where we see that Tufftee couldn’t control the speed that the shoes magically granted him, as a little “there’s more to being Sonic than just going really fast”
Tumblr media
We end this issue with the siblings being reunited and Sonic bluntly taking his shoes back from Tufftee, with the warning that they only work for him. Like I said before, I don’t believe we see Tufftee again after this? I can understand why, since StC already has Tails as the younger character working hard to prove himself to his hero, so we don’t need another character basically filling that same role in the comic. Even so, I like it when Tufftee appears with Sally in StC fanwork. Y’know, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone make an AU where Sally has both her brothers, Tufftee and Elias, but idk I think it might be interesting? Sally has a lot of middle sibling traits already Also, to wrap us up, I just wanted to talk about the art here, which is a vastly different style to the first two issues. For this issue, we had Casanovas on art duty and, while I haven’t been posting about the non-Sonic stories, this more-detailed style is actually closer to the high-fantasy styles used in the other comics featured in StC at the time. It’s definitely a ‘your mileage may vary’ sort of thing, but I like it purely for the nostalgia of this era of StC. We’ll be seeing a lot more of the fantasy-setting angle in regards to Tails’s backstory at some point as well

There's a project related to my interest in Warhammer that I've wanted to do for quite some time, but I know I'll never get the chance to actually do it. At least, not properly. And it involves... I think "historical preservation" is probably the best word for it?
See, I like to occasionally sift through my collection of old "out of date" rulebooks and army codex books from earlier editions of 40k. The sort of things that have been out of print for many years. Games Workshop hasn't sold these books in 2 or 3 decades, and they've all been supplanted by the current rules. And I do this because I think it's interesting to see how the game - in both crunch and fluff - has changed since 1987.
Tumblr media
More beyond the break...
For example: the different ways the galaxy has been depicted in 40k between the different editions. In the first rulebook, when it was still called Rogue Trader, all we got was a small, almost abstract, image on the bottom of the page. The 2nd edition rulebook that came out in October 1993 (specifically, the Codex Imperialis book) had a two page spread, but it was also very abstract with a few notes, but no real detail to speak of. As far as I can tell, the first time we got a map of the galaxy with the segmentum divisions that we're all accustomed to now came from a very unexpected place: the very first Tyranid codex that came out in August 1995.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, my copy of the 2nd Edition book is a very poor quality black and white scan. Those segmentum divisions could genuinely be there, and I just can't see it. Not to mention, it's entirely possible that a map with segmentum divisions first premiered in an issue of White Dwarf first, because GW liked to do stuff like that in the old days where you'd see it in the hobby magazine long before it was "officially" released in a rulebook.
There are a lot of glaring omissions from a lot of the other files in my collection: poor scans, missing pages, corrupted files... There's a lot I still don't know, because it's impossible for me to currently confirm that the little I do know is, in fact, accurate. My collection is woefully incomplete. Plus, I don't really have much past 6th edition anyway.
And this, in essence, is my idea: try and complete the collection. Find pristine copies of all the old 40k rulebooks, army codexes, even old copies of White Dwarf, and digitize them all into a huge archive for the sake of historical preservation. Of a sort.
Basically, I want to become a Lexmechanic of the Adeptus Mechanicus, looking for Dark Age of Technology era STC's uncorrupted by the Heresy or the war with the Iron Men. Either that, or I want to become Trazyn with his Infinite Archive on Solemnace.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately, there are many problems with this plan. The first being GW's overly litigious nature. They see all this Warhammer shit as "product" first and a hobby for people to enjoy a very, VERY distant second. Doesn't matter that these books (and the magazines) are long since out of print and they don't sell them anymore, effectively making the old editions the tabletop hobby equivalent to video game abandonware... if they got wind that I was attempting a project of this nature, I just know GW would smack me in the face with a cease and desist.
Of course, the other major stumbling block here is the financial issue. And I'm not just talking about buying the books. Obviously, there's the problem of the rarer books that go for upwards of $300 or more on ebay, but there's also a volume problem. Even if you find some good deals, and you're able to find older books for $10 or $15 a pop, there's just SO MANY books, that if I were to attempt this I would be wasting several thousand dollars that I just don't have.
