Let's look at Infinite Tsukuyomi dreams once again:
and see how it's clearly shows Hinata is a really sh*tty person
Worth to mention - this is their perfect world, this is how they wished it to be. No limits, no restrictions, everything is possible.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let's see how they want the world to be:
Gaaras dream:
Tumblr media
His parents are ALIVE AND HAPPY. His siblings are with their parents and they are all a close, cute family.
Lee and TenTen:
Tumblr media
Lee wants to fight with Neji/Naruto and win, but Neji wanted to fight with Lee and we know they were sparring frequently.
So in Lee's perfect life, he and Neji are still happy with the only difference being - Lee finally won. Sakura is in love with Lee, but she is still herself. She is doing what she is always doing - being loud and happy, SHE IS HERSELF.
TenTen is standing with Neji and doing what they are always doing - judging Lee and Guy
So in TenTen's perfect world - Neji is alive and they are all (weird) happy family like they were before.
Choji, Shikamaru and Ino:
Tumblr media
Chiji found love and his father is proud of him. Nice, self-explanatory.
Shikamaru is watching 2 couples (Kurenai x Asuma and Shikamarus father and mother) while doing what he loves - complaining. Asuma is ALIVE and meeting his child, Shikaku is ALIVE and with the woman he loves - Shikamaru's mother.
So in Shikamaru's perfect world, they are all the same people with their loved ones. Shikamaru is complaining and happy to see them together.
Ino is with Sai and Sasuke who are fighting for her and her father is happy and proud of her AND ALIVE. Sasuke and Sai are fighting for Ino but look! They are not blushing, not doing anything OOC, they are themselves but in love with Ino.
So in Ino's perfect world, she is popular (with two guys she is attracted to), her father is happy and proud of her.
NOW TO THE SELFISH TEAM:
Kiba and Shino:
Tumblr media
They are both successful, Kiba is the Hokage and Shino found a new species. Not much to add there.
But then, Crème de la crème, this b*tch Hinata:
Tumblr media
In Hinata's dream, she is with Naruto (no surprises) and Neji is alive, but is it? Let's break this down:
Naruto is not Naruto. He is quiet, just sitting there. Naruto, the child with SO MUCH ENERGY he cannot stand in one place, just sitting. Naruto the child WHO SPEAKS SO MUCH is just quiet.
In Lee dream - Sakura is in love with him BUT SHE IS ACTING LIKE SAKURA, SHE IS SAKURA.
In Ino's dream - Sasuke and Sai are fighting over Ino, BUT THEY ARE THEMSELVES. They act like themselves. THEY ARE THEMSELVES.
Everyone who dreams of someone imagine them as they are. Sakura is Sakura, Sasuke and Sai are themselves. Even Temari speaking her one word in Shikamarus dream IS TEMARI. She speaks like she usually do when they are together.
But Naruto in Hinatas mind? Quiet. Stagnant. She could have imagined him as himself as a talkative, over-energized, NARUTO, but no. Quiet.
But that's less infuriating - more just annoying.
Now to the infuriating part.
WTF NEJI.
Why is he annoyed? Why in Hinata's perfect dream - Neji is mad and stalking her? Why in a world when they can be friends, when Neji can be proud of her (like fathers in Ino's or Choji's) she imagined him as unhappy?
And why is he spying on her? Why is he not happily with her, or with his friends OR HIS FATHER, but he is just sitting in the bushes and stalking Hinata?
That's again, not Neji, people who imagined the opposite of Neji saw him like Hinata wanted him in her dream.
Look at Road to ninja, a movie when they are THEIR OPPOSITES. What is Neji doing? Stalking Hinata and getting angry. Wow, would you look at this.
(And yes, that's a filler movie, and no I don't like studio pierrot, but COME ON, WHAT THEY IMAGIN AS THE OPPOSITE OF NEJI IS WHAT HINATA WANTED NEJI TO BE)
SHE COULD HAVE IMAGINED HYUGA CLAN BEING FIXED, MAIN AND SIDE BRANCH HAPPY TOGETHER.
But no, let's imagine that everything is like it is, Neji is still her slave (even after his death - she still imagine him as a slave, propably with his curse mark), he is spying on her and unhappy with it :)
Why dream of change, when you can be with your crush (who acts like a completely different person) and still having your slave, but in this world - he is stalking you! Yeey....
