#please don't leave any pointless hate on this post i like the ship but i like the 2019 movie too so please

Okay, me again 🤭 seems like Little Women is preoccupying my thoughts tonight, and I don't remember if I've seen you talk about this, but I'm really curious: thoughts on Jo and Bhaer ? I really liked him in the book (which i read before seeing the movie) but not as a romantic interest for Jo, bc he's so much older than her. Then the movie made him younger and I feel like the actors had so much chemistry, I was genuinely rooting for them! And while they do end up together in the end, I read this article talking about how this did not happen "irl" but what Jo put in her book bc the editor wanted the main female character married off. This was also supported by the colors of the scenes, how the present day scenes are all duller/cold colors vs flashbacks/scenes of the book Jo writes being so sunny; the epilogue scene (where Jo and Friedrich are married) is drenched in sunlight, and the scene of her chasing him to the train station is also very warm-colored. So thoughts on this whole thing? It's all the more interesting for me to hear them bc I'm obviously looking at this from a very romance pov (can't help it lol) but platonic, friendship love is the lense you look through most of the time (or so I've noticed).
There are two witches within me. One loves Jo and Fritz and doesn't care about the nature of their relationship as long as they're having fun being their lovely nerdy selves, the other one is perfectly aware that I, as someone who strongly identifies with Josephine Jo March, would only agree to marriage if it resembled the one Jo and Fritz have in the books. (Would still elope though, let's not get too ahead of ourselves, was talking to a childhood friend a few weeks back and my sister joked about me possibly having already eloped with someone and my childhood friend said: Jo. That would be very you. I rolled my eyes and started to talk about how incompetent the writers of my bio textbook are, but who am I to argue, I'm just the person in question here.) I strongly recommend reading Little Men and Jo's Boys because, to be frank, those works forced me to accept the grip this fictional relationship has on my rotten, evil, spinster-wanna-be heart. The rest is under the cut because it all got concerningly long. How shocking :O
It's complicated! But it always is with me and my romantic otps because I always identify with the people involved in those ships that I almost ship them in spite of myself. It's easier if I identify with both parties and if I identify with them in a way that doesn't make me completely insane (aka I don't identify with them entirely), but offers me a certain amount of comfort probably because I've already come to terms with the thing about them that I relate to. (this is how I feel about sparkly GG's Dan and Blair) BUT with Jo and Fritz or with Ten and Rose I just go :| because they involve characters who find the idea of settling down repelling and uncharacteristic to their understanding of themselves, like in total contradiction of who they are or have always been and then there's this person and it's just... well this. I think what makes it even more unsettling for me is how this isn't exactly a conscious decision, it's just that Jo and Fritz love spending time together. They simply enjoy being around each other and geeking out and talking literature and art and politics and philosophy and Jo feels so seen and understood in an intellectual sense for the first time ever and that's so big and so important to her. And I think that's what will always be true about their dynamic no matter how you view it. (and I beg to argue that lw 2019 offers enough room for any interpretation)
(Mainly talking about book Jo x Bhaer in the following paragraphs because I don't ship them in the 2019 movie and my interpretation overlaps with the one you presented in your ask, boy do I love having multiple versions of the same story in my head.)
Idk they just kinda slip into sharing their personal worlds with one another, there's not really a big realisation about the nature of their bond while they are together, the italicized oh moment is a result of overthinking the interactions after they have already occurred. While they're together it's just fun and pleasent and Jo doesn't have the time to go through potential meaning of it all while it's happening which is quite telling because, with Jo being a storyteller, she observes every moment from that lens, but with Fritz reality is somehow enough? YOUR HEART UNDERSTOOD MINE?!?!??!?! That's from the book, that's the essence of Jo and Fritz. You can't exactly stay immune to that. Like Fritz is the most Jo-ish love interest Jo could have gotten. He's bookish and an outcast and raggedy (affectionate) and so deeply kind. In the words of Penn Badgley (I love using his name as one of a great philosopher, @/tumblr girlies jochase has A Type) it's this completely heady thing where Jo falls for this person because he's her imperfectly perfect intellectual match and he gets her and he listens and she ends up loving him romantically because of all that. It's a progression! This is Jo March, of course it's a story in chapters, right? Everything is a story with Jo. And Fritz is kind of her indicator that real life can be just as literary, but maybe not in the way that she expected it to be? LMA really said if I have to marry my girl off she's getting the most unconventional marriage there is or she's dying, like that's it. All in all, it's such a cool dynamic regardless of the label you decide to put on it, but I think in the book you can't read it as anything other than romantic because it kinda takes away from the power of what LMA did with them, you know? Also like. I love how, in the book, Fritz isn't portrayed as conventionally attractive, but it's quite clear that he is attractive to Jo, which is also a brilliant move on Alcott's part. Also peace.mp3.