More importantly, there's also the machine I would need to buy in order to do this project in the first place. Because if I was going to do this, I would want to do it right, y'know? I wouldn't want to simply shove the books into my dinky little scanner-printer combo hooked up to my computer. The only way I'd get a clean scan using that method would be to physically destroy these very valuable books, and that's the last thing I'd want to do. No, I would want to do it right, and get a machine like Scribe, the book scanner used by the internet archive:
youtube
Now, obviously, I can't get access to that machine, specifically, because Scribe was custom built by the engineers at the Internet Archive. But other V-cradle book scanners that let you digitize books without destroying them do exist... and they're all REALLY expensive. A good one to produce professional quality scans is, like, $25,000.
And I know what you're thinking: why do I even care about any of this? Even if this project was not entirely out of my reach, it's ultimately pointless, right? Why would I want to preserve all these old, out-of-date, no longer relevant rulebooks for a tabletop wargame that has only existed exactly as long as I have?
Because... let's be honest, this isn't really about Warhammer. The reason I want to do this stems from a much deeper desire to simply Remember. It's amazing and terrifying in equal measure just how easily history can be erased, either deliberately or simply through neglect. All of these things in our lives that are seemingly so important to us can easily vanish from history, like sandcastles when the tide rolls in.
Hell, if you really want to know my feelings about this, just watch Jacob Geller's video on this very subject.
youtube
If I had infinite time and infinite money, and I didn't care about any kind of repercussions from GW's legal team, this project would not be beyond my reach.
But I do not have infinite time or money. And there are more things in my life that I need to be concerned with that are far more important than creating a... stupid archive.
Shame, really.

[Endgame Spoilers]
Penny definitely worried about introducing the SV squad to the rest of Team Star.
She wouldn't worry about the MC, of course. They had all already been introduced in a... less than ideal manner, but at least they were introduced. The -raidons were also introduced via the MC (and they all think they're pretty cool), so nothing worrisome there.
The main problem came up with Arven and Nemona.
They were both, for lack of a better term, model students. Arven less so, but Nemona was the current student council president. Hell, they didn't even know she was involved with Team Star, much less their leader. And Team Star probably wouldn't be excited that one of her newest friends is the student council president, especially considering Nemona replaced Giacomo.
So yeah, Penny was worried.
But, as it always seems to turn out, her friends solved the issue on their own.
Nemona somehow stumbled across Mela (maybe during art class?) and, after exchanging words Penny can only imagine, Nemona asks for a battle. Mela agrees, much to Nemona's surprise. The MC is the only person to actually agree to have battles with her anymore, outside of the Academy Ace tournaments. Mela probably agreed out of anger, having remembered that Nemona was the one who replaced Giacomo.
They battle. Arven ends up watching along with the other Team Star bosses. Giacomo tries to get them to stop. They don't. Nemona wins. Nemona pleads for Arven to make her a sandwich. He pulls out the pre-made sandwich he made once he heard she was battling someone. He then offers Mela a sandwich, and the other Team Star bosses ones as well. 3/4ths of the way through her sandwich, Nemona remembers that Mela and the others were the Team Star bosses and then immediately challenges all of them to a battle because of the STC's. The cycle begins anew.

HAPPY PRIDE FROM THE IDW SONIC SHOWDOWN! Made it just in time before pride finishes here in the UK, but pride lasts all year around anyway. However you celebrate and whatever flags you use to represent yourselves, I hope you have a good one Here's a little doodle featuring characters from IDW and a few other Sonic comics who have some degree of queer to them, either in the comics, word of god or popular headcanons. I wanted to include more (shout out to Mighty's gay dad and his dinosaur bf from StC!), but ran out of time and space A little more info about each character, in case anyone's curious:
From top left: Tekno the Canary - From Fleetway Sonic the Comic, a character widely embraced by the queer community. In a conclusion to StC written by series writer Nigel Kitching and released on StC:Online, Tekno is revealed to be in a relationship and have a child with Amy Rose. As of this year, Tekno's creator Lew Stringer gave his blessing for fans to think of her as non-binary, even if he himself wrote her as female - leading some fans to embrace Tekno as she/they Gold the Tenrec - From the Archie Sonic Comics, Gold has been stated by creator Evan Stanley to be attracted to women, although Stanley wasn't sure if Gold was strictly bi or gay, which is why I opted to give her the rainbow flag here Tangle & Whisper - As close as we can possibly get to being a couple without officially being a couple. Hopefully one day! I was actually going to use the rainbow flag for them as well, but as of this month's issue, the duo appeared with a lesbian patterned sky in the background, so they got the lesbian flag Dr. Starline - Headcanoned by some to be a transman because his spurs (which are naturally occurring in male platypuses) are artificial. It's also