Hi, Kensei anon! You raise a good point about Hisagi and Komamura having more personal and narrative beef with Tousen than Kensei, I didn't think of it that way. Although on that subject, it did annoy me when Kensei's teaching Hisagi how to reach bankai in some post-series material and when he insults Tousen Hisagi tells him he "has no right to talk bad about Tousen" like EXCUSE ME, young man?? He has every right! I know Hisagi looked up to Tousen but SHEESH.

LMAO I thought about mentioning that!!! But the ask had already gotten long and I’d gone on enough tangents (truly deserve a kudos for reading through my stream of consciousness, anon)

I remember that scene really sticking out in my last re-read because it shows how much Kensei and Hisagi DONT know each other.

Hisagi is a pretty respectful dude and I can’t imagine him saying that to Kensei’s face with the knowledge of what happened.

On one hand, a truly hilarious dynamic but also unfortunate we don’t get to see it fleshed out further. Maybe they will do a bit more work with Kensei in the anime, if only because he’s Hisagi’s captain and now CFYOW is published. I’d imagine they would want to pump interest that way. (Like perhaps a CFYOW OVA if not anime and/or manga?)

Can’t believe Kensei got turned into a zombie for the Gotei 13 when they won’t even let him do his first and last feature for the Seireitei Bulletin titled ‘I’m Glad My Division’s Previous Captain Died’.
