Nikki was an unusual alternate. The gender stuff didn't phase Scourge in the slightest. It was the way she was pretty obviously hurt. That wasn't supposed to happen to one of them.

He'd arrived in this zone ready for another Sonic he wanted to tear down only to find someone who clearly didn't match his image of the hero on a pedestal. Despite the fact that she was obviously hiding it, she was too immediately vulnerable to be that smug, unassailable object of his hatred and envy. So instead he just... lingered and talked. Those words he'd once gloated about one bad day were stinging in the back of his head as he tossed around what this meant for both her and himself.

"...still, there's gotta be... better decisions, right? Or decisions you can make that can undo the old ones." He's coping, much more for his own comfort than trying to provide proper reassurance to his double. He can't abide by this idea that some aspects of the decisions he's made are... irreversible. There always has to be a way to correct your mistakes, right?

He wasn't one to exactly be on the best terms with most folks, but if he could at least speak to someone that had more knowledge than him, it was X. Xeno had more of his own personal angst than he wanted to bargain for, but it was true. It was only until recently that he was struggling with his previously human part. A human soul that still was thriving inside, but it felt... wrong.

Xeno kept himself hunched over with the rather small tea cup in his hand, tail lashing behind him as he listened. It could be called that, yes. A change in some strange way. It was a question that even most souls could not properly answer if he asked them such things. A quiet grumble was heard as he held the tea cup in his palm, staring at it with darkened eye sockets.
