Where “Chloe” once hung
The curious passer-by in Lonsdale St may wonder why an old-fashioned pair of wrought iron gates, slung between two stone pillars, stand in splendid isolation beside the modern office buildings at No. 460.
A closer look will reveal the word “Rostella” amongst the moss and other growths near the top of each pillar.
The gates and pillars are all that remain of Rostella, a magnificent mansion that used to occupy 468 Lonsdale St. It was built and owned by Dr (later Sir) Thomas Naghten Fitzgerald, a prominent Melbourne surgeon in the latter part of the 19th century.
Fitzgerald was also the owner of Chloe, the famous portrait of a female nude by Jules Lefebre. In 1883 Fitzgerald went to Ireland for three years and offered Chloe to the National Gallery of Victoria for exhibition while he was away.
Her display in the gallery scandalised the residents of Melbourne, particularly as the gallery had begun opening on Sundays. After only three weeks Chloe was removed from display and shipped to Adelaide where she met a more tolerant reception.
Back again with Dr Fitzgerald, Chloe hung in Rostella for the next 21 years. Initially she was on a wall in the front salon but was visible from the street. Once again the good burghers of Melbourne were affronted by this display and poor Chloe was relegated to a back room.
Following Fitzgerald’s death in 1908, Chloe was purchased by Henry Young of Young & Jackson’s hotel at the corner of Flinders and Swanston streets, where she has resided ever since.

Part 3, here we go!
*~*~*~*
"Liz, please wake up."
Jen stated at the unconscious girl in front of her. It was all her fault.
Three months. Liz had been like this for three months. And it was all her fault. All her fault that Liz was possibly going to be asleep forever. The thought of it made her sick.
"Stars, Liz. I'm so sorry. I'm so, so, so, SO sorry. This is all my fault. I acted stupid, and didn't think, and I hurt you, and now you're like this because of me... Because I acted like an idiot. Please, Liz, come back. For Bri, and Shel, and Thal, and your mom, but most of all..."
Three months for her to think about things. To realize how far she was willing to go for Elizabeth. And she knew.
She'd do anything for her. Because she loved her.
"Do it for me. Not because I deserve it, but because I want to tell you how I feel, and I want to apologize for how much I hurt you. I'm sorry, and I promise if you wake up... I'll make things right... Just please Liz.."
Jen felt the tears begin to fall.
 "Please wake up."
 *~*~*~*
Bri wasn't like her family.
She'd always sort of been the leader. But how do you lead a team after this?
Liz still showed no signs of waking up, until that day.
Jen was leaving, and Bri had come to take over the watch, in case Liz woke up.
So it was a surprise, after three months of nothing, when Liz began to talk in her sleep.
Bri began shaking Liz, thinking her brain was finally working. But she remained in a deep slumber. She remained gone.
So, Bri told her stories.
Stories of a group of half-alien teenage girls, who fought monsters in a small seaside town.
She told stories of a great war, and the years after it.
She told stories of the team meeting its fifth member, a shy girl who had a kind heart, who could make flowers bloom wherever she stepped.
And she told stories of the shy girl and her cousin getting to know each other, the shy girl trying to learn from the wisest of the group, only to fail miserably and laugh. Stories of the shy girl and the young warrior bringing her out of her shell. And finally, the story of how the shy girl and the soldier girl fell in love, and had a happy ending.
"You see, Liz? Those girls are us! We're going to have our happy endings, because you and Jen are gonna have your big happily ever after! Because no matter what, I know you'll wake up. You're one of us Liz. Forever."
And as Bri turned to walk away-
"I'm honored."
And turned back to find Liz with her eyes open
*~*~*~*
The first five minutes of being awake was being assaulted with huge by Bri.
She smiled, and saw tears pour down Bri's face.
Suddenly, she ran off, yelling something incoherent that still made Liz smile. But soon, the smile was replaced by a frown.
What she'd seem while unconscious... Yes, it appeared she had more secrets to her family than she originally thought.
'Find the truth' The shadows had whispered in her mind.
And as she stared at the black diamond tattooed into her arm, Elizabeth Rostella Diamente knew she'd have to do just that.
*~*~*~*
Jen ran. And ran. And ran. And ran.
She was awake. Liz was awake.
She was Liz again, not some broken body.
