September 9, 2023 - Plumbeous Sierra Finch (Geospizopsis unicolor) Found in western South America from western Venezuela to southern Argentina, these birds in the tanager family live in open grassy areas, including wetlands and rocky slopes. Foraging mostly on the ground in pairs and small flocks, sometimes with other species, they eat seeds and some invertebrates. They build their nests in rock crevices from woven grass and horsehair. Females lay clutches of two or three eggs.
