I've been trying to think of more Victor prompts, so I looked at whump prompts bc that's my favourite type of fics, and I feel like this could work for him. Like, he gets injured and turns off the pain so by the time the danger passes he forgets about it, and its not visible like external bleeding so others notice. Could be internal bleeding or head injury? If you can make something out of my rambling that would be impressive lol
I've never clicked on a request faster. I love this! I think I understand what you're asking for and hope I did it justice! I went with a concussion because it's internal but not too severe, since he can't go to the hospital or anything. I'm not sure how I feel about this, so if you want me to change anything or rewrite I can. Please let me know what you think and keep the Victor requests coming!!🤍
Warnings: spoilers for Vicious, concussion + descriptions of symptoms, detailed fight (inspired by the hallway fight scene in Daredevil), I think it can be read as platonic or romantic (the ending leans a little more romantic but I think it still works either way), fluff, and a brief Batman reference.
Word Count: 1.9k+ words
A/N: I imagine this takes place after Vengeful, but I don't think there's anything specific to place it there. I love writing for Victor and feel like I'm getting a little better at capturing him; he's a complex character but so much fun to write for! I'm working on a few fics for other characters, but to be completely honest, Victor requests will probably jump the line. I hope you enjoy this and please let me know what you think!

“Sneaking into a corporate building this size cannot be a good idea, Vic,” you point out. “There will be private security, cameras, everything you can imagine times ten.”
“Mitch is hacking the security system, and I can manipulate the pain of the guards so they never even see us, all of which will give us time to get the information we need,” Victor responds, not looking up from the blueprints on the table.
“Why is this a three-person job again? If it’s that easy, you and Mitch can do it.”
“It’s easier for him to focus on the guards and let you get the intel,” Mitch explains.
“Yeah, he’s not a great multi-tasker,” Sydney adds.
“We can’t all have the brain capacity and speed of a twelve-year-old girl,” Victor calls over his shoulder. He looks at you to say, “I need you in there. Are you in?”
You sigh and pinch the bridge of your nose as you stand behind him, looking over his shoulder. You ask, “Where are we getting in?”
The corner of Victor’s mouth raises nearly imperceptibly, the closest thing you’ve ever seen to a smile, before pointing to a side entrance.
“This is the fire escape door. Mitch will hack their system, disable its alarm, and we’ll be in,” Victor says, dragging his finger across the blueprint as he outlines a route to the server room. “Most of the security guards will be patrolling the outside, and we’ll hit during their shift change. Mitch got their schedules, and we know when the optimal time is. Less guards and less ground covered by them.”
“Seems easy enough.”
“I know.”
“Sarcasm, Vic,” you and Mitch say together.
Victor looks at you and rolls his eyes before mouthing, “I know.”
“Alright, Mr. Pre-Med, if you know everything, tell me what happens if you don’t see one of the guards and they take a shot at us.”
“I turn the pain off, and we keep going.”
“Bleed out, got it,” you mumble under your breath.
“Getting shot hurts,” Sydney adds.
“You don’t say,” Victor quips.
You and Sydney look at each other and smile.
“This is why I never make jokes.” Victor sighs.
“Sorry, Vic. Go over it one more time?”
He shows you the route again and points to the areas most likely to have security and personnel presence.
“And if someone calls the police and they surround the building?” you ask.
“We do what we do best,” Victor replies.
✯✯✯✯✯
“You’re clear,” Mitch says. A mechanism above the door clicks as the alarm disconnects and it unlocks.
“Where did you get these earpieces?” you ask, following Victor through the fire escape door.
“iSpy.com,” Mitch answers.
“Focus,” Victor snaps, looking over his shoulder at you.
You nod, stopping behind him as he looks around a corner.
“There are three guards down there,” Victor says.
Two clear thuds sound and Victor signals for you to follow him. When you step out behind Victor, you glance to the left and see three grown men curled up in pain, rocking back and forth in the fetal position. Victor drops two more guards, who never see either of you, before putting his hand out and stopping you.
“There’s someone else here,” he whispers.
“No heat signatures on the security feed's infrared,” Mitch states, clicking sounds echoing in your earpiece.
“Any idea where they are?” you ask.
Victor shakes his head and looks over your shoulder before looking the other way.
“Let me go first, the server room is right around the corner. I’ll let you know if there’s anyone in there. Otherwise, keep everyone out,” you suggest.
He hesitates before nodding, watching you walk past him and silently open the door, signaling that the room is empty before slipping inside. Before he can register the sound of footsteps or a door opening, someone wraps an arm around his neck. Victor pulls the arm, twisting the man in front of him before slamming him against the opposite wall.
Two more guards enter the hallway, and Victor tries to turn their pain dials but gets distracted by the man in his arms. Turning to his right, he shoves the first guard into the second and brings his elbow down on the wrist of the third as he pulls his gun.
Grunting, he imagines the dial but loses it again when a hand grips his shoulder. Pulling the wrist over his arm, he flips the guard and takes a deep breath. All three men gasp before crying out in pain. Victor smirks as he stands over them, oblivious to the alert being sent to all of the security guards in the building.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Mitch, what am I even looking for?” you ask, bypassing the password screen as Mitch lets you into the system. “And why can't you do this remotely?”
“Their system won’t allow internal downloads, someone has to download it to a destination outside of their network. Since I’m tapped into the network, you’ll have to put it on the external drive I gave you. The file should say something like ‘Eli Project’ or ‘Project Eli,’ if Vic’s information is right.”
“Got it. How’s Victor doing?”
“Looks like he’s dropping bodies as usual.”
You hum as you click through the files in the central server. You trust Victor, but companies publish false information to catch hackers and preserve trade secrets. His intel may be wrong. No file names match the criteria; the word ‘Eli’ isn’t in any of the files you view.
“Victor’s never been wrong before?” you ask.
“Rarely.”
✯✯✯✯✯
Victor pulls a gun from a guard before slamming the handle down on his forehead. Panting, he stands and increases everyone’s pain, smirking as several pass out from the intensity. A gloved hand meets the side of his neck, and before he sees his attacker to debilitate them, his head is shoved into the concrete wall beside him.
