Totally Youthful Tuesday
Tumblr media
I’m going to start with something that sorta has little to do with what’s in the book. But, the author of this book is the actress who played Maria for so many years on Sesame Street. That is so cool. The book is just as awesome too though!
Mami has brought home a roast for Christmas dinner (quite the feast). The problem, it’s too big to fit in their oven. And so José and Papa set out door to door to see if they can find an oven big enough for their roast.
It’s the coolest book about family, community, and Christmas spirit (both having it or helping someone find it). In addition to the really touching story, I really liked the art too. The only way I can think to describe the art was that it had a whimsy that fit perfectly with the story. A really fun read.

“What’s the Name of That Song?” was written by Sam Pottle and David Axlerod. It first appeared in 1974, in season 6 of Sesame Street. The song has been performed many times since then, usually performed by an ensemble.
The first instance of the song follows the residents of Sesame Street as they try to figure out what a song stuck in their heads is. The song starts with David (Northern Calloway), who is then joined by Bob (Bob McGrath), then Susan (Loretta Long) and Gordon (Roscoe Orman) come out and ask what the song is. Maria (Sonia Manzano) then starts singing the song and is accosted by the others asking what it is. Bert (Frank Oz) and Herry Monster (Jerry Nelson) say they know the name of the song, but they do not. Luis (Emilio Delgado) then comes out to ask what the song is (in Spanish). Then Oscar (Caroll Spinney) pops up to ask what the song is and complain. The Count (Jerry Nelson) then adds to the few remembered lyrics. Mr. Macintosh (Chet O’Brien) appears with his fruit stand to join the group. Mr. Hooper (Will Lee) asks what the name of the song is. And the ensemble walks off saying different songs, leaving David to finish the number.

"Spinney recalled that Hunt, at times, “would tease Jim to the point where it was embarrassing. Jim would walk across the set, and Richard would say out loud in front of me, ‘Here comes that rich bastard millionaire. ’ I don’t know why he would say stuff like that. Sometimes my wife and I would look at him and say, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ ”"
Ok honestly probably my favorite antecdote abt him in the book like what a fuck shit stirrer but also poor caroll n Debra i relate to them bc ive been witness to similar shit
"It was nothing under-handed. In fact, it was always open and out there, and always with a certain amount of humor. If you came to the show with any whiff of ego at all, with an attitude that you could be as funny as any of those other guys, he would tear you apart.

“Richard loved musical theater,” Robinson said, “and when he learned that I was doing something" [audrey ii ] "that was totally separate from the Muppets, something that he totally appreciated, that was when I started to be okay. It helped that my girlfriend at the time was Ellen Greene, who was the star of Little Shop. He adored her, as we all did, and he and Ellen went on to become very close.”
Also so funny imagine your girlfriend becoming besties w a dude who was pretty dickish to you (n a lot of others)
"It was art imitating life, as the puppeteer had as big a crush on Sonia Manzano as Snuffy did on Maria. “I was able to work out feelings through Snuffy,” Robinson said. “They wrote some really nice scripts about lovelorn Snuffy, and it wasn’t much of a stretch for me to play. We all had crushes on her.”"
So relieved to know that my first crush was bewitching to everyone