She watched Liz look up in shock as she slammed the door opened.
 "Jen? Are you ok- Hmph!"
Liz was silenced by Jen kissing her.
She heard Bri say something about lovebirds and catching up, but Jen tuned it out.
She ran her hands over Liz, scared it was some screwed up dream. But she knew. It wasn't.
She pulled back for air to find Liz as pink as her gem.
"J-J-J-Jen?"
And Jen finally started crying, wrapping her arms around Liz.
"Hey–it’s okay, what’s wrong?”
“I’m sorry–I just thought something had happened to you. I don’t know what I would do …”
“I’m fine; I’m right here, see? Everything’s okay."
 "No, it's not."
Liz looked up to find Jen looking right at her.
"I acted like a dumbass, and almost got you killed. You almost died Liz."
She watched the Diamond hybrid hug herself. "I know."
"Liz, I'm so sorry. It's all my fault that you got hurt, and I'll never forgive myself for that. But..."
She kissed Liz again, and smiled.
"I love you more than I've loved anything. You mean so much to me, and it took nearly losing you for me to realize that. I love you, Elizabeth Rostella Diamente. Now, and forever."
Liz say there with her mouth wide open. "I... Uh..."
'Come on, Liz. The girl you have a mega crush on just kinda-sorta professed her love to you, say something!'
"Uh... Same, Jen."
'Damn it!'
Jen just sat by Liz, and smiled.
An hour later, a nurse walked in, and found Jen and Liz asleep, huddled together. She smiled, and threw a blanket over the two, walking away whistling like nothing happened.
*~*~*~*
Meanwhile, a shadow watched over young Elizabeth.
"Lady Obsidian? We've gotten confirmation from Jet. Stage One is complete."
"Excellent. Begin Stage Two. And Pearl?"
"Yes?"
"Make sure I can maintain a mental link with my niece at all times. I think it's about time someone teach her the family buisness.

Prologue: (title is TBA)
(A/N: This is another story I'm in the progress of writing. This complete story is from my own creativity and imagination. The other story I have posted (Slowly Drowning) is turning into a supernatural fanfiction so yeah I just kinda let it happen. Anyways enough talking on with the story.) Sarith stared into the distance. The sky was a deep crimson fading into a black onyx. There were no indigos, no pale violets, no bleached pinks. Just red. The sky once a vivid blue had transitioned to the colour of blood and then, black. Just black. There were no stars shining down. No moon could be seen overhead. It was dark. The only thing that could possibly illuminate the dark streets of Ameara was the light of tall wooden posts holding hanging lanterns. Streetlamps. But there was no oil to ignite a flame, which led to a shortage of light everywhere. The city of sun was dark. There had not been one of these occurrences for centuries. Yet there was hope through the darkness. Within the small houses that lined the cobblestone streets were small flames tucked away under stone brick hearths, with ornaments for the Autumn Carnival placed gently along the mantle. A hand rested upon her shoulder as Sarith watched the last of the red disappear. She did not need to look to know that it was the palm of her husband laid gently upon her. Alandir Fairfostroff, High King of Azuré, leader of the Nation of Blue, the largest country of all of Meleaa. His name held respect in every decent corner of the world; he never ceased to love and be loved in return. His wife, beautiful at that, was with child, a boy, many believed, but the Royal Family wished for a darling girl. But the odds were against them as they had four sons. They loved them all so very much but Sarith longed for a daughter. A princess. Someone she could teach how to dress as a lady. Someone who would perhaps have the same pastimes as her. But time after time her hopes were thrown away, and time after time she was blessed with a beautiful baby boy. “It’s about time we head in, is it not?” Alandir held his arm out for his wife to take as he escorted her into the palace of glistening gold. Inside the palace was just as tranquil as without. Servants drowsily made their way to their beds as the King and Queen made their own way to the splendid bedroom they shared. Suddenly, out of the blue, Sarith doubled over clutching her stomach in pain only to be caught by the quick reflexes of her husband whose face was washed with worry. Heart hammering, she struggled to stand straight through the sudden pain. “Darling! Are you alright!” Alandir spoke quickly quickly with panic laced through his voice like the finest thread being stitched into satin. “Alandir! Send for Nalina, Please!” Sarith ordered through gasps. Nalina was the name of the Doula prepared to aid Sarith through childbirth. If she needed her Doula now it could only mean one thing. “You mean? Now?” Alandir stammered, lightly brushing his hand over the swell of the queen’s stomach. “Yes now! Stop standing there and get Nalina!” Sarith hissed as Alandir sped off down the corridor in search of the brunette Doula. Two maids who had observed the commotion rushed to Sarith’s side each supporting one side in order to help her reach the hospital wing. ∽∽∽∽∽∽∽∽∽∽∽∽ Nalina burst through the heavy oak doors the KIng following suite. Her gaze fell over Sarith, laying in the cot with maids fawning over her and dabbing wet wash cloths over her face. The hushed whispers of reassurance could faintly be heard over the moans of pain escaping the Queen’s lips. “Let me get through! Let me get through!” Nalina