generally accepted (I think??) that his idolising of Eggman may be romantic. I did a poll for which flag to give him and the gay flag won, so he got that one Nite & Don - Our married bird guys! Good for them! Again, I gave them the rainbow pride flag because it hasn't been stated (that I know) if they're gay, bi, pan or otherwise, but they're happy and together either way Sally Acorn (with tiny Nicole!) - My childhood fave from the Archie Comics. This chipmunk is bisexual and there is nothing you can do about it Lanolin the Sheep - Many of us are optimistic that Lanolin might quietly be the trans rep we've been hoping for from Sonic, as she's a girl sheep with horns Cheese the Chao - As chao are non-binary, I included Cheese to represent them, because Cheese is cool Sonic the Hedgehog - A touchstone to many in the community. I included the asexual, aromantic and trans flags in his speed trail, as Sonic won the t-boy swag tournament on tumblr and Sonic/no one was voted the best Sonic ship on tumblr. As a trans aroace person myself, Sonic's lack of interest in romance and conformity was always inspirational to me growing up. The rainbow facepaint is because I'm sure that he's as important to other members of the community in their identities as well As always, these are my readings and takes on these characters that may not align with your own or be canon in anyway. But I hope that you can find joy and peace in pride as I do regardless :3

Who Did What for Sonic the Hedgehog's 900th Adventure
So the 900th Adventure was basically this years Annual in spirit, but instead of multiple shorter stories, it told one big story, but with the number of writers and art teams that you would get in a multi-story annual anyways. Sure you could easily read the credits, but it's more fun this way. Obviously spoilers ahead so everything past part 1 is is gonna be under a Read More
Part 1 (pages 1-6): Set-up with Tails
Tumblr media
Writer: Ian Flynn (the original main writer on IDW Sonic and post-Metal Virus continues to be one of the main writers, including being the main writer of IDW's Classic Sonic specials. Been with the franchise since becoming a writer for the Archie comics back in '06 and served as the writer for Sonic Frontiers)
Artist: Adam Bryce Thomas (one of the main IDW Sonic artists. been around since the latter half of Archie's reboot)
Colors: Valentina Pinto (initially a secondary colorist whose biggest credit was doing the Imposter Syndrome miniseries, recently seems to have graduated to being one of the main colorists this year)
Part 2 (pages 7-12): Amy and the Orca
Tumblr media
Writer/Artist: Evan Stanley (the other main writer of IDW Sonic post-Metal Virus as well as one of the main artists, been around since late in Archie's pre-reboot era)
Colors: Gigi Dutreix (regular cover artist and occasional inker and has even written a few stories; co-authoring Victory Garden from the 2019 Annual and its follow up Future Growth, which they also colored, and solo-writing The Catalyst from 2020's Annual)
Part 3 (pages 13-18): Knuckles and Metal Sonic
Tumblr media
Writer: Nigel Kitching (one of the main writers of the old UK Sonic the Comic published by Fleetway Editions back in the 90s)
Artist: Mauro Fonseca (regular artist, major credits so far include Sonic Learns to Drive from the 30th Anniversary Special, co-designing Surge & Kit, doing the A-covers for the Imposter Syndrome miniseries, and doing a bunch of stuff in the concurrent and upcoming main book issues. Also relevantly used to be a regular contributor to the Sonic the Comic-Online fan continuation)
Inks: Rik Mack (recent regular inker, being the main inker on Mauro's more recent interior art for the comic as well as inking other artists, most notably on Tails' 30th Anniversary Special. Recently did some coloring on the back-half of issue 61 as well. Also another former StC-O regular)
Colors: Reggie Graham (one of the main colorists on IDW Sonic post-Metal Virus, after having been a regular on covers beforehand, as well as being another former StC-O regular)
Part 4 (pages 19-24): Eggman and his Mech
Tumblr media
Writer: Daniel Barnes (writer of Weapons from the 2022 Annual and the Scrapnik Island miniseries)
Artist/Colors: Min Ho Kim (fairly recent addition of the IDW Sonic crew, being a regular cover artist since Scrapnik #1. Also the character artist on The Murder of Sonic)
Color Assistance: Evan Maly
Part 5 (pages 25-30): Blaze and Cream
Tumblr media
Writer/Artist: Aaron Hammerstrom (regular artist, most prominently being the main artist for IDW's Classic Sonic stuff. Also previously wrote/drew the 2022 Annual story Rough Patch)
Inks: Matt Froese (regular inker, mainly works on Aaron's art. Most notable non-Aaron credits include the two Yardley-drawn issues of Zeti Hunt and the first and last parts of Trial by Fire)
Colors: Nathalie Fourdraine (The 1:10 Retailer Incentive variant cover artist for every issue the main book as well as semi-regularly doing covers for side books. Served as the colorist for the Classic Sonic stories Dr. Eggman's Brithday and Amy's New Hobby, as well as the colors and A covers for the Scrapnik Island miniseries)
Part 6 (pages 31-36): Babylon Rogues & Shadow/Rouge
Tumblr media
Writer: Caleb Goellner (writer of the Team Sonic Racing one-shot, the 2019 Annual story Jet Set Tornado, and the 2020 Annual story Reflections)
Artist: Abby Bulmer (regular cover artist, as well as artist of the 2020 Annual story The Catalyst and the 2022 Annual story Hero Camp. Notably way back in the day was the artist of the very first StC-O story, and her time on 2000 AD often involved her serving as a colorist for Richard Elson, one of the main StC artists.)
