Colegio Hebreo Monte Sinaí – Digital Media Library
To the southwest of Mexico City is located the Monte Sinaí School, an institution of more than 60 years that has trained guys in their primary and secondary education. The design of the digital media library arose from the identification of an underused space of the school, a remaining area in the basement of the auditorium of approximately 4,000 sq. m that was adjacent to the elementary building and some computer rooms.
The project opens up new circulations and connects the different levels of the school through new stairs, turning the epicentre of the school towards this area. The media library divides the spaces by age groups and uses the height of the ceilings at heritage, computer area and steps, furniture and graphic design to highlight this distinction.
The media library has wooden steps that break the emptiness of a great double height that dominates the space, creating a more welcoming scale and inviting a multiplicity of uses and positions to encourage students to meet and hang. When we reach the end of the wooden bleachers, a reading and study room connects the area to the classrooms and other study rooms. Here, the media library shows off its great height with an industrial aesthetic ceiling that achieves a special rhythm by combining the front and back of the perforated sheets that balance the scale of the place.
On the other hand, by reducing the height due to the original structure of the Colegio Hebreo Monte Sinaí building, the existing dimensions are used to create a library where furniture, walls and floor are bathed in a striking yellow. In the last space we find the children’s media library, where the furniture was specially designed for the scale and use of the children at the school.
A new classroom was designed with the Makerspace format, this format is based on an educational laboratory, where it is explored and works with all kinds of tools: 3D printers, carpentry, textiles, robotics and cooking in order to make theoretical knowledge practical. The project reinforces the new educational conception that proposes to integrate knowledge through experimentation.
These new classrooms are related to the corridors and the access plaza with glass walls that allow students who are in another space to observe how learning is taking place within these classrooms and laboratories, becoming a more transcendent event than that of the classroom traditional. Curiosity is opened to other age and interest groups.
The furniture and different facilities of the place are what ignite the spark of collaboration and exchange. All the technical aspects that allow and promote the study in this new space were taken care of the lighting design and acoustic control make working in these new facilities very comfortable and efficient.
Given that the public the school serves is children and youth, colour was used boldly; saturating with intensity the transitional spaces or where little time is spent and balancing it more in the spaces of longer stay; resulting in a jovial, professional and cheerful space.

Arplis - News: 7 Under-the-Radar Southwest Snowbird Destinations
Notice all that RV traffic heading south along North Americas highways and Interstates? It means that the migration of the RV snowbirds is well underway. Indeed, the population of the southwestern United States swells significantly as snowbirds set up camp in places like Yuma, Palm Springs and Albuquerque. You may find the biggest residency fluctuation in Quartzsite, Arizona, a town with a summer populace of barely 4,000 that grows to more than one million when the winter snowbirds arrive. Visitors here descend on this expanse of desert on Interstate 10 west of Phoenix for flea markets, gem shows and RV lifestyle events. For many travelers, theQuartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Showis the main attraction.
Photo: Mike Goad
But not everybody wants to camp with the crowds. Some folks may prefer to stray off the beaten path in areas that have lots of friendly locals and fewer long-stay RVers. These travelers prefer a place without the huge throngs lining up for restaurants, golf courses, tourist attractions and other hot spots. These smaller communities, with so many happy-to-help locals and short-stay RV travelers, allow RVers to meet a lot of people.
Here are just a few under-the-radar snowbird destinations where snowbirds truly can spread their wings.
1) Tombstone and surrounding towns, Arizona
Step back in time to 1882 in Tombstone, Arizona, located in southern Arizona near Highway 80. This town earned renown for the famous gunfight at the OK Corral between the Earp brothers, joined by Doc Holliday, and a group of local outlaws. The 30-second shootout is now reenacted daily in the same location. With mock bar fights and gunslingers wandering the streets, the place feels as if it was ripped out of the 1800s. Catch a delicious meal and drink in Big Nose Kates Saloon. Stroll the worn wooden sidewalks and view the authentic shops with unique souvenirs at very reasonable prices. A short walk to the edge of town leads you to the original Boot Hill Cemetery, where you can spend quite some time touring the actual burial sites of many historic and not-so-lucky gunfighters.
