Note
I haven't seen any activists doing that and what I know of conservatives suggests to me that if they had I'd see it everywhere. in fact, most of the CPS narcing I've seen is right-coded (De Santis et al.). is this more of an offline thing
I don't put gender content in the same risk category as race content, and I don't consider it the primary issue at this time. (Industrial civilization can be run on 1970s social norms.) Once the race issue is cleared out, I'll have more room to maneuver on other issues with longer time horizons. (Gender relations can get worse than we thought - see South Korea.)
As such, the standard of evidence I'll be using here is lower, as I don't actively collect sources on this matter. Those seeking a more focused source should seek out Wesley Yang.
The Original Post
activists have moved on to supporting transitioning children behind parents' backs
School districts having policies of not reporting gender status to parents has been documented.
threatening to take the children away and throw them into the foster system if parents don't comply
With further research, I overstated this one. (A correction has been added to the original post.) Weighing "gender-affirming care" in child custody disputes is apparently being proposed for law in California, with a legislator in favor using 7-year-olds as an example.
It has not yet been established that they'll push to send the children into the foster care system.
while presenting to children that trans is morally better than cis
There's been some anecdotal reports, so I would have brushed this off if the surrounding norms were closer to 2010. However, presenting 'marginalized groups' as morally superior is the default Social Justice approach (think of "privilege walks," which are designed to shame people for their "privilege").
As such the anecdotal reports are more plausible than not at this time. I don't expect it to be widespread, but if it is taught in the Social Justice oppressor/oppressed model, then that is how it will be taught.
even though multiple European countries' health agencies have found that there is not enough evidence to justify childhood transition as anything more than an experimental measure
To quote city-journal,
Currently, minors in these countries can access puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones only if they meet strict eligibility requirements as set out in the Dutch protocol and only in the context of a tightly controlled research setting.
(A clarification has been added to the original post that this refers to cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers specifically.)
Ideological Considerations
According to my investigations, transgender people are not at a significantly higher risk of being murdered than cisgender people (nor does there appear to be any program of sterilization). This appears to be an ethnicity-like fear belief. There does not appear to be any sort of literal transgender genocide in the US, CA, UK, NZ, or EU.
There was a report of a single neo-nazi fraudulently distributing fake medical products, however, that constitutes the actions of a single criminal, not a "genocide."
Thus "trans genocide" appears to be leveraging high rates of s--cide to argue that refusing to affirm someone's stated gender identity is a deliberate move to kill them.
The influence of hormones over the course of development, from the womb to adulthood, is a plausible explanation for both alternative sexualities and transgenderism, and thus a good case for tolerance of both gender-atypical people and LGBT people, and for allowing consenting adults to take hormones and undergo surgical transition.
However, the balance of evidence does not appear to support that refusing to transition children is "killing" them, nor does it appear that transition is so effective that misgendering someone is "killing" them.
The closest condition would be the cutting off of regulated, medical-grade supplies to dependent adults (and not merely removal of subsidies, or refusal to subsidize). But the amount of misrepresentation has been extreme, so while I have seen hints of that, I can't trust that they aren't complete fabrications.
(And of course, illegally sending hormones to minors across state lines is exactly the sort of thing that would give politicians the political support to ban hormones in general.)
Myself
As someone who did in fact, have both dolls and little plastic army dudes as a child, who did feel separated or somewhat apart from my birth sex, and whose family was in some respects less strongly gendered than others (as I've said before, I was raised by engineers)...
Telling child me that I was transgender, and prohibiting any attempts to tell me I wasn't as "abusive" "conversion therapy," would not have been helpful to me.
I apparently have unusually powerful intuitive perception of ideological traps (and avoided Social Justice for the same reasons I avoided religion), but I'm not sure those abilities would have been powerful enough when I was literally seven.
Activists
However,
I haven't seen any activists doing that and what I know of conservatives suggests to me that if they had I'd see it everywhere.
One way that it's possible that the activists you know aren't the ones doing this is that it's possible that most of the people pushing this are not themselves trans. (Trans seems to have become a fashionable trend for a bunch of mothers declaring their 2-year-olds to be transgender.)
I used the term "activists" specifically to separate other transgender people from the broader complex of activist organizations and political operatives - which are either dependent on fundraising or elections, or whose sense of self-worth is tied into crusading, and thus who benefit from the creation of perceived moral emergencies which can be leveraged for demands of material, status, etc - with the intent of separating them from the moral liability for the activists.
Activists often don't listen to what actual members of a group say, and may be chosen by political interests specifically because they aren't representative.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I honestly can't think of anything major. Maybe killing my rosemary?

37. Who was the best new person you met?
All my various travel friends. Cydney gets a special mention.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2022:

