Part of my Ineffable Husbands ficlet collection. For the prompt: crayon.

“Nanny, where’s the yellow crayon?” asked the Adversary, Destroyer of Kings, Angel of the Bottomless Pit, Great Beast that is called Dragon, Prince of this World, Father of Lies, Spawn of Satan, and Lord of Darkness aka Warlock Dowling.

“Yellow?” said Nanny Ashtoreth aka Anthony J. Crowley. “What do you need the yellow crayon for, dear? We have a lovely black crayon here, for the sky. And grey and brown for the nuclear wasteland that will be Earth under your rule. Oh, and look at this pretty red one, for the spilled blood of your enemies.”

“And for your hair, Nanny!”

Crowley smiled. “And for my hair, yes dear.”

“So I need yellow for Brother Francis’s hair!”

“Brother Francis? Why would Brother Francis . . .” Crowley peered over Warlock’s shoulder at the drawing she had only been half paying attention to. The sky was black, as she had suggested to Warlock but instead of a desolate waste there was a strip of green grass along the bottom of the paper (it could use a good shouting at, Crowley thought, to perk up some, and made a mental note for later). In the center of the page were three people: one short boy with dark hair, a tall, thin figure all in black with red hair, and a shorter, squatter brown splodge who was missing his shock of angelic white-blonde curls that Crowley yearned to run her fingers through. The last two figures were holding hands.

(Wedged into the far corner of the paper there were two sad-looking stick figures labeled “Mom” and “Dad,” but Crowley hardly noticed this.)

Crowley swallowed hard. “Very nice, dear. But, you know, Brother Francis and I aren’t . . . we hardly know each other. Why are we holding hands?” She sounded, she thought, like Aziraphale, denying their friendship so many times through the millennia.

“I’ve seen you talk to him,” said Warlock. “When you think I”m not paying ‘tention. Or when you think I’m asleep. And you were looking at him through the window this whole time.”

Crowley darted another glance out said window where Brother Francis aka Aziraphale was doing his best to murder a rosebush. She opened her mouth, then closed it again. She snapped a yellow crayon into existence and handed it to Warlock.

Warlock didn’t say “thank you” (very Antichrist-like activity, that), just drew a few squiggles on top of Aziraphale’s head. Then he handed the drawing to Crowley and dashed out of the room, calling, “Let’s make cookies now!” over his shoulder.

Carefully, Crowley folded the drawing and smoothed out the seams before tucking it into the upper pocket of her dress. It wouldn’t do for either of their sides to get wind of this.

The Sweetest Summoning

So, who wants to read an AU where Patton accidentally summons a demon with cake frosting? I was thinking about this today, and it made me laugh, so I’m sharing this nonsense with all of you. If anybody wants to add on to this, feel free. It’s just a short thing I couldn’t get out of my head.

Parings: None, it’s platonic. Moxiety, I guess???

Warnings: I mean...none really. Virgil’s a demon, but he’s chill.

Patton hummed happily to himself as he frosted his freshly baked cake. He’d been in the mood for chocolate, and now he was just having fun with the frosting. He had a bunch of different colors, and he was just swirling different designs all over it. Mainly as an excuse to layer on an inordinate amount of frosting, but that was neither here nor there. He added one last squiggle to the end, when the kitchen suddenly became ice cold.

Patton stopped decorating, glancing up at the window. No, it was shut tight and locked. It had been a raw one outside today, windy, rainy and cold, so he’d turned the heat up as soon as he got home. Baking always helped, too. Shrugging a little, he continued his project, happily humming a little tune. He turned around to grab a different color...and jumped back, his heart pounding in his chest.

An enormous shadow loomed menacingly in the corner, and two glowing, purple eyes peered out at him. Every instinct in him screamed run, hide, danger, but Patton was frozen in place. He had no idea what this thing was, but he was terrified.

Virgil huffed to himself in irritation. The first time he’s been summoned in over three hundred years, and it’s this doofy guy who accidentally scrawled his summoning sigil on a cake?! The universe must absolutely despise him. He cocked his head, sizing up his prey. The guy was clearly frightened, and being a Fear Demon that was certainly appealing. What was he even wearing?! Was that cat hoodie over a blue polo???

Patton slowly relaxed as the...whatever it was...didn’t move or do anything threatening. He had no idea what was going on, but, well...it never hurt to be kind! So, he gave it a cheerful smile and waved. Virgil stared. This guy could not be serious.

“Hello! I hope you don’t mind, but you gave me a bit of a fright. What brings you to my kitchen?” Virgil was utterly and completely confused. Why...why was the mortal talking to him?! He was...smiling...and being nice. This was highly unusual. He wasn’t entirely sure what the protocol was for this. In answer to the human’s question, he silently pointed to the cake. Patton’s eyes widened in shock. Cake? The thing wanted...cake?!

“Oh, would you like some? I just finished, and obviously there’s plenty to share. Here, let me cut you a slice.” As he spoke, Patton turned and grabbed a plate and a knife, carefully cutting a healthy piece, then grabbed a fork. He slowly offered it to the shadow, who glanced from the cake to his face and back again, then gently accepted it.

Virgil had no idea how to handle this particular interaction. In all his years, no one had ever summoned him without demanding something of him. This human had obviously managed an accidental summon (his soul was far too pure) and had no idea what he was dealing with. Yet he was still treating Virgil kindly. He should probably be scaring the daylights out of this guy, but...somehow...Virgil just didn’t have it in him to try. It would be way too easy. He contemplated the pastry on his plate, poking it with his fork. He hadn’t eaten mortal food in a very long time. Shrugging, he took a tentative bite.

Virgil’s eyes flew wide at the incredible flavor! This was amazing, the best cake he’d ever eaten in his life. He quickly wolfed down the rest of his portion and looked longingly at the remaining cake. Patton beamed at him, grabbing his plate and cutting another slice. Virgil happily ate more, making little purring noises as he did.

“Well, I’m glad you like it! I’m Patton, by the way. Do you have a name?” Virgil paused, mid bite, and thought for a moment. His voice was naturally quite disturbing for humans to hear, and he really wanted more cake. He shrugged and pointed towards the table. Patton looked down, and jumped a little when the word “VIRGIL” was carved into the wood. That was...disturbing.

“Virgil? Your name is Virgil?” The shadow nodded, and Patton got the impression those violet eyes were amused. Huh. Well, he had a cake loving shadow monster named Virgil in his kitchen. Add that to the list of thoughts he never thought he’d have in his lifetime.

Virgil almost shook with suppressed laughter. This guy really was too naive! Giving a demon his name? And asking for said demon’s in return? This had to be the oddest interaction he’d ever had. But it was...sweet, in a way. It was pleasant not to be feared or hated. And the quality of the cake could not be overstated.

“What are you, Virgil? If you don’t mind me asking, of course.” Virgil nearly winced at the question. He could always lie. But this guy had been alright so far...screw it. The word DEMON appeared, etched into the table. Patton stared for a long moment, then looked back up at him.

“You’re...a demon?!” Virgil rolled his eyes and nodded, looking anywhere but at the human. Here it comes, the inevitable screaming or badly attempted exorcism.

“How did I manage to summon a demon with cake frosting...?” Patton murmured to himself, looking adorably perplexed. “Well, you don’t seem to be intent on causing me any harm, so I suppose...it’s nice to meet you, Virgil.”

Okay, he was insane. That’s the only reasonable explanation for why a human would be smiling at him, using his name, and not having a total nervous breakdown. Virgil could not believe this was happening. Who WAS this guy???

