Ashe spends the whole bus ride to school on her phone, chatting on Social Bunny with some of her classmates. Her best friend, Elsie, hasn’t aged up yet, so she’ll join Ashe at school in a few days time. Ashe hopes she can make some friends that she can introduce her best friend to, making her transition to highschool even smoother than her own. 

Random Student: “Hey, you!”

Ashe: “Huh? Me?”

Ashe steps off the bus and walks straight into an argument between two sims that she’s not met yet. A badly glitched out townie jabs her finger into one student’s chest, then yells loudly at another. She’s complaining about their outfits - how they rolled a more cohesive look than she did. 

Taking a deep breath, Ashe steps in. She draws upon her part-alien abilities to project calm into the air around her. The tension lightens as Ashe places a hand on the badly glitched out sim’s shoulder. 

Ashe: “Hey, friend, there’s no need to be jealous. The Sim God loves giving makeovers to townies. I’m sure yours is coming soon.”

Slowly, the fight fizzles out. The poor sim who was getting yelled at introduces herself as Tova. It’s her first day too. She doesn’t know why she was targeted by that other sim. 

It turns out that Ashe and Tova have their first class together. They get to know each other as they agree to sit next to one another in class. It looks like Ashe has already made one new friend!

I've noticed with reed900, either Nines is some kind of karmic punishment due to Gavin's treatment of Connor/androids and so he exists to make Gavin's life a living hell or Nines is calm and polite to Gavin and will only retaliate if Gavin starts it first.

As the afternoon rolls on, most of the wedding guests squeeze inside. The skies finally open up, sending a downpour upon Henford-on-Bagley. 

It’s been a long day and Ivy’s exhausted. Her feet hurt from her awkward heels. Her happiness makes her feel like she’s floating on air - finally married to her beloved soulmates. It’s a shame that her body doesn’t physically feel the effects of being on cloud nine!

Her sister-in-law, Una, catches her arm. Ivy can’t remember who she’s spoken to over the course of the afternoon. It’s been a blur of eating, drinking and talking to every sim at the wedding. 

Una: “Ivy, I just wanted to apologise for not inviting you to my wedding with Glitchy. I wish we’d had a bigger ceremony, but…”

Ivy: “Not an issue, Una. You and Glitch are so important to Reed, so there’s no way she’d have missed your special day. We’re pretty free spirits, so feel free to use our reception to celebrate your nuptials too!”

Una’s expression brightens and softens all at once. It’s like she looks at Ivy with a newfound respect. They don’t know each other very well, but they exchange numbers so they can arrange a co-op working day sometime!

All that Reed wants to do is burst into tears of joy!

How did she get so lucky to have two amazing sims by her side? Not only are Kana and Ivy her soulmates, but they’re her fated mates, her bandmates, her best friends and mothers to her children. 

Reed: “I…I…oh plumbobs. I…”

Taking a deep breath, Reed pulls back slightly from her partners so she can look at them directly. She doesn’t look at their wedding guests, knowing that she will lose her nerve if she feels all of the eyes on her. The words written from deep in her heart are for Ivy and Kana only.

Reed: “I…I think everyone knows that since I was young, I’ve always been a romantic at heart. I’ve witnessed some of the greatest love stories in our family. Music became my outlet for my wanderlust, which wanted to follow every tug on my heartstrings. I’m glad I slowed myself down, letting myself journey through loneliness and heartbreak until I found you both. Kana and Ivy, you are the inspiration behind every note from my fingertips. Our children, Ashe, Thorne and Hex, form every word that I sing. Thank you for being my forever. I love you both so much!”

Before anyone can burst into happy tears, Kana catches Reed’s eye. The cheeky smile on her face draws the biggest grin from Reed. They look up and across to Glitch who stands up from the back of the small wedding space.

Glitch: “You are now wives! Get smoochin’!”

As one, Reed and Kana lean in and kiss Ivy on the cheeks. She closes her eyes, instantly blushing a dark green. When her wives pull away, they burst into a huge fit of giggles!