Tumblr media
I can't, I can't with that character, every chance she gets to do the right thing - she keeps on proving how s*it of a person she is...
Who *Should* Have Died From The Konoha ~12 Instead Of The One Who Did
rules:
we’re assuming they die under the same circumstances as the other guy
each one listed would have a complete storyline and their death would further the immediate plot as well as the overall narrative
i’m not “just picking characters i don’t like”
i do not condone killing characters for the sake of shock value but am considering shock as a legitimate tool in generating impact of a character’s death
miss me with “[redacted]’s death was a tragic result of the shinobi system” because no it was not. if that were true you could sub out [redacted] for any other child soldier and get the exact same impact. we know exactly why they were chosen and it’s got an (insufficient) explanation irl and in-universe.
#3. Sai
Tumblr media
Motivation: Friendship
First of all, imagine the shock value from killing one of THE Team Kakashi members.
Cool. Now imagine Naruto’s shock at Sai sacrificing himself for him.
Sai overanalyzes normal human interaction to the point of not understanding it. He reads books about how to befriend people. He still doesn’t understand it all the time but friendship is coming more naturally to him these days. What he does understand is that Naruto is the only chance of winning this war, and he’s down, and the enemy is aiming for him, and Hinata is trying to stop them but she’s on the ground, the spears are in the air and so is Sai, and Naruto is his friend.
He doesn’t need to think about it much deeper than that.
Now imagine Sasuke “What Does ‘Friend’ Mean To You” Uchiha witnessing this, witnessing Naruto’s reaction, and the further effects this may have on his character. After all, Sai was his replacement. If Naruto feels this strongly about losing someone who was decidedly not him but his friend and teammate nevertheless then… maybe.
#2. Rock Lee
Tumblr media
Motivation: Youth
Regardless of *how* this one plays out, no one wants to watch the determined, precious, comedic relief die; no one who’s watched this far into the show wants Rock Lee specifically to die. Huge impact already. But we can make it super duper sad because he deserves a memorable death. I see it going one of two ways.
One: Hinata doesn’t even have the time to try to shield Naruto because Rock Lee is faster. Ten-Tails barely launches the attack and Lee’s already taken/attempted to counter the hit. Perhaps this is his eight gates moment. Similar to Sai, Rock Lee would cite the power of friendship in his dramatic death speech, but he also was just… doing his duty. Truly, if you’re in the “Neji was just another tragic child soldier” camp, Rock Lee is the prime example of what I mean when I say you could sub in any child soldier, which I know sounds paradoxical but stay with me. Rock Lee’s entire personality is training harder than anyone else to benefit a system that will ultimately result in his death. If you want to make a point about child soldiers and needless lives lost, Rock Lee is the one to kill.
Two: Rock Lee doesn’t shield Hinata. He shields Neji. But not necessarily on purpose. The scene plays out exactly as written up to the moment Neji activates his byakugan, and the next frame isn’t him falling to the ground, it’s Rock Lee. The usually-somewhat-reserved Neji is devastated, probably in tears, demanding to know why he would do something like this. Rock Lee coughs up a bit of blood. “I was faster than you.” Smile. “I finally beat you…” Serene eyes fall shut. “…rival.”
And now imagine Naruto’s reaction to losing Bushy Brow. Imagine him watching Gai be brought to his knees by a blow that didn’t physically touch him. Imagine Madara incorrectly perceiving that. The implications. The foreshadowing.
#1. Shino
Tumblr media
Motivation: Legacy
I’m gonna be real, the writers were never gonna kill off Rock Lee like that, which is the biggest reason Shino has taken the crown as Most Worthy Of A Tragic Death in my book.
This dude has a connection to both Naruto and Hinata (making him equally as good a sacrifice as Neji if that’s the canon criteria). However, unlike most other (male) characters, Shino isn’t shown to have a particularly close friendship with Naruto. The one recurring joke around Shino is that he’s so irrelevant even Naruto can’t remember his name.
But he is good friends with Hinata. And he knows she’ll spend the rest of her life miserable if Naruto dies, and that if she dies right now she will never have gotten her life’s greatest wish.