“Not to be rude, Virgil, but uhhh...I have to go to work tomorrow, so if you don’t need anything else, I think I’m going to head to bed. Are you okay with that?” Virgil blinked slowly, reached out and slid the rest of the cake towards himself, then nodded. Patton laughed, and Virgil’s eyes danced with amusement.

“Yeah, go ahead and finish that off. I’ll see you around, Virgil. Goodnight!” Patton waved and headed up to his room. You would think having a demon eating cake in his kitchen would keep him awake, but oddly enough he drifted right off.

Virgil gleefully finished the cake, then glanced around. This was a nice place. It was warm and cozy. Patton didn’t seem to mind him, and he was so very tired of the screaming and chaos of Hell. He shrugged, then shrank himself down to his other form. Demons could take on several forms, but this was the one he used to make the scrabbling noises in the walls when he was trying to frighten people.The tiny claws were perfect for that, although he supposed if any humans had seen this form they would have laughed rather than screamed. He resembled a dragon, but roughly the size of a house cat. Hardly intimidating. Fluttering his small wings, he swiftly rose to the top of the fridge and settled down, curling up to take a nap. His belly was full and he was tired.

The next morning, a very startled Patton would find a small, hissing dragon on the top of his refrigerator with very familiar purple eyes. Virgil would glare as Patton made breakfast, then gleefully eat the things Patton offered him. Patton would make annoying cooing sounds at him, and Virgil would huff and go back to his shadow form just to make it stop.

Days would turn into weeks, then months, and after a year of having Virgil in the house, Patton glanced at his odd roommate, who was curled up next to him on the couch.

“Virgil? Why did you decide to stay here with me?” Virgil cocked his head, pondering his answer. He had never spoken before, and Patton wasn’t really expecting an answer, but the shadow shifted, and suddenly a much more human face was peering at him from under long purple bangs.

“Because you were kind to me.” The voice was low and distorted, clearly not human, but Patton was so overjoyed that he squealed and dropped the book he was reading on the floor. A smirk slowly spread across Virgil’s face, his eyes dancing with that familiar wicked amusement.

“And you baked me a cake.”

...SO...ABOUT THE DRAGON PRINCE SEASON 5...

So I finally settled down to watch the new season of The Dragon Prince: Mystery of Aaravos and oddly enough, I don’t have much to say about for this current season.

Don’t get me wrong, that’s not to say that the season was bad or that I didn’t enjoy it. I just don’t have a lot to gush about for S5 to fill an entire musing post so I’m just gonna give my general thoughts:

Overall, I thought S5 was pretty solid season. I definitely enjoyed it a lot better than S4, for sure.

As always, the art and animation of the series looked beautiful and I don’t know if it’s cause I haven’t watch TDP in a while but somehow the animation looked a lot better to my eyes than ever

But given how S5 ended, now I am completely confused as to where exactly this story of Aaravos is going to go. Here I figured it would’ve played out as what you’d expect---I figured Claudia would’ve succeeded in retrieving Aaravos’ prison; freeing him entirely and saving her father in the process---y’know her entire motive for this current arc.

But instead, not only does Claudia fail compared to last season’s conclusion (and losing a leg in the process! Like that surprised me. I wasn’t expecting Rayla to have cut the tentacle that was actually Claud’s real foot. That got me good) but to my surprise as the audience, Viren actually had a change of heart?!

Not only does he wish to do away with dark magic but also Aaravos’ influence as well; basically resolving himself to die and the season just ends with him preparing to do so.

I...was not expecting that at all.

And do you know what else I wasn’t expecting? That little tidbit about Viren’s past with baby Soren and what was hinted during that sequence.

From what I gathered from Viren’s memories, it seems like as a toddler, Soren was very sick and appeared to be at death’s doorstep until Viren used dark magic to either bring his son back from the brink of death or cure him of whatever cursed disease he had that was plaguing him.

This is about the second time Soren has been saved from some life-threatening event by his loved ones using dark means to do so. We got a taste of it back in S2 when Claudia killed the baby deer to cure Soren of his paralysis and now we have the reveal of Viren doing the same to cure him of some unknown illness he has a baby.

This makes me wonder something about Soren---is he supposed to die at some point? Is this a sign by the narrative that there’s going to be death flags for Soren? Both his sister and their father have done bad things just to keep him alive.

Imagine if…in the end, Soren sacrifices his life for either his father or Claudia or both of them?

As adorably naive as the show often likes to portray Soren at times as our veteran himbo, Soren is also pretty selfless and loyal, almost to a fault---willing to do anything to protect the people most dearest to him. Before it was his family and now it’s his friends. And what’s worse is that Soren is oblivious to what both his sister and their father have done for him.

How do you think Soren will react to knowing what his dad did for him when he was just a baby boy?

Dear Dragon Prince, you can’t just have Viren be a complete awful dad to Soren last season (which fits the bill since Viren has always been an ass to his son) and then be like “Nah, Viren actually loves Soren more than we’ve led ya’ll, the audience, to believe for FIVE WHOLE seasons. Here have a flashback of Viren actually being loving and affectionate to his only son and first born child.”

Viren has always been that kind of conflicting villain where you don’t like him for his actions but you can’t completely bring yourself to hate him because most of his heinous acts have been for the betterment of people he cares about deeply. So between, this new Soren revelation and Viren hitting Aaravos with dem divorce papers after telling him to kill their discount Smeagle/Gollum love child to bring himself back to life fully, this just adds another layer of conflicting feelings for yours truly with Viren as a character and what the f***k Aaron Ehauz and Justin Richmond.

And this is ONTOP of whatever the f***k they intend to do with the King Harrow’s soul being trapped inside of a bird which they actually teased this season.

Oh good! I thought they FORGOT that plot line because two years have passed within the TDP universe and neither Ezran nor Callum are aware that their father is alive…kind of? It’s kind of up in the air right now like the bird that his body was swapped with whose whereabouts are unknown.

All we know is that the bird escaped way back in season…what is it? One? The very first book and FIVE SEASONS later, we still don’t know what became of it.

FIVE SEASONS and HOW MANY BOOKS OF SIDE STORIES and we still got no closure on that, among other things.

I have a feeling that by the time the Mystery of Aaravos is resolve, the whole main cast is gonna have their dads back.

Callum and Ezran are gonna get their dad back cause he ain’t dead---he a bird.

Rayla is gonna get her dad, her dad figure and even her momma back too cause they ain’t dead---they got turned into money!

Claudia and Soren are gonna get their dad back cause Viren ain’t dead---he got brought back to life and there may be a sliver of chance in the plot that he’ll end up surviving and living long enough to have an actual healthy relationship with BOTH of his children, no dark magic required.

And finally Zym---the Dragon Prince himself---is gonna get his daddy back because the Dragon King ain’t dead either! He just turned to stone and I’m sure there will be some magical way to turn him back.

It’s actually kind of funny---NOBODY’S DAD IS ACTUALLY DEAD IN THIS SHOW XD

I feel like they’re gonna pull a complete bait and switch. Since this is the second season they’ve teased an alternate opening with Callum as one of Aaravos’ key pawns, this cannot be a coincidence now.

In a future season, Callum will fall to the dark side and become a dark mage; whether he does so willingly of his own choice or not as a result of becoming possessed by Aaravos again.

Here I thought it was going to be Claudia who would ultimately turn full evil and we’d basically get a similar scenario as to what we got in S3 with her replacing her father as Aaravos’ main vessel.

However; after watching this season in full, it dropped just enough nuggets to debunk this. Following the ending of “Finnegrin’s Wake”, hinting more at the possibility of Callum experimenting with dark magic, I feel like that will be the twist or subversion for the next book/future season: Aaravos trading Claudia and Viren for Callum becoming his dark mage with friends needing to come together to save him.