“Unnecessary,” Victor says through gritted teeth.
He pushes back against the hand on his neck, turning to see the guard. After the initial impact, his head starts to hurt, a feeling he isn’t used to anymore, so he decides to turn it off and keep everyone away from you. As he turns, Victor sees the man swing his fist toward Victor’s head. Victor slips forward and turns his own pain down. Remembering where you are, he directs increased pain to every person in the building, even as he feels his control slipping.
✯✯✯✯✯
“I found it!” you cheer, dragging the files to download onto Mitch’s hard drive. “It’s an acronym.”
“For?” Mitch asks, clicking on his keyboard as he watches the files disappear from the company’s database.
“I feel like Batman,” you say quietly before answering, “Elevated Lexiconary Information Studies E-O. It is Eli. Although, no one would study e-words all the way through o-words in the same go, they should have thought that through better.”
“Focus,” Mitch reminds you.
“Right, sorry. Two to go… And we’re done. Thanks a million, Alfred!”
You can almost hear Mitch shake his head before requesting, “Get Victor out of there without causing too much permanent damage, would you?”
“That’s what I do best.”
You step out into the hallway and press your back against the wall when you don’t see Victor. He is supposed to be in sight and give you a signal that all is clear. Your eyes widen when you notice how many unconscious guards litter the hall. Victor isn’t in sight, but you hear footsteps and pained screams around the corner. Stepping carefully over each guard, you slowly walk to the corner and stop, watching Victor bend over and take a few deep breaths before standing.
✯✯✯✯✯
Victor’s control slips, a phenomenon that hasn’t happened since he first learned to control and use his ability. Several guards begin to stand as Victor gets dizzy and nearly forgets what he’s supposed to be doing. He hears your voice, talking to Mitch in his earpiece, and his head clears enough to regain control, flooring most of the guards before looking down the hallway in anticipation of the next round of reinforcements. They scream as he turns the dial too high, too fast, and he bends forward as his head spins and the light grows too bright, making him sick to his stomach.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Victor?” you ask, stepping into the same hallway corridor.
Victor turns toward you but doesn’t look up. You repeat his name, and his eyes narrow like he’s unsure who you are or where he is. Stepping toward him and reaching out, you try to figure out what’s wrong with him. He slurs something before falling forward, and you can’t catch him before he hits the floor.
Dropping to your knees beside him, you hold his head and neck still as you look around. No one is moving, the guards still seeming to be in pain.
“Mitch?” you ask.
“What happened? I’ve got one of the cameras up. That didn’t look good.”
“I don’t know, he just collapsed. He looked confused. Mitch, what do I do?”
Mitch answers that he’s on his way as Victor opens his eyes and looks at you, straining against your hands as he views you upside-down.
“If he hit his head, we shouldn’t move him, Mitch.”
You look at Victor and notice he’s regained consciousness.
“Hey. Are you okay?”
“Debatable,” he answers. “But good enough to get out of here. Let’s go.”
He numbs the pain again, ignoring you as you argue with him that he shouldn't move and ask him if he hit his head. Focusing on your voice helps, but he’s still dizzy, nauseous, and slightly disoriented. You meet Mitch at the fire escape door and help Victor before you climb into the car, exhaling as you allow your shoulders to drop. Sitting in the backseat together, you turn in your seat to talk to Victor.
“And just when were you going to tell me about your head? Before or after you collapsed in the hallway?” you ask.
“I forgot,” he answers.
“You forgot?”
“I forgot.”
“Mitch, take us to my place, please,” you ask, looking into Victor’s eyes as you speak. “I think you have a concussion, Vic.”
“You have a place?” he asks.
“I’m the only one not posted everywhere as a missing child or wanted for escaping prison. I figured one of us should have a place to land.”
Victor nods, blinking slowly before his eyes close again.
✯✯✯✯✯
Victor groans as he wakes up. “Did Mitch run over me?” he asks.
“No, he did carry you inside after saving you in his car, though. You have a concussion, a fairly severe one based on the scene in the hallway. Want to tell me what happened?”
He sits up slowly, looking around the dark, unfamiliar room. “Where are we?”
“My place. Keep that ice on your head.”
Victor presses the ice pack to his head.
“So, what happened?”
“One of the guards came up behind me. I didn’t see him, so I couldn’t stop him. He slammed my head into the wall.”
“And you thought, ‘it’s probably fine, I won’t tell anyone?’”
“I turned off the pain and forgot,” Victor says, shrugging.
“You forgot,” you repeat, chuckling quietly.
“I can’t see you.”
“Yeah, light is bad for concussions. So is noise, so I’m going to give you a little time to rest. Sydney wants to come check on you when you feel better; let me know when you’re up for some company.”
As you near the door, preparing to give him some privacy and silence, he whispers, “Thank you.”
You freeze, not used to hearing Victor Vale express gratitude. Even though he can’t see you, you smile at him.
“You’re welcome. And it’s only because it’s you.”
Victor’s chuckle follows you out of the room, and his subsequent calls for help - and company - are nowhere near the inconvenience he seems to think they are.

First Meeting
Bday gift for @tamberwoof
Sage was like a fish out of water during her first meeting, Velvette had brought them as a way for Hazel to "show her the ropes" as a new addition to Velvette's personal security.
Sage tapped Hazel's shoulder, "So we just stand here while they talk business? I thought Vox would come with Eva?"
Hazel snorted, "Psh, nah Boss here handles all that mumbo jumbo, we pretty much intervene if anyone tries to jump her,"
Sage understood that, but from Velvette hashing out insults to the other overlords, she wondered if it was the opposite case.
Sage's eyes wondered around the room, from the right of her boss sat two overlords, one with a flaming skull, the other a giant pink dinosaur, both sharing a look of tiredness from the spitfire social media overlord.
At the end of the table stood Carmilla, the arms dealer matriarch who was returning Velvette's insults. On both sides stood demons that looked almost identical to her, they were most likely the daughters Velvette complained about. The hellhound that stood behind them was scarred on her face, and her right ear looked torn. To be honest, sage was intimidated but her cold, almost robotic stance, hackles standing on end.
