Stargate-Atlantis S4: E12 Spoils of War
Ronon being the best: who says you have to keep up?
Ronon jerking oblivious McKay out of the room so Sheppard can talk to Teyla cracked me up.
This episode is more about Teyla than anything. Yes, we have the discovery and destruction of the Wraith cloning facility. And we have a growing relationship with Todd, who is actually named in this episode. We find out he stole ZPMs from the Replicators, showing us he always has a plan within a plan.
But really, this is Teyla's struggling with her shifting priorities. She wants to keep doing what she's doing, wants to find her man, and thinks she can do that while pregnant. The beautiful part is that Ronon and Sheppard both address this from different angles. Ronon, for all his gruffness, addresses it gently telling Teyla she doesn't need to keep up.
John does this directly as a commander would. You can't endanger your child by getting beat, shot, or stunned.
Teyla is hurt and defensive. John tries to repair things by bringing her on a safe mission that is anything but safe.
Teyla puts her child at risk and almost loses him.
John doesn't hesitate and saves Teyla's baby. 😭
This episode confirms Sheppard's worries, and now Teyla understands. She finds herself both weaker and stronger.
I love that they didn't just throw Sheppard under the bus as if he's stupid. He had every reason to be angry at her and every reason not to take Teyla on missions. She finally sees this when she realizes she can no longer just sacrifice herself for Sheppard, McKay, and Ronon.
I love that they let Teyla wrestle with this but ultimately choose her child, ultimately understand what Sheppard's problem is, and understand Sheppard saw what she couldn't. It's just really great.

SGA: Be All My SIns Remembered
Okay, I'm going to jump into this, without preamble about the Stargate franchise, Stargate Atlantis, Replicators and so on.
This is the episode where the humans of Atlantis Base in the Pegasus Galaxy finally put paid to the Replicator menace which they had reactivated, and which was now annihilating human worlds in the galaxy.
So there's a space battle, which has all the explosions you need to see, lights, sounds, boom, the usual. And Doctor McKay, the lead scientist, activates a bomb which, long story short, blows up the Replicator planet with all the Replicators on it.
Bye by Replicators.
Now ... some questions.
The humans have beaming technology. Could the humans have beamed crews over to the vacated Replicator ships in orbit, taken them over, and got themselves a fleet of ships of Ancient design?
Before the planet blew up, every single Replicator was incapacitated. To tell the truth, they'd all been turned into a blob of silver liquid metal the size of Phobos on the surface of their planet.
So ... there was nothing stopping the humans, with their Asgard technology, beaming aboard a barrowload of the Replicators' Zero Point Modules, enough to power up a dozen of their Daedalus-class vessels - the Daedalus, the Apollo, the Hammond, and the Odyssey, among others.
So why was it up to the Warith to seize the initiative and do that in "Spoils of War"?

[SGA] 4.12: Spoils of War
Tumblr media
Previously on Atlantis... We killed the Replicator planet.
What happened?? Wait, what did Mr. Wraith want from the planet?
A ZPM?? Wait... mission??
Rodney is tracking our buddy??
John being overprotective... and a little bitter she didn’t tell him sooner.
Crap, this does not look good...
Oh, so now our Wraith buddy has a name. Todd. My bestie’s brother in law is called Todd. It fits.
John now has to eat crow. :D
“You touched something, didn’t you.” “No. Maybe a little.”
Well damn, Teyla can fly a Wraith ship...
Sudden increase in powers? Blame it on the sprog.
*sighs* This is a strange, strange situation.
“Well, at least we didn’t miss the party.”
And it just got a whole load creepier...
Whoops. I think we’ve been noticed...
You can’t eat Todd!! I like him!
John to the rescue!!
Cloning facility? That explains Drones...
Well shit. Alarms...
“Where’s Todd?” “He escaped.”
ookkayyy... what’s happening here?
Is... is that Teyla??
Creepy bitch...
Kill her Teyla.
“Oh great, she’s back.”
John, shoot the bitch.
Lol, yeah, didn’t see that coming now, did you.
And this is why we always have a spare Puddlejumper kids...

it could’ve started like this: a mcshep get-together per episode
72/100: spoils of war | badass, m, 1k
John’s still wired, adrenaline running high even after their post-mission check-up in the infirmary. They’ve got thirty minutes to freshen up before their debrief with Sam and John plans on spending at least twenty of those minutes in the shower himself—maybe thinking about Rodney taking his shower down the hall to burn off a little extra steam.

41, 50, 51 for ask game 😈
41. if you could change 1 detail about any show, what would you change and why?
BAHAH get ur pitchforks out folks. if we're talking atlantis, there are a few things i would want to change, but the biggest one is teyla's pregnancy arc. i didn't like how it was written into the show, for a number of reasons. the biggest being, i think it did a disservice to teyla's character. to me, teyla was the greatest warrior on that show. and to watch her get sidelined in the latter half of season 4 and basically all of season 5 (it was like where's waldo, but instead i was saying where's teyla?) because the writers didn't know how to balance her being a mom with her being on the team...it just depressed me. the scene that really killed the whole thing for me was when she had that conversation with john at the end of spoils of war where she basically says she used to be willing to die for him & ronon & rodney, but she has other considerations now. which i get but... i think it makes her almost less than them, as a member of the team, because they would still die for her & for all of atlantis, u kno? so i kinda wish it wasn't a thing.
50. what’s one TV cliche you love?
i deserve to be shot for this but, uh... the will they/wont they cliche. I DUNNO, MAN. i just really love yearning, and lingering looks, and fleeting touches. its such an interesting thing to watch people act out and subsequently over-analyze. BUT, weirdly, i only like it if it remains ambiguous (because i don't like romance romance, & usually the fruition disappoints me 😂). i don't want any romantic resolution. i want character's relationships to occupy this nebulous, weirdly intimate, more than friends but not really stage because i find it so fun to watch.
probably explains why i love the x-files, law & order: svu, and mcshep so much BAHAHA.
51. what’s one TV cliche you despise?
i suppose this applies to all types of media, but i'm gonna say it anyhoo. LOVE TRIANGLES. I HATE THEM. throw the whole thing away, please 😌 i think they're used solely to create extremely boring interpersonal drama between characters and u can have ur characters fight about something much more interesting that actually explores/builds their character. the bigger problem i have with it is that it does a disservice to all characters involved and really only serves to villainize some, if not all the characters in the eyes of the audience. and for what? yes, im throwing all of the shade on sga's tracker. i despise it.
honourable mention: a show ending with "it was all just a dream"... the laziest writing i've ever seen, unless u were the first one to do it.
ask me more!