That’s my theory for now.

So in conclusion, Season 5 was pretty good. Not gonna gripe too much about Rayllum this time since they actually delivered good on some decent Rayllum crumbs for this book. Still no kisses as yet (except in a flashback to the SUPERIOR S3) but I'll take what I got from this season. ESPECIALLY the part where Amaya popped off on Rayla for breaking Callum's heart and leaving him.

Mad respect for Amaya for looking out for her nephew's best interest; even jacking up his ex. Especially since it led to a cute moment between the couple later. I mean, they're still not back together-together as yet officially but like I said I'll take it for now.

At least we got some Terry and Claudia kisses this season which were quite sweet.

Terry wasn't as big of a focal character for this season sadly as he was last season but still loved his moments of being a more grounded and positive source support for Claudia. No pun intended here but Terry is really growing on me as a favourite from this side of the TDP story.

If I have anything more to say, I'll say in seperate post. As for now, these are main thoughts on TDP S5.

For those who don’t know, the new season of The Dragon Prince: Mysteries of Aaravos is out now on Netflix. It was original planned for this Friday on July 28th but in a twist that would floor M. Night Shyamalan, they released the season a whole week early.

I find this tactic kinda funny given how (ridiculously) LONG they took to announce the official release date for S4 last time. But yeah, it’s out ya’ll.

I had made peace to watch the new season on Friday but noooooo, the TDP team just had to “ruin” my plans by dropping the new season a whole week early!

Why? Why did you do that!

Now I gotta be dodging spoilers for the new season for a whole week before I can settle down to watch it myself.

I know I can probably try to watch the new season. HOWEVER…I also know if I watch the new season right now, I’ll probably finish it like probably tomorrow for the latest and then who knows how long we’ll have to wait for the next season? I’m not quite ready to part ways with TDP just yet since it just got here.

I don’t just want to binge the new season of TDP. I want watch it, enjoy it (hopefully more than I did S4) and then savour it before I give my full thoughts on S5.

Outside of the one teaser clip which gave me hope for Rayllum, I have avoided any and all further promotional content for the new season since the first trailer drop.

So I know f*** all about what is to come from this new season outside of where the last one left us off. And that’s how I like it to be before I can have time to watch the new season.

If there is one thing I hope this season does is deliver more on dem Rayllum crumbs. Season 4 was painful to sit through as a diehard Rayllum shipper so I’m hoping that S5 does better on my main OTP.

While I do adore the Terry and Claudia pair (who I’m also looking forward to see being developed more for this new season), even their quirky cuteness was not enough to quell the displeasure I felt for the showrunners’ decision to break up Rayllum ESPECIALLY COMING OFF THE HIGH THAT WAS S3 OF THE ORIGINAL SERIES AND THEY DID IT ON CALLUM’S CANONICAL BIRTHDAY IN A BOOK!!! A FREAKING BOOK THAT AS A RAYLLUM SHIPPER I REFUSE TO EVER READ BECAUSE WHY WOULD I HURT MYSELF!

Rant aside, I’m just gonna simply say that I’m still very, very, VERY salty about how Rayllum was canonically broken up. The salt well still runs for that. That being said, I hope S5 delivers a little more on bringing these two kids back together…maybe.

If you’ve already watched the new season, please refrain from sending me any kind of spoilers. I don’t even wanna know if there are any cute shipping moments for the season. I wanna go into this blind and experience it for myself.

But that will have to be on Friday. Sorry TDP team but this squiggly gal will be watching the new season on its original release date since it better fits with my busy bee schedule.

Dragonic Musings: The Dragon Prince FUTURE?

Okay so we know that the Ozymandias Arc of the Dragon Prince storyline has officially concluded with Season III, correct?

Well what if…for the next stage of the plot involving Aaravos---the Aaravos Arc as I’ll call it, there is a time skip?

Picture a timeskip of let’s say…4 years? That way by the time our story resumes for the new adventure, Ezran will be a teenager. He’ll be 14 years old (and 10 months)---the same age that his brother Callum was at the start of the last arc to have that parallel. Callum will now be 18 years old with Rayla in turn being 19 years old.

Technically Callum will be an adult or of adult age and…let’s say, he and Rayla’s relationship has only grown stronger over the years. So strong that, Callum desires to propose to Rayla and ask her to be his wife.

He even tries to bring up the idea to her from time to time before he pops the big question but let’s say…Rayla is sort of skeptical about marriage---not because she doesn’t love Callum or doesn’t want to spend the rest of her life with him---it’s just that. Let’s say for whatever reason, despite the events of the Stormspire with the return of the Dragon Prince reuniting with his mother---the Dragon Queen---that wasn’t enough to have Rayla’s ghosting lifted from her clan and she’s still pretty much banished from her homeland?

Let’s say Rayla would love to marry Callum but she would love it more if they could return to her home so she can share in the moment with her people and have a customary Moonshadow Elf wedding ceremony or something.

Or...maybe it’s a thing where Rayla wants to marry Callum but she is reminded of her parents and how...she would be getting married and most of her family wouldn’t be there to celebrate the moment with her? Her parents are gone. Runaan is gone. All she has is Ethari but...if my theory is right that she’s still banished....I mean...what if..not EVERYONE in Xadia and the human kingdoms have been open to this new peace?

Imagine if word got back to Rayla’s clan over the events of the Stormspire and it’s still not enough cause the Moonshadow Elves aren’t really open to the change? So Rayla is still unwelcomed there, sadly?

Or…maybe it’s a thing where the union between a human and an elf is still considered weird by some folks even after four years of change. Imagine if…despite fighting for the change by returning the Prince, building that change over the years hasn’t been easy. Especially given all that went down at the Stormspire and the events leading up to it where certain kingdoms monarchs were slain or injured.

Dragon Prince always did well on bringing back previous plot points and fleshing them out. We never got to see more of the aftermath of what transpired where the rulers of the other human kingdoms were slain were slain and Xadia was blamed for it.

I just would love to see how the story of the Dragon Prince would resume with a much older main cast.

I definitely would love to see how everyone would look and act. I’m especially interested to see what the friendship between a 14-year-old King Ezran and the Dragon Prince…soon to be crowned Dragon King: Ozymondias. I’m curious to see how Zym would be at 4-years old. I’d imagine he’d be closer to adult size in dragon years (and he can talk now!)

Oh! Oh! And imagine if…now that Zym is of age to become the Dragon King, but he ends up being challenged for his crown by other monarch dragons in Xadia?

This would be an excellent way to bring the political side of how dragons are chosen for kingship within Xadia.

How is it done? Is it a trial by combat in which the candidates are welcomed to challenge the old king for the crown and should the battle be lost in favour of the old king, a new king is appointed as ruler?

We know Sol Regem was Dragon King once before? But then Thunder took his place? So did Sol Regem choose the next Dragon King after he became blinded? Did his personally chose Avizandum as the next king? How is it that Avizandum became king and not another dragon like Sol Regem?

How was Zym’s father appointed as Dragon King? Didn’t Sol Regem have his own heir?

Was their originally another Dragon heir BEFORE Zym who was the child of Sol Regem but their title was stripped out of their hands when Avizandum challenged Sol Regem for the throne of king and won?

I mean there wasn’t any animosity between Sol Regem and Zym so perhaps Sol did respect Avizandum and chose him to be his heir?

Ooooh! What if...Sol Regem did have a child but he ended up choosing Avizandum over his own heir since he was the better fit for king and there’s that potential story?

