"The problem with having Sherlock Holmes brainworms versus, like, literally, uh, any other brainworms is that you eventually, like, run out of worms with other media, but Sherlock Holmes has been adapted since like the beginning of time- so... there are plenty of worms- too many."

In one of their films, I think it’s the one set in Quebec, they are chatting in their room and Watson quickly and casually says “I have a right to share your dangers.” I couldn’t stop thinking about that line and how it seemed to sum up their roles in each others lives. Anyway I couldn’t resist drawing them, a great pair and the best adaptations.
It's so funny how all the comments on the Rathbone Holmes films on YouTube are like "ah back in the day when films were still good and didn't have Gay Sex", as if Basil Rathbone wasn't arrested in the 1920s for playing in a gay play, not to mention the time during rehearsal for a Holmes film when he and Nigel Bruce suddenly started calling each other endearments and Bruce kissed him goodbye, just to fuck with Doyle's son who was there. Ummmmmm???
A series of 14 Sherlock Holmes films was released from 1939—1946. Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce portrayed Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. The first two films were produced by 20th Century-Fox and released in 1939. Universal Pictures acquired the rights from the Doyle estate and produced a further 12 films.
The films from Fox had large budgets, high production values and were set in the Victorian era. Universal updated the films' setting to the then-present time of World War II with Holmes fighting the Nazis and produced them as B pictures with lower budgets. All but the first three films were directed by Roy William Neill. [X]
HOLMES: No, but you did much more than that. It was your timely warning [plot spoiler] saved the life of my dear friend and colleague, Doctor John H. Watson.
WATSON: That's very nice of you, old man.
HOLMES: Thereby enabling us to continue our long and happy association together.

Decided to give the first episode of Sherlock & Co a chance while I cleaned the kitchen and really enjoyed it!!
The voice acting is really good and I really like the score!! Sounds like a modern twist on the old Granada or Rathbone scores ( could just be because I’m currently watching Rathbone movies lol)
The “You’re the second person to say that to me today” gets me In every universe! Go meet your soulmate Watson!
We’re already getting Domestic feels and snark gotta love it! Also they get a dog!!
Looking forward to the rest! Humm I have the ACD stories…. should I read up and then listen to the episode? Could be fun? Anyway very strong start I’m impressed!
It is my belief that one of the most important aspects of an actor playing Sherlock Holmes is the shape of the nose. Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett both obviously have magnificent noses, and they are each a fantastic Holmes; Benedict Cumberbatch has a decidedly un-Holmes-like nose, so I can't picture him as Holmes at all.
