✨Rest of the year wrap-up✨

Ok so, I haven’t been reading much these months bc I started my masters, so I guess I will put everything here (everything is two books). As always, spoiler warning just in case.

1. Yellowface 5/5.

First of all, I think I will eat up anything RF Kuang writes. Second of all, I love books where I can insult characters for good reasons. Most times, when I hate a certain character, it ruins the story bc I know the writers were not intending for readers to hate those characters, but this one. This book was made for the sadistic in me. The twists were twisting, the hate was hating. I even learned shit about the editorial world (which is actually kind of funny bc Babel made me sure I wanted to study translation, and this one made me sure of my masters choice). The author is an icon, she is a legend, and she is the moment.

2. My roomate is a vampire - 2.5/5

I picked up this book as a buddy read with some friends bc it was cheap (first and foremost, I am honest). It started out great, the vampire guy is amazing, I love characters like him. The protagonist is also great, finally an adult with adult problems, yk. But it fell flat after the smut (yes, sorry to spoil, there is smut). It actually made me kind of uncomfortable, but maybe it was bc I wasn’t in the mood. The interactions between the characters were good, I liked them, but after that ONE forsaken chapter everything changed for me, it felt like the author was already done with the book and she just wanted to be done with it. Not a good feeling. Then I discovered it was a fanfic, and it lost a few points bc everything made sense.

So that’s all for now folks, I have 2 more books I want to read before the year ends, let’s see if I can do it. I tried to read This is how you lose the time war, I can’t get over chapter 9. I’m currently reading The Invisible Life of Addie Larue and it’s going great, and I want to try to read The Secret History bc Freddie Carter told me to. I hope I have time.