So Shino goes out in a blaze of glory, and we’ll probably insert something about how Naruto has somehow secretly inspired him all along— or maybe something cynical about how he always wanted to be included by Naruto but never was unless Kiba or Hinata were around, so he’s sacrificed himself to maintain the livelihood of everyone else while not “losing” that friendship himself— and we of course get the touching moment with Hinata (oh just imagine the drama if Shino lay dying and told Hinata “Why did I protect you? It’s simple. The reason is… for the same reason you protected him.” and we find out that the huge secret crush of the show was not Hinata toward anyone, but Shino toward Hinata, never confessing because he knew it would be futile).
Good luck forgetting his name now, Naruto. Now no one will ever forget about Shino Aburame.
to be a naruto villain is to transcend your fate. the protagonist is supposed to fix you but the writer doesnt know what to do with you. the fandom eats up the sanitized versions of you, while reviling the you that had agency and whose voice said something true and beautiful. you are free. you are trapped by the narrative. the real you died with talk no jutsu, killed by an act of god. you are functionally frozen in time, and thus immortal
Sasuke and Neji stans who're also Hinata antis are so obvious with how they don't actually care about abuse victims.For starters,nobody who does pits us against eachother based on 'who had it worse' because it's just basic decency not to,for seconds they expect Hinata to have fixed the system as a literal child with no political power that'd been disowend by her dad,for thirds they don't actually potray Sasuke and Neji's trauma responses and only have them be rude and angry and violent over their abuse instead of showing stuff like dissociation and bad/lack of self-care habits,for fourths they make fun of Hinata for her stutter and autistic traits and even her body including scenes where she's a minor and fetishize Sasuneji's own autism-codings to fawn over them that they'd call them cold-hearted bitches for if they were women,for fifths they ship Sasuke with NARUTO because he was obsessed with projecting his coping mechanisms onto him to invalidate his own and call their dynamic 'gay history' and for sixths and last they treat irl abuse victims like shit the second they don't agree with them.You're not revolutionaries girlypops,you haven't done activism or direct action in your lives and you dedicate loads of time to bodyshaming,victim blaming amd adultifying an anime girl while saying your male faves are female-coded
amazed at how people still criticize kishimoto because the "hyüga clan's system doesn't make any sense" over the fact that ko hyüga is from the main family but not hizashi. the whole plot point of the hyüga's organization is that it doesn't make sense as it's a system based on oppression rather than the byakugan's protection, as that notion is a mere smoke screen with which it presents itself in order to seem necessary, which makes it paradoxical at its core. people in power decide who gets the seal and who doesn't based on what benefits them the most: hiashi never put hinata on a seal despite that being the practice before (at least, in hiashi and hizashi's case); therefore, he (or the former leader) likely benefited from having ko hyüga inside the main branch, so that's where he was allowed to exist.
The Hyugas are fucking pathetic it is so funny to me. They have a total of 5 named characters there, and only 1 of them is likeable.
They are "so great at Taijutsu" when there is like one guy that actually won a fight with it.
They put a seal jutsus on people that aren't in the Main Branch and they do nothing about it.
They claimed to be the most powerful Clan in Konoha, when there like 4 different clans that could wipe their ass with them.
An average Uchiha could beat like half of their asses because at least the basic Sharingan doesn't just let them see chakra.
They have this glaring issue is that if you attacked them from behind, like at the middle, they can't fucking see it.
And when one of them actually want to be a full 3 dimensional character with actual flaws and ideal ideas, they kill him off for a shitty ship that have great total of 5 scenes in canon and so that he doesn't laugh his ass off when he realizes that he was correct about his idea about destiny.
Could not have been me.
I’m conflicted. A part of me wishes Naruto would have simply left Konoha to go with Sasuke after the war, so that they could have gone exploring the world together, naturally falling into what they were meant to be. Knowing they’d done enough. But another part of me wishes that Naruto would have been true to his word, becoming Hokage and actually doing all that which he promised, doing what needed to be done, such as finally breaking the Hyuuga curse (ffs Neji deserved so much better it still pisses me off) and bringing forth the truth about what happened to Itachi, the Uchiha clan, and what actually led to their demise, making sure those responsible faced justice, so that the memory of the Uchiha clan would serve as a beacon of what happens when a system eats itself from the inside without hesitation, finally bringing Sasuke the peace he deserves. I just want my boys to be happy.
