something something the Corinthian is a reflection of the worst of humanity, and in a way heโ€™s also a the worst of Dream. heโ€™s petty, cruel, he can chase someone he holds a grudge against to the ends of the earth. in hell, when Lucifer insults Dream, he leans in, smiling, and twists the metaphorical knife. the Corinthian smiles when he kisses his victims.
the Corinthian wants, follows every impulse without shame where Dream denies himself every desire, out of a pride that conceals pain and shame over the loss of his son, his wife, a string of lovers who fell out of love as quickly as he fell into it. the Corinthian is charming, seductive where Dream is awkward, the smooth clean cut of bone where Dream is ragged, falling apart. Dream denies himself everything, and so when he makes the Corinthian, sculpts him out of clay, the Corinthian is born starving, and no amount of flesh or blood will ever sate him. and yet, in a way, he loves Dream, hungers for his approval- how can he not? heโ€™s carved from him, like eve from adams rib. how can he not cry when Dream unmakes him?
