2020 Update - 20th Feb

5 books into my 20 books to read this year. Looks like I’m going to smash that target this year!

Finished reading The Colour of Magic – A really fun book and I definitely want to read the next one, but I was a little daunted upon finding that there are about 40 books in the series!

Started reading The Dark Forest (Remembrance of Earth’s Past #2) - Chinese hard Sci-Fi about aliens from another planet coming to colonise Earth, and destroy human civilisation in the process, because their own planet has become uninhabitable.

Had another trip to a charity shop and bought Daughter of Smoke and Bone and The Book Thief for the princely sum of £1.

Somehow managed to drink for free in one my favourite pubs last Friday night. They won an award, so they decided to celebrate by giving away 150 pints. All I had to do was order my drink in the right way... “May I have one of your finest...Strongbow Dark Fruits please?”.

Completed episode 2 of our podcast! We covered The Hills Have Eyes (I’d rather not watch it again) which was influenced by the legend of Sawney Bean, a Scottish cannibal from the Middle Ages. We felt a bit more relaxed this time and we seemed to have fixed the sound issues we had in our first episode (I was noticeably louder than my co-host before). Went to see Parasite after it was released at my local cinema. Not entirely certain it was worth the Best Film Oscar, but certainly a really great film about class and social hierarchies in South Korea (and probably very applicable to the rest of the world).

I still haven’t written anything else on my first story/novel/novella. Trying to flesh out my main characters a little before I continue, but struggling to find the time. I’m also finding it hard to tell if my story is going to be long or short. This writing fiction malarkey is hard!