Why is my playlist about Regulus Black the way it is?
Hi! So—whenever I get terribly obsessed with a fictional character I make them a playlist. Now it's up to…*drumroll* Regulus Black!
But...you all must know a few things:
I am a jegulus shipper (that does not mean I hate Lily, those things should have nothing to do with each other), so a few of these songs do revolve around this ship but it's okay, bare with me.
My first language is not english. If I make mistakes along this post please forgive me, I'm trying.
I’m known for doing long-ass playlist’s so I only chose ten of the sixtyfour I have.
Also if you don't agree it's okay just don't tell me cause I'll fight you.
That disclosed, let's start.
Seraph by DPR IAN.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am a SUCKER for the Regulus/Icarus... headcanon (I guess you could call it). Listen to this: he flew too close to the sun, he was young and didn't know anything afar from being trapped, died drowning searching for this new freedom he just discovered was actually for him. Regulus IS Icarus and no one can stop me from relating songs that talk about the myth to him. Wich takes me to the next song.
Sunlight by Hozier
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hozier is talking about Jegulus in this song and I love that for him (and for me). The same logic, Regulus is fighting for that light he didn't knew he could have and was willing to sacrifice his life for it. I love him so much.
A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This whole song is so Regulu in crimson rivers coded its crazy and meanwhile I don't fully love Regulus' character always being a tragedy I love how this song wraps the way I think Regulus understands love: intense and sometimes violent but completely devoted.
when the party is over by Billie Eillish
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Regulus stayed so Sirius could leave (do not take this the wrong way I know it was hard for Sirius too). He yearns for a different live, for another chance but still belives he doesnt deserve it THAT'S what this son is about, don't care what anyone say's.
Money Power Glory by Lana del Rey
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Regulus Black is the Lana del Rey character. Its giving: ambitious, old money, revenge,"I wanted you to know that it was I who discoverd your secret." type of vibe.
Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I dont think I have to explain further. Taylor told me herself this song was about him.
Moon Song by Phoebe Bridgers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Read the lyrics with jegulus in mind and let it sink in. This is my personal headcanon but Regulus knew about the profecy before going to the cave so...there is that. He feels so much and loves so much that even himself can't bare it.
Not Strong Enough by boygenius
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This album has me in a chokehold and Im certain that if Regulus could hear it, it would have him in one too. R.I.P Regulus Black you would've loved boygenius.
bellyache by Billie Eillish
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hear me out on this one! This song is a revenge crime comitted mostly out of spite that ended up being pointless anthem just like Regulus' whole horrocrux hunting (I mean this in the nicest of the ways).
Turtles All The Way Down by Sammy Copley
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS IS THE REGULUS SONG. Each line hits you like a train. Actually Regulus is real and he wrote this song. Please, if you listen to any of this songs let it be this one. ITS JUST SO HIM.
And thats it. I'm missing songs but I think that pretty much sums up how I understand him. I love Regulus and this songs and I hope you all love them too.
Bye bye! : )

about me!! yeah :)
name: Miles!
pronouns: they/them. I prefer gender neutral or masculine language. (mx./mr., sir, etc.)
funky brain go- *incomprehensible jargon and mechanical screeching*: a lot of this fandom is neurodivergent, so I want to share that I am autistic, have ADHD, dyscalculia, and anxiety. Many of these things affect the timeliness, or other aspects, of my posts or responses.
