Does that mean neo 3 (who was supposed to be the original agent 3) has to realize that their boss is literally half their age, and probably scolding everyone for letting a TEEN be captain

And now I'm thinking about agent 8 and four swapping places now

If that happens it could be that 8 is just pretending to be an inkling (doing a poor job but somehow still getting away with it)

so I'm actually gonna get back to you on what's up with Ghost (og agent 3) in this au in a later post, but your idea of 4 and 8 swapping made me go kinda feral.

I think for this au, Marie would be less into the idea of finding another child to solve society's problems and instead attempted to hunt down Octavio herself. It didn't exactly work out, but she DID find a soldier who was inclined towards leaving the army and helping get back Callie. (That would be Harbor AKA agent 8)

As for Nettie (agent 4), I wasn't really sure at first how to fit him into octo expansion. It felt weird taking the "octo" out of it, yknow? However, I remembered that I have some beloved OCs I can jam in there with her. So everyone welcome back Storm, except this time as a kid around Leo(og neo 3, the child craig picked up. this is getting confusing do you see why i'm using their names)'s age

Nettie mistakes Leo and Craig for police or government officials coming after them and starts a fight. It goes. Interestingly.

I'm probably gonna make a more in-depth post about what happens in octo expansion regarding Leo getting potentially sanitized and all the trauma inflicted on Storm, and then eventually make a post about how Ghost ends up against Grizz, but we'll get there when we get there. Thank you so much for this ask! As you can see it really inspired me.

Despite being a lower rank than canon Army and his teammates are still good at predicting their opponents and have earned themselves quotes a few wins because of it

Then Bobble Hat comes in in all her chaotic unpredictable glory 

As mentioned before she’s a wildcard nobody not even her teammates know what she’ll do next 

In the blue and orange teams’ first battle in the corocoro cup Army is convinced that he’s got Bobble figured out and therefore secured a victory for his team 

Oh how wrong he was 

Not only did the orange team lose, but every single observation and educated guess he made about Bobble was completely wrong! If anything, she seemed to do the exact opposite of what he expected! 

While Goggles was going on his usual talk about “That was so much fun!” “You guys seem really strong!” and “Let’s do this again sometime after the tournament!” All Army could think about was how Bobble hat could have possibly bested him 

And thus begins a rivalry that Bobble is blissfully unaware of 

I imagine that it’d become a running gag that Army would constantly challenge Bobble Hat at something only for her to come out on top. Every. Single. Time. 

So while Army is plotting Bobble’s downfall she’s just living her best life and thinks that the orange team’s captain does these fun little games and challenges all the time with everyone

As time goes on and character development begins to settle in he eventually loosens up and lets himself become friends with Bobble

Pearl Houzuki(octoling, she/her): Normal role. Uses an Inkbrush. Was formerly an Octoweapon with "sonic amplification powers" known as 17839 that escaped after the events of Octo Valley. Was found by Marina on Mount Nantai, and was taken in by a loving single father after a bit. Apparently has a “lab-bro” who is assumed to be a fellow Octoweapon. CURRENT STATUS: ALIVE, ON TOUR.

Marina Ida (inkling, she/her): Normal role. Uses a Splatling. Was a huge tech geek in her youth. Was a key helper in getting Pearl to open up to Inkling society. Still maintains the chat rooms for the Agents. CURRENT STATUS: ALIVE, ON TOUR.

Cephalopunks

Callie(inkling, she/her): Takes the role of Shiver. Uses a Roller. Was given the title of Agent 1 by her grandfather in her youth, but has never acted against the brainwashed Octarians in combat. However, that doesn't mean she doesn't help them once they're free from the brainwashing. She's good friends with their band's head of security, after all...

Marie (inkling, she/her): Takes the role of Frye. Uses a Charger. Was given the title of Agent 2 by her grandfather, but like her cousin, prefers to focus on helping the formerly brainwashed rather than fighting the currently brainwashed. She's good at recognizing those with trauma, hence her concern for the third member of the Cephalopunks...

"Wasa-B" (octarian, he/him): Takes the role of Big Man. No one's ever seen what he looks like (save his bandmates) but Wasa-B is renowned for his impeccable skill at DJing. It's like he's been practicing for over half a century. Who knows? He apparently doesn't. Something messed with his memory recall, and every time he is asked about it, he goes silent before mumbling about "dark... can't think... clean...", and the other band members have to snap him out of his daze...

Non-Idols

Agent 3/Avery(inkling, he/him): Normal role. Non-verbal. CURRENT STATUS: ALIVE, IN ALTERNA

Senior Advisor Craig Cuttlefish(he/him): Normal role. He’s one of the most knowledgeable on the ongoing fight against the Octarian army, alongside Big Man. Though before the first fight against the Emperor in 1, he assumed Octavio was in control. He was wrong. CURRENT STATUS: UNKNOWN

Emperor Henrique Sequiera of the Manta Clan(manta ray, he/him): Takes the role of DJ Octavio. Scarred, strong, and secretly unsure about his role as leader. Has stolen the Great Zapfish twice, and has gotten his butt kicked for it both times. CURRENT STATUS: UNKNOWN

Fay Keon(presumed Octoling, they/them): Henrique’s seemingly loyal second in command. Seems to have something up their sleeve, but no one knows what they have planned. (Was secretly the one who created Pearl and her “lab-bro”.) Has no morals. CURRENT STATUS: UNKNOWN

Agent 6/Quinn(inkling, she/her): Takes the role of Agent 4. Has hyperlexia. CURRENT STATUS: ALIVE, IN ALTERNA (assists Neo 3)