stated in a hurried voice. The maids parted for the experienced woman who approached the bed in long swift strides while her nightgown brushed against her bare feet. “Hello Sarith.” She cooed brushing stray strands over auburn hair from the woman’s face. The ringlets were coated with sweat as was the fair skin that many lesser maidens longed for. “Now. On the count of three, you know what must be done. ONe, two, three.” Cries could be heard throughout the whole palace and Landir struggled to ignore the feeling of his wife clutching onto his finger so hard his fingers resembled plums and his palms were a ghostly white. It was in this moment when all was as it should be, that a guard named Hector, clad in glistening steel armor, swung the door open so hard you would’ve thought the hinges had come flying off. For a split second all eyes were on the man who had the audacity to interrupt the birthing of a royal child. “My Lord Alandir. The rebels of the West are attacking, the palace must be evacuated for your safety.” The King looked at his wife, face pale in shock and worry. Oh the inconvenience. It was almost too much. He released her hand, shook of the pain of the blood returning to it, and looked to Nalina, whose face already pale was now the colour of paper. “Nalina, make sure she gets out safely. The Rebels won't cease to kill anyone they can find. I will not stand by as they destroy my city and rain death upon my people.” He followed the guard who couldn’t have been over the age of fifteen to where the soldiers were mustering to prepare for battle leaving Nalina to tend to the queen. The Doula observed the queen writhing in pain and wondered how on earth she could get this woman in labor all the way into the escape tunnel, down two flights of stairs and into the safe haven that was run by the Mignons, small people with upturned noses, pigtails, and big round eyes. They dwelled in underground caverns and gave a cheery air to the dark caves and ravines. An idea popped into her head as she grabbed a large sheet off a shelf and laid it out flat, The maids gently lifted Sarith and transferred her onto the white linen, years of lifting baskets of laundry and moving around furniture had done them well as they lifted her almost effortlessly. The two maids took the two corners on either end of the sheet and lifted her into the air as Nalina held her hand just above her tailbone to support her in the middle. They moved over to the door of the escape route and the maid at the head pushed it open with her rump as the maid in the back had the duty of flipping down the wooden beam that would keep any unwanted guests from following them down the tunnel. Which she also did with her behind. The door shut and with the wallpaper matching perfectly with the wall of the hospital wing it was almost impossible to tell there was a door there unless you already knew. Sarith groaned in pain and clutched at the arm of the young maid helping support her weight as they made their way along the dark tunnel. Sarith cried out again, this time it was so loud Nalina had to tear a piece of cloth from her apron and stick it in her mouth to keep the queen from giving away their position. Nalina pitied the woman. Having four children of her own she could understand the unbearable pain of delivering a child. But she could also understand the amazing feeling of holding her newborn child in her arms. After twelve minutes of walking it was evident that the queen had no choice but to deliver her child in the tunnel or the risked losing them both. They set Sarith down, the only thing separating her from the cold floor was the thin sheet but with all the stress of giving birth the coolness of the stone was refreshing and welcomed. “Okay. We’re going to try this again. One, two, three.” Had her cries not been muffled by the cloth they would’ve surely been discovered. Cry after cry, after cry, after cry. Clearly they were getting nowhere. When almost all hope was lost a new cry was heard. It was not a cry of pain or death. It was the sign of life. New life. This time Nalina took over her whole apron entirely to wrap up the child who was no longer crying just sleeping peacefully. Despite popular belief the baby was brought into the world. A daughter was brought into the world. A princess. A girl. The tears brimming in the queen’s eyes were no longer from pain, but more the happiness that any mother would feel after giving life to a beautiful child. She passed the sleeping child to the awaiting mother who let the tears escape her eyes as she looked at the face of her daughter. Her only daughter. But the moment was short lived. Thuds echoed through the tunnel. Though they were three quarters of the way there the tunnel was straight and had little turns or twists, they could still hear the sounds of the Rebels attempting to break down the secret door that clearly wasn’t that secret anymore. They was a final crack and there was the sound of the door being brought down on the floor of the tunnel. “They’re coming.” Said the youngest maid who looked to be only fourteen. Waves of panic came crashing down upon the quartet of women who were so shocked that they could only stare back the way they came for a brief moment. “We must move. Now.” Nalina stated taking up the head as the two maids took their places with the youngest supporting Sarith’s middle. They moved quickly but carefully down the tunnel, Walking with haste and a desperation to