Hi there, was hoping I could ask your advice if it’s okay! How might someone relatively new to the Castlevania fandom on Tumblr get to know the community better? 👋 I know everyone is super hyped for Nocturne, so I figured now was a good time to try to become more active in the fandom!

Hello dear, you're absolutely on point! 🕸️The Fandom🦇 is slowly awakening now that the Nocturne sequel is hitting the bend, so this is the perfect time to dive in, I'd say.

Now, I tend to be a fandom hermit personally on here for Reasons, but this isn't about me. Here's some resources!

Intro

Hi, I’m factorialrabbits, and that’s also my main account. I sometimes write, I sometimes doodle, of late I’m been watching 4 livestreams at once to deal with chronic understimulation. This is a side account mostly because I’ve been liking too much minecraft stuff and need somewhere to put it.

I do not promise it’ll remain only minecraft, or remain active long, but here we are.

I do note that I am in my late 20s, and this is given so you can act appropriately for your comfort levels. he/him.

As for what I watch... My favourite stuff is philza’s hardcore streams, but mostly what I watch is running his and fitmc’s qsmp streams side by side. I only speak English of the qsmp languages, and don’t speak anything else /well/, and those two stream at best times for me. As of recently tazercraft are also on my faves list (I’d thought they were fun on other people’s streams but prison break this Friday sold me). I also watch a little hermitcraft here and there when I catch it (catching up on the season is a lot, but videos are slow enough I know /current/ events), then random youtube videos.

As I only started like June 23 I don’t have the deep lore or the culture of this fandom down, so I’ll probably leave it mostly here.

If things seem to be in a random order and out of timeline, that’s because I mostly add things to queue and then randomly hit ‘shuffle queue’ when bored. So it can take between seconds and days for me to actually reblog something.

So, to new users, you probably have seen posts about how there’s no algorithm, how you should have a header and pfp other than the default ones, how you should reblog everything, how blocking is not a moral thing but a convenience one, etc. But let’s talk vibes.

- There is a culture in Tumblr. We are a civilization. We are nice but the ecosystem isn’t, it’s ruthless and unforgiving. You shall adapt or you shall perish.

- There are important holidays. Some are more important than others. Out of touch thursday is commonly accepted, and Sad-ant-with-a-bindle-monday is a nice one to participate in. Do not speak ill of the 5th of November, which is the international day.

- You are not obliged to have watched the series or read the books everyone else has. But it would give you a headstart to know what Destiel, Superwholock and Dracula Daily mean. More specialized slang, like Horse Plinko, Blorbo, Eeby Deeby or Jonmina, will come later.

- We don’t have the same kind of personnalities as Twitter has: our pantheon is composed of President Smellborp, Glup Shitto and my cousin Throckmorton, to only talk about the most notorious.

- Traditions such as the Sexyman Bracket, the Colour Theory comments, etc, might seem outdated or outright weird to the common newcomer. You are completely free to ignore them, and completely free to find them stupid. Be warned however that if you smear them, you will be stoned to death.

- If you want the question and the answer to be public, you can ask people things through the askbox. If you want it to be private, direct-message them.

- As for the header and pfp problem, you should know that there is a neversleeping plague in here: they call themselves sugar daddy or sugar baby, lonely girl or even mature teen, but we call them PornBots. We recognize them at a default header and profile picture, and their blogs are full of porn. However, they started evolving and sometimes have not only a credible username, but also a profile picture. You WILL be blocked on sight if you have never reblogged anything and/or if you have the default header and pfp. When we fight a war, we don’t care what brought you to wear the ennemy’s uniform, we care only to make you bleed.

- The Shibboleth if you think someone you know is on Tumblr is “I like your shoelaces”. The addressed shall, if they are from tumblr, answer with “Thanks! I stole them from the president”. Few are still living who remember the meaning or the origin of those words.

- If there’s a flashing gif, tag it as “tw flashing” or “flashing”. Do NOT tag as “epilepsy”, or epileptic people in quest of informations will open the tag and die promptly after being exposed to twenty flashing gifs all at once. This is not a joke.

- You can block tags and post contents in your settings. Be warned that the post contents will also filter the usernames: so if you filter “fire” because you don’t like fire or because it generally comes with flashing gifs, know that it will block anyone with a username saying firelord, firefighter, brighter-than-fire and such.