Seriously what’s the backstory with that?

I’d actually love to know. Y’know what?

That’d actually be interesting to tie Ezran and Zym’s storylines together again with both of them learning to be good kings in their respective kingdoms. That could be great and given how excellent the writing in the show already is, I know this kind of storyline would be handled well for both young characters.

That would be cool.

But then again, this is only my take on it. I really hope the next stage of the Dragon Prince will take place after a time skip. I really think it could be great but…if not, that’s fine too. I eagerly await what’s next for this series, regardless of what is it.

Dragonic Musings: I was wrong ya’ll. SO VERY WRONG

Last time I talked about the third season of The Dragon Prince on my blog, I had made it to the fourth episode and gave ya’ll the impression that it was the best episode yet. I thought Episode 4 was my favourite episode of the season so far. GUYS I’M CRYING! My heart was not ready for this and now I’m floored!

RWBY take notes from the Dragon Prince. THIS IS HOW YOU DO A LOVE CONFESSION! I can only dream that Rosegarden could be as good as Rayllum because this moment! Callum confessing to Rayla,

CALLUM! MY MAN! THIS MOMENT DUDE! I…MY HEART.

HAVE I TOLD YOU GUYS HOW MUCH I LOVE THE DRAGON PRINCE? HAVE I? I DON’T THINK I HAVE.

I FREAKING LOVE THIS SHOW!

I’ve only just resumed watching the rest of Season 3 and now I feel the need to take a break again just to process this moment. IT’S SO FREAKING GOOD!

DO I EVEN NEED TO WATCH THE NEXT EPISODE? SHOULD I CONTINUE WATCHING? DO I NEED TO FINISH THIS SEASON? I CAN END ON THIS EPISODE, RIGHT? RIGHT?

I’m kind of a little nervous too. This was such a good episode that ended on such a beautiful note (ESPECIALLY FOR MY RAYLLUM SHIPPING HEART) that I don’t wanna continue and then shit goes down!

I can only hope that things go better from this point. But RAYLLUM aside, this episode was a good episode. Everyone was SO GOOD! EZRA! SOREN! CLAUDIA! VIREN EVEN WITH HIS DAMN YAMPEE-EYED SELF!

Soooo good! I really love this episode. I’m just going to say it:

THE DRAGON PRINCE BOOK 3 EPISODE 5 IS MY FAVOURITE EPISODE OF SEASON 3 SO FAR.

Will my mind be changed again? We shall see! Overall!

Dragonic Musings: So…I have officially finished The Dragon Prince Book 3…

…And, I have no words. Like I’m incapable of forming coherent sentences right now. So, if you all would pardon me, I’m just going to share some screenshots from scenes that stood out most to me and screech my opinion of them in the most bluntest of fashions:

THEY WROTE A LOVE STORY THAT TOOK PLACE OVER THE SPAN OF THREE WHOLE SEASONS---9 EPISODES A POP TOTALLY IN 27 EPISODES. THEY WROTE A ROMANCE BETWEEN TWO CHARACTERS WHO’VE ONLY KNOW EACH OTHER FOR 27 EPISODES AND MANAGED TO MAKE THE PROGRESSION OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP AND EVENTUAL LOVE FEEL...NATURAL AND NOT...FORCED AT ALL. FREAKING AMAZING MAN!

AND IT’S NOT JUST THEM. IT’S NOT JUST RAYLLUM

SOOOOO AMAYA AND THE SUN KNIGHT ELF....

THEY ARE A COUPLE RIGHT? OR AM I TRIPPING BALLS NOW? CAUSE...I SHIP IT. WHY NOT? I THOUGHT THEIR INTERACTIONS WERE SO CUTE >U< NOT TO MENTION THAT I LOVE STRAWBERRY GREN’S LIL SMILE OF APPROVAL AT AMAYA AND HER NEW ELF GIRLFRIEND. IT’S SO WHOLESOME.

GOSH I LOVE THIS SHOW.

NEXT UP....

ZYM WAS SOOOOO GOOD IN THESE LAST FEW EPISODES.

IT ACTUALLY LOVE HOW THEY TREATED ZYM MEETING HIS MOM FOR THE FIRST TIME. CALL ME WEIRD HERE BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING ALMOST HUMAN TO HOW IT WAS APPROACHED.

IT REMINDED OF THOSE SCENARIOS WHERE ADOPTED CHILDREN WHO HAVE TO MEET THEIR REAL PARENTS FOR THE FIRST TIME ARE HANDLED AND I LIKE HOW THE DRAGON WRITERS CHOSE THIS APPROACH FOR ZYM. IT FELT...REAL AND I LIKED IT ALOT. PLUS...

NOT TO MEME THIS MOMENT HERE BUT I’M GONNA TELL MY KIDS THAT ZYM’S MOM IS MUH QUEEN!

ZYM’S MOM IS SO PRETTY AND I LOVE HER VOICE. SPEAKING OFF...DOES THIS MEAN THAT AT SOME POINT ZYM IS GOING TO LEARN HOW TO TALK?

CAUSE I’VE NOTICED THAT SINCE THE START OF THIS SEASON, THE DRAGONS---AT LEAST THE ONES WHO HAVE BEEN MONARCHS CAN TALK. SO WHAT IS THAT? IS IT THAT ALL DRAGONS CAN TALK IF THEY CHOOSE TOO OR...IS IT ONLY THE MONARCH ONES? I’M ASSUMING IT’S THE MONARCH ONES. EITHER WAY, I’M INTERESTED TO SEE WHAT ZYM IS GOING TO SOUND LIKE WHEN HE GROWS OLDER. WHILE I’LL MISS HIS LITTLE PUPPY DOG SOUNDS, IT’D BE SWEET TO SEE ZYM ACTUALLY TALK. MAYBE EZRAN CAN TEACH HIM TO TALK 8D THAT’D BE SWEET

OVERALL, THIS FINALE WAS REALLY REALLY GOOD. THIS SEASON WAS REALLY, REALLY GOOD. IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE REWATCHED THE WHOLE SERIES FROM THE FIRST BOOK. I’LL PROBABLY DO THAT FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS. BUT FOR NOW, I THINK I’M JUST GONNA GO BACK AND REWATCH THE RAYLLUM MOMENT FROM CH5 INSTEAD CAUSE...I’M SORRY I REALLLLLLLLY LOVED THAT SCENE.

BUT BEFORE I DO. I GOT TWO MORE THINGS I WANNA SCREECH ABOUT.

Not to be a Darth Vader or anything but....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! CLAUDIA WHYYYYYYYYYYY!

WHY! I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU! I MEAN...IN A WEIRD WAY, I GET IT. AND IN AN EVEN WEIRDER WAY I....KIND OF LIKE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CLAUDIA AND VIREN. IT REMINDED ME OF OZAI AND AZULA FROM AVATAR BUT...ALOT MORE....SYMPATHETIC, FOR LACK OF A BETTER TERM.

I GET THAT VIREN IS A VILLAIN BUT WHAT I LOVE ABOUT HOW THE DRAGON PRINCE HAS PORTRAYED HIM IS THAT...VIREN DOESN’T FEEL LIKE AN ENTIRELY EVIL PERSON. HE HAS SOME GOOD IN HIM AND IT COMES IN THE FORM OF HIS LOVE FOR CLAUDIA. YOU CAN TELL THAT CLAUDS IS VIREN’S PRIDE AND JOY. I WISH HE HAS SAVED SOME OF THAT LOVE SOREN BUT....THIS WAS THE CONFLICT.

