. . • Green Again • Deliberate Green Choice • Handlooms • Hand-made • Go Green • Saree Stories • . . Today was a deliberate GREEN choice again for work. Now it's like an obsession, I want to do green so often, like a compulsion, till I am bored, or till my wardrobe exhausts all greens. . . This one is a #Sungudi or #Chungudi #saree. I always loved Sungudis because it evokes some deep unclear memories with a happy-after- feel. My dear friend @unavunav surprised me by sending it as a gift for one of my birthdays. Now i have 3 Sungudis. . Sungudis are tie-and-dye, a South Indian version of #Bandini. This particular saree is more of a block print, which is now practiced on Sungudis, because tie-and-dye is time consuming. One out of 3 of my sungudis is a tie-and-dye. . . The black #Ajrakh blouse is another hand-crafted fabric, and since this particular blouse feels too jataang to my sensibilities; and it has too much detailing including mirror work and strings to tie, pom-poms, shells and very open necklines...all these are not what I prefer as my style these days. Phew!! . And with today's humid weather, i had to switch over to a comfortable breathable #kalamkari blouse for the rest of today. . . I belong to a tribe where we share our saree stories. And learning about Indian fabrics, weaves and designs is one of my passions, from a very young age I had an inclination to understand fabrics, handlooms, designs, prints, handicrafts. . . • Green Friday • Kanjeevaram Green • Sari Aficionados • . . There was a #kanjeevaram week going on among the sari aficionados. That suddenly reminded me that airing out the silks has to be done now. I haven't been wearing too many saris lately, and Kanjeevarams went back to their usual slumber. . . I haven't bought a silk in the last 3 years or more. I am trying to give up silk, forever. So weaning out of it now by not buying, but still wearing what is already there. . . Being one #handloom, #handmade fanatic, and the love for anything #handcrafted, and that keen eye for appreciating this art of #weaving...Aaaaand being the typical Southie, Kanjeevaram is like religion!! . . Another GREEN for work. And going green in so many ways... . . When I occasionally had some extra time to indulge... I impulsively took this #bohemian looking green belt as an accessory for this south cotton #saree. I liked the way it turned out, but soon got out of the idea and the belt, because my today's workplace is a very conservative place, and this style would completely jinx my day. Non-acceptance of a trend or a style in a place can create a lot of negative energies. . . So 'In Rome, do as the Romans do ' funda, I slipped into a different style with this #handmade (by I-Me-Myself!!!) neckpiece made of a #natural #cinnamon bark, a lovely metal bead, faux leather rope, and a beautiful coloured bead that was a part of some old jewelry piece from Nepal. . . These Ear Danglers are even more special. A colleague and friend had gifted me several years ago. It has 🍀#Tamarind seeds and 🍀Gulaganji seeds. #Gulaganji was used to measure/weigh gold and gems in the olden days. Gulaganji, also known as 🍀 #Jequirity Beans, is a plant/climber. . Oh! I love the beautiful natural colours of Gulaganji!!!! I remember collecting them when I was a little girl. . These accessories are my most favourite. I use them very often. . . And then after that...just a walk-around in the garden, I spotted the beautiful 🍀 Mimosa Pudica extensively growing on this container of The 🍀 Banyan #Bonsai aka 🍀#Ficus Benghalensis and I am still unsure whether I should or not remove the Mimosa - The famous Touch-me-not!! Because it is so beautiful. . I posed around with this, because i will soon work on this plant, and intuitively decide on whether to keep or not!! . . The #Ajrakh crop top, which I usually pair with my skirts, turned into a saree blouse, because I am a self-proclaimed #minimalist who will mix n match so much that I create an illusion of abundance posession 😉🙃... And that's always been my way of doing things anyways! . .