I don't want to share my age publicly, but I want to state that folks of all ages are welcome here! Please note though, that some of my content may involve slightly more mature themes, such as swearing (not from me directly, but from reblogs, memes, audios used over videos, etc.), and sometimes angsty topics discussing headcanons and theories related to mental illness or trauma. I will never post anything ns\ft. I will always add CWs and TWs to my posts; if I miss one, please don't be afraid to let me know, or request anything specific!
favourite character: Barnacles 🛞💙
(VERY honourable mentions: Tweak 🔧💚, Natquik/Tracker ❄️🤍, and Kwazii/CJ/Pete 🏴‍☠️🧡)
posts I make: character/episode analyses, random observations/thoughts, funnies/jokes/memes, headcanons/theories, videos/edits, etc.
favourite GBR song(s): Pirate Pie and Briney Blue. Kwazii go prr <3
favourite special: Great Arctic Adventure
favourite season: all of them 4th and 5th
go listen to my Octonauts playlist >:)
"I sent an ask and it's been a while lmao": I struggle with executive dysfunction really badly, but I will get to you eventually. I pinky-promise. /gen
"Where's your askbox?"
ask/dni rules under cut:
(the block button is my dearest sweetest bestest friend <3 so read carefully lmao)
(There are "\"s through some words, so that this post isn't filtered for people who have them blocked.)
Please DON'T ask me shipping questions. This includes my opinions on certain ships, what I ship or don’t, prompts or requests implying certain ships, etc. I know that shipping is fun for a lot of people, but publicly talking about it triggers my anxiety, so I’d rather not. Thank you for understanding.
Side note: Please DON'T TAG ANY of my posts as #ship, unless explicitly stated otherwise with a "#tag however you wish" or "#interpret how you wish". It's rare that I use these tags, but if I do, it's fair game. If you leave comments on my posts or in my inbox about shipping, I will not respond to them, and I'll probably remove them.
Side note²: I don't like pros\hippers. Go away. If I see ANY pros\hip content or support of such content on your blog AT ALL you will instantly be sentenced to life of a block without trial. No excuses, no second chances. ❌
Keep it family friendly. Meaning: No swearing or usage of slurs (even if you don’t know it’s a slur, or if you personally can/have reclaimed it, I will delete your ask/reply, and block you. the word “queer” is fine.), no references to or specific asks about dr*g use or alc*hol, no lemony or sugg\estive material, no graphic viole\nce, go\re, or inju\ry. This applies to comments on my posts, as well.
No queer\phobia (this includes gatekeeping), no rac\ism or xeno\phobia, no able\ism. (or any other kind of -isms, if they ever come up). Don't ever send me hate speech, dis\course, or bullying, regarding myself or others. It's pointless, will be deleted on sight, and I may block you. Go eat a snickers and think about your life choices.
If you really want to ask something that might imply one of the above, please put CWs and TWs* at the beginning of your ask; and be very clear that what you're sending in is a genuine question*, headcanon, or whatever else it may be. (*If it's a question, I may respond privately.)
Also remember that I can decide to just,, not answer something, even if it follows the rules. Usually I’ll do this if I’m not sure how to answer an ask, like, if I’m not knowledgeable enough on the subject, or it references a non-octonauts piece of media that I’m not a fan of, or it features a weird specific trigger/squick of mine that you would have no way of knowing about. Either way, if you’re sitting in your room staring at the wall and you randomly think to yourself, “Hey... my ask never got answered.......” that could be why.