Colors: Heather Breckel (IDW MLP's main colorist, who's been a recurring secondary colorist throughout IDW Sonic's run, often filling in for other colorists)
Part 7 (pages 37-40): The Warp Topaz Cave
Tumblr media
Same team (Flynn/Thomas/Pinto) as part 1

900th Adventure notes (not much about Ian and Evan!)
-Nigel Kitching, from Sonic the Comic, interestingly returns. His writing is more dramatic at first, but it was all a ploy to distract Metal and ease off the effects of the Topaz
Tumblr media
His mannerisms are a little snappier, which given StC makes sense, same for brief descriptions cuz he British. Sadly Knuckles didn't do anything, but I like Sonic's characterization. He's cheeky, but not obnoxiously dissing like Flynn's, and his ploy exposes a good context intelligence unlike most of IDW
The art's weird. Apparently both Fonseca and Rik Mack worked on it, and while I see Fonseca's influence, it deviates from his still at bits. Not bad, though Knux's anger seemsmore exaggerated than what the writer intended
-Daniel Barnes has Sonic a bit more mouthy to Eggman/bots specifically. I like the idea that Eggman's testing out mechas in remote locations. If they fail, he won't be penalized. His mecha also is actually new, about time! Oddly, the city seems to be based on OVA...
Tumblr media
Sonic noticeably isn't too bothered by the bots, and his priority of the Topaz over Eggman is seen. Only fault I can think of is fans misreading this as him not taking Eggman seriously out of context (note this further shows that Sonic can deal with Eggman not existing unlike Boom)
Art by Min Ho Kim (Dee Gee Min) once again is very detailed both drawing and rendering. .
-Aaron Hammerstrom. So the first thing I noticed, Cream!
Tumblr media
She's been weirdly absent before this for Blaze use, you know, Blaze's first friend. That said, don't like the >told me I shouldn't help cuz dangerous. Feels counter to both games and that Annual, but this is IDW so bleh
Despite Rush refs, noticed Zero Gravity here. Also the first Aaron draw Sonic from the front
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also not a fond of the "Blaze be solo" retread. Brief, but still bleh
Tumblr media
Shame, I love Aaron's art, especially with Foundraine coloring. Sonic's characterization is also better than Ian's, so double shame Cream got the short end of things initially, and Blaze too
Caleb
Tumblr media
first, yikes. No offense to Abby Bulmer, but her art...isn't too good for chars and color. First I've seen their name though, for a 900th adventure issue special that's...odd. Wonder if this was done last minute...
That said, BG and perspectives are nice, and action/flow is good
As for writing, I like how Caleb references this even art BG wise (issue 15)
Tumblr media
The scuffle with the Rogues is more comedic (also hey, Storm actually has a say here unlike Summer special), though I like this note
Tumblr media
Of Rouge actually wanting to save the world, with treasure being secondary. Too often fans and Ian flanderize the treasure love
Shadow also is mostly decent, though I hated this. This is obnoxiously egotistic
Tumblr media
In tune with Rivals though otherwise; He doesn't hate Sonic, but will not be afraid to beat him for the greater good
He also accepts Sonic making an option 3 (very much Sonic to say fuck da limits), and beats the Rogues from attempting to chase after they insult him. A little juvenile at bits, but "muh mandates" are further proven to be horseshit
So the end is Ian, and I won't talk much cuz it's basically Sonic putting the Topaz in its original spot, but this
Tumblr media
Kinda cute in a "muh senpai" kind of way. Now if only I can forget how much Starline quickly soured
So overall, interesting filler, worst of Flynn didn't bog it down. Now here's the actual problem
It's filler
For a hyped 900th Adventure special, the fact it boiled down to "Sonic met friends and scuffled very briefly while running to an end" is...kinda nothing. There are other issues
-Eggman is here! So is this after or before IDW 57-60 arc?