Coming back from the dead for a minute to say that as someone who was super active in (and is still a quiet member of) the Neji Support Squad ™️, it is never okay to treat someone like garbage for having a different opinion about him, or Hinata, or anyone else. I’ve seen things getting heated lately and I do not support harassment of real-life people over fictional characters. End of story.
Personal opinion and rant ahead:
Honestly, characters like Madara and Sasuke (also Nagato, Konan, Neji etc.) teach a lot more about "never giving up" than Naruto Uzumaki.
These characters at some point in their lives lost everything they ever had, lost all hope, but still kept going, trying to change the world for better, still fought like madmen for their rightful place in the world. Maybe they used wrong methods, maybe they weren't 100 percent right, but they still kept going.
They kept trying to climb their way out of their own grave, a grave other people dig for them.
If that's not about never giving up, then what is...?
To add: this is not to say Naruto never suffered, because he did. And a lot. But the other characters...had much bigger odds against them.
"…So you claim Hinata had no consideration for life of anyone other than Naruto... and then use a screenshot from the manga of her literally showing consideration for the wellbeing of someone who isn't Naruto."
Considering how things went after Neji vs Naruto, chances are that things changed in the Hyuuga family for those other than just Neji. Even if not, Hinata risking her life =/= a lack of consideration for anyone's life other than Naruto's, despite consequences. Or are you saying you’ve never done anything without carefully considering every single possible consequence first?
But hey… "Tell me you didn’t read my ask properly without telling me you didn’t read my ask properly".
"Or are you saying you've never done anything without carefully considering every single possible consequence first?"
First of all, sure, everyone did, but not necessarily when the consequences are:
1) you will just get in a way of a battle and be a great inconvenience instead of helping
(of which she was aware of)
Tumblr media
2) getting your guard punished/possibly killed
3) you hurting the person you are supposed to "help" (I'm not gonna repeat myself, you can read it here)
4) you dying for no reason
5) if you somehow don't get killed, you becoming a burden to medics who could devote their time to people who did help or got hurt by ricochet of the attack.
Second of all, you are putting it in a way that implies that Hinata did that only once, and you are wrong.
At some point of someone consistently doing the same thing you have to admit they either do that maliciously or that they are plain stupid.
I'm just gonna bring a few examples (that I talked about before over and over, but I'll do that again, especially for you)
Tumblr media
Shimamaru: almost died
Hinata: "But I want to stay beside Naruto too"
Does she care? No. Naruto-kun. That's all she cares about.
But maybe that's because they weren't too close, because who cares about a person from your class that is your comrade in war, he's not Naruto-kun.
How about her own teammate BEING CARRIED OUT BY MEDICS?
Tumblr media
The oiment Hinata has is more important for Naruto-kun, who is completely fine.
Who cares about Kiba, he is just being taken by medical team, but he can be an afterthought, they are just teammates after all.
How about her family?
Neji, who will be punished for hurting her (because, as you recognize YOURSELF, it's before Naruto vs Neji fight, so the punishment WILL BE THERE), who asked her TIME AND TIME again to just give up. Why will he do that, huh? Maybe because he had known what happened TO HIS FATHER FOR JUST THINKING ABOUT HER IN A BAD WAY.
Tumblr media
Anyway, how about making Neji hurt her, then provoking him by RUBBING IT IN HIS FACE THAT HE IS BELLOW HER?
Tumblr media
Neji just said (again) that she should give up and stop the suffering, she just casually mentions that he is "lost and suffering" because he's not in the main family.
(And before you say it was nice of her, NEJI AND THEREFORE MANGA showed us he didn't appreciate it, and the guard also saw that Neji was provoked and WAS ABOUT TO CHARGE AT HER FOR THAT COMMENT)
But ok, maybe they weren't close enough of a family, so it was acceptable to provoke him and get him to be punished, because you know...
Tumblr media
Naruto-kun is watching, so...
How about closer family? How about her own sister?
(Now, I don't like to quote the movies because I prefer to base my opinion on canon manga only, but you, Hinata Fans, love it, so let's go)
Tumblr media
(Credit to whoever made it, I can't find the original)
Hanabi was just kidnapped, but Hinatas mind is occupied, because well... Naruto-kun 🥺
BUT OK, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, THEY DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH OF A BOND BETWEEN THEM TO CARE.