Sage's gaze moved further to the left side of the table, noticing a woman with dark, obsidian eyes, she wore a vintage dress and her hellhound behind her was giving the most intense glare at the person sitting next to her boss, like if she could gut the overlord with her mind.
Fuck it took Sage that long to notice Alastor, the demon Sage hope she wouldn't have to deal with. He was chatting with his neighbor, either ignoring or unaware of the daggers the bloodhound was staring at him with.
Thankfully the hellhounds and Sage were told to wait outside, mainly for securing the vehicles for their bosses. Now that Sage got to see the other guards act, she felt more at ease. The bloodhound was cursing about Alastor that could make Satan himself blush, and the other that looked battle ridden was agreeing, her voice notably soft and quiet.
Like instinct Sage reached for their pockets to pull out some small bag of cookies that she baked the night before.
"Sage you really think that now's the best time?"
"Oh it's fine, we're all waiting for our bosses to finish whatever political bs they have, might as well break the ice."
"Psh, ight, you're funeral." Hazel stepped back, watching Sage approach the conversing hellhounds. Both stopping to look at the blue reptile approaching them
"Hey guys, I'm Sage, like the herb, I'm working with Hazel over there and I figured you guys might want a snack after we had to deal with that screaming match in there." Sage was expecting their offer to be smacked out of her hands as she quickly learned that reaction from the hotel.
But the two guards' eyes sparkled at the bagged goodies, both gently grabbing the bags and pulling out a cookie from them.
Sage was relieved when she watched the two guards sigh from sampling the baked goods. And the bloodhound spoke up,
"These are some of the best biscuits I have ever eaten," the other guard nodding in agreement "but let me introduce myself, I'm Iris, and this sweetie here is Sydney." To which Sydney made a small wave at Sage.
Sage was about to shake Iris' hand when they saw her face sharpen, Sydney joining the same hostility.
"Hello Ms Chef"
Sage quickly spun to see the radio demon himself towering over her, Hazel trying to get to them but she was blocked by Alastor's tendrils
His focus was on the new guard, ignoring the growls and cussing from her new acquaintances.
"It's funny to see you here of all places, did the princess and her lackies sent you to spy on me?"
"I'm on duty sir, and I don't see what you are concerned about where I earn extra on my paycheck."
Alastor then looked around the three guards, and his immovable grin was coupled with his condenseding eyes.
"You know of all the job openings I wouldn't expect a self-respecting sinner like yourself to be mingling with talking pets-"
"And I wouldn't expect a self-centered jackass like yourself to give a shit to sinners like me on what they do on their own damn time."
Alastor was taken aback, noticing the posse of fur and teeth drawing closer to him.
"Well you're right on that, just making sure you don't meddle with my business." And in a puff of black smoke he disappeared.
The three hellhounds rushed to Sage, who was now pissed that Alastor might get Charlie to force her to stay at the hotel, but her thoughts halted when Sydney spoke,
"H-hey, are you ok?"
Hazel joined as well "Yeah is there something you wanna tell us about that dick?"
To which Iris jumped in "Oh he thinks he can do that black smoke who-ha and can get away with it! Honestly I don't know how Rosie can stand that bastard!!"
Sage, looking at the three hellhounds, began to smile, "yeah I'm ok, he is a jackass, but I doubt that he would care enough to bother me; anyway," Sage pulled out their new phone that Velvette got for her to keep tabs on.
"Do you guys use Penstagram?"
HAPPY BIRTHDAY @tamberwoof YOU GOOBER
Sydney belongs to @tamberwoof
Iris belongs to @helluvadyke
Hazel belongs to @puffymucher
And small shoutout to @bigfatbimbo who owns Eva

Job Hunt
Sydney and Vanessa look for jobs to build up money to open a diner, but as Vanessa starts losing hope, Sydney contemplates going down a path he had hoped to never do again.
Time Frame: Post Security Breach, simultaneous with Help Wanted 2, Pre Ruin, Sydney POV
------------------------------
.
Running the household was a new experience. There were faint impressions of memories about running a base of operations as a mercenary, maintaining weapons of all sorts, keeping contact with people in similar lines of work to make sure there were clients and contracts to be had, that money flowed to where it was supposed to go, and targets were hit if a double cross happened. Nothing concrete to grab onto and ‘see’ clearly, just fragments of visions of the past and faint recollections of similarities to things he did now while helping Vanessa.
“Gregory! Don’t be late for the bus!” Vanessa called out from the kitchen as she put together a meal to pack up in a Glamrock Freddy Fazbear lunch box, “If you miss it, you’re riding with Sydney while he takes Alex to work!”
“If he rides with me, I’m drilling him on functions in C#!” Alex declared, walking in while straightening his tie as part of his uniform as a security guard. Sydney poured out a cup of coffee for him while Vanessa slid a plate of eggs and toast in his general direction. His brother had offered to return his position of day guard to him once they had all pretty much settled into routine in their shared house. Sydney had considered it for a while before passing on it; Alex had gained a lot more independence and power of choice when he took over as the day guard at Circus Baby’s Pizza and Parties. He wasn’t going to take that from his little brother.
That left the problem of getting new jobs up to him and Vanessa. Their savings would last a few months more, but after that it would become a strain on Alex to carry them through if they didn’t find something soon.
Probably why he’d caught Alex snooping through familiar dark web channels and only barely stopped himself from ripping the computer out of his hands. The amount of money the two of them had stashed away in accounts for their previous lives would have comfortably handled everything and even funded Gregory’s idea of opening their own restaurant. Despite his discomfort at going near anything related to their past identities, Sydney did lament the missed opportunity of using that blood money for a better cause. Wouldn’t make up for the shit he pulled back then but seeing less stress on Vanessa’s face before she finally fell asleep would go a long way to making him feel less crap about the situation.
Alex said the accounts were frozen, no way of getting that money, and their stashes of liquid assets had been destroyed long ago, so they should pretty much give up that avenue and just focus on local work. Sydney had agreed… on the surface.
