watched the video diaries out of nowhere today and im hurt

it's actually such a tough watch now seeing louis be so boisterous and preposterous and all over the place shouting things into harry's face out of nowhere saying the most absurd things like i like girls who eat carrots and being a song with a blindfold over almost his entire face and his antics about it getting overly involved in character and talking to and referring to harry as liam and then wearing a dustbin lid as a cap on his head and reading a book and screaming NO jimmy protested and wearing a hat full of powder and just being LOUD LOUD AND LOUD

and it hurts so much more now because he was trying so hard to make up for his vocal absence, trying so hard not to fade into the back, saying all the most abrupt, absurd things wasn't just a way of uplifting the environment but it was his protest against anonymity, he was unbearable and blatant and garish because he knew that was the only way he could be MEMORABLE. what else could he go with? all the other personalities were taken. he couldn't be the drawlsome, charm oozing ladies man, they assigned that to harry. he couldn't be the typical smart uni sweetheart backwards hat wearing white boy, that would be liam. he couldn't be the overly patriotic, happy go lucky characteristically irish one, that was niall. he couldn't be the enigmatic and quietly alluring and note hitting member, they gave that to zayn. all they gave louis was less. all they gave louis was "oh, all others are taken."

so he made up his own game. he would be the loud one, the funny one, the overdoer the lothario, the never serious about anything one. and it just. hurts to watch him make himself shrink and stretch into that role but he had to do that for himself because no one else would. it was so. fucking. unfair. he felt like he had to keep up. make up with his humour what they wouldn't let him with his voice.