Let's look at the person who took care of her for her whole life, her guard, her family, let's look at Ko:
Tumblr media
Oh wait, we have already seen it.
It doesn't matter who it is, if it's her comrade, friend, teammate, cousin, sister, guard. If that person is not Naruto-kun, their life or well being is irrelevant to Hinata.
She cares about Naruto, that's it. Nothing else and noone else matters.
Do you understand?
So back to the beginning:
At some point of someone consistently doing the same thing you have to either admit they do that maliciously or that they are plain stupid and when it comes to LIFE OF OTHER PEOPLE I'll say that it either way makes you a bad person 🤷‍♀️
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, in conclusion:
I did read your ask, I just assumed (and that is my mistake, I apologize) that if you are protecting Hinata, you shoud know first thing about her, but not only you didn't read the manga, you didn't even read the parts that had Hinata in it.
So, please, first read at LEAST chapters that have Hinata in them, before you speak (It's not a lot, she is a background character after all) or I'm not gonna answer to you again, because I'm tired of repeating myself for a 1000th time.

one thing i think people tend to overlook is that genin neji— the angry, self-righteous, arrogant prodigy— actively chose not to punch down.
he knew lee was weaker than him and didn’t get involved in senseless fights with him. if they were training, sure they fought, but neji and lee are framed as narrative rivals. you think we’d have a filler episode or a single manga panel showing them having a naruto/sasuke level fight over something stupid, but we don’t. (and i’m pretty sure lee instigated every single one of their fights.)
neji just so happened to come across team ten in the forest of death, and while they (hilariously) tried plan after plan to negotiate with him for their lives— mind you, this is one kid against an entire team of other kids— he walked away.
when neji was chosen to 1v1 hinata, he tried to talk her into avoiding that situation altogether. they both knew what the outcome of that match was going to be, and he spent a good bit of time trying to talk her out of fighting him, even trying to scare her out of proceeding with the match before it began.
and he did the exact same thing to naruto, which was yet another match he was *supposed* to win by a landslide. obviously we the audience know how that turned out, but no one in-universe knew that naruto v. neji was going to be a major upset, including naruto and neji. neji tried to make naruto stop fighting him even when he was winning.
and, like. you can chalk it up to neji being a smug little brat if you want. he was a smug little brat. but i think it’s very telling that The Kid To Beat only chose violence when his opponents did first.

how naruto characters stub their toes
Tumblr media
act like it was nothing and carry on:
kakashi, kurenai, sasuke, neji, tenten, itachi, shino, kakuzu
starts crying:
hinata, tobi
curse and then walk off to go heal it:
tsunade, ino, sakura, tenten, shikamaru, kankuro, orochimaru, kabuto
laughs at themselves then moves the chair outta the way:
asuma, konan, kisame
throws a fit, curses at it, sobs violently, holds tf out of it, then feel embarrassed at how much they overreacted about it:
might gai and rock lee (they cry together), NARUTO, HIDAN, KIBA, JIRAIYA
has never stubbed their toe:
madara

Also hinata fans: hiashi is a horrible person,he abuses hinata!
What 🤡 hinata fans are.
So,”hiashi is a horrible person who abuses hinata” but “hiashi said that side and main branch are equal and we can trust him 100%”…

Naruto Universe is Deterministic
The World of Naruto, as we know it, has been confirmed to be deterministic by Boruto. Momoshiki has been confirmed to be able to see into the future, precognition is incompatible with free will. Meanwhile, Boruto is all depressed looking in the timeskip tease because he's become Dr. Manhattan and has lost the illusion of free will. He can not change what will happen or what he does but he can change his mindset about it ("I'm still a shinobi"). This can also relate back to the Otsutsuki God's name (a reference to dramatic performance, a play, deceitful people acting out roles etc), Shibai might be a 'God' but without the illusion of free will, he is aware of his existence as a mere puppet to destiny and the role he is compelled to play.
In other words, Naruto was fated to succeed and fulfilling his purpose as the Child of Prophecy. He literally did not have the choice to fail. Neji was right. So very, very right, and he had to be killed because he knew too much.
