Thoughts about scug names… like as in what they go by.
Survivor: goes by Survivor. They earned that name fair and square, and they should be allowed to claim it.
Monk: goes by Sibling, Brother, or Friend. Depends on who you ask. Monk himself doesn’t care much. He’s just vibing. Call them whatever you wish. Slugcats don’t have monks, so they wouldn’t have a proper word for it. Scavs call them “Friend” in their language.
Hunter: They go by Hunter! It’s what she prides herself in, so of course she claims it as her own. Sig calls them “little guy,” or if he names them, “Courier.” Hunter does not identify herself as such, though.
Spearmaster: Messenger. That’s what suns calls them, so that’s what they are. Suns wanted to give it a proper name, but Messenger stuck. Unlike Hunter, Messenger likes the name they were given.
Gourmand: Leader or Chief. It’s their title, but slugcats like to give themselves titles as names in general. Other scugs greet them as Leader, and scavs call them Chief, because they recognize that gourmand is the top scug around those parts. I like to think gourm has a good relationship with scavs, so they get their own scav name.
Artificer: no name, or Citizen/Ruffian. She doesn’t actually give herself a name, as she was always a loner, even when she had pups. Her pups called her mom, of course, but she refuses to identify that way anymore. The only names she has are Citizen and Ruffian, though she doesn’t care for either. She just can’t tell Pebbles to stop calling her that. Also, scavs would call her Vengeance
Rivulet: Ruffles, but she has many names. She came from far away, and met a couple other iterators on the way. They all called rivulet different things, and Rivulet is actually one of them! Moon is their favorite though, so they stick with Ruffles after meeting her.
Saint: they go by Solution. They don’t have any scugs to communicate with, but they know what they are. After all, Sliver of Straw told them as much. They are the Solution. The Triple Affirmative. Even if they don’t know exactly what that means, it is still what they are.
umm um for the rw doodles - how about SRS having a chat with spearmaster using the language they made for them :D
The Spearmaster describing creatures they met while on their adventures! Of course SRS saw everything through the overseer but they’re just happy to chat with Spearmaster :)
I adore the fact that SRS developed a sign language for the two to talk to each other.
Disclaimer: These signs are based off of ASL signs but I am not very knowledgeable on the language.
Based on the way I actually dance in real life. The gameplay clips are also mine. It turns out drawing backgrounds in Flipaclip is not great, and it's better to draw them out of program to import later. Aggressive Inline (2002) for Gamecube changed my 7 year old brain chemistry the same way Rain World is doing right now.
