i've been reorganizing flipp's backstory before the steakhouse, and i think i'm solidifying them as an elite-in-training aspiring to become an invader (not particularly because they WANT to, but it's what everyone around them wants + would praise them for...)
they only got so far because a lot of fellow soldiers and affluent commanders thought their eagerness to assist was endearing and kept them around. other than that their abilities are pretty average, and absolutely CANNOT be assertive or sneaky. their combat abilities only just barely passed, it was NOT an impressive display.
(the test gives them a bit of an identity crisis. they realize they don't know what they like outside of "being helpful." that's why the service drone comment pangs so much. they're a soldier, not a drone. right..?)
anyway. flipp does eventually pass their final test. they saw it as their escape from food service hell. unfortunately, a certain grill-lord doesn't like the idea of losing an employee... i might make a thing for that soon :3

LMAO so i’ve been doodling this shooting star arcade scenario for months now (its very obvious by ely’s hair progression) and i just wrapped it up. dumping the doodles here
they get cotton candy!!!! it is cute
also they attempt to finesse a claw machine and fail </3
gaz doesn’t get them any prizes <3 good for her! she and tak are the only ones who get tickets on arcade trips, bc ely is too busy getting records on guitar hero and ddr and zim + dib are just kind of stupid
speaking of which! zim cheats at ddr and still loses every level
ely should know getting those two in an enclosed space is a bad idea </3
anyways ultimately zim burns the place down and they get banned city-wide. surprisingly it took them multiple arcade trips for this to happen
i have one more piece of art for this. but it is cringe and i am putting it in the fic and not posting it anywhere else. ok bye

ok it's nighttime where i am which makes it PERFECT to go on about my
✨post-crystallized ninjago brain ramble and non-critical retrospective✨
because. ninjago do be making my brain go !! and i need to yell abt it to myself to my blog void b4 i go onto dragons rising and stuff. i talked abt this on discord but only 2 ppl following me are in that server so wtv (hi btw X3)
i want to preface this by saying i dont interact with the ninjago fandom at all, and i know near nothing about behind-the-scenes things or stuff said by production. this is all my thoughts babeyy (which means im going to sound absolutely clueless and talk abt things that hav probably already been resolved. wtv) none of this is supposed to be critical thinking LOL pls dont attack me. i sound complainey but i dont hate the show, this is how i show love for media <3
really the most pressing thing to me was. being really frustrated about garmadon’s whole arc at the end of tournament of elements. yknow when misako finds out about the letter. i feel like they didn’t really go into depth about RESOLVING that whole thing, like showing the repercussions and thoughts of all parties involved after the fact? how does this affect their family? i suppose misako and lloyd talked about it during day of the departed, kind of? but. my needy ass just goes “IT WASN’T ENOUGH.” really, i don’t really like character death or sacrifice as the resolution to a conflict or arc unless it’s done really well, and. is this supposed to feel unsatisfying?! because it is to me!!
yes. i know it’s a kids show. its super likely something's going over my head right now, but. it really made me think again because misako and garmadon didn’t really even talk after harumi revived his oni side, and especially after all the interactions lloyd and garmadon had during crystallized. seriously, someone rec me fics that explore misako and garmadon talking post tournament of elements please JDKWNFJSND. and really i didn’t hate the resolution of tournament of elements... this is my single major nitpick about it LOL
continuing with that thought, like. lloyd has lost his dad multiple times... this isn’t fair to him!!! give bro a break!!! (silly) (i know its fiction LOL) honestly why doesn’t he have WORSE trust issues after considering his mom and harumi and all the other people who’ve abandoned slash betrayed him?! and yeah misako really is the least terrible offender here, and i’m not blaming her— but ya can’t ignore that it DID affect him. this is why i was really excited for the prospect of a corruption arc for him during crystallized, however brief. he deserves it! let him destroy a few buildings, maybe kill a guy! let him fulfill his rise of the serpentine dreams, but for real this time! again REC ME FICS RAGHH
...though yes. i know he’s developed really far to the point he’d never hurt people like that, and tbh you could say he was never really evil in the first place but. you gotta understand that the corruption arc is one of my FAVORITE tropes. i’ll do anything for em... it’s my fatal flaw...
heck like. this is why i was really excited for the ice emperor because i KNEW that was zane the moment i saw him LMAO. he’s my favorite character how can i not tell. but in the end he just lost his memories and was being manipulated by some other bad guy... same thing goes for possession, lloyd wasn’t the bad guy, it was morro possessing him... its not the same </3 let them be lead astray even WITH their past memories and relationships and feelings... i need the angst... (you can tell im insane because im saying this about a lego show)
anyways point is. i like corruption arcs. and i WILL write fic about the ice emperor gaining more agency no matter how out of character and detached from the original message it is. (even sillier connotation)
okay thats the end of me nitpicking for now, i think. i mean i have a lot of qualms... esp about wu characterization in the new animation studio half, but. thats one thing i know that has been talked abt AT LENGTH. and idk if this is an unpopular opinion but i liked all da seasons for different reasons, they all appeal to my different happy little facets of media i enjoy :) im still fresh off of watching the show again for the first time in forever so this opinion will probably change, who knows.
really im just happy to have gone thru the whole main series! including wu's teas! not including dragons rising tho. ill get around to that after this. and maybe look into more production and behind the scenes stuff, and the games and supplementary content too. i love consuming content 🥰
anyway... uhm. can you tell zane is my favorite. because i said it explicitly some sentences ago. god he is so. ykwhat heres a screenshot bc i dont want to write this all out again

