/r/badcode is permanently closed

The last three weeks have been unprecedented. We went into a lockdown that we intended to run for 48 hours with the expectation that reddit would do literally anything other than what actually happened. Between the two active moderators who run this subreddit, we’ve both decided to leave. Reddit has a number of developer humour subreddits, may they serve you well in the future. • /r/programminghorror • /r/ProgrammerHumor • /r/programme_irl • /r/programmerreactions • /r/ProgrammerAnimemes • /r/ProgrammerDadJokes • /r/justgamedevthings •/r/itsaunixsystem • /r/softwaregore • /r/hardwaregore • /r/Sysadminhumor • /r/recruitinghell As for why we’re leaving. Accessibility was a non-negotiable aspect of the protest for us. By killing off third party apps, reddit is significantly regressing how individuals who use assistive technologies can interact with the platform. We’re not happy about this, and the announcement of the closure of Transcribers of Reddit was the final straw for us. We can’t do this work any more, and we’re out. We ask that reddit respect the wishes of the people who’ve been the custodians of this subreddit for many years, by letting it end here. We’ve dutifully answered mod mail and tried to enforce a sensible set of rules to the best of our ability. You sent us a vaguely threatening mod mail that we couldn’t reply to. We weren’t happy about that either. We could mute you though, sorry about that, but it is standard operating procedure for abusive users.