-Richard Elton for cover made me think he was gonna do inner art too. Sadly no
-Same for Yardley
-IDW Sonic's continued tradition of lack of page numbers
-Knux again did nothing
-Rip Amy
Though a pro
-Credits are actually specified
-No OCs!
-ABT despite ehhh art for once isn't having chars weirdly talk when they shouldn't (the the yeah last page being closed mouth is hmm...). Actions are easier to read too!
It's overall ok as an anniversary filler story, but sadly is hyped to be much more

Olkiluoto 3 deviated from the minimum crew size specified for the plant in June, according to the plant's operator Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) said on Friday.
The incident occurred on 20 June. At that time, no replacement could be found in time for the night shift.
The minimum crew size for the operating shift is 10 people. According to Johanna Aho, Communications Manager at TVO, one person left work for personal reasons, which meant that only nine people were on duty.
A substitute later arrived to complete the minimum staffing.
The short staffing occurred for just under two hours until the replacement was found. The minimum manning of the control room is specified in the Safety Technical Terms and Conditions (STC).
TVO reported that it initiated measures to prevent a similar incident immediately after the event.
According to TVO, the incident had no immediate impact on nuclear safety. The severity of the incident is classified as category one according to the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES). The scale goes one to seven starting at anomalies and ending at major accidents.
Although the basic category of the incident is considered zero on the INES scale, TVO decided to increase it to one due to factors related to the safety culture. This classifies the short staffed situation as an anomaly on the INES scale
Deviation from the minimum crew level could reduce the ability of the control room to act, particularly in the event of an incident at the plant.
TVO has submitted the relevant incident report to the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) for approval on 3 August. STUK will examine the incident report submitted by TVO and issue its opinion on it in due course.

So, after stripping them twice, ive finally painted the warhammer minis i ever got to a standard im happy with. i got these bad boys in the First Strike starter set back in feb of 2020. well. thats when i ordered them at least. they actually showed up oct, u kno, cos of the whole pandemic thing that happened. truthfully Warhammer 40k Build+Paint Space Marine Heavy Assault set arrived first (i ordered it from a different vendor) arrived first, but thats old as balls. like, the terminators are still on 25mm bases and the dreadnought had a multimelta, and i ordered it after First Strike, so pbtpbtpbt! Any lore underthe cut as usual
In their never ending quest to get STC fragments and archeotech into the hands of those who rightfully deserve it, the Expeditionary Fleets of the Strike Hawks will sometimes need to... reappropriate it from their allies, most commonly the Adeptus Mechanicus. To this end, they will usually employ a ground team of no more than 3 marines, such as Nagetier Squad. In most cases, the Strike Hawks will be out of system before their quarry is even aware that they have been robbed. In other cases... several Expeditionary Forces have been declared heretic and excommunicatum by the ecclesiarchy, heretek by several forgeworlds, and even had bounties placed upon them by especially angry planetary governors and rogue traders. through a miracle of the Emperor, their native chapter has avoided the worst of the consequences, simply finding that they are not welcomes on some planets. The 9th Expeditionary Force avoids this issue altogether by crossing into the Imperium Nihilus, where the chaotic nature of the area allows for a reduced level of scrutiny.

Sonic the Comic Liveblog: Issue 51
Tumblr media
Now there’s a famous outfit. This white T-shirt/green skirt combo is so iconic that even a lot of Sonic fans who’ve never read StC recognise it
Tumblr media
Hasn’t Sonic gone up against the Death Egg before in StC? This isn’t exactly a new problem for him. Although I suppose Robotnik has probably upgraded it.
