anyway not to be smug or anything but outages (server-side and otherwise) as well as fic deletion are the reasons i am an avid fanfic downloader. the option is available on every fic as far as i'm aware, coming in a few different formats. pdf works nice, so does epub if you've got something like calibre.

just because it's online now, you can't assume it will be forever. like i know the slogan "everything that's online is out there forever" exists but that depends on copies being made and passed around.

i don't know if the wayback machine is allowed to pull from ao3, but even if it is, i would highly doubt there's a copy of literally every single uploaded fanfic. plus, even the wayback machine can go down, and i'd argue it's important to let it be more than just a fanfiction backup.

so if you'd be devastated to lose the chance to read it, save it yourself (when the site is available, obviously). it's free, there's a button right there for it at the top of the page.

if you're on a mobile device that just takes you into a separate page with the file, but doesn't download it automatically, you can do that yourself by hitting the little "share" arrow (or whatever it is on your device) and from there you should see options to save it to your downloads, to a cloud service of choice, etc.

okay, here's a little thing i can do.

kazumaji week, karaoke kings, yeah?

after yakuza 6, my timeline takes a turn, wherein kiryu actually has *gasp* consequences for going through that brutalisation. one consequence is the loss of his speech and some of his language ability - he doesn't leave, as he is now moderately disabled and needs day to day help.

so, sure, he can't sing for himself anymore - at least, not the expected way. every time he comes up on one of his losses, he does get really frustrated with himself, even logically knowing it's not his fault.

but we're talking kiryu and majima here. fuck the expected way, says majima. kiryu can still roughly vocalise and carry a tune, especially his favourites - idk exactly how karaoke machines work (hi i'm nonverbal myself lmao) but regardless, it's still a way of having fun and connecting to just try

i think another idea majima has is little "singing battles" - going back and forth making up tunes, until one is stuck or breaks their tune and can't recover.

one thing kiryu really appreciates (though he finds it hard to explain) is when people meet him on his level and sort of mimic him. not if done cruelly, but it feels better when he's not the only one doing things "wrong" - and majima's more than happy to embrace that for him. so, both use simple vocalisation, rather than putting words.

...but of course, these are still battles. distractions ensue, without fail: majima teasing kiryu by showing off his chest, kiryu signing obscenities to make majima laugh... just the shenanigans of two men in their 50s absolutely in love with each other.

does kiryu miss karaoke as he used to know it? of course. it's understandable to miss the things you had before a loss of skills. but with majima encouraging him to do things his way, it stings less.

and, after all this time, i think majima still knows the words to 24 hour cinderella. :3c

a silly nsfw majima in okinawa/kazumaji headcanon,

look. we gotta admit. 9 kids and a small house gives kiryu very little time and space to do things like jack off. when they're at school, he has things around the house to take care of, or errands in town. when they're home, he has to expect interruption.

so when majima gets there and later they finally have the time to run off to a local love hotel, kiryu busts mortifyingly quick. like majima has this whole plan in his head and kiryu is just too sensitive for it. has to say fuck the plan and just meets kiryu back on his level.

which makes it the best anyway because it means they're back together :)