VIREN IS A VILLAIN BUT...HIS CHARACTER IS WRITTEN SO WELL AND SO GREY THAT YOU AS THE AUDIENCE FEEL CONFLICTED. EVEN NOW AFTER HE’S DONE A SHIT TON OF EVIL STUFF, I STILL FEEL SYMPATHETIC FOR HIM BECAUSE OF HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS CLAUDIA.

I FEEL SO BAD FOR SOREN AND CLAUDIA. THEY WERE THE KIDS MAN AND IT SUCKED SO BAD THAT THEY HAD TO BE BROKEN APART ESPECIALLY AFTER SEASON TWO’S REVELATION ABOUT THEM.

BUT AT THE SAME TIME, I AM SO SOOOOOOOOO PROUD OF SOREN! SOREN WAS THE FREAKING MVP OF THIS SEASON.

I KNOW I GUSHED MOSTLY ABOUT RAYLLUM BUT SOREN AND ALSO EZRAN AS WELL WERE THE CHARACTERS WHOSE DEVELOPMENT STOOD OUT MOST TO ME. DON’T GET ME WRONG. EVERY CHARACTER SHINED THIS SEASON AND IT WAS HARD TO REALLY PICK FAVOURITES. BUT IF I HAD TO, EZ AND SOREN. ESPECIALLY SOREN.

SO PROUD OF HIM.

THAT BEING SAID. I AM AT THE END OF BOOK 3 FOR TDP. FUNNY, WITH THE WAY HOW THIS SEASON ENDED, I WAS STARTING TO THINK THAT THIS WAS IT. I FIGURED THIS WAS THE END OF THE DRAGON PRINCE. UNTIL...

...DRAGON PRINCE BOOK 4....WHEN?

CLEARLY THIS IS A TEASER FOR WHAT’S NEXT TO COME FOR THE SERIES. EVEN THOUGH A SEASON FOUR HASN’T OFFICIALLY BEEN ANNOUNCED. OVERALL, I’M READY. THE STORY NEEDS TO CONTINUE AND WHAT I’M CURIOUS ABOUT IS WHAT ELSE IS THERE FOR TDP TO UNFOLD.

I MEAN, WE STILL HAVE MORE OF XADIA TO EXPLORE. WE STILL HAVE MORE ELF SPECIES TO ENCOUNTER. WE STILL HAVE TO GET RUNAAN BACK FROM VIREN AND REUNITE HIM WITH HIS HUSBANDO.

MORE IMPORTANTLY...AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO FEELS AS IF VIREN ALSO HAS RAYLA’S PARENTS TOO?

I KNOW RAYLA SAID THEY WERE BANISHED BUT...I CAN’T REMEMBER IF THEY WERE CONFIRMED TO STILL BE ALIVE?

I KNOW RAYLA SAID THAT RUNAAN AND TINKER (HIS REAL NAME ESCAPES ME RIGHT NOW, SORRY) RAISED HER AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO HER PARENTS. BUT...ARE RAYLA’S PARENTS ALIVE? DID VIREN CAPTURE THEM LIKE RUNAAN?

Overall---okay I’m done screeching now----but OVERALL, this was another great season. I might even go as far to say that Season 3 is TDP’s BEST SEASON yet. I REALLY REALLY LOVED this season and I’m looking forward to rewatching it again in my recap of the whole series.

I feel as if this is the end of an Arc. Zym has been returned to his mother but the threat of Aaravos still looms on the horizon. So I think it’s safe to say that the Ozymondias Arc of the Dragon Prince story is complete and what’s next will probably be the Aaravos Arc. Another three seasons perhaps?

Either way, I’m excited to see what’s next for TDP. Words cannot describe how much I LOVE this series with its amazing story and AMAZINGLY WELL-WRITTEN CHARACTERS. I can’t wait to see what comes for the next arc. Looking forward to it when it comes out. In the meantime, that’s all I gotta say.

Dragonic Musings: One more thing about The Dragon Prince Season 3...

I’ve been hearing that around the Dragon Prince fandom that folks don’t like Nyx and that disappoints me cause...I like Nyx 83c I found her character to be so cool.

Sure she stole Zym and left Rayla and Callum out to die in a desert by themselves...but...

She’s also the reason Rayllum got together-together. Not to mention that Nyx kind ships Rayllum too. You saw the way she was egging them together. Nyx knows what’s up! Besides, I actually do find Nyx to be as charming as she says she is and I stan her very, very much. How could you not love this thieving Sky Bandit!

“...It’s because I’m charming, right? Despite it all you can’t help but like me?”

YES! You ridiculously likeable character, you >U<)/

While I didn’t get any new Elven Daddies for TDP Book 3, I did find another Elven Best Girl for Book 3.

Dragonic Musings: A Squiggle Meister’s Blunt Ramblings about The Dragon Prince S2.

So I just wrapped up watching S2 of The Dragon Prince and I’m going to be blunt:

///SPOILERS FOR THE DRAGON PRINCE S2 AHEAD///

#1: How is it that this series is able to fit so much into just 9 episodes without feeling rushed? It tells a lot needed for the season but still leaves enough to keep me wanting more episodes. The writing in this series is sooo good.

#2: Queen Anya, you go girl! I actually clapped for this character. This girl don’t play. Your queen mommas didn’t birth no fool. I also loved how they handled the backstory about the three queens; three mothers who went down as legends fighting to aid their kingdoms and their people. I don’t know how the LGBT community is going to react to TDP’s representation with the two queens. The last time we got a Netflix series created by people who originally worked on A:TLA and had same-sex lovers who died, it wasn’t well-received. So for what it’s worth, I hope there wasn’t any backlash of any kind.

The Dragon Prince thus far has been really good with handling its diverse cast of characters and the storytelling for this show is as sweet as a jumbo jelly tart. It’s that good. At least to me.

#3: Whoever creates the artwork used in the credits for The Dragon Prince---I love you. I mean, the whole production team at Wonderstorm and cast of this series has my love but I wanted to spot light the credits artist because I love how TDP adds a little something extra in the credits.

#4: Can someone please free the precious Strawberry Boi? His captivity for S1 was cute but now in S2, he needs to be set free. Free him.

#5: Speaking of Strawberry Boy, dear The Dragon Prince, how many husbandos are you going to keep giving me? I mean you already gave me Runaan, Strawberry Boy, Ezran’s new smexilious bodyguard---a beautiful chocolate man, yes. Loving all these wonderful flavours of husbandos that TDP is spoiling me with, yes and yes. But I already had my hands full with the beautiful husbandos we got from Book 1. Now after Book 2, there is Aaravos and might I say…HOT DIGGITY GIGGITY DAMN! Aaravos, you can whisper in my ear through a magical purple worm headset any day. It’s bad enough that he’s another sexy elf husbando (why) but his voice---oh my stars, his voice. His voice slicker than melted caramel drizzling on ice-cream. I should not like this man…but I do. I GIGGITY DIGGITY DIG THIS DUDE! How can one so evil be so fine? Why you do this to me, TDP?

#6: All things considered, I’m happy to see that Viren has found himself a new man after King Harrow. Good for you! Not good for everybody else but good for you Viren.

#7: Claudia, Claudia, Claudia…I do not hate this girl. As a Rayllum shipper, I understand that Claudia is a thorn in my ship however, that being said, I don’t hate Claudia. As a matter of fact, I want nothing but happiness for my lil witchy girl. I see her going down a dark path that I do not like. No Claudia, you too dorky and pure for the dark side girl. Don’t be like your daddy! I would say Soren needs to save his sister but he need saving too. They both need saving. Can someone adopt these two, please? Can someone GOOD adopt them? I want Claudia and Soren to abandon their dad and just go on their own journey to find their mother. Can that be their story for S3 please? Can we just have Claudia and Soren go find their mother, please. I’m worried for Claudia. She straight up Bambi’s mother that poor deer with magic. Yes she did it to help her brother but, this left me curious about something.

