The locket contains the hair of Duke Edward and Duchess Victoria of Kent. It reads " Present from her Mother to her beloved Victoria on the First Anniversary of her Birthday 24 May 1820. The gift from the Duchess of Kent was one of a group of jewels that were placed in the " Albert Room " at Windsor Castle after the death of Queen Victoria in 1901. Réplica da coroa do rei Henrique VIII, que costumava ser utilizada pelos monarcas ingleses do século XVI até o reinado de Charles I, exposta no Palácio de Hampton Court. Descrita pela primeira vez durante o reinado de Henrique VIII, inicialmente a peça incluía três figuras de Cristo, uma de São Jorge e outra da Virgem Maria e seu filho. Relatos posteriores à morte do soberano, em 1547, revelam que os três Cristos foram substituídos por três monarcas, entre eles Henrique VI.

Segundo Leanda de Lisle, biógrafa do rei Charles I (último monarca a usar a coroa real), é possível que as figuras, assim como as outras peças do conjunto, tenham sido removidas antes da Guerra Civil estourar em 1640. A descoberta recente de uma das peças originais aconteceu nas proximidades do campo da batalha de Naseby, para onde o rei Charles e seus companheiros se viram forçados a fugir depois de terem sido derrotados pelo exército de Cromwell.

Durante a fuga, o monarca abandonou todos os seus objetos e papeis, incluindo itens de valor. Isso explicaria como parte da joias da coroa acabou parando naquela localidade. Em 1646, Charles finalmente se rendeu aos seus inimigos e em 30 de janeiro de 1649 foi executado em Whitehall. Sua coroa (ou o que restou dela – pesando 7 libras e seis onças e avaliada pelo Parlamento em £ 1.100) foi reduzida a moedas e 344 gemas individuais.

Segundo informação dos Palácios Históricos Reais, a coroa pode ter sido feita tanto para Henrique VII, fundador da Dinastia Tudor, quanto para seu filho, Henrique VIII, sendo sucessivamente utilizada nas coroações dos outros monarcas da Casa Real: Eduardo VI, Maria I e Elizabeth I. Depois disso, o rei Charles I foi retratado ao lado da peça em 1631, permitindo assim que os especialistas a recriassem de forma “muito precisa”.

The Royal Wedding Gift: The Sapphire Suite

The Sapphire Suite was gifted to Princess Elizabeth in 1947 by King George VI as a wedding gift.

This suite was made in 1850 and the original set consisted of a long necklace of oblong sapphires which were surrounded by diamonds and separated by diamond collets. And to match the necklace, there was a pair of free-swinging, square-shaped sapphire earrings, boarded with diamonds and hanging from three collet stones.

However, in 1952, The Queen had the necklace shortened by removing the largest sapphire, and later in 1959, she had that central sapphire made into a pendant that can also be worn as a brooch.

In 1963, Her Majesty commissioned the matching tiara and bracelet to complete the Sapphire parure.