The loophole he’d worked out by reversing the flaws and mistakes that got him killed in the first place seemed to be accepted by the deal Alex had made. So if he just continued operating under that loophole then there was still a path he could take. If they absolutely had no other choice….
Gregory scurried into the kitchen while Freddy followed at a slower, more cautious pace. The animatronic worried over accidentally damaging the stairs and upstairs floor with his weight so he tended to deliberate over his steps. Maybe he’ll get used to the place with more time. Still, Gregory was in a much better mood since Freddy was able to move in.
Sydney just found himself more on edge, internally screaming any time Freddy was in the same room as him. Whoever said exposure therapy was one good way to get over someone’s fear of something should be dragged into an alley and shot, years being stuck around some form of Freddy didn’t have him get over it. Just made him split between resigned acceptance of future death and frustrated tears that he was still tangled up in Afton’s shit. At least Glamrock Freddy maintained as much distance as he could and seemed aware that Sydney got tense if he couldn’t see where the bear animatronic stood.
“Can I come home if school gets sucky?” Gregory asked between mouthfuls of eggs and hashbrowns.
“You’re just gonna have to put up with it,” Vanessa sighed, already looking over the help wanted section of a newspaper, marker in hand to circle prospective jobs, “We can’t just keep you out of school or we’ll get in trouble. Maybe try and make some friends?”
“Only if I see anyone I recognize from the Pizzaplex,” Gregory muttered and scarfed down the rest of his breakfast before grabbing his lunchbox and bolting again, “Thanks! Bye, Vanessa! Bye, Freddy! See you after school!”
“I always get nervous sending someone to school,” Freddy mumbled, tapping a pair of claws together before looking at Vanessa, “I will get started on cleaning. Good luck in your job-hunting!” She nodded with a smile at him and he wandered off, which finally let Sydney relax.
“Guess he escaped getting drilled for now,” Alex grumbled into his coffee cup, “But I’m gonna get him to sit and study it sooner or later.” He checked the time and sighed, “Right, we’d better leave now if I wanna make it in before the asshole can have an excuse to get on my case about being late.”
“He doesn’t seem that bad,” Sydney carefully signed out, fingers and hands bending awkwardly into unfamiliar positions. Alex squinted at him and he sighed and wrote the message out.
“Oh, well yeah, compared to Master File, he’s a fucking sweetheart to you,” his brother scoffed, “But he bitches me out if I even look at my phone on the job. And don’t even get me started on how he’s still a diva on stage. Fucking embarrassing.” He pointed between Sydney and the paper, “You’re still learning that sign language stuff? Guess I should work on my app to translate it so you don’t have to keep writing everything.”
“Shouldn’t be on your phone if you’re on the clock as security,” Vanessa pointed out, circling a job listing, “It’s in the manual.” Alex hummed, shrugging as he set his cup down. “Well, if everyone’s ready, let’s go. Got some potential places to check for work.”
.
------------------------
.
Dropping off Alex meant getting to see his old place of work and how much it had changed since he last spent time there. Sydney looked over the new decorations, added services, and the change in people. Meera had grown older in her gaze while her features still retained some of her youthfulness from years ago. She still greeted him warmly, hugged him happily, and gushed about her joy in being able to help rescue him from Afton’s clutches.
Circus Baby watched from where she walked the floor, greeting customers. She only waved at him and Vanessa while Alex promptly ignored the animatronic in favor of making his rounds. The pizzeria had changed some, but Sydney still remembered days of making sure Alex ate regularly to gain healthy weight, keeping teenagers in check so they didn’t bully younger kids, and being a lot more carefree. He kinda missed those days.
From there he and Vanessa drove around town to search out all the places she’d circled. Supermarkets, gas stations, convenience stores, restaurants and bars; they filled out applications until Sydney’s eyes crossed at having to spell his name over and over and over.
“Wrong name,” Vanessa whispered under her breath at one stop and he blinked, rubbing his eyes before glaring down at the paper. He’d put his last name as ‘Michaels’ and scowled. The admittedly bad idea he’d been poking at in the back of his mind must have been taking more of his attention than he thought. Correcting the name was easy enough but now that he was aware of what he was considering, it was harder to shove it back down.
He still had his old skills after all, Afton made sure to use him to that extent whenever she needed people gone. And he remembered how much money there was to be made in those circles.
“This burger place is asking for night guards, wanna try applying here?” Vanessa asked during a stop to eat lunch. She pointed at the sign on the ordering counter with her fries and Sydney turned in his seat to look it over and check out the surroundings more carefully. The place had its own animatronics but the building felt… wrong. Nice enough in the day for a visit, but definitely not a place to be in at night.
“No,” he both signed and shook his head at her. Instinct was now screaming at him to leave, pick Vanessa up bodily if need be and just get out. She gave him a puzzled look, then shrugged and went back to eating her burger so he had to push the reaction down, grimacing a bit. Definitely didn’t make it easy to guard her.
They didn’t apply at the burger place and Vanessa decided they should walk around in a mall as compensation. There were more places to apply at inside, but they drifted from shop to shop, gazing through the storefront windows, more than browse inside them. Just a relaxing walk, side by side, while Vanessa scrolled her phone for messages from Gregory.
“Seems like he found a friend,” she said at last, looking up at him with a grin, “It’s cute. He ran into a girl he met at the Pizzaplex during her birthday party and they reconnected.” She waggled the phone, mischievous smile on her face. “Teasing material~!” she declared in a sing-song tone, “Revenge for how he keeps thinking we’re dating or something.”
Sydney rolled his eyes and Vanessa just laughed, bumping him with her shoulder. That was something they both found a little funny. It wasn’t like Gregory or Alex made much effort to hide how they kept sneaking around the house to ‘spy’ on them, like they were trying to catch the two of them at something incriminating. At first it had been kind of annoying -there were only so many times they both could insist they were just friends before it sounded like denial-, but then they turned it into a game of how long they could waste time before those two gave up out of boredom.
Sometimes Vanessa got a bit of a mean streak and would grab the headboard of their bed to slam against the wall a few times, smiling wide and toothy at the mad scramble down the stairs they both could hear through the closed bedroom door. Those moments had Sydney laughing so hard he could barely breathe.