Photo: Carol Schmidt
Nearby: Amazing Towns. While the town of Tombstone offers ample Old West charm, its also a great basecamp. From here, you can visit the nearby town of Lowell, where youll feel that youve stepped back in time to the 1950s. Along Erie Street, the gas station, service shops, automobiles, etc., all harken to a more innocent time. No, you havent stepped into a time warp: The towns residents take pride in preserving that 50s feeling.
In the area, youll also find Bisbee, a historic town that was abandoned following the closing of the mining in the area many years ago. The town was later discovered by artists who, over time, renovated many of the houses and businesses. Today, it stands as a beautiful community with great photo opportunities and interesting shops. Further south towards Mexico is the town of Sierra Vista, offering wonderful restaurants, shops and a vibrant vineyard scene that serves up fantastic wines. Keep an eye out for the flitting birds that have given the town the nickname, Hummingbird Capital of the United States.
Photo: tifoultoute
A short drive north from Tombstone in the Benson area is a donkey rescue ranch, Forever Home Donkey Ranch. You need to call ahead to visit this fascinating organization. Also in town are two movie sites, Gammons Gulch and Mescal Studios. Once used for the shooting of Western flicks, these spots may look familiar to cinema and TV buffs.
Cooler weather can be expected in Tombstone, as its elevation is 4,550 feet. The coolest daytime high temperatures during the coldest months are normally about 50 degrees.
Stay: Tombstone RV Park, Tombstone
2) Laughlin, Nevada
Laughlin lies on the banks of the Colorado River about 90 miles to the south of Las Vegas. Although its home to several large casino hotels, it has a homey, laid-back side that gives it fantastic snowbird appeal. The town lies directly across the river from Bullhead City, Arizona, and visitors to this area generally are short-stay folks that come for the gambling, live shows and nightlife.
Photo: Ken Lund
A short drive out of town will take you worlds away from the gaming and entertainment glitz. Ample off-roading for both ATVs and four-wheelers is available in the areas deserts and mountains. Scenery lovers should head to Christmas Tree Pass, situated on a high ridge pass and offering spectacular photo opportunities. Also, Silver Creek Road, which is east of the town of Oatman on the Arizona side, provides 10 miles of a high ground trail run to the north and back to Bullhead City. Sitgreaves Pass Route 66 also is near Oatman and is a must-drive as well.
Photo: Ken Lund
Nearby: Oatman. The century-old ghost town of Oatman is located on the Oatman Highway, formerly Route 66, southeast of Bullhead City in the Black Mountains. Once a mining camp that struck $10 million in gold in 1915, the towns economic fortunes took a downturn, compelling almost everybody to leave by the mid-1930s. Today, with a population of 128, Oatman attracts visitors to stroll its wooden sidewalks and to see its wild burros. Once employed for work, the mammals were abandoned years ago and they now outnumber the locals. The braying creatures roam the town freely and are very entertaining to watch and fun to feed. Dont miss a drink or lunch at the historic Oatman Hotel. There are surprises inside.
Not a fan of burros? Check out the more traditional snowbird pursuits in the area:
Good Golfing The area is rich in lush, green golf courses that contrast with the desert terrain. Youll find them both in Nevada and Arizona, and all are within a short drive.
Boat Rentals There are boats and jet ski rentals to explore the river, just 20 minutes west of Oatman. Discover the many beautiful beaches to be discovered along the shorelines.
Day Trips There are many activities that can be found to the south in the Lake Havasu area and the north at Lake Mead.
Stay: Vista Del Sol RV Resort, Bullhead City, Arizona

3) Pismo Beach, California
Pismo Beach is a seaside town in San Luis Obispo County in Californias beautiful central coast. The town has about 8,500 residents and is part of a cluster of five cities. Here, you can enjoy all that a vibrant beach community can deliver. For the angler, a 1,200-foot pier offers the perfect perch to hook a big catch. If youre after the really big ones, boat rentals or fishing charters are readily available throughout the region.
For the active family, surfing is extremely popular here, drawing people from all over the state. If non-surfers wish to learn, surf lessons are widely available. It should be noted that because of the cold-water temperatures, a wetsuit is a necessity for such water activities. Jet ski rentals can also deliver that wet-and-wild ocean experience.
