ALRIGHT I'M MAKING THE POLL!

For my next liveblog, of anime, to run alongside Kamen Rider Ryuki, I'm presentiiiing.... 12 options!

Blue Gender's a scifi with some horror and with mechs, and from what I've heard it has a very cool woman, a loserman with weird cancer disease, violence, and crabs.

Mou Ippon is a show about a girls' judo club, and it would be the first sports anime I finish if I put it on! Got recommended it for being a non-horny girls sport anime, i like the designs, its got rivalries, and ive heard its underrated!

Asteroid In Love is vaguely a yuri, it's got an astronomical theme, I can never locate the manga for it, and I rarely watch slice of life shows so it also sems like a change of pace. Might not be too fun to liveblog tho?

MoNoNoKe is a show ive heard is fucking insane. About a medicine seller who hunts yokai with it all being morally ambiguous, wildly visual, and deliberately bizarre. Seems very fun to blog and watch, though maybe disorienting

SSSS Gridman is the only thing Tsubaraya has that isn't ultraman, and it has evil yuri megatron or so I've heard. Mech show with characters! got kaiju! comes highly recced.

Zetman seems to be both tokusatsu-y and stupidly edgy. That's al I know, that and the title character looks like an utter dingus!

Ex-Arm is a trainwreck masquerading as a yuri masquerading as a cyberpunk masquerding as a trainwreck masquerading as pornography. Few things have looked more funnybad on visuals alone. Also Zero Berzerker seems to be there

Agatha Christie's Great Detectives is an old show about both Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot occurring at the same time. Seems to be an interesting way to connect two series of mysteries. Also there is a bird and a girl

Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna is a mystery show with a beautifully grating OP about some sort of murder, some people called Blade Children, a class reporter hounding a protagonist to see if he's a murderer maybe?? There appears to be a kaworu and a misato. It compels me

Air is about a puppeteer searching for a Winged Maiden and I have absolutely no clue what it's doing in my list. Look at this cool art i found

Ajin is a 3d grimdark? anime about zombies slash Orphnochs being hunted by the government and its got horror and gore. and ghost?

Canaan is a TYPE-MOON work, though doesn't seem to be in the Fateverse or the Tsukihimeniversity, it has mercenaries, violence, hopefully yuri, and even more hopefully the Nasu Dialogue we all know and love.

Regardless! These are the choices for the anime to stand alongside Kamen Rider Ryuki in liveblogs once i'm done with Vampire Miyu!

Stand Still Stay Silent Liveblog #91

UPDATE 91: Surrounded

Last time Lalli had managed to escape Emil’s mindspace, swimming to the surface and starting to get away. Unfortunately for him, he hasn’t gone unnoticed. Something saw him swimming. Will he escape whatever’s going on? Let’s find out!

Oh, geez! That’s bad. Are we still going to try to be stealthy to avoid calling other things’ attention? Because, given the size and the...general appearance of danger this has, Lalli should fight as hard as possible, stealth be damned. Come on, Lalli, fight!

...damn it, fighting doesn’t seem to be an option. I’m sure if it were, Lalli would have done it, but...he couldn’t. Instead he shouts, trying to get help from Onni. That speaks a lot about how much danger he is in, Lalli doesn’t seem at all the kind of people who’d like to rely on others for help, family or not. This is so unexpected I don’t even know how to react. I really hope Onni is able to help.

Oh, I learned something today! I went to check because Onni managed to hear Lalli and I got curious if that was to be chalked to magic or something. Nope! It’s owl senses! So now Onni seeks Lalli, peering into the distance with owl eyes to try to find him, and...comes to the conclusion he imagined it. Goddamnit, that’s not good. If Lalli dies Onni is going to blame himself so much.

Underwater, Lalli gathers many small bubbles to make a big one to use as an air helmet, since that’s the priority here. Once he has that he can try to fight back – not that he has any way to save himself. That thing grabs him tight, seemingly snapping through the bubble and crunching him so hard it’s hearable. Ouch!

Outside, Emil celebrates his mind is clear for once, and tries to tell Lalli, but he’s not waking up. Lalli is still unconscious, and unless he gets free from...I don’t even know how to describe the thing grappling him...he’s not going to wake up. I guess that means for now Emil will have to keep carrying and dragging Lalli a bit longer. That should be okay now that he isn’t forced to listen to the trolls. Things should be more or less okay!

Okay, he’s on the move. There have to be rooms they can hide in, right? The problem I see is that he may not be able to make a barricade if he moves somewhere else, and it’s not like he can take the barricade he already made. There’s just no time and it’d leave the door undefended. He’s doomed unless dawn comes in the next minute or so.

They have locked themselves in a bathroom. I see a window over there, a possible way out? There’s a lock on the door, but I’m not sure that will be enough. Hmm...there’s nothing to block the door with unless he rips off the toilet and the sink, which...well, could he even do that? I doubt there’s any water in the pipes, rupturing things should be fine.

Wrong javlar.

Concise and completely understandable. Alright, Emil, carry on.

The dusklings manage to shatter the window, jumping in to attack! Many of them are bleeding, they even have pieces of glass stuck onto them. It doesn’t take long for them to find the door Emil is behind of, and are shouting about getting food behind that weak door. Emil’s threats do nothing to persuade them not to keep hunting. How unfortunate! Emil is not very intimidating unless he has fire.

Ah, time to try to make the escape! Emil opens the window and looks outside. Time to gauge how feasible it is to escape!

Not very feasible, it seems. Hmmm...but possibly, once they all go into the house maybe he can get out? The problem is that maybe they’ll hear him fall outside the window, and since there’s nothing stopping them from going outside...yeah, that’s a problem. Additionally, he has to drag Lalli. Finally, it’s dusk, night is coming, and it’s not like there’s going to be other shelters around here. Nope, this is bad. The only solution I can think is climbing on the roof and that’s hella dangerous.