yea so um. im inserting akari into this because i insert her into everything LOL. current lore is that she wakes up in the monastery after getting her nose into something she shouldn’t (something related to uh. the skulkin or whatever. im figuring it out). she doesnt expect anyone to see her so waking up like that completely surprises her. takes place before the pilot :0c
blanking out wu's face bc i hate how it looks!!
anyways yea its super self indulgent and only for silly purposes, i dont wanna interact with anyone over this LOL.

i think the most interesting aspect of the way i drew zim is his hair... this is the disaster “just getting into invader zim how do i draw them” phase,,,, i tried to stick closer to canon here, but like. that doesn’t come off that well lmao
and this is when i took a break on drawing iz stuff in late 2019 and got back into it in 2020,,,
this entire era was also a disaster, i have no idea what that clump of hair is supposed to be!! another fun thing is dib’s hair... i drew it more “slicked back” before drawing him like i do now
oh hey!!! the start of the swirly hair era!! love this one lmao
that’s all the super recent stuff!! what a silly little guy
aaaaand my most recent doodles! i’ve tried... lifting up the swirl thing, if that makes sense? i’m trying to emulate his canon hair, but... again, it isn’t very effective haha

i know its cringe to like a camellia album this much but uufo is like. a culmination of a LOT of the things i like, and all of camellias experience leading up to that point yk.. and so much love and effort went into it from so many different people.. auuuughhh
every part of the album comes together... i LOVE albums with a theme and this one is PARANORMAL OCCURENCES and URBAN LEGENDS and shit ITS EVERYTHING I LOVE!! the different pieces of album art... ufo girl... wauuuu wauuuu cries sobs
idc if its uncritical and cringe to love every song i do what i want. i dont rly care abt if a song is structurally good as long as it makes me happy it goes hard (and all of them make me happy)