Tumblr media
When you’re eating sour candy and the flavour really starts to hit
Tumblr media
This is so stupid looking
Tumblr media
I mean, Knuckles gliding is barely, believable, but being able to hold Sonic’s weight too is a whole other thing
Tumblr media
Sonic is probably meant to be spinning but this panel really make s it look like he yeeted himself into a glass window face-first
Tumblr media
Amazing onomatopoeia
Tumblr media
IS ANGEL ISLAND A FUCKING AIRSHIP???
Tumblr media
Going from that heck of a revelation and returning to Tails, if you’re still playing the ‘I wish Sonic were here’ game, take a sip
Tumblr media
Yeah buddy, don’t think was a very good material choice for your new body when you produce heat.
Tumblr media
Vroom vroom
Tumblr media
Tails, it’s an established character trait of yours that you’re too soft with correcting people but I think the bad guy not actually being dead is a pretty dang important bit of info to not give.
Tumblr media
Onto another story. I’ve noticed that in recent issues we’ve been getting 3 Sonic-related stories and 1 non-Sonic story. Seems like an indication that aside from the articles, StC is becoming less of a general Sega comic
Tumblr media
Gremlin spotted
Tumblr media
I know Porker has a bit of a generic cartoon pig design, hell, I even joked once that he resembled the mascot of a local ice lolly mascot. But like, this is just Porky Pig from Looney Tunes wearing a leather jacket
Tumblr media
Tonic huh? Manic has more swag.
Although speaking of Underground, this set-up is pretty similar to the SU episode Three Hedgehogs and a Baby, albeit the robot (assuming that’s what Tonic is) is a teenager rather than a baby
Tumblr media
“Born at a very young age”, isn’t everyone?
Tumblr media
Oh shit, it’s her again! Didn’t expect that, was totally expecting Tonic to be a robot. Isn’t this like the second time she’s disguised herself as a border-line copy of Sonic with a rhyming name?
Also, just because this isn’t a Tails focused story doesn’t mean we aren’t still playing that drinking game. Take another sip.

Mass loaded vinyl home depot
Tumblr media
#Mass loaded vinyl home depot driver
It's just like closing a door, you get very little sound loss from room to room until the door is fully closed. Anywhere you leave a gap greatly reduces it's effectiveness. Overlap and glue the seams so you dont' have any gaps. You put a decoupling layer below it, some sort of closed cell foam or padding. It's a limp mass barrier, so making it overly rigid is a bad thing. When it comes to the wheel wells or other areas where I may have curves, I use the "good" stuff.Īs far as application, you don't want to glue it down to the floor. For doing large flat areas, the cost savings, it's a no brainer for me. I used the home depot stuff in my last car and got great results. Enough to hear rolling down a highway, hard to say and with the cost savings, you can do 2 layers of the cheap stuff and have even more sound transmission loss. The main issue with the home depot stuff is that it does NOT bend nearly as well as true MLV, which isnt' super flexible to begin with.Īlso regular MLV will be 1lb/sq ft, so it'll be block sound a bit better. 75lbs/sq ft it is still dense enough to work well as a sound blocker and doesnt' smell. HD is about $1 sqft and Amazon is about $3 sqft comparing similar sized packages (the 40sqft roll on Amazon for $120)Ĭlick to expand. The home depot stuff is not "true" MLV. I could double the HD stuff and it would be 30% thicker than the Amazon stuff but still cost less by a margin of about 1/3rd. Does MLV come in different densities? Could the HD stuff that's thinner be as dense as the Amazon stuff? I guess I'm suspicious both ways, the HD stuff seems too cheap to be good/true and on the other hand the Amazon stuff seems like it's over priced. The Amazon stuff is 1/8th inch thick, 3mm. Same stuff but smaller roll but still WAY more expensive than the HD stuff: Acoustical Barrier-DB348X96BX - The Home Depot Does doubling up offer any benefits or are the gains diminishing rapidly as you add layers?Ĥ ft. From what research I've done it seems like NRC rating is more meaningful in my application of blocking road noise than STC rating, is this correct? Has anyone used the HomeDepot product and if so how did it work out?Īnd about installation of MLV, does it need to be glued to the floor pan to work, should it just be laid under the carpet loose, or tacked in place at the edges with glue? I've seen a few car sound damping how-to's and it looked like they just laid it in there loosely, usually in door panels though. I see a 4x8 (32sqft) sheet that I can ship to store from HomeDepot for $30 (plus a little tax)that's got an NRC rating of. I see big huge rolls on Amazon of 50 to 100sq feet for $100-$250 with STC ratings in the 25-27 range and 1lb sq/ft. The floor pan is pretty well covered in asphalt from the factory and doesn't 'ring' but just thuds like a sheet of plywood when I tap on it.