But for the landlubbers, there are plenty of activities and entertainment venues to enjoy. The Pismo Dunes also are a popular site. ATV rentals here can get your adrenaline going as you glide over the desert-like terrain. There also are beaches in the area that is accessible by car. Its a great way to find the perfect spot for an oceanside picnic.
Photo: Tim Mossholder
There are many scenic places to hike or bike throughout the region, all within easy reach. A wide choice of challenging lush courses await the avid golfer. Quaint shops and unique dining can be found in the downtown area. Although Pismo is a bit more chilly than its counterparts to the south, it nonetheless delivers the quintessential California beach town atmosphere.
Nearby: Morro Bay. Travelers can enjoy the Pismo Beach area as a hub thats well within striking distance of several attractions. Morro Bay, home to the iconic Morro Rock, is only about 25 miles drive from Pismo Beach. Wine touring can also be found in the region and offers both a tasty and educational experience.
Stay: Pismo Coast Village RV Resort, Pismo Beach

4) Monterey, California
Because of its location more than 235 miles north of Santa Barbara, Monterey may be considered to be a bit chilly for snowbird travel. But that means fewer crowds and more opportunities for fun. In fact, the year 2020 is going to be an exciting time to be in Monterey, with ongoing celebrations of the towns 250thyear birthday. There are so many exciting things to do and see in this region, and the historic Cannery Row is a great place to start. It is the original fish canning area that today features world-class restaurants, fancy boutiques and galleries. American author John Steinbeck wrote lovingly of this region in books like Cannery Row and Sweet Tuesday. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is located here and offers a wealth of sea creatures on display in compelling habitats.
Photo: Chase Lewis
While in the area, check out Mission San Carlos Borromio. Monterey is home to several interesting shops as well as more than 100 art galleries in one square mile. The Basilica of Mission San Carlos Borromeo Del Rio Carmelo, dating back to 1770, is the crown jewel of this historic town. Mission Ranch, nearby, is also a great example of early Spanish architecture. This, along with downtown Hogs Breath Inn Restaurant and Bar, is owned by the one time mayor of Carmel and the famous film start Clint Eastwood, who is a resident.
Nearby: Carmel-By-The-Sea. There are many world-class links here, with Pebble Beach Golf Course serving as the home of world-class tournaments. Need we say more! There are scooter rentals (not the Bird kind) available throughout the region, and these offer a great way to tour the coastal communities and picturesque coastline. Hiking and bicycling also are popular. Using Monterey as your base, you are located well for a host of day trips to additional attractions and events. However, during the 2020 celebrations, the hottest tickets may be right in town.
Stay: Coyote Valley RV Resort
Visit Arizona
5) Apache Junction, Arizona
Apache Junction is a small town about 35 miles east of Phoenix and is an ideal basecamp. To the east lies the rugged and historic Superstitious mountains, with ghost towns, abandoned mines and picture-perfect sites to explore. This area is rich with historic sites and offers many fascinating things to see and do. On the outskirts of town,Goldfield Ghost Town takes visitors back to the early days of the gold rush. Here, visitors will find the last remaining narrow-gauge railroad in Arizona, which is still operational today. For those looking for some hands-on fun, a zipline can take you far above the town for a scenic view of the area. To the west, the greater city of Phoenix sprawls for miles offering every type of service imaginable, from unique exclusive boutiques to glittering luxurious shopping malls.
Nearby: Desert Wonders. A visit to the Lost Dutchman State Park, located in the mountains to the east, is a wonderful way to experience the rugged beauty of Arizona. Here, you can enjoy a most scenic hike through the region known for a fabled lost gold mine. You can also take a tour on the Dolly Steamboat, which navigates Canyon Lake. There are many group day tours offering a variety of interesting and entertaining venues.
The Apache Junction area can deliver a great lifestyle for RV snowbirds seeking a new destination for next years winter season.
Stay: Sunrise RV Resort, Apache Junction

6) Truth or Consequences, New Mexico
To learn the origins of the name, Truth or Consequences, youll have to go back to the heyday of radio. In 1950, Ralph Edwards, host of the Truth or Consequences gameshow, announced that hed air his show from the first town that adopted the name of his program. Hot Springs, New Mexico, jumped at the chance for notoriety, and the town has since then taken pride in its quirky name.
