Good day everyone! I’m going to annoy you with some history to explain the character of Oliver Fog from Reverse: 1999!

Now, some of you may read his story and think: “Hang on a minute. How is he from the 1950s when the era clearly mentions the Industrial Revolution? And all the factories?”

Good question. In fact for 4 days in December 1952 (the same year that Oliver’s father is said to die), something called the Great Smog of London happened. It was a huge wave of fog with no wind, heavy cold, and, of course, thick fog. At the time it was estimated it killed 4000 people - but nowadays we estimate the number was roughly 10,000.

And I think you can see now why Oliver is so dedicated to purifying fog (that and it’s his family’s role).

Here’s something little I put together for DQB2 fans. I call it “Warwick’s Resignation Letter” - a hidden look into Warwick’s mentality by someone who really likes him.

Dear your majesty, (No, that sounds too informal.)

Your gracious majesty, (It sounds like I’m trying to flatter him.)

I have served as your humble servant for many a year. However the time has come for me to resign from my position as Captain of the Moonbrooke Brigade of Guards.

I have thought this through heavily, and I am not befitting of the post. For too long my flaws have been hindering my work. I am

I just wanted to infodump a little on cultural knowledge to explain Regulus (R1999)’s character!

So as you all know, she’s a DJ and pirate in 1960s Britain. This is actually pretty cool, as at that time, the UK was pretty much flooded with pirate radio (such as Radio Luxembourg, Radio Caroline, etc). In fact BBC Radio One wasn’t set up until 1967 and that was only because of how popular pirate radio was. So Regulus is a reference to all those DJs who worked on pirate radio at the time!

(Edit: And her song from her character story contains several song references from the time including Help! by the Beatles and somewhat indirectly Purple Haze (purple fog in the story) by Jimi Hendrix).