“We should be getting back now. School will be out in another hour and if we’re not home to let him in, Freddy will do it and we don’t need the neighborhood figuring out we have an animatronic at home,” Vanessa said, looking at the time on her phone. “We’ve pretty much hit every place we could to look for work. Something’s bound to come through for us.”
And if not, well… there was still a little money squirreled away for a plane ticket to Nebraska.
.
-------------------
.
Alex and Gregory sat in the living room, various parts and a laptop spread on the coffee table. Freddy sat on the floor near them, watching curiously as they worked on the components together. The pieces were scraps from Fitzgerald’s workshop, leftover animatronic parts that the two of them used for practice in making upgrades for Freddy. Sydney watched them for a moment before turning his attention back to dinner prep in the kitchen.
Vanessa had gotten a cookbook during their mall outing and peered at one page, knife in one hand and onion in the other. “Restaurants make onion rings look so easy,” she complained to him as he drew closer to look over the recipe himself, “Should we just chop it up instead and mix it into a meatloaf?”
“Do we have everything for a meatloaf?” Sydney signed, the positioning of his hands growing more fluid with practice over time. Following along with the videos online helped a lot, and Vanessa would sit in with him to learn how to read this new way of communicating. She was still good at understanding him, with or without his signing. Just a side effect of them having spent so long together under Afton’s control.
“Pretty sure we do. We stocked up on staple supplies during our last grocery run,” she replied, slicing the onion in half on the cutting board and wrinkling her nose, “If this makes me cry, we’re never getting onions again.” Sydney huffed a laugh at her, walking away to change ingredients from making onion rings and dip to meatloaf.
Whatever investigations were going on with the Pizzaplex had long ago fizzled out, to no one’s surprise. The place was still cordoned off, with construction equipment surrounding the building to attempt repairs where the sinkhole under Roxy Raceway started destabilizing the foundation. Freddy watched the news about it with a sad expression and Gregory started making suggestions to sneak into the building and see if the other Glamrocks could be salvaged.
“Their programming chips, I mean,” he had amended when Vanessa and Sydney had both stared at him in alarm, “Mr. Woods said he could build them new endos and shells, but we need the chips so that Freddy gets his friends back and not just Fazbear Entertainment copies.” They didn’t really address it, but then they really didn’t want to step back inside the building. Felt too much like a trap, waiting to ensnare them if they dared to cross the threshold again. Safer to stay outside the building.
Or so they had thought. Vanessa suddenly went silent, cutting herself off from her string of complaints about the onion smell, standing in place with her head in an odd tilt, as though listening to something only she could hear. Sydney watched her warily, alarm building up as she continued to stare with empty eyes into the distance, her grip still on the knife. Finally, she turned her attention to him, gaze still vacant as her hand twirled the knife around into a tighter grip, raising it up while she moved towards him in a semi-drunken shuffle.
He moved to intercept, grabbing her wrist to keep the knife up and away, other arm wrapping around her shoulders to limit her rotation force, then spinning them both around together to sandwich her between himself and the kitchen wall. Pinned like that she wouldn’t be able to leverage enough space to free her arm or move the knife. All that was left was to wait and hope Vanessa snapped out of this state before Gregory wandered into the kitchen and panicked.
“...Wh-,” she breathed after a moment, blinking in confusion, “What just…?” Her eyes scanned over him and then herself and then up at the knife in her hand, her face going ashy in realization. Sydney watched her intently, questioning expression on his face. Vanessa swallowed hard, trying to get herself to relax. “I’m okay. I’m… me again,” she whispered and glanced up at her hand, “Could you… take the knife from me? Please?”
He could smell the fear drifting around her, but he pulled away carefully and reached up to slide the knife handle from her loosened grip. While she hugged herself tightly, he finished chopping up the onion, cleaned the knife, then put it away, leaning back against the drawer it was stored in to block access to it. Vanessa flashed him a quick smile of gratitude, shaky as it was, before returning to her efforts of pulling herself together.
“Been a while since that happened,” she finally muttered, moving carefully to his side and leaning in for support, “Only time I felt shut into my own head like that was just before Gregory shut down the system that was making me into Glitchtrap’s puppet.” She shivered, rubbing her arms down. “We had the implants removed, so what set that off now?”
Sydney didn’t have an answer for that, just a suspicion that the activity of repair around the Pizzaplex was yet another front for something more happening there. Even with the implants gone, the scars of what they’d been through in there still lingered, planted traps that could go off if they weren’t vigilant about finding and disarming them. He pulled Vanessa into a hug, tucking her head under his chin and letting them both listen to the innocent bickering in the next room over what went into a good battery upgrade for Freddy. The sounds kept the chill at bay, reminded them both that they were still in light, even if shadows tried to drag them back in.
“Don’t tell Gregory,” Vanessa murmured, “I don’t want him to think he didn’t actually free me. It’ll just make him want to go back in there even more, on some wild goose chase of finding another arcade machine.”
Sydney pulled one hand away. “Okay,” he signed, blinking when she reached out and wove her fingers with his, clutching his hand like a lifeline.
“You’re the best friend a formerly brainwashed amnesiac mom could ever ask for,” she joked weakly, laughing when Sydney chuckled over her head. “Let’s get back to making dinner, before the boys walk in here and think they’ve scored a point in our game.” Her smile grew more genuine and relaxed when he stuck his tongue out at her.
The things he did to help his friends. Worth it every time.
.
--------------------------
.
The admittedly bad idea rose up again when Vanessa didn’t stop frowning at the screen of her laptop, a spare one Alex had cleaned up and secured before passing it to her as a ‘welcome to freedom’ gift. Gregory was upstairs in his room with Freddy and her phone, talking to his friend from school for however long he could stall doing his homework. Alex himself was at work, and that left Sydney to hold down the fort while Vanessa oversaw the managing of household duties.
Usually that meant she got to boss him around into doing more manual chores and he indulged her because it both made her happy and kept his mind trained to work around his fatal flaw. Give up power in exchange for self-control; the deal remained intact and he didn’t feel as suffocated.
