It was SUPPOSED to be a fun event.

It was SUPPOSED to be to raise money for charity with all of the Adlers and MSBY dressed up as handsome bunny men and serving everyone there and auctioning off dates with them.

It was SUPPOSED to be tailored outfits and dapper men all dressed up in elegant bunny ears and tails, showcasing their hard earned muscles.

Wakatoshi didn't get the fucking memo.

He IS showcasing his hard earned muscles though.

"Wakatoshi, jesus fucking christ, what are you wearing??" You hiss, wrapping your hand around his wrist and dragging him away to where no one can else can see him.

It's too late though.

Atsumu already has a dozen pictures on his phone.

Shoyo and Kotaro are crying from laughing so hard that they've slipped down the wall and are now on the floor.

Shugo and Nicolas are giving him a thumbs-up and telling him how good he looks.

"You said to come dressed as a bunny." Wakatoshi states.

"Yeah, but like that!" You point at the other men all lined up to go on stage, "Not like this..... Ohmygod. Ohmygod, you have a bunny tail on your ass. Ohmygod."

"They do too." He nods to the others.

"Yeah! But that's different compared t--...OHMYFUCKINGGOD!!!"

"Oh come on, he looks good!" Shugo takes Wakatoshi's side, "He'll probably end up raising the most money, honestly."

"Kotaro, give him your outfit." You tell the rival, figuring they're probably the closest in size.

"What?! No! I worked really hard on this!!" Kotaro's eyebrows furrow, hands flying to cover his chest.

"Ohmygod. Ohmygodohmygodohmygod, this is it. I'm getting fired. I'm getting fired! Ohmygod ohmygod......"

Shugo is right at the end of the night though.

Wakatoshi does raise the most money dressed like that.

Just thinking about how Toshi would show up to his daughter’s sports day event after overhearing her tell you, as you were tucking her into bed, “Maybe the reason dad doesn’t come to my events is that he's not proud of me…”. Decked out, head to toe, in various shades of his daughter’s team’s colours, he’d stand at the edge of the race track, towering over all the other parents. He might not be the loudest supporter, but his heart swells with pride when he watches your daughter give every event her all. His phone would buzz continuously after texting the group chat he wouldn’t be coming in for practice (with no explanation), but he wouldn’t pull it out to check it because his eyes are only on his daughter and his first and most important, job, is being her dad.

Also, can we talk about how Toshi spends the whole morning making your family bento boxes for the day, like how you and your daughter would when he has a game? He gets up earlier than usual and refuses any help. The apples are cut to look like bunnies, and the onigiris are moulded in the shape of bears. It might not be the tastiest or prettiest lunch, but it's the thought that counts.

Your heart breaks when she tells you this - and you realize that she's old enough now to notice how awkward Wakatoshi is with her sometimes.

And it's not that Wakatoshi doesn't love her, because of course he does.

He always looks at her like she hung all the stars in the sky, like she's the masterpiece she is.

He's always talking about her with everyone, he's always showing off pictures of her to his teammates, he's always putting her up on his shoulders after every match.

It's just that she's so much more different than him.

His whole life had always been sports, his whole life still IS sports.

And she took more after you, loving the arts more and sports weren't really her thing.

He's trying so hard though.

He'll participate in her little musicals that she writes, and he'll play the part of the prince in her re-enactments of her new favorite Disney movie.

He sits still while she does her best to draw his classicaly handsome features and he always tells her how nice her stories are even when they make no sense.

So the fact that she thinks Wakatoshi is embarrassed of her breaks your fucking heart.

Later that night, Wakatoshi comes home late from practice and his heart kind of drops when he sees that you're still awake and doing work at the kitchen counter.

"What are you still doing up, hmm?" He asks, giving you a kiss on the cheek in greeting.

"Mm, I could say the same about you." You answer and he laughs.

The laughter is short-lived though when he sees how your face changes.

"Did something happen? Is she okay?" He asks, glancing towards the stairs.

"Yeah, she's fine. She's asleep now. Just..."

You struggle to find the words.

"She thinks you aren't proud of her." You rip off the band-aid.

Wakatoshi's brow furrows, "What? Why would she think that?"

"I don't know," You shrug, "Maybe she sees how important sports are to you and she thinks that that's all you care about."

"That's not true though. You two are the only things I care about."

"I know, I know..." You say, "It'll pass, I'm sure. Just... I don't know... try to humor her in the meantime, I guess?"

"I don't want to just humor her though. I want her to know." Wakatoshi sighs.

He's so cute when he gets all determined like this. That must be where she gets it from.

You stand up from your stool at the counter and give him a small peck on the cheek because you feel sleep start to overtake you.

"She has a half-day tomorrow for a sports event if that helps." You offer.