With a population of some 6,500 residents, this small resort town of Truth or Consequences offers a wonderful glimpse into years past. Quaint shops and retro restaurants that transport you back to the 80s can be found throughout the downtown area. You can still enjoy the hot mineral waters that served the community decades earlier.
Photo: New Mexico Tourism Department
Five miles northwest, Elephant Butte Lake State Park is an outdoor destination with postcard-worthy scenery and an abundance of recreational opportunities. Whether you want to kayak across the calm water or launch a sailboat into the sunset, Elephant Butte satisfies outdoors enthusiasts of all types.

7) Las Cruces, New Mexico
Las Cruces is the second-largest city in New Mexico and the home of New Mexico State University. Visitors will find an abundance of local attractions here, with 12 museums scattered throughout the city. The Museum of Natural Science studies nature and the animals that live in the region. There are live feedings of the resident creatures daily. You need only to bring your curiosity to enjoy this entertaining and educational venue.
For those that enjoy learning about the early railway, the Railway Museum is sure to please. It can be found right next door to the Natural Science site.

On a 47-acre property a short drive away, the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum can be found. This venue offers live demonstrations and hands-on experiences of life on a ranch. There are historical displays and much more. This is an all-day event that is both entertaining and educational that will appeal to all ages.
The Old Village of Mesilla is a wonderful place to visit. Highlighted by the historic San Albino Church, the interesting shops, and canteens, one is drawn back to the old west life. There are excellent photo opportunities of the Mexican architecture found throughout the village.
There are also many day trips that can be done from Las Cruces. About 20 miles east is the famous White Sands Missile Range. This facility sits on 3,200 square miles and is open for visitors. Here you can view military equipment and sample ordnance. You can see the range set-up and sheer size. Photos are permitted with the exclusion of downrange. When I was last there, and possibly still so, you were restricted from aiming a camera downrange and asked only to photograph back toward the ordnance launch area.
Hikers will delight in the many trails that wind through the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument, which loom in the east. Intrepid hikers should hoof it up to the starkly beautiful Needles at 9,000 feet above sea level.

Rich in Surprises and Secrets, There’s a State Park Waiting for You
On a cold and damp Iowa evening last October, I sat in a tent and thought about Abraham Lincoln. More precisely, I thought about Lincoln signing a minor piece of legislation deeding the Yosemite Valley to the state of California. It happened in 1864, while the Civil War raged.
It is important because of just a few words. California was given ownership of Yosemite on the condition that the land “be held for public use, resort, and recreation.” This was the official approval of a remarkable and radical idea: Everyone should have access to nature. It led to our ecosystem of national and state parks, wilderness areas and nature preserves — all generally committed to providing this access.
And it came at a time when President Lincoln presumably had a lot on his mind. Did he realize his signature would transform America’s relationship with nature?
That October night, I was camping in Iowa’s Waubonsie State Park, just one park among the many thousands now scattered across the United States. It was near the tail end of a yearlong mission to visit as many state parks as possible. (Final tally: 53.) This article, the second on state parks, focuses on those I visited in the western part of the country.
Waubonsie is a small state park in the southwestern corner of Iowa, near Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. I didn’t know anything about it, except for reviews saying it was a good place for a picnic. I figured it’d be a few lonely trees surrounded by corn. What I found truly astounded me, and emphasized what I love most about state parks: You never know what you are going to find.
In this 1,990-acre state park, I found an ancient forest on a plateau, an island of mysterious trees in the middle of a vast agricultural region. A secret in plain sight. Waubonsie, as it turns out, is the result of glaciers melting and rushing down the nearby Missouri River. Silt from these glaciers has piled up in mounds large enough to become their own landforms, here called the Loess Hills. There are only two places in the world where this topography exists: the region where I was camping, and the Yellow River valley in China.
Driving into Waubonsie was like entering a hidden kingdom. Tall oak trees, their leaves gold and green in the fading sun, lined the main road. Trails circled along steep gorges thick with birds flitting in a temperate jungle environment. Mist curled along the tree line, and in the eerie stillness I felt the presence of something ancient. In a mad rush to investigate further, I bolted down a dinner of potato chips and cold coffee, pitched my tent, and spent the next two hours hiking through this fantasy of forested badlands. Every so often I came across hiking shelters built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps that looked like giant mushrooms.