Today, she didn’t even crack a smile at having him haul out the garbage to the curb. Just stayed staring at the screen with that tense frown and fearful eyes.
“If your faces freezes like that, I’ll get the blame,” Sydney signed in front of her so she’d have to see his hands. Vanessa glanced up at the motions, attention diverted, then flashed him a tight smile.
“Sorry, just… looking at our savings again,” she apologized and gestured at the screen. “With what we have, even if we rented space for a tiny diner, we won’t have the money to secure restaurant equipment to actually do business.” She twisted a few strands of her hair around her fingers unhappily. “I could try to get a loan, but we’d have to put the house up for collateral. If the business fails, we lose the house. And we won’t even have this much savings for very long. Bills to pay, household expenses… you know how it is,” she added. Sydney nodded in agreement. Those were all things he had to manage when it was just him and Alex living in a meager little apartment to get away from their parents and he was the one working to bring in money for them to live on.
“If only we had, like, a million dollars just drop into our laps,” Vanessa sighed and snapped her fingers, “Like that. It’d solve this diner issue pretty fast. Too bad the lump sum payout I got from fighting with Fazbear Entertainment was eaten up by our hospital bills and this house.”
Sydney grimaced a little at her words. Money was an issue, always was, and that stupidly bad idea was all but whispering more enticement to him. One job. He could probably do one high value job and solve the problem. Only issue was what to do about the fact that he was going to have to be away from them for however long it took to do that job. He couldn’t just up and say, ‘Hey, I’m going to be gone for maybe a month to do something illegal to get us money. See you later!’
Right?
.
.
In retrospect, while sitting in a plane bound for Nebraska, maybe leaving a note on the bed beside a sleeping Vanessa wasn’t his smartest idea. But at least he wasn’t there for her to yell at him. He’ll just get an earful once he was home with the money. Who knows? Maybe he’ll have enough money that she’ll be so happy with it she’d forget to yell at him.
“Someone looks like they’re in the doghouse with the missus,” the passenger beside him muttered as they read their newspaper.
Sydney sighed, shoulders slumping as he lamely signed, “Just friends.” The passenger scoffed and turned a page, resuming their silence. Technically, she was his boss, so the disbelief was understandable.
She was totally going to yell at him once he got back.

@rosewaterdrunk || Scott & Emma cont. from x bc beta editor
Tumblr media
.。.:*☆ "Make-up business?" Scott furrowed his brows, but then nodded. it did fit to Emma, after all. Plus, he would not judge really, anyway. Not as long as she was happy, after all.
Tumblr media
"Well, I am glad you found something for you," He therefore only said. Emma would understand how Scott meant it, surely. "Me? Oh, I do currently work as as security guard." It was a very modern word for Sydney in the 1920's, surely. But, it did sum it up well. "Just you know, making sure at night no one tried to break into stores and thinks. I am sure it is a job for the local police, but they are pretty much lacking stuff, from what I have seen. So, no, no dream job. But it does bring in some money, so, I am not going to complain."

The face behind Sydney's Stonewall Hotel
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/the-face-behind-sydneys-stonewall-hotel/
The face behind Sydney's Stonewall Hotel
Tumblr media
Stonewall Hotel is one of a handful of venues along Oxford Street that can claim real longevity, having been open for an impressive 27 years this July, and it’s been a staple of the Sydney LGBTQIA+ scene since day one.
Many readers will be familiar with Stonewall’s dangerously cheap Long Islands, but they may not know the face behind the scenes that keeps the place running.
Linda Warren is the current licensee and general manager at the Stonewall Hotel.
For over a quarter of a century she has dedicated everything to the venue, working her way up from a bar back on opening night to where she is today.
QNews had the privilege of sitting down with Linda and talking all things Stonewall.
How long has Stonewall been a part of your life?
I started at Stonewall Hotel’s opening night on the 25th of July 1997, 26 years ago.
Back then, did you know that you’d be where you are now, almost 27 years later?
No, I had no idea. I started as a glassy/bar back. Then I went up to Bar Supervisor and then Management, and now of course Licensee. Stonewall is not only my job, but my passion.
Stonewall is often called the home of drag in Sydney. How is that legacy being carried into 2024?
Stonewall has drag performers working seven nights a week. We are one of the only places that has fully choreographed production shows every Friday and Saturday night, featuring three queens. We’ve also got Sunday nights for up and coming drag artists to perform on the Stonewall stage in our open mic night, Showgirl Sundays.
Are there any standout events or moments from your time working at Stonewall that you can tell me about?
There are so many. Meeting Cyndi Lauper at Stonewall after Mardi Gras, and hanging with one of my idols, Jimmy Barnes, would definitely be a highlight. Even the 2000 Olympics. What an incredible time at Stonewall! And of course the Vote Yes party back in 2017.
We’ve had so many amazing Mardi Gras, the Gay Games… But it’s all of the wonderful DJs, performers, staff, patrons and security guards that I have met through my Stonewall journey. Stonewall is family to me.
We are living in a completely different time to when Stonewall opened back in the 90s. What are your plans for the future of the venue?
It may be different times but we still have our core values of equality and fun which we shall carry into the future.
We also have to keep evolving and growing the business as changes to Oxford Street occur to stay relevant and continue to be the heart of the community. What do you think Stonewall represents to the scene here in Sydney?
It’s become a home to so many people and known all over the world as a fun, safe and friendly environment. We are a hub of diversity and an inclusive community. For everyone.
What makes Stonewall unique to other venues along the strip?
All the venues on the strip are very important and are all part of the wonderful community. Stonewall strives to be a place where you can be who you want to be and love who you want to love without judgement.
We love working with the other venues and want the future of Oxford Street to stay as a fun, safe, welcoming environment and continue to be one of the best queer destinations in the world.
-Stonewall Hotel is at 175 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst.

Trauma house: Heaven's wasteland info:
"The Judge/Headmaster"/Agasha Talanova- headmaster at Ravenwood (and previously Grand Ridge). Watching her explain the rules of the training and handling any, silly little outbursts from the subjects reminded me of why she was elected to lead us. It's a shame she'll have to deal with the survivors and their antics (especially the investigators) but she can handle it, I know she can. D.O.B. is still said to be July 2nd and her place of origin is somewhere in Russia (still not sure where).
