At the first release of Tori Amos: Comic Book Tattoo, the Image Comics booth, San Diego Comic Con. I think this was 2008. And now, I've done the cover art for the new limited edition of Tori Amos: Little Earthquakes! I'm sorry, I can't recall who took this photo. But Derek McCulloch wrote me two very beautiful stories to draw for each edition, and editor Rantz Hoseley was also there to walk us all through the process. The new edition is from Z2 Comics.

Hello all,
Many of you know that I was a roadie for many years, touring with bands to include Mötley Crüe, Tool, Britney, Gaga, Soundgarden, Black Keys and more.
My second tour in 2002 was the brilliant Tori Amos. On that tour (over 20 years ago) I met Neil Gaiman, who was hanging out backstage w/ T. He had a galley of Endless Nights. I told him that when I worked at a comic book shop (Geppi’s Harborplace in Baltimore) in my college days, I sold countless copies of Sandman—
We became friends and when Neil would visit LA, I would drive him to business meetings etc. I got a first class education in how to pitch films /stories and in 2016, he hired me full time with The Blank Corporation. Grateful for my lucky life!
Z2 reached out to both me and Neil to contribute to the newest Tori Amos graphic novel. We now have a few of these hard cover books for sale! They retail for $39.99 and we have created a code to give you $5 off that. Please enter the code : Tori5 at check out at neverwear.net, that will take the fiver right off the total. (& if you don’t want the book, the code is good for $5 off anything at the shop)
BONUS: I asked Neil to sign only one copy that we will sneak into the pile- the rest will be signed by me. (Cat) My story about ghosts & music was beautifully illustrated by Paul Roman Martinez, who did the Calendar of Tales cards for us. Never did I dream I would share a book with Colleen Doran or Margaret Atwood, but here we are…
Summary from Z2 Comics (they have sold out of all the premium versions!)

Iron Maiden and Z2 Comics Announce Piece of Mind Graphic Novel
Tumblr media
The record that features all-timers such as "The Trooper," "Flight of Icarus" and "Revelations" vividly come to life in individual chapters dedicated to each of the nine songs on the historic release. Frontman Bruce Dickinson, an author in his own right, even contributed to the "Revelations" chapter, a particularly special moment as the song was his first official songwriting credit with Iron Maiden.
Tumblr media
Iron Maiden and Z2 Comics have announced a graphic novel based on the band’s Piece of Mind album, arriving November 21st. Below you can get an exclusive first look at the special alternate cover featuring Eddie as “The Trooper” and its accompanying collector’s card. The graphic novel celebrates the 40th anniversary of the legendary 1983 album, which contains all-time Maiden classics such as “Where Eagles Dare,” “Die with Your Boots On,” and “The Trooper.” With a solid track record of heavy metal collaborations with Anthrax, King Diamond, and more, Z2 Comics pulled out all the stops for Iron Maiden: Piece of Mind. The book features stories based on each of the album’s songs, including writing from frontman Bruce Dickinson (“Revelations”) along with an introduction penned by longtime Maiden manager Rod Smallwood. “When the idea of a Piece of Mind 40th Anniversary graphic novel first came up, I felt it was the perfect medium to expand outside the confines of the songs and to create new storylines and new dimensions through short form narrative and imagery,” said Dickinson in a press release. “With ‘Revelations,’ it allowed me to add more layers and dimensions to the lyrics and add a new twist.” He continued: “Equally as exciting was bringing together some of the top writers and illustrators in the industry who are all actual fans of the band, to add their own creative ideas inspired by the songs, Eddie, and the album itself. Z2 did a tremendous job in pulling this all together to create more than just a graphic novel, it’s what I consider a work of art.” The novel was edited by Rantz Hoseley. Other writing contributions include Steven Grant (The Punisher), Tony Lee (Doctor Who), Ivan Brandon (24Seven, Viking), Sacha Gervasi, Antony Johnston (Atomic Blonde), Leah Moore and John Reppion (Conspiracy of Ravens), Brian Posehn, Chris Roberson (iZombie), and Alison Sampson (Hit-Girl). Illustrators include Carson Thorn (Batman the Barbarian), Damien Worm (The October Faction), Francesco Dossena (Dylan Dog), Christian Rosado, Staz Johnson (Rogue Trooper), John Pearson (Mindset), Michael Avon Oeming (Powers), and Danijel Žeželj (Luna Park).   “The Trooper” Cutaway Edition of the novel retails for $40 is limited to 666 copies and can be pre-ordered via Rockabilia. Meanwhile, the Asylum Edition runs $300 and includes numerous extras such as art prints, a replica concert ticket, four collector’s cards, and an Eddie asylum model kit (shipped separately). Pre-orders of various formats are available via Z2 Comics.

THE DIRT: DECLASSIFIED
Part 7
Z2 senior editor Rantz Hoseley added: "Mötley Crüe remains the one group whose live show in the '80s felt truly dangerous. Now that I know the truth about the band, it’s obvious why. We're proud to have gained the trust of these live wires to tell the secrets they've been forced to cover up for decades."

