a snippet once again from the 00Q Scotand trip fic-

“Supplies, plural?”

“Of course.  I have tea, croissants for breakfast and gummy worms for later.”  Bond exhaled audibly, knuckles tightening around the steering wheel a smidge, just like Q thought.  He kept his satisfaction to himself, however, and added in a very serious, oblivious tone, “don’t worry, there is enough for you too.”

The reply came instantly.

“You are not eating a croissant in my car.”

Bond was a man of contradictions.  What he would do once they reached McTominay’s house was anyone’s guess and yet in other respects he was as predictable [[as clockwork.]]  Of all the fallen agents whose memorial services Q attended in the past year, Bond was the only one to be called ‘an ass, arrogant, full of himself’ and ‘a good man’ in the same breath, each description heavy with the weight of its truth.  Eve shaking her head, eyes misty, and a bottle of wine into the night, bare of the armour that saw her through the day.  Do good men let their colleagues believe they killed them for months, Q had wondered, not for the first time, as he walked into the National Gallery and then chose a painting about a [[decaying warship]] out of something like spite.