- Anon hate is for cowards and for fools. Who would come, however well masked, to a king’s very throne room, in order to insult them? When the king is accompagnied by his most trusted advisors and most devouted subjects? It’s also not a nice thing. You can be blocked even if you’re on anon btw.

- There are posses and groups, factions if you like. Some are politicals, some are religious, some go by hobbies... You can go wherever you like but be sure to be armed before you ever go near an unfamiliar Fandom. Those are dreaded even by the most valiant heroes.

- The current climate is midly xenophobic. No one cares where you come from, mind you, in real life. But if you’re coming here from Twitter, hide the signs. Pick up the lingua, talk about reblogs not retweets, try to put “rebagel” at some point and talk about SPN and how dreadful the Superwholock fandom are just as if you belonged. Lie low. You’ll be able to joke about that later with your mutuals. For the moment, you might want to be safe rather than sorry.

- This is a lawless land. You make justice by yourself, by blocking people or by reporting them. I’d recommand only to report people actively encouraging crime and the Ennemy (the pornbots), but you do you, and you know better than me when it’s time to unsheathe your weapon.

- For the love of all that is holy, tag your posts. If you don’t, they will find you.

- On that note, try to tag the trigger warnings/content warnings with tw or cw tags which already exist. Because blocking the tag “tw incest” doesn’t block the tag “tw: incest”. And if you ever try your hand at censoring your tags (ex: “tw e4t1ng d1s0rd3rs” or “tw r*ape”)... not only will you harm people, you will probably be harmed in return. DO NOT CENSOR YOUR TAGS, and except if relevant (if you really want people who censor those words to still read this post) do not censor the words in the post itself.

- Rogue knights who fought under the banner of the Blue Bird prior to its castle’s conquest by the Elongated-Muskrat-blason man, are not seen with a kind eye right now. But boy oh boy, if you betray that you’re from Tiktok, for example with the use of words such as “unalive”, you will wish that someone would use such kind words to describe what will be left of you. Don’t censor yourselves. For the above-mentionned problem, and because using words such as fuck, kill, murder, arson, disembowelment, have no algorithm charged with tracking it. You won’t be censored by the ecosystem: don’t censor yourself.

- The Tumbeasts are the official emblem of the Hellsite. You can use this nicholasname in a derogatory, affectionate or flirtatious manner. Don’t try to hunt the Tumbeasts to extinction. Much like the hydras, you will only find yourself with more ennemies than you could count before starting your quest.

- No one cares for the name, address or age of the mysterious guy who stepped in the saloon. It will actually be sus of them to wear a badge with their real name, age or city, on their chest. Sus people will be taken advantage of or blocked. There’s a third, secret thing, but you’re not old enough to know about it - old in tumblr days of course, not in real-life days.

- The Tumbeasts eat electronical circuits. However if you disturb their sleep they will bite, and they will add to their diet any living moving thing, from blue birds to tiktokers. Ye be warned.

- Don’t try to change us. Others tried before and are no longer around to flaunt their unfortunate attempts. Assimilate. If change has to happen, it will happen organically.

TL;DR: Don’t censor your tags nor yourself, both because it’s useless and because it will actively harm people blocking the full words, and put a pfp and a header. Block liberally. Stay clear of the Fandoms if you’re not ready, there’s no shame in it.

upon a less hyped rewatch... porsche was definitely vibe checking tf out of vegas and the little pick me didn't pass. he's so different to vegas now vs when they were riding the bike together. /porsche was also wrapping kinn around his finger once he realized pete was sending intel back to their boss on any and all interactions porsche had with vegas.

now i could totally be putting too much thought into this but i think the drinking was an act. the entire episode we got porsche hesitating with drinks and i definitely think he's wiser now about accepting drinks. but after vegas made it known he knew things about porsche he had no right to know, porsche shifted, changed, to me. he wanted to sus vegas out and he needed to play a part and so he "drank". (arm and pete being plied with booze and then suddenly sober when porsche disappears with vegas also caught my eye.)