What if, Soren’s rehabilitation is only temporary? What if Claudia will have to keep stealing magic from living things to keep her brother from returning to his own paralysis while damning herself in the process? While that would be good for developing Claudia and Soren’s bond, I don’t want to see this because…I don’t want to see Claudia fall into the same path as her father. However…I think that’s what is being set up and I am worried. My dorky villainous children!

#8: I liked how they handled explaining death to children. That was great how they made that nice parallel between King Harrow telling Callum about his mom and Callum essentially trying to tell Ez about his father. I don’t think Harrow is dead though. His soul is in the green bird isn’t he? The same green bird that got away and will probably meet up with Ez in S3. Cannot wait.

#9: I felt a little bad for Bait this season. It looked almost as if Ezran had replaced him with Zym. It wasn’t like that at all since Ez was only trying to raise Zym. But at least we got to see Bait bond with Callum. That was sweet.

#10: Zym and Ez share a psychic link?! What the what? Okay, we going full Eragon up in this bitch. Okay. I dig it. It’s a way to keep Ez connected to Zym and essentially Callum and Rayla.

#11: As sad as I am to see Ezran go. As much as I’m sad to see the dream team---the dragonic trio split, my pathetic giant Rayllum shipping heart is performing cartwheels and summersaults right now.

Rayla and Callum are going to be travelling alone together (with Zym) for a whole season eh? How perfect ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Especially after that little confession moment from Rayla with Callum. I’m loving where this is going. I’m loving where they’re taking Rayla in terms of her growing ties to Callum. I’m just waiting for our dear boy to catch up.

According to Callum in C2 (I think), he and Rayla aren’t there yet. But fear not, I’m a patient shipper so I shall wait. But boy did I enjoy those little Rayllum breadcrumbs. They be delicious. I ate good for this season. RWBY take notes for RoseGarden.

But yeah, I think that’s it for my thoughts on TDP S2. I enjoyed this season. I had planned on watching it half and half but as soon as I got through the first 4-5 episodes, I couldn’t put it down. I ended up watching the full 9 in one sitting this morning.

To my friends who told me I would love S2, you were right. I did. I am looking forward to seeing how far this story goes. More and more layers to the world of TDP is being brought in and I’m interested to see where it will take the fans. I hope there is going to be a S3 and I hope that it will be a routine where we get a new season once every year. But we’ll see.

Overall, I can’t wait.

To be fair squiggles, we don't know any of the events to come so it's best not to throw everything out the window. Don't assume everything gone right now. We're going on dragon ball time with this. I'd say stay hopeful because if its the longest volume, despite everything taking place in 1-2 days, they can still add plenty within that time span.

I know they can Key but…it still doesn’t stop it from feeling weird to me in regards to time and pacing. I don’t understand why the CRWBY Writers felt the need to have everything crammed into the span of a few days as opposed to allowing the PLOT to expand for a longer period.

I guess the reason why I’m having difficulty being 100% okay with this decision is due to the fact that I honestly feel like the CRWBY Writers are sort of rushing things at this point.

Ever since the events of V5, I’ve had this odd inkling that the CRWBY Writers have been on this odd path of “wanting to have their cake and eat it…without actually putting in the required effort it will take to make that cake as good as it could be”, y’know what I mean?

It’s the reason why certain plot developments---such as Oscar’s integration into the hero team, Ruby’s growth into the a full-fledged Silver Eyed Warrior---fell short for me since the writers didn’t provide enough time and focus within the PLOT for me to feel the full impact of certain things they were trying to do.

And I guess the core reason why I’m so disheartened by this news was that I was honestly hoping that they would’ve learned from the past seasons and actually taken the chance to use V8 to slow things down a bit and allow the characters, as well as the audience, more time to see things play out.

And what bothers me even more is that they did have a chance to lengthen the story and instead of taking their time, they double down again. The only way this is going to make sense to me is if it really is if time for V8 is operating on “Dragon Ball” time like you said.

I’ve never watched DBZ so forgive me if I’m unfamiliar with the reference you talked about. I wouldn’t have minded it too much if the timeline was 2 months or even 2 weeks. It doesn’t matter what they do---I’m not going to feel the believability of the impact of those events because it happened in such a short space of time, y’know what I mean?

Like for example, in the case of Oscar being presumed dead and the group learning of his death and that being used to have them rethink their actions towards Ironwood since arriving in Atlas---perhaps even lending to certain members realizing how much the little prince meant to them (like Ruby or Jaune)---am I really supposed to buy into the impact of this development happening in the span of just 1-2 days? It’s kind of like yes…but at the same time, not really, y’know what I’m saying?

The only way I can buy into this working is if the CRWBY Writers literally pull an Avenger’s Endgame in the very first episode of V8.

Imagine if…RWBY V8 kicks off with the heroes learning of Qrow and Robyn being captured and taken up to Atlas Prison and immediately we’re thrust head first into the rescue mission.

Despite barely escaping before, upon learning of her uncle’s imprisonment along with Oscar being left behind, Ruby leads her team back into huntsmen academy to quickly rescue their captured comrades upon the brink of Salem’s arrival.

Imagine if…just like with the start of Avenger’s Endgame, in the very first episode of V8, Ruby and the group learn of Oscar’s “death” at Ironwood’s hand before everything cuts to black and the actual story for V8 starts off after a small time jump.

I wouldn’t mind so much if V8 took place over the course of 1-2 days if it were after a small time jump like what they did back in V6. The events of V6 took place over the course of 4 days AFTER a time jump of 2 weeks. So if the events of V8 took place over the course of 2 days AFTER let’s say another time jump of about one week then I’d be okay with that.

It would also be interesting if our heroes learnt of Oscar’s death in the very first episode and part of the volume was them dealing with the impact of his death on their team while simultaneously working towards stopping Salem and saving Atlas Kingdom.

It’ll be like how the group had to pick themselves upon after Ozpin’s isolation and departure, only this time it’ll be them dealing with Oscar’s “depature”.

What would even be interesting is if Oscar’s death is treated almost like a taboo within the group. Almost like they’re not allowed to talk about him or rather…discuss him around certain characters within the team; particularly the former RNJR squad who were impacted the most and are all dealing with it in their own way.

I like this concept because it makes me imagine a scenario where Ruby acts indifferent---almost disconnected---over Oscar’s death---like everyone expects her to be the most affected since out of everyone, she more or less shared the closet connection to Oscar yet here she was acting as if his death meant nothing to her---when in reality, Ruby was treating Oscar’s death the same way she treated her mother’s death as a child; as recognized by Yang.

Almost like a seven stages of grief sort of thing---like how do you deal with the news of the loss of a friend and be allowed to actually feel for their loss when the end of the world is happening around you and you’re the person everyone looks to for guidance and encouragement type of deal. I want Oscar’s death and Ruby’s reaction to his death to unearth and lead into Ruby’s repressed feelings and dealings with her mother’s death since that’s something I’ve been waiting for the story to deal with for a while and V7 left me hopeful.

When I look at it from that perspective, perhaps the 1-2 days ordeal isn’t actually as bad as I originally pegged it to be.

I can probably still get some of Pinehead headcanons coming true but…only if it’s done the way I described---with the CRWBY Writers taking a page from Endgame and having the heroes realized they had failed from episode one and the rest of the story dealing with them licking their wounds while trying to search for a solution in the wake of beloved friends being gone.