Back in the tent, I found a shivering mosquito that hitched a ride from my previous night’s stop in Bentsen Rio Grande State Park in South Texas. Rain pattered against the thin blue fabric of the tent, steady and soothing like a heartbeat. I sat there, truly content, grateful for places like Waubonsie, where I could bound through secret forests and pay only $6 for the privilege of a night’s rest within its boundaries.
When I left the next morning, I drove down a state road and within minutes, I was back in the fields. I had to stop the car and look back at the forested gorges above me, just to make sure it wasn’t all a weird dream.
The fan base grows
Not all state parks came out of nowhere like Waubonsie, but they are all rich with surprises, secrets and authenticity. Generally, they were off the beaten track, which made them all the more interesting. This was certainly the case in the first half of 2018, when I visited Eastern state parks.
Another part of their intrigue is that state parks come in all shapes and sizes. They don’t have that much in common, which makes a visit unpredictable. However, according to Linda Lanterman, president of the National Association of State Park Directors and director of Kansas State Parks, one common feature is their presence near our homes. “Not everyone is fortunate to go to a national park,” she said. “Not everyone can take a week off. That’s what makes the state park system so unique. It’s close to home and close to nature.” Ms. Lanterman said state parks generally are popular, and the number of visitors is rising. In 2002, total attendance at state parks was 758 million people. By 2017, that number had risen to 807 million.
In the second half of the year, as I headed west, I was curious about the state parks near our best-known national parks. If you’re fortunate enough to live next to a national park, do you still go to a state park? Two of my test cases, Bannack State Park in Montana and Harriman State Park in Idaho, are within 100 miles as the crow flies from Yellowstone National Park. As it turns out, both are well loved and popular, but in their own way.
Due west of Yellowstone, Bannack is one part idyllic campground alongside a river, two parts ghost town. It thrived in the 19th century as the site of a gold rush as well as Montana’s first territorial capital, but when the 20th century came around, it fell into a long, slow decline. Today, “Bannack is the best preserved of all Montana ghost towns,” according to the Montana State Parks website.
When my friend Chris and I arrived this past September, Bannack was a very busy ghost town. State park rangers conferred with arriving pickup trucks and pointed out places to set up. They were preparing for a four-day living history event, during which historical re-enactors would occupy the abandoned, one-street town and pretend it was 1862. Schoolchildren from the area were bused in and the town was filled with tourists watching re-enactors performing at the blacksmith camp, saloon, boardinghouse, butcher shop, school and church.
Bannack’s buildings are maintained in a state of “arrested decay,” meaning they are prevented from deteriorating further, but are not improved in any way. It provided an unusual, still-life view of the town. Grass covered a low-slung rectangular jail. Insulation was cardboard packing boxes, a testament to the area’s cold isolation. The entire short history of Bannack lay in front of us, from the raw log cabins on the outskirts of town to the cracked linoleum floors of the last occupied houses. Bannack’s last inhabitant left in the 1970s.
Just outside town lies the campground, where we spent the night. It occupies a small area alongside a creek, nothing more than a few curlicues of fire rings and grass protected by towering cottonwood trees. We gathered next to the fire as evening drew to a close, listening to the wind through the trees, the gurgle of the creek, and our campground neighbors reading books to each other.
The Bannack campground was like so many I had been to during my year of visiting state parks. There was the crackle of wood in the fire, distant voices in the background, the sounds of nature and a palpable absence of stress. Chris and I huddled next to the flames and talked about everything and anything, what will never be, what just was. The creek rushed past, the stars shone, and I felt whole.
A night in a yurt
The next day we drove to Harriman State Park in Idaho. Before it was given to the state, it was a working cattle ranch and retreat owned by the Harriman and Guggenheim families. The centerpiece is a series of ranch buildings alongside Henrys Fork, a tributary of the Snake River. When we visited, it echoed with the cheers and yells of a high school cross-country meet. During the winter, trails are groomed for skate and classic cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fat bikes.
I hiked through a sprawling meadow that spanned both sides of the river. Birds darted through the tall grass and the sounds of the cross-country meet slowly fell away until all I heard was the wind and the water. I was excited to spot sandhill cranes, but later Chris’s telephoto lens revealed they were actually pelicans. Oh, well. We still had a comfortable night’s rest in one of Harriman’s yurts. According to parents at the cross-country meet, the yurts are a favorite spot for local residents to spend the weekend.
