PROGRESS UPDATE

hey everyone, sorry i haven’t updated in a long time. i’ve been dealing with a lot of family losses and thought that it was high time i tried not to interact with social media for a while. it’s not 100% okay, frankly i don’t think it’ll ever be back to normal, but i hope to cope with it regardless since i have a good support system rn.

as for writing, i’ve started on chapter 2 of WLB since i got done with the multiple presentations and reports i needed to do for this semester. there were a lot of medico-legal aspects to cover so that there won’t be many plot holes but hey, at least being a forensics major is coming into use rn. i hope to finish it up and release it before 2023 ends.

i’ve started on the scenes introducing J and am debating on working on the detective introduction at the same time too while i’m at it. sebas will either be introduced in this chapter or the next, depending on how the flow works. overall, i’m quite satisfied with how the chapter is shaping up.

i’m graduating next summer too (class of 2024, unite!) so i’ll be extra busy with all the internships and reports and seminars i need to run around for. however, i’ll still try to write whenever i get free time cause writing is one of my gateways to moments of peace and quiet.

once i get the second chapter out for WLB, i have plans to rest and focus on applying for a master’s degree. hopefully in 2-3 years, i’ll have a satisfactory job which will let me pursue writing part-time on the side.

the dildo of life’s tragedies rarely comes lubed, bonnie. my boy got reality checked so hard that he was inches from death ☠️

but truth be told, he still believes that there are kind people out there who do good things for no reason. the number one reason for his faith in this still persisting is that MC saved them when literally they had nothing to gain from doing so.

his self-esteem is so low that he believed that he was insignificant enough to be left there to die. but MC still saved them, and it solidified his belief that people are inherently good. people are kind. just like the person who saved him and nursed him back to health.

Animal symbolism? Hello?? The more I think about it, the more it makes sense that the MC has the symbolism of a snake with how deceptive it can be and hide itself among its surroundings. And the whole Christianity thing reminded me of the snake who told Eve to eat the apple, thus dooming mankind. What are the symbolism of the other ROs now I'm curious

you hit it right on the head, dear bonnie. MC is great at shedding their skin and having most people wrapped around their finger. they’re also very cunning and manipulative so it’s no wonder they fit right in with how their family’s history is 🤭

to answer your question: yes, i do have a love triangle route plan and suffice to say that it’s gonna be juicy asf 🤭

at first, i planned to make it between J and sebas but upon reflection, i think sebas will have too little self-confidence to even try pursuing MC when he finds out his opponent is their borderline insane childhood best friend. the real deal will be J vs the detective because J isn’t about to lose to a two-penny hotshot detective and the detective will have too much fun rising to the challenge of making the MC choose them.

do i think it’s going to become an angsty little emotional shit show as everyone gets too involved and hearts break one by one? yes, but i will never turn down a challenge to make my characters suffer as much as possible 😈

i agree, bonnie 😞 our resident wet cat journalist deserves some love and attention too <3 i’ll just give y’all a not-so-little snippet of the scene in which they met. spoiler warning since this will be present in the game:

‘this is the worst fucking day of my career,’ sebastián thought bitterly.

the clouds thunder heavily in the night. rain drops fall in tandem with the unrelenting wind which makes the trees sway surrounding the road. the whole atmosphere was miserably cold and wet.

every single bone in sebas’s body hurt like crazy. he wonders why the hell did he even try to fight off the muggers, they outnumbered him by a lot and he had multiple cuts and bruises to show for it. darkness threatens to encroach his vision but he fought it off. he knew he’d really end up dead if he let his growing fatigue overpower him.

but hope was dwindling inside him. no one was going to come looking for him. it’s not like he had many friends. the only man he even dared to call a friend had gone missing weeks ago. and now sebastian was going to end up joining him too. the only difference was that they never found henry, while they’d find his body on the side of this abandoned road.

his stomach growls and a weary sigh leaves his body. what he wouldn’t give for a warm meal right now. maybe a bowl of his mom’s homemade chicken soup.

“you’ve been working hard again, mijo,” she’d tut while running her fingers through his shaggy dark hair. “díos mio, you worry your poor mother too much.”

a broken sob threatens to leave his throat. sebas knew he made for a pathetic sight. it was his fault he ended up in this situation after all, and he could not change it no matter what.

the stab wound on the side of his stomach stings and almost makes him blackout as he tries, in vain, to keep it from bleeding out. his assailants had made sure that he couldn’t go for help, even if he tried to crawl to the nearest hospital.

this is it. this is where he dies. this is where the short life of sebastián rafael navarro ends. shivering and sobbing on the side of an abandoned road while he dreams of a warm meal and a life unfulfilled.

suddenly, the screech of a pair of tires halt his increasingly pessimistic musing. he vaguely notices the touch of a gloved hand on his neck and wrist, checking for a pulse. sebastián wonders if he’s already dead and is currently being examined by an angel. he questions himself if they can feel how faint his pulse is, how faint he feels.

sebas hears them curse, and he wonders if angels are allowed to do that. struggling to open his eyes against the onslaught of the rain, he manages to catch a glimpse of a white coat and a face which makes his breath catch in his throat. he decides that his angel theory didn’t seem so ridiculous after all.

