hi linda :) im going to a redwood forest this weekend and there'll be tons of mushrooms. i'm new to photography, and i was hoping you could give some tips for photographing mushrooms? thank you!!

But oh god, where to start... Well, firstly it depends what you're using for photography. Is it a phone camera or semi-pro/pro camera? If it's a camera, then what kind of lens do you have?

A lot of mushrooms tend to be on the small side, so the best thing would be to have macro lens for your camera or a clip on macro lens for your phone (I don't have one myself, though).

I don't have a fancy macro lens but I've been using a Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro lens for years that's both a telephoto and a macro lens. The only downside of it - I have to step back to take photos. The longer the lens, the longer the minimum shooting distance. So, if you use a phone or a lens that's, say 18-55mm, you can get really close to your object which also works very well for mushrooms. I find that some of the prettiest mushroom photos are taken from below when you can see the gills or the light making the cap transparent. You should be prepared to bend and crawl a lot. 😆 (Not photography related, but wear something you're not afraid to stain. Also - ticks. Be wary of those.)

If your equipment allows it, use large aperture. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture. Yes, it's weird like that. The larger the aperture, the more light is let in. F-stops of 1.4 to 5.6 are considered large apertures. A large aperture will give you a shallow depth of field (you know, when the object or only a part of it is in focus, but the background is all blurred out?). Luckily, mushrooms are small objects, so you don't necessarily need the largest aperture out there.

In my own experience, though, the coolest mushrooms (especially clusters of them) mock me and grow deep in the bushes or wherever I can't reach them/get close, so for such cases having a zoom lens can come in handy.

This is a recent pic I posted, taken with a Fujifilm hybrid (mirrorless) camera.

Not a mushroom, but still something small, taken with a Samsung phone (by my sister in law, not me, though).

Taken with a Nikon dslr, using the Tamron lens in its macro mode.

Taken with the same camera and lens, but using its telephoto mode (the mushrooms were located far from me).

I hope this helps at least a bit!

The stream was great cause we got the best of both worlds~

Bad started the stream with a reminder of his colourblindness (saying he was making a purple backpack but it's red), finding Pomme's book she gave him during the vacation to thank him for everything, begins his investigation and deduces the Philza could be captured, notes the seeming bird theme going on, drops a cool moment of 'They don't have cameras everywhere.... WE'RE the cameras...'

And then Boo appears and it just becomes a fun time with a lot less progress but a whole lot of fun with balloons, cakes, snowgolems, and Hatsune Miku! 😆❤ And Bad made sure to drop some more interesting ideas and observations along the way~

It's honestly so amazing to me that somehow I made it to 200 followers! You're all so sweet and I appreciate everyone that's taken the time to interact with my posts and I promise I have new stuff in the works that'll be released soon 😉

Keira is very sensitive, and feels the emotional weight of everything around her very intensely, channeling it into her art.

Joslyn Lancaster - Country Caretaker, Loves the Outdoors, Athletic, Glutton Joslyn is a very meat and potatoes kind of gal. She lives for the simple things in life, working the ranch, riding horses, and a good meal. Hi again! So, progress update (11.10.2022) 😊

We finally managed to sew a full top and bottom lingerie set for our Jnr Vi doll! Like, omg! Mwahahahaha!

I never imagined I would be sewing doll clothes. After a traumatic speed-run through 1 year of textile classes in Aussie High School (at about 14 years of age) I believed my sewing journey was over. I was told I wasn't very good at it. I had the one sewing machine that was extremely broken. I never managed to remember a thing from those classes, and even though I liked the idea of dress making, I never thought we'd get anywhere with it.

Lol, this has changed my life.

I haven't shown all of my terrible trials on this blog. But I have made a good 7-9 pairs of underwear (or... my system, us, has). One of them, until this pair, was actually salvageable / fit and didn't look hideous. But here we are! At something decently good.

I refused to use other peoples patterns. I'm guilty. I trialled pattern making and watched tutorials until I understood measurements and making patterns from those measurements. Glad wrap copying would not do. These are skills for my future.

And, I hand stitched them all too! I am so not good at sewing and I am so proud of these achievements!

And, sure, this isn't perfect. But I'll keep making more until they are. I have the pattern now! It's all about adjustments from here. So this is really a good spot I'd at. And it just makes me so happy! 😊

Okay might start sounding a lil crazy here lol BUT the more I think about it the more I think the short haired twin is Glenda and the long haired twin is Glen HEAR ME OUT:

This clip from the trailer, we see someone running, not like a "oh shit I gotta get away from my crazy murder family" run but more of a "get the fuck back here bitch so I can murder you" predatory type of run. And judging from the pink car in the corner and the way the person is dressed I feel like it's safe to say it's one of the twins, and from the way they are running I think it's most likely Glenda.

It's pretty difficult to tell BUT it doesn't really look like they have long hair?? Like it doesn't look like they have any hair flowing behind them as they run, it looks like they have a very close to their head type of haircut. ALSO

It's hard to tell but it looks like the twin on the left is wearing a purple jacket under their green thingy? Like you can see a jacket collar poking up from under it. Like these two clips could even be from the same day.

And I know the long haired twin is also wearing a purple jacket but 1) maybe they're matching cause they're twins or something and also 2) that jacket doesn't look as shiny?? Like it doesn't look to me like it's the same material as the running clip (which, hey, could be from a different day so trying to match it to an outfit could be pointless anyhow lolololol 😆😆😆)

But that's an earring right?? Like a big ass earring like they're wearing in that other pic

GRANTED the long haired twin might also have earrings that we just can't see from behind their hair, but still.

My main point is that from the outfit and way they're running that's most likely Glenda, and it looks like they have very short hair.