Marje Paters- stenographer at Ravenwood (and previously Grand Ridge). I mentioned her skills 4 years ago and boy did she deliver, not a single word was missed the entire time. It's a shame she got stuck with Ghost’s “friend” but hey, he did what he was told to eventually (although he was a pain in the ass to deal with personally). Anyway, D.O.B. is August 5th and her place of origin is Breda, The Netherlands.
Åse Eliassen- I forgot to mention Ravenwood's (and previously Grand Ridge's) very own bailiff/school security guard, how silly of me. Just like with Marje, I wish she didn't have to deal with Ghost’s “friend”, but we did eventually get him to do his job so I can't be too disappointed with the situation. It is her job to take care of threats after all. D.O.B. is May 18th, and her place of origin is said to be Oslo, Norway.
Norman Hart- math professor at Ravenwood College. His math skills aren't really important in the game, but he can console the participating students after the fact with his experience as a teacher and dad. D.O.B. is September 13 and the place of origin is Seattle, Washington.
Agnes "Ivy" Murray- a detective in the EIPD (Ego Island Police Department), she sure as hell knows how to take control of a situation. Her investigative experience would have proved helpful to the participants if only the judge hadn't blocked them away from the rest of the campus. D.O.B.. is January 22nd and the place of origin is Sydney, Australia.
Blake Walsh- an English professor at Ravenwood. Like Norman, his literature skills aren't important for the game, but unlike Norman, he has a harder time consoling people as he is childless, but his experience with older kids makes up for it. D.O.B. is April 28th and the place of origin is Austin, Texas.
Jamie Mack- 18-year-old student with remarkable translating skills. If anyone needs help in any foreign language class, they're your person. These language skills are also useful in translating any multilingual plans written in an attempt to be discreet about them. D.O.B is February 15th and the place of origin is Chicago Illinois.
Elias Zenea- 19-year-old student and prophet. Although the idea of an actual prophet seems far-fetched, this student seems to be at least on the right track 50-60% of the time. This foresight can prove helpful as they can see the crime before it even happens and can predict any other attacks that may occur. D.O.B is September 6th and the place of origin is Patras, Greece.
Amina del Nero- 19-year-old student and florist. Even though the ability to grow flowers might be helpful, growing food sure is and her knowledge of what is edible or not is also very helpful in either making sure someone survives or getting rid of them herself. D.O.B is July 20th and the place of origin is Milan, Italy.
Rémy Poulin- 18-year-old student and abstract artist. His art skills can be useful if he wants to trick someone with a fake tunnel or corridor, he can paint it very convincingly. He can also paint things to take his mind off of the situation but I digress. D.O.B is September 2nd and the place of origin is Lyon, France.
Yvonne Poulin- 18-year-old student and animator. Unlike her brother, I don't think her animation skills would help as much, although if they work together and make a moving distraction then I see it. She does understand how the human body moves, just like that poor dollmaker back in Grand Ridge. Anyways, D.O.B is September 2nd and the place of origin is Lyon, France.
Lorena Menédez- 20-year-old student and inspector/investigator. One of the only ones with any sort of investigative prose, she is very helpful in determining the who, how, and why of any case, if only finding out who did it meant they see punishment (as this is more of a survival of the fittest situation rather than trial situation), she’s still helpful in discussions but it might not get anywhere. DOB is December 3rd and the place of origin is Cali, Columbia.
Esther Camarero- 21-year-old student and musician. Not really useful in itself, but she does carry around some heavy instruments, you need a strong arm and decent coordination. She can distract the group from the situation and help pass the time but that's about it really. DOB is October 12th and the place of origin is Barcelona, Spain.
Jurrijn Fixe- 20-year-old student and matchmaker. I don't really know how playing Cupid can be useful, maybe he's giving people alibis without realizing it, yeah that can be it. Anyway, the way he works is he gets a read on someone and finds someone that matches what they need, like the bookworm from Grand Ridge, but with people instead of books (yeah it's weird now that I put it like that). D.O.B is May 19th and the place of origin is Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Katenka Kashuba- 19-year-old student, fighter/soldier in training, and Grand Ridge massacre survivor. Not only did she survive the massacre (like I said she would), but she also seemed to have brought her younger sister into this (unknowingly of course). Given her connection to the other survivors, I won't be surprised if everyone survives this game like they did the last one. I also said she could get rid of evidence easily and boy, she did not disappoint. D.O.B. is July 4th and the place of origin is Moscow, Russia.
Veronika Kashuba- 18-year-old student and software architect. Like her sister, she too has a history of fighting for her life, unlike her sister that's not her only known trait. As a software architect, she helped a fellow student revive Mach’s programming (as his body got destroyed at some point at Grand Ridge four years prior), but instead of putting in a new body they just put him in his inventor’s computer. D.O.B is July 12th and the place of origin is Kazan, Russia.
Tobias Oien- 19-year-old student and medic. As a medic, they can patch anything up (within limitation) using what's available, thus keeping his peers alive just a bit longer. Though they may seem to be focusing on only his peers, he can also patch himself up (as expected) so he can better help their peers. D.O.B. is August 21st and the place of origin is Calgary, Canada.
Karly Emily Kamad Borres- 20-year-old student and guide. As a guide, she knows the school like the back of her hand and can use that knowledge to her advantage (leading people where they can't be found, hiding from any attacks, etc.). The downside to this of course is if she says anything about a place that only she knows, she's immediately suspect number 1. D.O.B. is August 21 and the place of origin is Manila, Philippines.
Asuka Kudo- 19-year-old student and mechanic. Given that she's a mechanic, I'm surprised Mach’s inventor didn't ask her to help him rebuild the body, I mean she is capable of achieving such a feat, just look at Ravenwood’s robotics club, but to each their own I guess. Preferences aside, she is very understanding and has decided to help fix the program for his computer with Veronika and Otto instead. D.O.B is March 18th and the place of origin is Kyoto, Japan.