SPIRITBOX Teams Up With Z2 COMICS For Haunting New Graphic Novel
Following their formation in 2017, Canadian quartet SPIRITBOX has continually possessed the charts with its dynamic blend of metal and block-leveling live shows. The group will now channel the story behind its 2021 debut, "Eternal Blue" (topping at No. 13 in the Billboard 200), in a new graphic novel co-created alongside veteran comic scribe Jim Krueger ("Earth X", "Justice") and artist Amilcar Pinna ("Poppy's Inferno", "Generation X"). The graphic novel unspools the eerie tale of Eva, a brilliant painter on the verge of unbelievable acclaim and success. But her inability to reconcile her public perception with her true self allows a Spiritbox — a device used to communicate with the dead — to transport her to an ethereal world. Here, she finds herself trapped in a realm where false shadows become real and dangerous.
"I am in love with this story and artwork. I cannot wait for you to discover Eva and the world that she has been thrust into," explains SPIRITBOX vocalist Courtney LaPlante. "It truly is an extension of my feelings and the state of mind I held while writing our album, 'Eternal Blue', and the lyrics that resonate with me still. Although we are very different, I can't help but let a lot of myself seep into Eva's personality and experiences. I care about her so much. Jim and Amilcar are brilliant and we are so happy to share this with you after keeping it to ourselves for so long."
Ushering the cursed device from the pages of "Eternal Blue: A Spiritbox Graphic Novel" to reality, deluxe versions of the book will include a fully functional Spiritbox replica. This machine cycles through the radio frequency spectrum, creating a din of white noise that lost souls harness to communicate from beyond the veil. This limited-edition Spiritbox is a precise replica of the mysterious artifact that allows Eva to escape from the shadow world. When activated, the box gives off a blue glow as it emits the noises of the spirit world. From the top of the box, an image of Eva is projected onto the ceiling.
For the last four-plus years, SPIRITBOX has sent tremors through the metal establishment; singles "Holy Roller" and "Secret Garden" respectively charted on Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs at 25 and within Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart Top 40. Following its release, the record peaked at 13 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and topped both Billboard's Top Rock Albums and Hard Rock Album charts. To date, SPIRITBOX has received more than 100 million digital music streams and has graced the covers of Revolver, Kerrang!, Rock Sound, Pollstar and had the number one song on SiriusXM Liquid Metal for two consecutive years — the first artist in the history of the program to achieve this.
"SPIRITBOX has such a precise concept of their aesthetic, and how it ties into their music, that it makes the process of collaboration and creative exploration a joy," editor Rantz Hoseley explains. "The result is an ambitious and haunting journey that pulls you down through the 'Eternal Blue' darkness into a surreal realm of deeply personal exploration. For me, this is one of those books where it's thrilling to get to read the story before everyone else, and I cannot wait for everyone to be able to experience Eva's journey."
"When I took on this job, I had no idea what it was going to become. I loved the poetry and metaphoric mysteries of SPIRITBOX (the band)," writer Jim Krueger says. "I loved their music and the chance to finally work with Z2. But again, I was unprepared for the magic that happened creatively with this one. Or the places I was going to be allowed to go. And the art, the art. I cannot wait for people to see this. But grab quick, I might be buying all the copies."
"I couldn't wish for a better script to draw! Jim's writing on 'Spiritbox' is weird, nightmarish, and surrealist! All things that I love to draw!" artist Amilcar Pinna elaborates.
Z2 and SPIRITBOX present "Eternal Blue: A Spiritbox Graphic Novel" by writer Jim Krueger, artist Amilcar Pinna, and colorist Treonna Farrell in both softcover and hardcover formats, with covers courtesy Justin Cherry available in comic shops, as well as deluxe, super deluxe and platinum editions packaged with a Spiritbox device, exclusive vinyl variant LP of "Eternal Blue", gallery-ready prints by Jason Levesque, and more available exclusively through Z2's webstore.

Is Tori Amos’s song “Flying Dutchman” inspired by you at all? That’s my head canon, at least.
No, that was about her friend Rantz Hoseley, who, in 1991 at San Diego Comic Con, after getting his Sandmans signed, gave me a cassette tape, saying “It’s by a friend of mine. She sings about you on this song Tear in Your Hand. Please don’t sue her.”

So excited to share with you a sneak peek of this project coming from Z2 Comics, a celebration of the work of Olivier Rousteing, creative director of the fashion house BALMAIN on his 10th anniversary!
What an honor to write and do all the art for this short story! The book was previewed during Fashion Week in Paris and will be available soon. I will let you know as soon as I know details.
And yes, for eagle eyed A DISTANT SOIL fans, I used some design element motifs from the series because the outfit from Balmain I was asked to feature (which had once been worn by Prince) was very similar to A DISTANT SOIL designs I use, as the diamond is the symbol of the House of the Avatar.
So there's a special Easter egg for my readers. Olivier made a stunning model, and it was a delight to work with my editor Rantz Hoseley on this amazing project!