Before and after school, Hex spends her days holed up in her bedroom.

She’s made up with her mothers after their blazing row, but as it gets closer to her mothers going on tour with their band, the Fated Mates, Hex hides away from them. Her bedroom is her safe space. As soon as she steps outside, her whole world could turn upside down. She could be left at home without her mothers whilst they tour the world, or she could be dragged along with them. Neither option will help her anxiety. 

UnderTheWeather: “Hex, you’ve lost another round. Talk to me.”

Hexagon: “Sorry, Ley. My mums leave in a few days and I still don’t know if they’re pulling us out of school and homeschooling us on the road. I have exams tomorrow. I can’t concentrate, but I can procrastinate and play games with you.”

UnderTheWeather: “No way, Tricky. You need to study. I’ll log off if you don’t do your homework.”

Hexagon: “Since when do you care about good grades?” UnderTheWeather: “Since I care about you possibly being dragged out of school. I’m logging off. Study!” Hex frowns as Weatherly logs off, forfeiting their current game. She leans back in her chair, confused. Her best friend is as rebellious as she is. Why does he care about school? Or, is it because he cares about her? Pushing back her chair, Hex plans to flop on her bed and take a nap. Instead, she’s scared out of her wits when her phone starts ringing loudly. She answers the call and grumbles when Weatherly speaks, predicting that she was sneaking away from her studies. She sinks back into her chair, leaving her phone on loud speaker so she can have some company whilst she revises for her exams.

(Ugh this sucks, the first sim in this legacy to die of something other than old age.

Lydia passed away from death by rabbit of all things!

I don’t know why I didn’t think about them being such a danger! Esme had befriended all of the rabbits in her garden - but leaving some of the family to the risk of neighbourhood stories takes our first life at a young age!

You can probably tell that MCC dropped this bomb on me when I was planning Reed, Kana and Cara’s wedding. I missed the notification that Lydia passed away and had to dig into the family tree to find her fate. 

Well - goodbye to Lydia (Strauss) Quick - vampire turned human who seized every opportunity to live her life and make her own decisions!)

All the feels float around the Quick home as the family return to the home where they grew up.

Zeta feels the wave of nostalgia hit her hard like a tsunami as she steps foot into her old home. She raised five amazing children here with her wife, Esme. The house remains untouched since she and Esme moved out to tend to the larger family farm in Windenburg. Her kids’ paintings still hang around the front door. Even one of her wedding photos remains on the wall above a faux fireplace. 

It’s overwhelming to look back on all of the wonderful memories made in this home. Esme’s brother, Dilan, moved in to the farm years ago - a house swap of sorts. Since then, his daughters have grown up and he’s lost his wife, Lydia. Dilan now has a new partner, Genevieve, and has a child with her - named Ella. There have been some huge changes for the family, even if the home looks the same.

Zeta stops short in the living room as she regards her daughter, Jazz, chatting to her brother-in-law, Verge. She can remember the day when her daughter’s feet wouldn’t touch the floor, and now she’s a fully grown sim!

Knowing that her unusual bout of strong emotions likely comes from Esme, her wife, and her empathic abilities, Zeta takes a deep breath to centre herself. She joins the rest of her family to chat and catch up before the ceremony begins.

The next morning, a very sleepy Ashe trudges downstairs. 

She’s so glad it’s a Sunday. Her mums’ wedding has really taken it out of her. Something got mixed up yesterday and she had to step in to become the wedding photographer. Her mums aren’t awake yet, and she doesn’t want to disturb them. She doesn’t know if the wedding photographer was hired only for some official shots by her mums’ record label, or whether there was a miscommunication. 

Ashe has a lot of photos to look at and edit today. She’s not a pro by any means, but she’s the child of creative parents with max photography skill - she’ll do fine! Her mind is filled with her S4S work, so she doesn’t notice the horrid smell lingering in the air until she walks into the bathroom. 