Otto Weigle- 18-year-old student and programmer. Speaking of helping with Mach’s programming, he did the bulk of the work for their little project (alongside the inventor obviously). He is also responsible for programming the school's computer and security systems, little does he know that work will bite him in the ass eventually. D.O.B is January 21st and the place of origin is Munich Germany.
Camron Alejo- 21-year-old student and psychologist. Considering the situation at hand, having a psychologist by your side isn't a bad idea, especially one as sympathetic as her. Some would say her sympathy makes her weak, but you know what I see, I see someone that even the most closed off of people can trust with whatever they are going through. D.O.B is October 24 and the place of origin is Valencia, Spain.
Mirai Hamadate- 20-year-old student and filmmaker. Like the writers at Grand Ridge, although his filmmaking skills might not be useful, he'd have one hell of a movie on his hands if he survives. Wait, as a filmmaker, he could spot whether or not any footage shown is real or edited so he is useful, for that at least. DOB is June 28th and the place of origin is Sapporo, Japan.
Gavin Toast/Allencourt- 21-year-old student, gambler/identity thief, and another Grand Ridge massacre survivor. His talents he was so highly praised (or shunned) for, worked in his favor the last time, let's see where they get him now that his brother and their friend are “undercover” as former classmates of theirs. D.O.B. is August 8th and the place of origin is Glasgow, Britain.
“Edgar Kingsley”/Johnny Toast- 21-year-old student, writing prodigy and survivor. He is currently undercover as his deceased cousin, he might get away with it if the other survivors (who know the difference between the 2 writers) weren't here. Seeing how long this lasts does sound fun though. And I believe the judge, like last time, hasn't waved any exceptions for them so we hope to see a lot of shenanigans between everyone. Anyways, D.O.B. is August 8th and the place of origin is Glasgow, Britain.
“Joan Zanhuesa”/Johnny Ghost- 19-year-old student, inventor, and last survivor in our roster (Robin might be off somewhere else or maybe she'll be here later, who knows). As I mentioned before, as the inventor of Mach and the head of the restoration project, I thought he would have tried to fix the old body or make a new one but no. He opted to put him into his computer via a hard drive he picked up after he was destroyed. Moving on, like his partner in crime, he is also undercover as his deceased cousin (for some goddamn reason, guilt maybe?). I also thought his status as a gateway was going to have a bigger impact, (maybe his “friend" will show up at some point like he did last time). Anyways, D.O.B. is August 28th and the place of origin is Savannah, Georgia.

How To Weld Galvanized Steel Safely?
What is Galvanized Steel?
Galvanized steel is steel sheets covered in zinc, which makes it rust-resistant. It is one of the most common kinds of steel on the market today. A reason for its popularity is its durability, the zinc coating gives it corrosion resistance. Most modern buildings are built using galvanized steel frames. It is also a very common material used in the solar and automotive industries. The process of creating galvanized steel is hot-dipping steel into a zinc coating solution. This coating protects the steel from corrosion and general surface scratches. Galvanized steel is extremely versatile, it can be punched, pressed, welded and bent into shape to suit the project’s requirements.
How to maintain and protect galvanized steel?
It is crucial to understand the general care and maintenance materials that are required when working with galvanized steel. It is important to avoid exposing galvanized steel to conditions where the pH is below 6 or above 12 as it can cause the coating to corrode more aggressively. Galvanized steel products should be kept away from corrosive environments including brass and copper metals as this can also affect the quality of the material. Do not wash galvanized steel unnecessarily, as harsh cleaning products can wash away the protective film on the steel. This can eventually reduce the life of the steel. Environmental factors can also contribute to the deterioration of the steel, the steel should not be exposed to the rain or sun. To keep the integrity of the steel, we recommend that it is stored in a dry location with adequate ventilation.
Common issues when working with galvanized steel
There are several common issues that arise when working with galvanized steel including corrosion and coating issues. Galvanized steel can also pose health issues, and should be done with the proper knowledge and training.
Health issues when welding galvanized steel
Welding can be extremely hazardous and the appropriate welding personal protective equipment should be worn and used at all times. This includes protective equipment like helmets, gloves, leather jackets, and steel toe boots. Welding galvanized steel also requires the use of a respirator so that the zinc oxide fumes are not inhaled. It is also recommended to only weld in a well-ventilated area to minimize inhaling these toxic fumes.
For those welders that ignore safety risk a number of long-term health issues including metal fume fever, lung and brain cancer that is caused by the small lead content on the galvanized coating forming oxide fumes, which is released during the welding. It is important that the welder is properly trained and follows strict welding procedures to minimize the risk. Along with checking all the correct personal protective equipment is worn at all times, the welding area should be evaluated for risks and hazards.
How to improve the safety of welding?
When undertaking a welding job, it is important to wear appropriate equipment including a respirator and full protective clothing to ensure that no skin is exposed. A well-ventilated area is essential to minimize the toxic fumes that are emitted during the welding process. Appropriate eyewear should be worn at all times, this includes safety glasses with side shields and ear protection as it protects the welder from exposure to welding rays.
Welding galvanized steel can be hazardous for those that are not fully trained or wearing the correct safety equipment. The right welder can ensure that all safety precautions are taken so that there will be no delays in your project.

It's a work in progress/retraining sketch. Trying my best to get back into the way I used to draw but I'm really rusty and I don't quite like how it's looking so far but eh. Maybe y'all can point out some stuff for me who knows.
This is supposed to be post-Security Breach (possibly post-Ruin too). Sydney continues working with Vanessa at her own pizzeria after she adopts Gregory, and Alex takes his old job at Circus Baby's as the day shift guard.

After growing up in foster care, Owen went to the military as soon as he got the chance, hoping it would get him away from being poor, and having no meaning in his life.
Up until today, he has no idea who his parents are, or what had happened to them.
During his experience during WWI, Owen has sort of lost faith in humanity. He is not eager to be social anymore, and prefers staying on his own most days. Also, he is not aiming for any sort of relationship that is more than a hook-up, or friends with benefits.
When remembering the dinosaurs and his real life finally, Owen had been in a downward spiral for a while, thinking it might all be in his head, and a result from his war trauma.