Like imagine Jaune basically pulling a Hawkeye/Ronin as a result of Oscar’s “death” since technically, Oscar would be the second time Jaune failed to be there for a teammate/friend---allowing them to go off on their own to their deaths.

So for now, I’m going to look at it like this---I’ll be okay with the 1-2 days’ timeline for RWBY V8 IF in the very first episode, the CRWBY Writers establish our heroes flying back to Atlas to rescue Qrow, Robyn and Oscar only for them to discover in THE VERY FIRST EPISODE that Ironwood had “killed” Oscar and…the chapter ends with the group officially leaving Atlas---probably even watching it be fully taken over by Salem.

Then when we go into Episode 2, just like Endgame, the “true story” begins after a small time jump---during which the audience learns that our heroes had taken refuge down in the remnants of Mantle; working side by side with the Happy Huntresses who had humbly welcomed them into their secret hideout upon Robyn’s request as gratitude for saving her.

Yeahhhhh….that’s better. I like that better. But, it’s only a small idea. I guess we’ll see for V8. For now, I think I’m going to hold onto my hope for Oscar’ death impacting the group if it’s done like Endgame. That’s how I’m going to see it for now.

Sometimes I get frustrated with how little Rosegarden we get and then I remember Renora and Bumbleby who have been in development for 7 volumes now and still aren’t walk you call canon compared to other fandoms and by that I mean with declarations of love that are explicit and can’t be interpreted any other way . Looks we gardeners still have a long way to go 😔

…Hey now, at least the Bees and the Renora shippers are getting some food this season. Especially the Bees. I have to say that the CRWBY are really spoiling the Bees for this season but I’m concerned that the way they’ve been pushing the Bees might still rub folks the wrong way.

If I may say something about the Bumblebee ship (and not get blasted), while having them interact more and share more little moments in between scenes is cute, it’s still…not…exactly development, at least in my opinion. I mean it’s something and it’s better than nothing, am I right?

But if Blake and Yang are indeed going in that romantic ‘friends to lovers’ direction, I think it would be nicer if we got some moments of them actually talking to one another, expressing their true feelings about everything that’s going on around them both with all the political drama between Mantle and Atlas and even within their group with their whole withholding the truth from the General debacle.

Interactions like that are what can really solidify a pair, especially for fans who look for that kind of stuff in the writing of the show as part of complimenting the pair. But then again, this is only my opinion and I’m not a Bee shipper so it’s probably not my place to give my opinion on the treatment of the ship within the series.

As for my beloved delicate little Rosegarden pair….whelp if romance is in the cards for these two then I guess a slowburn is the only thing us gardeners can savour for the moment.

That being said, I can’t help but also make the point that—here I am looking at Rosegarden who have been on more or less of a slow burn for the past three volumes at 13 episodes a pop and there’s still more to come from this pair.

But also, I can’t help but look over at Wonderstorm with The Dragon Prince who had Rayllum who’ve known each other for the same amount of seasons as Rosegarden at 9 episodes a pop and when I compare the two side by side I just shed a long tear on the inside because Wonderstorm really spoiled us Rayllum shippers with its recent season and gave us enough shipping provisions to last us till whenever S4 decides to drop it like its hotter than Aaravos.

Meanwhile I’m looking over at RoosterTeeth and the CRWBY who have been so stinge-y this season with us Pineheads, Rosegardeners and RosegardeningPineheads that it’s not even funny anymore. It’s just sad XD

Especially when they started off so goshdarndiggity promising and then they forgot to water the Rosegarden us for TWO WHOLE EPISODES!

I can only hope that whenever the Writers do decide to possibly push for Rosegarden that they are just as LOUD with them as they are with Bumblebee and Renora this season. ESPECIALLY BUMBLEBEE!

SERIOUSLY CRWBY, WHERE IS THE FOOD FOR THE ROSEGARDEN? I FEEL LIKE FREAKING AUDREY II FROM LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS!

JUST PICTURE ME AS A GIANT TALKING ROSE-SHAPED PLANT SCREECHING “FEED ME” AT THE CRWBY WRITERS!

RWBY Remarks: True Talk...

It’s weird. On one end, I’m one foot in the corner of

“I really can’t wait for November 2nd to get here cause I’m super duper over the moon hyped for RWBY V7!”

But on the other hand, there’s that part of me that’s also rather nervous for this upcoming season in terms of the writing and handling of the characters for V7.

Yes I want the new season to come out this year as mentioned at RTX 2019, HOWEVER, if the CRWBY end up pushing RWBY to early 2020 in the event that they may definitely NEED the extra time, I wouldn’t mind that either.

Because at the end of the day, as an on-going fan of RWBY, I just want the CRWBY to make V7 the best season of RWBY with as little stress on them as possible. For V7, I want them to tell a better continuing story with the characters that they have and allow each character’s arc to help shape the events of the plot for that season.

Yes I want V7 to finally dethrone V3 but at the same time, I want the CRWBY to put out their best work. Best animation. Best writing overall with some very great development and focus for all the characters; especially the ones who could use it at the moment (*coughsOscarcoughs*).

So yeah, I want V7 to come out on November 2nd but at the same time, if RWBY V7 ends up being pushing to like January 2020 instead giving the CRWBY an entire year to work on the season instead of the usual few months then I wouldn’t mind that either.

As a matter of fact, I’m looking at the brightside of this---if RWBY V7 comes out in early 2020, it’ll be right there next to The Dragon Prince Book 3. Good shit. But that’s just an assumption. For now, we can only see in time.

Do you guys remember my RWBY Musing #71? Remember a time I shared a theory about Oscar basically becoming RWBY’s version of the Golden Cap and gaining the power to control the Winged Beringels created by Salem?

Whelp…it’s back! I’ve had this nagging idea swimming in my head for the longest while and last night, I finally got around to squiggling a little concept rough sketch of it. As I said, I’ve talked about Oscar turning Salem’s winged Beringels against her before. Now I’ve taken that idea a step further in the sense of, what if…Oscar doesn’t just relinquish control of the Winged Beringels from Salem but changes them entirely.

Imagine if…Oscar somehow purifies these Beringel Grimm, transforming them from creatures of darkness to creatures of light. For the sake of this headcanon of mine, I dub these creatures of light as the ‘Creatures of Luxx’. It’s a play on the word Lux which is Latin for ‘light’. The idea I have is that Oscar creatures the Luxx through purifying the Grimm.

We know that the God of Darkness used his powers to first create the Grimm. I find it fascinating that there is creation in darkness since the Darkness used his creations to destroy his brothers. Just as how there is destruction in light since the Silver Eyed Warriors, who are believed to possess the eyes of the God of Light, use their light to preserve life by destroying the Grimm who are creations of darkness. I just find that bit fascinating.

Anyways; since Oscar has a bit of God of Light’s power within him, what if… it was possible for him to…I dunno, make his own creations through the use of light magic? And his first test of this is by creating the Luxx from the Grimm?

Up until this point, the Grimm have mostly been treated as fodder. Their entire purpose is to destroy since that’s been in their programming from birth. But what if there is a semblance of humanity to the Grimm somehow. Somehow I’m imagining a How to Train Your Dragon moment with Oscar and one of the Winged Beringels he managed to turn to his side.

I really would love to see Oscar take control of the Winged Beringels from Salem since it’ll be such a nice call back to the Wizard of Oz. In that story, the Winged Monkeys were actually cursed creatures controlled by an artifact known as the Golden Cap. The Winged Monkeys were bound to serve whoever possessed the Cap for a period of three times. At some point, the Wicked Witch of the West gets a hold of the Cap and used the Monkeys to take over Oz.