not be caught but at the same time with enough care to ensure that they would not put the queen in more pain or awaken the sleeping child who would give them away for sure if she began to cry. Along the tunnel they flew as quick as they possibly could. They stopped once they had reached the door in which the pushed open to reveal a vast underground network of tunnels, bridges, buildings and shops. But there was something different about them. They were all tiny and petite, as if made for children. They had reached Rostella, the KIngdom of the Mignons. The King Boronder, dressed in purple robes and a small golden bead woven into one of his pigtails was quick to greet his guests. “Queen Sarith. I am glad you have made it here alive. Please let us make you at home in our city.” His voice was manly and deep, Not something you would expect from such a small person. “Your Highness. I am sorry to interrupt but this is very important. The Rebels of the West have made it into the tunnel and they will invade your city as well if you do not create some sort of defense, and fast.” Everyone in the group stopped to look at the young girl who had barely spoken a word since she had received her job as a maid. All except for Boronder who had no knowledge of her profession or social status. “Of course my dear. I am having my court wizards put up a protective spell to completely hide the entrance to our city completely and make it impossible for them to open it even if they do happen to find it. But thank you for your consideration.” He spoke like a true king, metaphorically speaking his heart was so big he probably didn’t have enough room for it inside his small body, which was half the size of the average human. “But all of you, my Queen Sarith especially, are in dire need of rest and proper mending.” Boronder stated beckoning them to follow him into a slightly larger house that was probably built with the intentions of humans staying in them. They followed him into the first room which was the largest and only bedroom on the main floor which obviously meant that Sarith would be staying there as they could not possibly expect her to walk up a flight of stairs after just giving birth. A cradle was brought forth as the three women placed the queen gently on the plush bed of soft fur blankets and magnificent quilts. They shimmied the blankets out from underneath the woman who held her child close to her chest in order to feed her. The baby opened her eyes just a crack for a split second before shutting them close yet again. “Someone will need to stay with her for the night. She cannot walk therefore she will not be able to reach her daughter if the baby is to row hungry in the night.” Nalina stated leaning up against the wall to rest her weary legs. “I can. I’ve had experience with small children before. My mother earned money by watching the children of guards and other couples who both worked and did not have the time to care for their children.” The young maid replied, still surprisingly perky and happy despite just witnessing the birth of a child and having a near death experience. The two older women were too tired to argue and retired to their bedrooms upstairs. The girl sat on the plush chair that rested next to the bed. Her eyes surveyed the room, for nothing in particular but just to perhaps give her something else to do, or maybe to make it look like she was doing something. So the two women stayed like that for a few minutes before the voice of the queen broke the silence. “Tell me, what is your name child?” The girl’s head snapped up at the sound of Sarith’s voice. “My, my name?” The maid stammered, unsure of how to address the Queen’s question. “Yes, your name. Skip the formalities and just tell me your name. That is all I want.” Sarith’s voice was slightly raspy but it was bound to be as she had done so much screaming her throat could’ve been sore for a week. “My name is Mae. Just Mae. No middle name either. And my mom was an orphan and my father left before I was born, so I have no last name as well. Just Mae.” Sarith hummed in Acknowledgement. Mae bit her lip, hoping she had said the right thing. It was not an attractive or flirty lip bite, she was full on clamping her teeth down of her lip in anxiety. “Do not make yourself bleed little one. A lady should control herself in all ways, which is something you must know. Now what was I going to do. Ah yes. Do you know what a Guardian is?” Mae shook her head. She had heard it said before but she knew not of the meaning. “A Guardian is someone a parent entrusts their child to at birth, so that if something tragic happens to the parents they have someone to give their children to instead of sending them off to an orphanage. So I would like you, Mae, to be the guardian of my daughter. I know you are young, but you are brave, you helped bring this child into this world and if anything happens to me I want you to take care of her. Can you do that for me?” Mae nodded her head, unable to speak. The Queen wanted her to be the Guardian of the princess! It was almost unthinkable. She was nothing special just a fourteen year old maid. It was an incredible honour. “What are you going to name her? I know you normally wait eight days to see if she’ll survive but even if she does pass she should at least have a name.” Sarith looked down to her child and smiled. “Alana Elizabeth Mae.” “What about a last name though?” “To honour her guardian, she does not have one.”