No wonder both Lalli and Emil are saying they’re done for! And so, this update ends. This is a bit like a cliffhanger, haha.

Next on my "watching 2018 anime late" list...

I love giant robots, therefore, I love giant robots fighting kaiju genre, so I was pretty hype for his series before I actually started because I like binge watching lol

[Spoilers!]

The atmosphere of this anime is impressively heavy, in the "real world" scenes. Like. The zero bg music thing struck me in the first episode and drives the point of how absurd the tokosatsu stuff is in a world that feels absolutely real. Like... the people in this anime.... just talk and act like regular normal people. And then things go to shit and they react like normal people!!!!

It strikes more of a chord when the people who die from the kaiju attacks, are just. Forgotten by the people when the city gets reset. The only 3 people who remember them and especially really for Rikka who struggles with this more because she actually hung out with the first girls who died- not that much but, enough to feel the weight of it. She's arguably the most sane person of the whole thing but idk I'm only on ep 3 as of writing this but just......damn I feel bad for her.

Also side note but the ending is so gay, which I'm all for but idk how I feel about Rikka/Akane since Akane is.....Like That........ [Akane scares me]

Again tho I'm only on ep. 3!!! Welp, time to continue this binge session!

UPDATE 90: Under Attack

Last time Lalli heard the noise of dripping. Given this is something unexpected in the depths of Emil’s dreamworld, he decides to search for the source of the noise. Let’s find out!

Oh, guess that solves it. Emil left the bathtub overflowing. Goshdangit, Emil, you flooded your consciousness, what a mess. Either way, that’s enough of an anomaly to get Lalli’s attention. Taking a convenient ladder, he goes up to take a good look at it. Would it be a good idea to open that trapdoor? I don’t think it’s going to have any particular effects on Emil, but surely it can’t be as easy as opening it and swimming upwards, no? I mean, that would be just too easy.

As expected, it’s not easy! Lalli makes the water be still for long enough for him to take a good look at what’s above. It’s...foreboding. Many black shapes in the water, floating and swimming around. Knowing this story, I doubt they’re anything good. Will Lalli be fast and/or sneaky enough to swim all the way to the surface without getting seen?

Well it’s not that he has any option but try, anyway. It’s a way out, and he needs to leave before those dusklings manage to goad Emil into opening the door and letting them in. No choice but to hold his breath and start swimming.

Speaking of Emil outside! He’s still covering his ears and trying to ignore the onslaught of dusklings against the windows! It’s already stained from the blood of those things only getting concussions and skull fractures. Thank goodness Emil was right and these windows are so thick.

...Eeeemiiiil, giving ideas to your enemies is like the second worst kind of ‘something’ you could have done. Bad job! Very bad job! When I go to the next page will I see a couple of these starting to use their faces as hammers instead of trying to break through the window like a battering ram? Hm. Maybe it will all be fine as long as the same spot isn’t hit every time. That’s the only way I can kind of see things working, by progressively weakening the window pane.

Welp! It’s hitting the same spot over and over! And it’s working, because that sure is a crack in the glass. The duskling doing this is now dead, but there are at least three dozen more out there. Sacrificing three or four more to get this done will be a cinch. If Lalli is finally going to leave Emil’s headspace, then this will be the right time to do so – he can’t run away and seek shelter if he’s being lured by the trolls. He’s going to need a clear head for that.

Like I imagined, it’s not possible for him to go to a safer place because, as soon as he tries to move, the trolls mentally get a hold of him. All he can hope is that Lalli leaves before those dusklings breach the window and eat them. Lalli seems to be hesitating a bit, though, he’s still there. He has his head into the water, but...given how usually he’s not afraid of going headfirst into danger because he knows what to do, there are two possibilities. One, he has no idea what’s the best course of action – which isn’t too unlikely, but I lean more towards the second one: that he knows what’s out there and it’s so dangerous he’s afraid. Goodness gracious.

That’s the surface? There’s far less water than I thought. Also, it’s far more...full of things than I thought. Look at that. I’m surprised it can even be called water, it looks more like a wall of scales and spikes. But it works, Emil stops hearing those dusklings’ black speech. That’s one step more towards safety!

Lalli emerges and looks around, unsure of where to go. Say, hadn’t Lalli fallen into the water of his own personal dream territory? And somehow that led to Emil? Now he’s in the middle of nowhere. Emil’s headspace must be humongous, if it reaches all the way here, haha! But yeah, I suppose spatial rules don’t apply to the International Mage Hub.

Onni isn’t anywhere nearby, but there’s someone here. Someone orange and nebulous. Reynir? That sure is Reynir-orange! It’d be great for them to know the two missing crewmates are still alive, that’s soothe so many of their worries. Besides, imagine this scenario: the ship arrives, ready to take the survivors back to the safety of civilization. Sigrun, Mikkel and Reynir, knowing their missing partners are alive, try to stall and make the ship wait, and when everything seems hopeless...Emil and Lalli arrive! Making their heroic entrance! Maybe even with fire roaring behind them thanks to Emil’s pyro skills. Bam! Instant drama. Give me a screenwriting award, everybody, haha!

Apparently whatever that red person is...is not good. Lalli turns around and swims away, hoping he doesn’t get noticed. What’s that, then? A hostile spirit? Is it the swan of Tuonela that took Tuuri and you shouldn’t approach it? A mystery! At this point of the story, to boot. Interesting!

While Lalli’s fleeing went unnoticed by that orange thing, it didn’t go unnoticed for...other entities.

Oh well. That’s going to be troublesome to deal with, it looks pretty big and with ill intentions. Lalli is in trouble!

But this may be a good point to stop, so I’m stopping now. Until next time!