Ashe: “Ewww! What is that smell?”

The further Ashe steps into the bathroom, the worse the smell gets! It’s coming from the toilet. Is it broken? She carefully lifts the lid, but the smell is so bad that she quickly drops it again without looking inside. Does she want to know what’s inside? With a shudder, Ashe flushes the toilet instead.

Suddenly, the toilet explodes! The lid flies open, sending a gush of water shooting into the air! A green smoke fills the air, with a smell so putrid that Ashe’s eyes water. She throws her hand over her mouth and nose to mask the smell, then runs out of the bathroom screaming for her mothers!

Ashe: “You did it, Hexy! I knew you could do it!”

Hex ducks her head as her cheeks darken to a deeper shade of blue at her sister’s encouragement. Ice skating was fun! Hex is a naturally nervous sim, so trying something new was daunting! She’s glad that she had such support from her siblings and their mums. She thought they’d tease her for her uncertainty, but they’ve encouraged her each foot forward on the ice.

Thorne: “You’re not as good as me, but you’ll be a pro in no time!”

Hex frowns, but just about keeps her cool when she sees the playful smirk on her brother’s face. He’s teasing her. This is friendly competition. He’s not calling her out for being worried about making a fool of herself on the ice rink!

Hex: “You’re not a good sport, Thorny. Where are our Mums? Have we missed -“

Ashe: “They’re by the fountain! Quick! We can’t miss it!”

Thorne grabs his sisters’ hands, tugging them towards their parents. This is a huge surprise - they can’t miss this!

The cold, dark winter evening quickly sets in as the Quick cousins work on their homework, skills and relationships.

Hex slowly warms up to her relatives around her, actively participating in their games and conversations. She seems to have made a great impression on her cousins and siblings since rescuing her cousin, Dorian, from a random cat attack. She’s earned cool points with her family, finally getting attention from them!

Hex: “The Life and Works of Eliza Pancakes? Why’d I get stuck with the boring book report for our Simlish class?”

Ashe looks up from her maths homework, her lips twisting into an amused smile. She couldn’t think of a more unlikely book for Hex to read. Eliza Pancakes (according to legend) was a hyper-organised, busy bee kind sim. That’s not Hex at all. She’s…dark, kinda broody…

Ashe: “Maybe your teacher wants to expand your reading selection.”

Hex groans, rolling her eyes so hard that she almost falls out of her chair. Ashe bursts into a massive fit of giggles, at least drawing a rare smile out of her little sister.

Reed: “Hex, I understand. I know that your paranoid trait makes our absence harder than Thorne and Ashe. We realise our mistakes and we know how much being alone has impacted you. We own up to that and want to do what we can to make amends.”

Kana: “And what your mum said was right, Hex. You’re a young adult now. You’re responsible for your attitude and your actions. You can’t get away with this childish behaviour forever.”

Oh plumbobs. Ivy glares across the table at her wife, wordlessly warning her about keeping her cool. If they don’t get a grip now, hurtful words will fill the air. They won’t be able to take anything back. Further down the table, Hex digs her hands into her hair, frustrated and upset.

Hex: “So this is all my fault? You’re blaming our abandonment on me?”

Thorne: “Sounds like it, yeah. Your concerns were warranted, but you could have just talked to us. You didn’t need to act out. You didn’t need to almost get expelled. Your mistakes are your own. You can’t blame us for your bad behaviour!”

Ivy and Ashe: “That’s enough!”

Silence falls across the table. Hex openly breaks down in tears, struggling to hear and accept the parts of the fragmented family as being her fault. Ashe and Ivy dart their gaze between the angry family members. Reed also loses it, burying her face in her hands to hide her tears.

Hex: “I can’t wait to move out. You’ll regret what you’ve said to me!”

Hex throws back her chair hard enough to topple it backwards onto the lawn. She storms away, screaming and sobbing in frustration. The rest of the family sit quietly, letting the waves of pain flow over them.