I wouldn't listen to her, she'll only break your heart. ((Can you make a story for Jenny and Liz out of this?)) ~christiankidbri
I'm gonna use the idea I told you about. :P
*~*~*~*
Liz was looking around Beach City, and the smile on her face rivaled the brilliance of the sun. At least, that's what Jen thought.
To her, everything about Liz was an enigma, something she wanted to know more about. If it meant getting to love even more about her, then she'd gladly learn everything. She was already so wonderful.
Elizabeth Rostella Diamente was Pink Diamond's daughter. She cut her golden brown hair to an inch above her chin, and it complemented her amber eyes. She was shy, but was a spitfire deep down, and she loved the way her eyes wrinkled at the corners when she laughed. She was beautiful in every single way.
And no matter how much she wanted to, she could never tell that beautiful girl just how damn much she loved her.
Bri teased her about it all the time, and she admitted she did have a crush on her. But in her own eyes, Jen was Icarus, and Liz was the sun. No matter how high she flew, she knew she'd never have her. She was royalty, after all.
Her thoughts was halted when she heard Liz scream, and looked over to where she was.
And she felt her heart stop as she realized Pearl held her spear to her throat.
*~*~*~*
Liz had no idea why these three women had attacked her. She just knew they were going to kill her.
She was paralyzed by fear, save for the shaking from the panic she was currently having.
She felt this string inside her, and she could feel it radiating with something. Curious, Liz tugged on it.
And everything went black.
*~*~*~*
Jen didn't know what to expect. She certainly didn't expect for Liz to grab Pearl's spear and melt it.
She watched as Liz rose from the ground, and felt something like fear shoot through her as she saw Liz's face.
Because instead of being that normal amber, they were glowing a pure fiery pink.
She watched as vines shot from the ground, poofing Pearl. She turned, and Jen caught a glimpse of those eyes, utterly devoid of life.
She saw Liz becoming something deadly. And she couldn't take it.
Apparently, neither could Bri.
Bri ran over to Liz, grabbing her arm. Slowly, like a predator, Liz turned her head, and those awful eyes, toward Bri.
 "Release me."
Jen heard Liz's voice come out.
Bri was yelling for her to stop when Liz backhanded her into the cliff wall. Jen heard a sickening crunch.
She didn't bother looking to Bri. She looked at Liz, and knew she wanted her to be hurt.
She was running at her when Liz started shaking. She was clutching her head. She looked up, and Jen saw her eyes were back to normal.
She didn't care that her eyes were normal again. She growled at the frightened girl, and walked away.
*~*~*~*
(Later that night)
Liz held her backpack, and called Shelley.
 "Hello?"
 "Hi Shel."
Shelley felt her heart clench at how broken her friend sounded.
 "Liz?"
 "I guess this is goodbye."
Shelley felt her heart stop. Goodbye?
 "Liz, where are you?"
"Tell Bri I'm sorry. And tell Jen that I'm sorry for what I did."
" Liz that wasn't your fault, tell me where you are so I can-"
"What, help me?" A bitter laugh. "Nobody can help me Shel. I'm a monster."
 "Liz! Liz, stop, please-!"
She heard a crunch on the other line.
When she looked at her phone, Shelley dropped it and ran to find Thalia.
Because when she looked at her phone, she saw that Liz was gone.