Over the year, many people happily described to me their relationships with local state parks, whether it was a winter weekend in a Harriman yurt or Chicago friends reminiscing about their first time camping in Midwest state parks. These places are often beloved by nearby communities. This was the case even in a city surrounded by internationally renowned wilderness: Alaska’s capital, Juneau.
With Glacier Bay National Park and the Tongass National Forest as neighbors, Juneau is a favored destination for cruise ships and adventure tourists alike. But it is also a city of 32,000 people, and nearby state parks cater to them. Among the most prominent is Point Bridget State Park, an expanse of 2,850 acres about 40 miles from Juneau, near the terminus of the city’s road system. According to the Alaska State Parks website, Point Bridget was founded in 1988, the result of a push by the citizens of Juneau “to have a state park for the state capitol.”
The park is a mix of temperate rain forest and meadow along a stretch of Lynn Canal coastline, the deepest fjord in North America. After parking near the entrance early one morning, Chris and I hiked through muskeg and then into a field of fireweed rising to an immense vista: miles of coastline, a fierce wind, and mountains ringing the horizon.
We passed by affable hikers who spoke of “brownie” sightings; a weirdly cute way of referring to grizzly bears. Soon we were at our destination, a basic cabin called Blue Mussel within a stone’s throw of the seashore. It was well loved, judging by the painted signs, rocks and seashells in the vicinity. Even in mid-September, well into autumn this far north, reservations had been difficult to get.
The cabin was small and simple: sleeping loft, a table and benches, big windows and a bunch of leftover spices. Down at the shoreline, I clambered over mussel-encrusted rocks, dodged the lapping of tidewater and followed the arc of bald eagles overhead. It was so peaceful and wonderful that even my inner thoughts quieted down. When I turned to face Blue Mussel, darkness was falling and the cabin’s bright lantern in the window shone ever brighter, like a benevolent gaze.
The next day we visited another Juneau-area state park, a string of islands in Lynn Canal called the Channel Islands State Marine Park. These 14 mostly uninhabited islands are about 25 miles northwest of Juneau and can be reached by floatplane or boat. They get a lot of Juneau area picnickers in the summertime, especially since they can be reached with small watercraft. We motored over to Aaron Island, a small thumbtack of wilderness surrounded by water. There was a nice sand beach, a campfire ring, thick forest and a rope dangling from a Sitka spruce. Immediately I became 8 years old and ran over. I challenge you to find anything more wonderful than an unexpected rope swing.
In Hawaii, a relaxed vibe
Even farther west, in Hawaii, I didn’t find any rope swings. Still, it’s no slouch when it comes to recreation. Hawaii state parks drew a mix of people, but judging from the many conversations about being off from work, visitors were mainly local. The beach at Kekaha Kai was perfect and the banyan tree at Wailuku River could have been the setting of a Guillermo del Toro movie, but Mahukona State Park was my favorite.
It was rough around the edges; posted signs warned against abandoning animals and there was a fair amount of broken concrete. But the relaxed, Friday evening vibe was amazing. People sat on old lawn chairs along the break wall and shared food from their grills. The backdrop was untamed vegetation, a rusted dock and railroad tracks. A faucet jutting out of a wall served as the communal shower.
Plus, the snorkeling was the best of my time in Hawaii. I swam into a small but deep bay, dove underwater and glided through hundreds of yellow triggerfish. They scattered like windblown leaves in the peak of fall color. In the distance I saw shadows of larger fish, but didn’t dare seek them out. Afterward, I spoke with the regulars who sat in their lawn chairs and gripped beer in foam cozies. They talked about watching whales just offshore in the winter.
In December, the winter of my state park year, I cheated and visited Yosemite National Park. I had been thinking about it for a long time, and my rationale was simple: it’s originally a state park. In fact, after Lincoln deeded Yosemite to California, it was America’s first state park, until California messed everything up and it was transferred back to federal control, becoming a national park in 1890.
Of course, Yosemite was amazing. I pitched my tent in Camp 4, the traditional hub of climbing in the park and one of only a few campgrounds listed on the National Register of Historic Places. I hiked for miles through the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoias. Like the hordes of tourists before me, I took pictures of the massive trees and wondered why I couldn’t ever capture their grandeur.