Wakatoshi makes a very distinctly low 'hmmph' noise in acknowledgement.

She does the same when she's deep in thought too but wants to prove she's half listening.

Maybe they don't see eye to eye when it comes to sports, but she definitely has more things in common with him than she realizes.

"I'm sure you'll figure something out. You always do." You say as you smile at him and pat his arm, "Don't stay up too late."

He never does come to bed.

When you come downstairs for breakfast, Wakatoshi and your daughter are standing at the dining room table.

She's beaming because Wakatoshi is showing her all of the signs he made with her name on them in glittery letters. He also made them matching shirts to wear for the day - her name and his in messy bubble letters with an incredibly large #1 on them both.

Her favorite part about it all though is the lunches he made.

And she's running over to the fridge, door swinging wide open and hiding her from your view.

Wakatoshi is watching her though.

And he's hoping that he's helped her. Hoping she can see how he'll always be her #1 fan in everything.

Hoping that no matter what she does or who she wants to be, he's always proud of her no matter what.

I'd like to continue the toshi vs cat hcs that were sent in last week! so after that initial meeting between toshi and your cat toshi takes it upon himself to learn more about cats since he's never really been around them in general. the next time he comes to your place he's fully prepared to face your cat again, and slowly over time the two of them become best friends (making you a little jealous) where your cat even naps with toshi on his stomach! just cute little thoughts about toshi with a cat make me giggle hehe I hope you like it! <3

He goes to his local bookstore and he buys like every book he sees that says something about cat ownership, and when he gets to the front of the line, the shop owner is like "Oh! Did you get a cat?" trying to make conversation.

Normally you wouldn't let a whole ass stranger house-sit for you, but also Wakatoshi has proven himself to not be a whole ass stranger over these last few months of dating.

He's still absolutely terrified of your cat though, so most of your dates together are either spent at his home or he takes you out somewhere.

But what you don't know is the man has never had any experience with cats in his whole life. Besides the ones that he sees sometimes when he's out jogging, man has had no contact with cats ever.

And even though he's terrified of yours, he wants to form a bond with it. Because he knows your cat means the world to you, and you mean the world to Wakatoshi, so man is gonna befriend this cat or die trying.

So when you just sort of casually mention that you're going away for a weekend soon because of a work obligation and you pout that you can't really find a friend to babysit your house and your cat, Wakatoshi tells you he wants to.

And like I said, normally you wouldn't let a whole ass stranger house-sit for you.

But this is also gentle giant good boy Wakatoshi we're talking about here.

So when the weekend comes, before you take off, you're explaining your cat's feeding schedule and where he usually likes to hide if you can't find him and this and that.

Wakatoshi is trying to pay attention to what you're saying, but your cat is sitting on the kitchen counter, his tail all whippy and he's staring at Wakatoshi maybe about a foot and a half away.

Wakatoshi is very thankful you printed out everything you're currently telling him.

Anyways, after a good-bye kiss and a tight hug and a "call me when you land", Wakatoshi shuts the door and he jumps when he turns around and your cat is sitting a few feet away from him on the floor.

Wakatoshi seriously starts thinking that he's made a mistake offering to house-sit for you.

He carefully walks towards the cat, hugging the wall as he inches past it.

It's quite comical, really - a large and beefy 192 cm man flattening himself against the wall in order to not have to deal with a harmless little animal that weighs no more than 10 pounds.

Wakatoshi thinks he's in the clear when he's in the kitchen, but surprise!

Cat's on the counter now!

Wakatoshi tries to shake off the cat's intense gaze as he gathers things to make a sandwich for himself because he's a little hungry now.

"Sh- Shoo..." Wakatoshi says, his large hand gently whoosing through the air for the cat to understand after he lays everything out on the counter.

Cat doesn't move.

Cat's still staring at him.

"......Get down?" Wakatoshi tries.

Still nothing.

Wakatoshi sighs and goes about making his sandwich.

He's about halfway done when he hears the smallest trill after he opens the package of ham.

When he looks up, the cat's eyes are laser-focused on the deli meat that he pulls from the package.

Wakatoshi tests it out, slowly moving the ham slice back and forth in front of the cat, and the cat's eyes get even bigger.

He remembers reading something in his books about how feeding time with a cat helps the bond with them.

He's careful as he pulls apart the ham - a piece no bigger than his thumbnail is held out as a peace offering.

Wakatoshi holds his breath as the cat comes closer, sniffing at the deli meat before he snatches it up.

Wakatoshi swears the cat doesn't even chew it - it's just gone in one go.

But the ham is enough though.

For today.

When you facetime Wakatoshi after you land, he very proudly shows you that your cat is now in his lap and is purring away.