“it’ll be okay. i’ll take care of you.”

it is the last thing he hears before he feels himself fall unconscious while the ‘angel’ hauls him up with an unnatural strength and places him on a warm leather seat.

it's been ages since the ask was sent but better late than never teehee

j park: they are an oppenheimer person without a shadow of doubt. granted it's mostly because their emo ass absolutely hates barbie and the concept of pink things in general. if MC manages to convince them then maybe they'll give it a chance 👀

t kaufmann: they will vehemently say that they're team oppenheimer but you highly doubt that after seeing them buy pink clothes to wear to watch barbie in the theatres on release day 😭(they're not really fooling anyone)

vivienne malhotra: surprisingly prefers oppenheimer since she has a strange fascination with movies about death and tragedy 💀 but she won't say no to watching barbie either. she thinks it's the best of both worlds

sebastián navarro: he expected to like oppenheimer more but his attention span couldn't stand hours of drama. after watching barbie though, he related a lot to ken (more than he'd liked), and it'll probably be one of his comfort movies for a long time. the poor babie is kenough 🥹

hi! sorry if you've gotten this question before but im curious about the plot. will it all revolve around the detective investigating the main serial killings or will we be helping them investigate other things as well kind of like in hannibal?

a little bit of both. i’ll try to explain as much as i can without spoiling much:

the chapters will be a mixture of: the general backstory of the people MC will target + the whole process of how MC will lure or kidnap them before killing + the investigation which will take place. there will be times when the investigations will hit too close to him, but that’s where MC’s general charisma and intelligence comes in to divert or straight up thwart any progress made by the detective.

vivienne (bless her heart) will be one of the factors on how you even hear of some of the most outrageous confessions and plight of people since she’s connected to the psychiatric department. J and sebas will, at least at first, be the unsuspecting accomplices to your escapades and even when J does eventually find out (either by you or by themself), they’ll jump on the chance to help you. note that sebas’s role will be more of a secret card for now so 🫢

the only antagonistic characters, as per the MC, are the people who are investigating the more confusing disappearances. you can take the detective as the antagonist for the MC as it’s their posting in the town which will set the ball rolling. of course, it’s gonna be extra angsty if you’re romancing them and they find out that you were the killer all along, but you’ll still be able to manipulate them into accepting that you did it for the greater good of the world.

Hey this might be a silly question but how do you decide on the kind of MC you want to use for the edits, also the ROs. I love your game btw, I play it religiously and pray for an update soon 😭

it’s not a silly question, don’t worry. i get the MC ideas from my friends on discord, along with the ROs they want it to be with! i also take into account some of my readers’ requests in my tumblr inbox. editing is just something which motivates me to write and it also helps that it helps add visuals to the story, alongside meeting the MCs that everyone has created.

thank you so much for your support, bonnie! i promise i’m working on updates but additional projects + my final year of uni is really kicking my ass 💀 updates will get regular when i’m finally done with my undergraduate degree for good tho so that’s something to look forward to

What are our other evil half twin's opinion on MC's choice of RO? Who would they get along best with?

j park: very weird at times (they’re one to talk 🙄); cannot understand what their intention are; appreciates that they’ve always been there for the MC; in awe of why they haven’t gone deaf yet with all the loud music they hear and play; eventually would end up liking them, tho they’d still think J’s kinda creepy (again, look who’s talking)

t kaufmann: suspicious and wary; does not approve of how their denial of their feelings is gonna hurt the MC in the long run; does not trust them with driving MC’s car, or any car tbh; wonders how they have a high IQ while simultaneously messing around (and falling) with the serial killer he is after; all in all, they can respect how much T wants to keep people safe tho

vivienne malhotra: genuinely confused about why she cares so much; they aren’t too familiar with unconditional affection from strangers so viv will throw them off the loop; wonders how she even stands how chaotic her siblings are; begrudgingly think that she’s a sweet person with no strings attached

sebastián navarro: all they see is a man who is broken by his circumstances; a bit suspicious about how easy he warmed up to the MC; his eventual obsession with the MC won’t come as a surprise; does not understand how he can still care about the town which treated him so poorly; they pity him, in a drowned cat kinda way tho

How would the RO’s react if the Mc asked them to cat-sit for them while they were out of town for a few days…totally not tracking down say Avery no way no how.

j park: a bit nervous. salem already doesn’t seem all that interested in them, plus they haven’t missed all the stink eye she throws at them when they’re swooning over the MC (chill J, they are literally just wiping the bloody floor 💀). she will meow at them at ungodly hours until J fills up the food bowl again. then act like she hurt herself to give them another heart attack.

they’ll definitely try to bribe salem with treats to no avail, she’ll just turn up her nose and walk away. J better sleep with one eye open too cause miss salem’s gonna purposely miss to poop in her litter box just to annoy them.

t kaufmann: nope. not a chance. salem is up and out the door before the detective can even settle in. they’ll search the entire backyard and end up finding her on the roof. then after they manage to get a ladder to bring her down, she’ll jump on their head and land gracefully on the floor, strutting away into the house. T is gagged and gooped, needless to say.

salem will haughtily meow at how the detective is gonna ‘psspss’ at them, giving them a look equivalent of “are you serious?”. she will warm up to them just for the night because they’re an excellent body warmer but it’s back to their shenanigans when it’s morning.

vivienne malhotra: she has cat-sit salem before so she has no problem doing it. viv thinks she’s an absolute sweetheart and spoils her rotten by playing with her, giving her treats and giving in to her demands for scratches. salem thinks viv is an excellent scratching pole too, always rubbing against her legs, arms, chin, wherever she can find purchase.

she is a proper lady when viv is around and will gladly bask in all the praises she gets showered in. even MC would have a hard time believing how much salem likes someone who isn’t them, honestly. you’ll find her snuggling and taking a nap at viv’s lap most of the time.

sebastián navarro: has literally zero experience with cats and is an awkward mess around salem. honestly, she just finds him amusing and would do random shit like jumping around and scratching on his jeans to make him panic. she’d eventually let him pet her, although in a way that screams that it’s a privilege that not everyone will have.

salem is an attention-hogger and would meow like crazy until he picks her up. sebas will have the shock of his life when she brings him a dead bird as a gift and he’d probably think she’s planning on murdering him in his sleep (pls come home MC, this is a cry for help)