I was thrilled to visit Yosemite, but it’s not like it was a surprise. After all, it’s the default picture on my laptop. But I am grateful for its ability to move people to do great things. The tag team of Yosemite and Abraham Lincoln led to pockets of wilderness springing up everywhere across the United States; places where we jump into hidden coves, discover primeval forests in the middle of cornfields, and come upon a rope swing on a deserted island. I will never visit all 8,565 state parks, but that’s O.K. Each one I visit will be a gift.

What to Bring to Your Free Initial Consultation
There’s a lot to do after a serious injury or wrongful death in the family. Besides the administrative tasks, you may also have to take time off work, arrange child care, and find another way to pay your bills virtually overnight. In the face of so much adversity, it’s only natural to feel overwhelmed.
One of the easiest ways to quell any stress and anxiety you feel about your case is to speak with an attorney. During your free initial consultation at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, we will answer your questions and help you understand the laws related to your claim. We will also explain what our Rio Vista personal injury lawyers might be able to do to strengthen your case.
You can make sure our investigation gets off to a strong start by bringing any evidence you have gathered; however, you should not delay your consultation just to compile evidence. Time is of the essence, and the sooner you contact our law firm, the sooner we can start protecting your rights.
If available, try to bring the following evidence to your initial consultation:
Photos of Injuries and Property Damage: Photos of injuries, property damage, and the accident scene can serve as valuable evidence of liability and damages. Even if you are certain about what caused your injuries, you will need evidence to prove your version of events. Photographs may help your Rio Vista personal injury attorney prove liability if a dispute arises, and they can help tie your injuries to the accident.
The Police Report: If police attended the scene and you have the police report, be sure to bring it to your consultation. This report should have pertinent information about your accident such as its time, date, location, whether there were injuries or property damage, and what may have caused it. If you do not have a copy of the police report, don’t worry; your attorney can obtain it on your behalf.
Eyewitness Information: Did you talk to witnesses at the scene? If you wrote down their contact information and statements, be sure to bring them to your case evaluation. Witness statements often play a crucial role in proving liability.
Bills, Invoices, and Estimates: You won’t be able to recover compensation for any expenses that you cannot prove. Bring along any bills, invoices, and estimates you have that relate to medical treatment, property repairs, and other costs that were either directly or indirectly caused by your injuries.
Pay stubs and Income Tax Returns: If your injury has put you out of work, you will need documentation to prove lost wages. Your Rio Vista personal injury attorney can use pay stubs and income tax returns to calculate loss of income.
We Can Collect Evidence You Might Have Overlooked
It is not uncommon for important evidence to be withheld from a personal injury claimant. For example, if you slipped and fell in a supermarket, the store owner might be reluctant to hand over the surveillance footage.
Our attorneys can try to obtain such evidence by filing subpoenas. If necessary, we can also bring in medical, financial, and accident reconstruction experts to provide testimony.
We Are Experienced Negotiators and Seasoned Litigators
Although most personal injury cases don’t end up in trial, it’s still important that you hire an attorney who has achieved success in the courtroom. The seasoned trial lawyers at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers have many decades of litigation experience. We will do everything in our power to help you collect a fair settlement without going to court, but we are not afraid to go to trial if necessary.
Our Rio Vista Personal Injury Law Firm Offers Free Consultations
If you want to protect your rights after a personal injury or wrongful death in the family, turn to Harris Personal Injury Lawyers. You can count on our knowledgeable, experienced, and resourceful team to provide superb representation. Call 1-800-GO-HARRIS or use our contact form to set up a free consultation.

Motorized and nonmotorized boating is permitted on the lake, as are personal watercraft, canoes and kayaks. Fish from a boat on the lake or the pier, and take advantage of a knowledgeable guide to help you find the best spots for catching walleye, crappie, white and black bass, and stripers.
There are many attractions to be seen in and around the town. Geronimo Springs Museum is well worth the visit. It covers a broad time span from prehistoric to the current era.
Looking toward the future is Spaceport America, the first such facility in the country.Resembling an architecturally modern aircraft hanger, it is a vertical-craft takeoff base supporting the likes of Virgin Galactic in its reach to future galaxy travel. Tours of this site may be limited.