I welcome angst concepts with open arms! But again, please use CW/TWs, and refer to the previous rule’s “no graphic viole\nce” note. If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know I love some good emotional angst~ (high school english teacher voice: "in writing, that's called ✨catharsis!✨")
...UNLESS it’s just a case of Funky Brain Syndrome (executive dysfunction, or good ol' anxiety). In that case, I promise it's not personal, and I am sincerely sorry for the delay—please continue being patient 🙏, and take this lollipop for your troubles: 🍭
———
*Quick glossary:
a CW warns for content that someone may not want to see or hear, for any reason. (examples: viole\nce, ns\ft, certain people or topics, phobias, squicks or triggers: see final note.)
a TW warns for content that may be triggering for someone to see or hear. (examples: flash\ing, eye\strain, unr\eality, vents, tics, certain topics, words and/or phrases, or phobias.)
a squick is something that may make someone highly uncomfortable to see, hear, or read about; it's different from a trigger in the sense that they're usually more mild, and less likely to cause real damage or harm, but you'd still prefer to avoid them nonetheless. (examples: they can be anything, but are often things like certain tropes, topics, ships, or milder phobias, secondhand embarrassment, etc.)
The two words CW + TW can, and very often do, go hand-in-hand; but the difference can matter sometimes—so can the difference between a squick and a trigger.

Hey I saw your post about people not leaving comments. To be honest I never leave any because I just don't know what to say ? There's fics I LOVE but I don't have the words to actually say something and post a "good" comment 😕.
First of all, there just doesn’t exist the “perfect” review to a story and at the same time you actually also can’t do anything wrong.
I mean, you actually can do something wrong, if you comment for example that this story is bullshit or I hate this ship, it's so disgusting - seriously, please just never leave such comments! If you don’t like the ship, just stay away from the story and don’t leave such comments, while that “disgusting” ship acutally means the world to the writer. It’s okay, not everyone can/has to like everything, but it’s so pointless to make such comments and it's also very disrespectful to the writer. And if you really shouldn’t have liked the story, you can still tell the writer so, but in a respectful way, not just saying that this story is bullshit. Give constructive criticism, give the writer some tips or point out mistakes they have made, no matter if it were grammar mistakes or mistakes in the storyline, but at the same time maybe also leave compliments or tell the writer what you have still liked about their story. Don’t just leave a negative, when not even offensive or hurting comment. Reviews are so important to writers to grow, develop and especially learn. If you don’t say anything, this process can’t work.
But I digress, back to your actual question anon - like I have already said, you actually can’t do anything wrong. Believe me, as soon as a writer gets the notification for a new comment under one of their fics, you already made their day. Seriously, there is no better or more satisifying feeling for a writer than to hear people's thougts or feelings about their work. You know, those stories we write are our babies and of course we want to hear people saying about how beautiful our babies are and how proud we can be about what we have achieved here. In these moments we writers are like little kids, who have just finished a drawing and best want to show it to the whole world and hear how well we have done and people praising us for our hard work.
So it doesn’t matter what you say, as long as you say something! It actually doesn’t even have to make sense. For example you can leave a comment like this one SKCDJFHB Oh my God! I love your fic so much! Thank you so much for writing it and sharing your work with us! You brightened my day! Believe me, you will also brighten the writer’s day with your comment then.
And do you know what such a comment does cause to a writer? It motivates them like nothing else, to keep going, to finally start writing for that fic again and you can even get some insider knowledge about the story from the writer themselves. Reviews are so powerful and only has benefits for both, the writer and the reader.
So, you really don’t have to be afraid to leave comments or to say the wrong thing, because that actually isn’t possible. Maybe show some intereset, tell the writer your favourite scene of the story and how it made you feel. You can even point out some guesses about how you think the storyline will continue, giving the writer so some inspiration so or just rave over the ship, this is actually always good 😉
Just don’t be afraid, because every comment is great as long as you leave one. And if you don’t feel comfortable to leave a review right under the story, maybe you can find another way, like searching for the writer here on Tumblr and leave a message in their inbox, maybe even anonymous, but if you really like the story that much, it would mean the world to the writer to get to know about it as well and how much you actually appreciate their work. Also, it doesn’t matter how old the story actually already is or how long ago the last update was, just leave a comment if you really, really like it. Who knows, maybe your comment motivates the writer to finally start writing for this fic again and you all benefit from it with getting an update soon.
Comments can work wonders, believe me 😉