porsche goes with vegas. he stumbles, barely able to walk. he slurs his words. he wants vegas to talk, because he knows vegas was never far from him, always watching him. he knew vegas liked talking to him. his face when vegas was taking off his shirt, the look vegas didn't see, was sober. calculating. and then vegas kisses him and suddenly he's not drunk anymore, he's fucking shocked. that wasn't part of his dumb plan (or maybe it was in the back of mind, a test to see how vegas would go. kinn told him vegas was obsessed with things that kinn had.)

but do you know what was part of his plan? pete reporting back to kinn. he knew he was safe in this hostile environment because kinn would come for him the way he snuck out of the hospital to find him when he couldn't sleep. which is why he smiled when kinn showed up.

sure he absolutely miscalculated with vegas, hell he probably had no clue what he could get vegas to say but he wanted to help kinn, but he KNEW kinn would come for him.

and then kinn's fury also wasn't part of the plan and porsche definitely doesn't slur when he says he shouldn't have fallen for an asshole like kinn and he definitely doesn't stumble when he goes to leave.

he's trying so hard to fit into this dark underbelly he's found himself in. does he fuck up? yes. is he doing his best? yes.

Went to the City Museum this weekend and finally got to go up on the rooftop. They have a ferris wheel up there that goes faster than any ferris wheel I've ever been on in my life!

We also got lots of compliments on our knee pads. They were pretty pricey, but worth it

Jumping off of this post, there is a nationwide shortage on several drugs commonly used for these infections or to treat pneumonia or bacterial infections that can result from these diseases.

Every prescription we fill for liquid amoxicillin, generic Augmentin, and generic Tamiflu pops up an alert to check our stock because there is a nationwide shortage. I cannot order these medications because all of the manufacturers carried by my distributor are on backorder with no release dates.

Right now we are still able to call the prescriber and get the antibiotics switched to one we have (Tamiflu does not have an alternative you're just sol there) but if the shortage carries on long enough I would expect these alternatives will probably start having availability issues as well.

This year is expected to be very bad as far as influenza and, in my area anyway, RSV cases are also really bad. And Covid never went away, despite the general public's popular belief, so naturally we're likely to see an uptick in that as people get complacent.

So yes, do what you can to protect yourself and others. Get your flu and covid shots, wear your mask, and wash your hands.

a kindred love : works that describe an incestuous love to me (if you would like further explanation on this idea, please let me know! i really love discussing the intricacies of familial love)

auto / cannibalism : works where the imagery heavily suggests self/auto-cannibalism or cannibalism of another person. the ultimate illustration of self and other-love

incorp(s)erate : the idea that eating another person means you want to incorporate their being into yourself. this is the ultimate form of self-betterment through the consumption of the other. can also just be a work that reference a body/corpses/death

taste of me on you : the idea of eating another person (cannibalism or sexual--but they are one and the same to me) and then kissing them, thus tasting yourself on their tongue

autopsy : works where the imagery heavily suggests opening up another person. this may or may not lead to cannibalism. autopsy as as a way of knowing, investigating, questioning, etc

body as vessel : works where the imagery suggests that a person's body may hold something more significant like another person, an idea, or a metamorphosis

this love is expired : works where it is suggested that some love has an expiration date

humanity is nakedness : works with nude imagery literally, or the nakedness can be the vulnerability of telling someone the truth of their own desire (touch, sexuality, love, neediness, etc)

be human with me : works with the naked imagery that also asks another person to join the narrator or main character. asking another person to be equally vulnerable

monster lovers : works where the imagery suggests someone is monstrous/evil/unlovable but someone loves them, especially because of the monstrous/evil/unlovable qualities

self contamination : works where the imagery of monsters also suggests the monster lover would like to be contaminated by the monster. this can be done through cannibalism, idea of "incorp(s)eration," and autopsy

mothers who kill us club : mothers who kill us can also be classified as monsters. and if we continue to love them especially because of their monstrous qualities, we can also be classified as monster lovers. additionally, this can also mean that loving the mothers who kill us also means we are self contaminating!