for the longest time buzzbox was my favorite song LOL. it was one of my first songs on the album and the russian bass/hardcore mix is just SO good. idk why i liked it so much honestly, its not rly what i LISTEN to yk. i have a fond memory of making my geometry teacher listen to it in 10th grade and she never let me pick a class song again. SHE LIKED EDM TOO I THOUGHT SHE'D GET IT </33
obviously ghoul is amazing. no notes. everyone loves that song.
OOPARTS IS A BONUS TRACK ON THIS ALBUM. OOPARTS. OF COURSE IT'S GOOD
speaking of the muzzle facing.. god idk. the melodic metal undertones. i LOVE a big variety in musical textures and this song just SCRATCHES my DAMN BRAIN. the part where it goes *metal guitar riff* *oingo boingo ass scratching noises* ANDJWJDJEJD IM NORMAL (at 1:37)
POLYBIUS GB IS SO GOOD. the way every section of the song builds on eachother AUGH. the final drop with the chiptune/extratone. CAMELLIA AND HIS EXTRATONEY FINAL DROPS ARE SO GOOD WAUUU WAAAA
a lot of what i feel abt polybius gb ALSO applies to final blenderman!!!! except final blenderman has WAYY more electric guitar YEAHHHH!! camellia final drops. the shift from rock guitar to chiptune melody, and an extratoneish finale,, reminds me a bit of million pp actually? haha. it miiiight be my favorite song? it outranked buzzbox a while ago but tbh this place might be slipping for like, the muzzle facing.
i actually didnt like myths you forgot as much as the other tracks when i first listened to it.. idk why? maybe bc it was a little slower? past me has no taste bc this track is so layered. and good. thanks toby fox
artcore is usually an "eh, its good" for me (i have a lot of artcore i enjoy, like fallen symphony) but #1f1e33 is different.. just felt like pointing it out (esp since this album has a longer version of it) like! i never felt BORED! every section builds! and has interesting auditory textures! lol. ig thats how u keep my attention (not that "being boring" is inherently bad ofc)
i have really fond memories of listening to microwave-proof cat in like, 10th/9th grade... sighh that song is so fun. the main melody's texture is just so bouncy. kisses it.
OKAY. DAMN. its 3. i need to go to bed. i'd love to continue rambling abt this though. maybe later.
as of right now my favorite camellia song (outside of this album) is parallel universe shifter :3c yeah, like, his most recent 7 minute song. of course its good. idk just.. it has all the things i like in it. i'd love to be able to one day make music like this song specifically. but point is, it has all of my favorite musical things.. in it. idk how to explain it. the name too. its super personal to me LOL. and the references and callbacks in the song. so tasty
ig another 8+ track edm album i like is also good evening hollowood... can you tell i love paranormal/halloween themed albums. JK LOL the songs in that album have nothing to do with that. while im talking abt t+pazolite i like ponko2 girlish too.. maybe ill dedicate a post to that if i get bored.

ok late night thoughts abt the New Season
rambly and not all that accurate cuz i watched it right before i went to sleep tonight (spoilers obviously)
THERES A LOT OF THINGS IM HAPPY ABOUT... and not a lot thats irking me right now :Vc ig i wouldve loved more interaction and screentime from certain characters, but its like 10 episodes so far so I get it LOL
theres also like the very modern slang and writing (if anyone knows what i mean) which is rly funny to compare to the early seasons ^_^ im personally fine w the writing/jokes (at least for now)
the new characters and the new screentime for some s1 characters is SO GOOD.

im glad we got more magic users (aka just one this season really) LOL i welcome magic and all its subtypes as a thing more prevalent in ninjago (especially after the merge)

this seasons Evil Faction and Overlooming Threat are alright.. wonder what elements the forbidden 5 even are :Vc (natural questions that will be answered) theyre fine. i have mixed and complicated opinions on them right now

EVERYONE wants jay to have more screentime. i was thinking abt how ely's infamously strict parents (/j) let them bleach their hair + their whole hair journey Q_Q ramble under cut
ok cuz the whole reason why ely has blond hair is BECAUSE they originally wanted to dye it a ton of fun colors. so they started bleaching it around when fallen star starts. and as the story progresses and they go through a couple bleaching sessions, they go "well actually now im not so sure :/ i like it just blond actually" AND THE REST IS HISTORY
it took ely a LOT of begging and convincing their parents to let them do it. mostly because their parents wanted to communicate with ely and make absolutely sure this was a thing they wanted to do as like, a 10 year old. they eventually fold, obviously.
i'm actually writing a blog post on my zaeadr fansite about their gender identity!! which is what made me start thinking about this cuz like, their hair is inherently tied to their identity, yea? i think... ill save the rest of that ramb for the actual blog post when i publish it :3c
