pokemon ship week will run again in 2024!

it's been planned since the turn out of the event last year that an event would be held this year as well, but before it fully gets on track for planning, i'd like to put out a little interest check/survey! not necessary to fill out, but i'd really appreciate it if anyone interested could fill this out!

additionally, i will likely be looking to bring on some moderators to help with this years event, particularly so that i can allow both anipoke + pokespe participation this year, since i'm not knowledgeable enough to moderate those myself.

for full transparency: i am considering handing off the head moderator position to someone else, because it's not the easiest thing for me to moderate while being an active participant, especially as a currently one man team. but for this year i'll definitely still be very hands on in planning it, i want to make sure that if i do end up handing off that role after this years event, that it's in good hands. i'm worried this'll cause a little bit of pressure or doubt for anyone who would like to get involved with helping, but please don't feel pressured by it T__T hopefully though, soon things will be a lot more organized with a team behind it for such a big event rather than one person.

Day 1 - Confession

My oc x canon ship Kai + Arven. I'm shit at doing layouts but i love this drawing of Arven. The Luvdisc's name is Precious and i actually have it in the game. It took me forever to get a Love ball. Then when i finally caught it I got a whole buncha fairy shards and made its Tera type fairy and gave it only fairy type moves + Tera blast. It was a lot of effort for a pokemon I'm never gonna use lol.

Hi! I have two questions. One, could we do OC / OC ships or is it the same as OC / canon? And two, what tag would we use for the ship week? Like say we write a fanfic for Archie/Maxie, we would tag the ship but would we tag pkmnshipweek as well or something else? Thank you!

for now i'd say it's the same case as oc/canon, mostly due to the fact there are talks of an oc/canon pokemon ship week (though in this case it would probably be renamed to just oc pokemon ship week as a general thing) being hosted after the gameverse event, so i imagine it'd be best to include oc / oc stuff in that one.

if anyone is writing on ao3, there's now a collection made for works for the ship week.

im not too familiar with how many other fanfic sites work so i dont rly have anything proper set up for them, but i'd say just to post the link to the fic on social media and tag it with #pokemonshipweek2023 (which is just the general tag for anything related to it, i'll probably look through #pokemonshipweek as well just incase)

Hello ! Can you please show how to make a post for the week ? (how you're supposed to present your work and what tags do you use...)

hi! here's a quick guide made to the best of my ability that should hopefully be helpful!

here's essentially an example of how you'd format an art post for the event, though it's not 100 a template that you have to stick to. but it is essentially: [day number] - [prompt](optional if youre not sticking to the prompts, and if you're doing more than one prompt just put a / inbetween them. example: confession / vacation) the pokemonshipweek2023 tag is the main tag i will be checking, but i'll also be checking just "pokemonshipweek" on its own just incase there's any confusion about tagging. for tagging ship name i recommend tagging the ships name as it is in the ___shipping name format, but if it doesn't have one, tagging it as a portmanteau ship name is also fine. you can tag the characters as well as the ship its really up to you if you want to do that or not (i know personally i sometimes get awkward putting my ship art in character tags)

the formatting for posting fanfiction is relatively the same, except i'm not sure how exactly fanfic posting etiquette is on tumblr specifically, but for fanfiction add a link to your work in the post, and caption it and tag it the same way. i'd recommend also posting a summary of the work alongside it whether it be in image form or text form! (and tagging applies essentially the same way for fics, but also remember if you're writing on ao3 to post it in the ship week collection!)