#Mass loaded vinyl home depot driver
I'd like to add some MLV to the floor of my daily driver as I don't think CLD is going to help with my road noise as much as MLV would.

Before we get into the comic, the Control Zone does a feature on some celebrities of the time (East 17 were singers, I think one of their songs still does the rounds at Christmas?) meeting Sonic & Tails. The reason I’m posting this is not to joke about their “barely concealed delight” but to be like - check out the eyebrows on that Tails costume! I feel like the only other time I’ve seen Tails get huge eyebrows was in that Sonic Kids special that Archie did
Tumblr media
…Was this a thing? Why did people think Tails had huge eyebrows?

How to Get a Solar Rebate in Sydney
The Government of NSW is currently offering rebates for installing solar panels in your home. The Sydney solar rebate is available for up to three kilowatts, and you will qualify if your household falls within one of the low income categories. You can find out if you qualify at the NSW Government's website.
Boost Solar
Boost Solar is the emerging solar retail arm of Rise Energy Group Pty Ltd. Our presence in the solar manufacturing sector contributes to Australia’s climate goals and bolsters its vision of embracing the renewable targets. Residential buyers today are influenced by several elements beginning from the identification of a brand’s to how and where they encountered promotional messages. We believe in making the journey easier through retail, with our connected network and using highly experienced CEC Accredited installers.
Feed-in Tariff (FiT)
When it comes to solar rebates in Sydney, you may be wondering which company offers the best Feed-in Tariff (FiT) rate. It's worth noting that feed-in tariff rates in Australia are set by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal, which makes the final decision on the rates each year. Some electricity retailers will offer higher rates than others, but it's best to check before signing up for a particular deal.
The rate is subject to change each year, but it's important to note that the latest benchmark feed-in tariff rate is 4.6 to 5.5 cents per kilowatt-hour. The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of New South Wales (IPRT) has determined that it will be the lowest feed-in tariff rate for the state, but energy retailers are not required to match that rate.
Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs)
A small-scale technology certificate (STC) is a tradable document that demonstrates your solar system's ability to generate clean renewable electricity. These certificates are issued by an approved installer who is a member of the Clean Energy Council. The CEC represents clean energy technologies in Australia and works to ensure the quality and safety of the industry. The number of STCs a person can obtain in a given year depends on supply and demand. The amount of certificates available each year changes due to consumer behaviour and new technologies.
The cost of an STC varies by region. A typical STC can be worth $36. It depends on where you live and what your solar power output is. If you live in a sunny part of the country, you can qualify for a higher rebate than someone in a colder, rainy area.
Government Rebates for Solar Power in Australia
The government offers a variety of rebates and incentives to solar power consumers in Australia. The STC program helps offset the initial setup costs of solar panels, while the FiT program provides financial benefits throughout the lifetime of the PV system. In 2021, the FiT will pay out $525 per kW of installed solar power, which would amount to $3,465 in rebates on a typical 6.6kW system. The rebates are typically applied at the point of sale, and the advertised price may already include the solar rebate.
The Federal STC program is a great source of rebates for solar panels, which can cut the cost of a solar panel system by 30%. In addition, the Victorian state government offers a rebate for solar panel systems, worth up to $1,400. This rebate works like a point-of-sale discount, but has stricter eligibility requirements than the STC rebate. To be eligible, you must have a household income below $180,000 and a property worth under $3 million. You may also qualify for a rebate if you were an early adopter of solar power over ten years ago.
Cost of Solar Panels in Sydney
The climate in Sydney is ideal for solar panel production. A 5kW system can produce around 20 kWh per day, while a 10kW system can produce over 40 kWh a day. The amount of solar energy a solar panel system can produce depends on the amount of panels and the angle from which they are installed.
The cost of solar panels in Sydney varies widely, depending on the system capacity. The average system size is around 5 kWh, but some smaller systems cost more. For most Sydney residents, the cost of a six-kilowatt system will be between $5,000 and $8,000. The cost of a solar system in Sydney is dependent on the quality of the panels. Choosing a high-quality provider will ensure quality panels and a professional installation. Otherwise, you risk having inferior panels and a higher per unit electric bill.
At Boost Solar we aim to provide improvement in energy solutions by maximising quality and reducing power costs. We started this company with a vision and determination to be one of the best solar companies in Australia.