At some point Dorothy Gale also uses the Cap, calling upon the monkeys’ aid during her remaining adventures in Oz. Till finally the Cap is handed to Glinda the Good Witch who used to cap to free the monkeys of their curse.

I think it would be great if the CRWBY Writers take advantage of this idea from the Oz story for Oscar. In the Wizard of Oz, the Golden Cap is described as studded with real sparkling diamonds and precious blood red rubies that ran entirely around the caps 24 karat solid gold brim. The Cap is made of gold hence the name. Who in Ruby alludes to this more than Oscar? You can’t get more golden than Oscar Pine. His first name literally alludes to gold. The Golden Cap was a magical artifact. Oscar is a reincarnation of an ancient being who possessed magical powers that Oscar has yet to tap into. This is a chance for the Writers to use this to push Oscar’s character.

We’ve seen Salem use her magic to create the Grimm. So if she can do that, then what’s stopping Oscar from using his magic to change the Grimm. To use his light to cleanse the Grimm of their darkness and turn them from beasts of destruction to creatures of preservation.

Yes I know this Pinehead headcanon is a mighty big stretch however…c’mon that could be so freaking cool if turned canon. At least it’s cool to me.

Canon or not, for now this squiggle meister will stick to using the Luxx in my own RWBY art and projects. I’m sharing this concept sketch since the Creatures of Luxx will be featured in my Bouquet of Roses. To further play off my theory, the Luxx Beringel is an early concept for Oscar’s steed and animal companion. A Luxx named Al, short for Alpha (and a call back to Fullmetal Alchemist) who is the King of the Winged Beringel Luxx who serve the Golden Rose.

The idea I have with this is that in the Bouquet universe, Oscar isn’t just our handsome prince of the Golden Yellow Rose but also a powerful magi and the Luxx are his creations. For all my ole school Sakura Cardcaptors fans, remember how Clow Reed was this super powerful wizard who created the Clow Cards?

Well picture Oscar being like that where the Luxx are his pets born from his power. I’d like to think of the Luxx as a less gruesome and grotesque-looking versions of their Grimm counterparts. For this rough sketch, I mainly just wanted to test the palette for the Luxx. I based it off the God of Light’s colour scheme from the Lost Fable considering that the Luxx are made of light born through the same magic that was bestowed to Ozma (and essentially Oscar) by said brother God.

Now that I’m satisfied with the colours, I’d actually love to design the Luxx. I want them to be the same as their Grimm opposites yet still possess something about their appearance that sets them apart. The Luxx are meant to be the Yang to the Grimm just as how the God of Light contrasts his brother so perfectly; even in their dragon forms.

When I think of the Luxx, I picture them being exactly like my squiggle sketch in colour---mystical creatures made of pure light that gleams gold. While the Grimm have red eyes and red markings, for the Luxx I wanted them to have green eyes with a hint of gold at the centre and green markings; a trait they share in common with their master and creator---Oscar Pine (whose eyes are hazel) to further push the notion that they are an extension of Oscar and his magic. I initially thought it would’ve been cool to have to Luxx have black masks to contrast the Grimm but I scrapped that idea in favour of the shared white masks. Who knows? I might bring it back in the refined version, perhaps.

Another reason why I wish for the Luxx to differ from the Grimm is because I don't want them to be confused for Summons. With the Schnees, the Grimm Summons are basically the same Grimm just recoloured white with blue makings to match the Schnees. I really don’t wish for anyone to denounce this idea of mine by saying that Oscar doesn’t need to have such a power when Weiss can do that. At least I can make the argument that Oscar having such a power ties into the fairy-tale he was inspired by. I never quite understood the need to give Weiss summoning abilities when she’s already pretty powerful with her Glyphs already. Heck I think that was even one of the complaints with her character by the FNDM but…here we are.

Unlike Weiss who can only summon a Grimm after she’s killed it, the idea I have for this is that Oscar creates the Luxx himself. The Grimm are more monstrous in appearance to match their destructive nature. I wish for the Luxx to contrast this. With the Luxx, the idea is for them is to look like purified versions of the Grimm we've come to know---whimsical and majestic in nature.

How that's gonna looks. Whelp, that’s for me to play around with and decide for myself since it’s my idea. But at least for now, this is a good starting building block. The only way I can elaborate on this idea further is do designs for Luxx versions of certain Grimm. I can safely say that there will be at least three Grimm turned Luxx featured for the Bouquet of Roses; starting with the Winged Beringel.

Come to think of it, this idea is starting to give me flashbacks to Sakura’s arc where she had to be powerful enough magically to turn the original Clow Cards created by Clow Reed into Sakura Cards. Imagine Oscar needing to become stronger magically as a means of successfully taking control of the Grimm from Salem, turning them into his Luxx. That could be a cool plot point for him.

Buuut like I said, I mainly plan on using this concept for my Bouquet of Roses and any other RWBY-related fan-project I might consider doing down the line. But it’s definitely an idea I wouldn’t mind seeing canon due to its strong reference to the Wizard of Oz.

Princess Ozma was a powerful magician. She was even stronger than the Wizard of Oz as its true ruler. Since the Wizard was Ozpin’s inspiration and Ozma is Oscar’s, how can I not expect great and powerful things from this young freckled farm boy? I’ve even thought of another cool way this Luxx idea of mine could be used in the canon series.

Besides the Winged Beringels, remember the Grimm Dragon? We know that back in V3, when the Grimm Dragon appeared it brought fought hordes of Grimm in its wake. This Grimm literally oozes other Grimm and since then I have yet to see another Grimm with such an ability to spawn more Grimm. That being said, with this theory of mine, it’s given me an idea. We know that as of V3, the Grimm Dragon is still pretty much alive. We know that Ruby’s Silver Eyes didn’t kill the Grimm Dragon; only petrified it.

If Oscar is indeed destined to become the RWBY equivalent of the Golden Cap and will somehow awaken the power to transform the Creatures of Grimm into the Creatures of Luxx, then picture this Pineheads. Imagine if…Oscar turns the Grimm Dragon into a Luxx Dragon; capable of creating more Luxx for Oscar to command. Therefore Oscar will gain a full army of Luxx through taming the former Grimm Dragon as opposed to allowing Ruby to finish it off with her power. Oscar Pine can straight up Daenerys Targaryen this bitch and become the Lord of the Luxx.

My fellow Pineheads, picture our boy going from a simple farm boy to a little prince and then finally to a King of Light leading his full grown army of Luxx against the hordes of Grimm while riding on the back of a mighty Luxx Dragon.

That sounds so freaking cool and it’ll depicts another cool way Oscar can be made into the great and powerful character he is destined to become! But, as much as I’d love to see this done in the canon, the possibility of this coming to fruition in main series RWBY might not be so high. At least in the sense that I don’t want to have too many expectations for Oscar’s character from the CRWBY Writers in the event of disappointment.

For all we know, the CRWBY Writers are more likely to have Weiss finish off the Grimm Dragon and turn her into the Daenerys Targaryen of RWBY with the Grimm Dragon becoming another one for her to Summon. She even has the hair for it so I can see that being more canonical than Oscar the King of the Luxx.

I’d still love to hold onto this idea for safe keeping though just like my other Pinehead headcanon that Oscar is reincarnation of Ozma’s original form in modern Remnant making him the one true Ozma. Like that one, I love this idea too much to let it go to waste. Hence why it’ll be featured in my squiggly fan-projects. Anyways, I’ve talked enough about this. Just wanted to share this for the Bouquet.