Family

lessons my mother taught me : the full tag is "lessons my mother taught me about men and life," which is a mouthful, isn't it? anyway, this is any work that seems like something a mother would tell a story and the theme would be the moral of her story. y'know, stuff your mother would warn you about as your life begins to unravel and you have to learn how to be an adult on your own

inheritance of sorrow : any work that references inheritance or long lines of generational sadness or deep darkness. misogyny, yearning... basically anything that references a dark past that has been experienced by many others (blood related or not)

lessons vs regrets : works that hint at the difference between learning a lesson and living a regret. learning a lesson implies it was rocky to get through, but somehow the narrator managed to get out unscathed. a regret is implied when there is deep sorrow, yearning, desire left over after an event that seemingly has not resolution.

Religion

great flood : this can allude to a great many things. a work illustrating a build up of emotions, referencing a period, etc OR i can just have felt an immense emotion when reading a work

lamb before the slaughter : linked with the family tags, mostly. but usually it means that someone had to be sacrificed for the "good of all others." utilitarian morals. can also be an illustration of innocence/purity prior to death

a baptism between my legs : oral sex

becoming god : a work references personal power of some degree. whether that is through killing others, eating them, creating them. usually i use it in reference to long periods of solitude and self reflection though.

My #1 post of 2022

*grabby hands* Danny Jason QPR gimme

AHA I wasn’t gonna write a fic but I also keep thinking about this every day so maybe I will lol. Premise of the story is they both have poisoned ectoplasm (no way they both have poisoned ectoplasm).

Danny (17) escapes the GIW who had captured him and were experimenting on him. One of the experiments was injecting him with a poison that feeds off ectoplasm (unknowingly). Danny escapes and runs around for a bit before settling in Gotham because he figures that the Bats won’t stand for a random group like the GIW coming into Gotham and being their destructive and unsubtle selves. He encounters Jason a couple times and they can Sense Eachother, usual dpxdc stuff. Eventually Danny saves Jason in a fight cause this is Ghost King AU and Jason is kinda Danny’s subject, and Danny obsession (which is again standard ‘protection’ vibes) extends to him because of that, so when Jason is about to get hurt, Danny is compelled to save him. N e ways Danny and Jason start interacting and hanging out more and eventually it progresses into a QPR. The poison in Danny’s system keeps getting worse until he caves and lets the Bats treat him - something he held out against for a long time b/c of his paranoia and trauma around medical stuff thanks to the GIW. He gets better n returns to Amity but visits Gotham frequently to see his partner and new friends.

I have a lot of other stuff bouncing around in my head too lol, Danny has very complicated feelings about not wanting Jason to get hurt and not wanting to hurt him, especially related to his poisoning, which I go feral over (It’s a two way street Jason feels the same way). Also have a whole subplot with Constantine and Danny and them confiscating books or things that tell how to summon Danny so the GIW can’t get their hands on kt. Tucker comes in near the end. I have lots of thoughts about how stressed Danny would be not being able to get back to the Ghost Zone to manage his responsibilities as it’s ruler. Also lots of thoughts on both Jason and Danny’s backstories (DC stands for disregard canon). I have a lot of thoughts about it all and about Jason and Danny maybe I should just write a fic. If u want me to elaborate on anything just send an ask I can talk about this all day lol!

Oh also I have Jason as 19 and Danny turns 18 in the fic (which definitely isn’t hard for him or for his friends and family back home who he hasn’t been able to contact)

Hey anyone who cares!!! This blog turned 10 years [10 years] old today! (6/23/2021)

I've never changed the URL(if you've got an eye for detail you might've seen me rebagel from my side blog when I forget to switch back and forth on mobile) and I've only changed the icon once (I think? I've only had this one and one other for a long extended period of time)

Don't ask me what I've lived through. My memory is terrible, I don't remember. But it's been a wild fucking trip

For anyone who wants to know this, I promise that I am friendly, open to learning things, and very much going to mess up. If something I've done bothers you or you'd like an explanation, let me know. If it's a recent topic, I'm very much in a supportive role. *cough*white*cough* So I know my views are unconsciously biased, that is a fact, but chances are they are more biased than I realize, and I want to know what's actually going on. I promise I'm not asking you to do my research for me, just a message with whatever it is and "do your research" will be appreciated.

The same goes for tagging things, no trigger is too small (though, my memory is genuinely terrible, and I am sincerely sorry to the people who I have promised to tag things for and then repeatedly missed posts). I don't want anyone to feel like they have to write me an essay to justfy themselves, I won't ask any questions unless you want to talk.