"Send a postcard to my year eleven self, in her year eleven health, Saying everything's gonna be just fine, No you won't grow out of it, you will find the clothes that fit. Anthems August Newsletter
Tēnā koutou e te whānau and welcome to Anthem’s monthly update!
Following a month filled with many celebrations and successes for our clients and the team, we are all looking forward to putting away the winter coats and welcoming the warmer weather and longer days this spring.
We are very proud to be named a finalist in PRovoke Media’s 2023 Australasia PR Consultancies of the Year Award.
This month the team supported the Aged Care Association with its latest campaign ‘The Domino Effect’, and we hope that together with Chemistry our work can make a difference to improve the aged care sector crisis.
We had an energetic response to the refreshed V Green, continuing our work with Frucor Suntory to bring the lifted flavour to superfans across the country.
Anthem supported Batik Air as they touched down in Auckland, launching a new service flying between Auckland and Perth on the Boeing 737 MAX 8.
The team worked with our friends at New Zealand Story to shine a spotlight on Kono NZ, the world’s first Māori-owned wine business and a proud member of the FernMark Licence Programme.
Rounding out with Anthem life, this month we enjoyed an evening with a handful of our agile team members, a lunch out to celebrate two of our teams going above and beyond for Anthem’s clients, and welcomed our furry friends into the office for international dog day!
Aroha nui. Best wishes from the Anthem team
ANTHEM ANNOUNCED AS A FINALIST IN 2023 PROVOKE MEDIA AWARDS
Tumblr media
The Anthem team is over the moon to have been announced a finalist in PRovoke Media’s 2023 Australasia PR Consultancies of the Year Award. We are grateful to be the only solely New Zealand independent agency shortlisted in this category, and to stand alongside a stellar line up of trans-Tasman and Australian consultancies. Thank you to our talented team for their excellence and dedication, and to our clients for your trust and inspiring work which has allowed us to get here. The winners will be announced in late September, so fingers crossed!
THE DOMINO EFFECT OF UNDERFUNDING THE AGED CARE SECTOR
Tumblr media
This year Anthem has been supporting the New Zealand Aged Care Association with the launch of its new campaign ‘The Domino Effect’ which aims to raise awareness of the dire situation facing our aged care sector. The campaign, which we developed in partnership with creative agency Chemistry, shows aged care beds falling like dominoes to emphasise how the crisis affects every-day Kiwis - from families stepping in and providing care for their older parents, to the ongoing impact on our health workers who bear the brunt of the overwhelmed and underfunded system. The Aged Care Association is hoping ‘The Domino Effect’ will entice action to provide a sustainable funding model to ensure quality aged care can be provided for those that need it now, and in the future. As part of this work, Anthem Executive Director Sarah Geel spoke to the 500 delegates at the 2023 New Zealand Aged Care Association conference about the important role the sector has in championing the message to spread the Domino Effect.
BATIK AIR TOUCHES DOWN IN AUCKLAND
Tumblr media
We had our heads in the clouds this month helping to welcome a new player into the New Zealand aviation market, with the launch of Batik Air’s Auckland to Perth service.   The Malaysian airline is part of Indonesia’s Lion Air Group and operates the route six times a week, with further onward connections to Kuala Lumpur using a Boeing 737 MAX 8.   Interestingly, around 85,000 Kiwis live in Western Australia, and travel between Auckland and Perth is back to about 96% of pre-pandemic levels, higher than the overall return to international travel (77%).   The launch attracted lots of interest, including from Stuff and NZ Herald
V GREEN GETS A TASTELIFT
Tumblr media
Building on last month’s launch of Frucor Suntory’s refreshed V Green, we engaged a number of influencers and fans to spread the word on the smoother V Green, Kiwi’s favourite energy drink, following its flavour tastelift. Our team worked hard to make sure more fans were able to get their hands on the drink by delivering random drops to superfans.
THE FERNMARK LICENSEE LIVING BY A 500-YEAR PLAN
Tumblr media
Every month, Anthem works with New Zealand Story to spotlight a business involved with its FernMark Licence Programme.   We recently enjoyed speaking with Dan Taylor from Kono NZ, the world’s first Māori-owned wine business. Taylor discussed how Kono NZ is led by a 500-year intergenerational plan called Te Pae Tawhiti, which instils a unique focus on preserving and enhancing the taonga of the regions in which it operates.   Kono NZ is proud to carry the FernMark because it instils confidence in the global market about the quality of its products, and bolsters the traceability and authenticity of its Kono and Tohu wines.   Visit the New Zealand Story website to discover more about the FernMark Programme and Licensees and learn more about the mana behind Kono NZ.
ANTHEM LIFE
Meet our Agile Team
Tumblr media
We operate an agile team model at Anthem which means we enjoy working with a diverse range of specialists and communications professionals, who bring their individual skills and knowledge together to achieve specific, critical business outcomes for our clients. However, we don’t always get the chance to meet face-to-face.   Last week we welcomed a handful of members from our wider team to the office, to learn more about their varied careers and life experiences. To Sir Bob Harvey, Paul Hewlett, David Thomason, Louise Nicholson, and Georgina Bond, we loved having you here and hearing about your careers and past lives! To all our agile team, a huge thank you for bringing your specialist skills, industry expertise, diligence and enthusiasm to our table.
Celebrating International Dog Day 🐕
Tumblr media
Last but certainly not least, the Anthem team was sure to celebrate International Dog Day as a very important day in the month of August. We welcomed three furry friends, Rosie, Billie Waka and Kahu into the office, providing doggie donut treats for the dogs and dog-themed cookies for the team too of course! That's our wrap for the month!
Kia pai to rā from the Anthem Team

Wk3_Instudio task_redesign the NZ Birth Certificate.
I first tried to rearrange the elements on the original certificate for better visual balance.
The last three designs I went with an idea along the lines of the pepeha and way that Māori introduce past before present in introductions. I noticed on the original layout that the child was at the top of the page and parents followed - instead I thought that the parents and/or iwi/ancestry could come first and the child follow.
The only problem with those iterations comes for those who may not know their ancestry or have an iwi/hapu that they identify with. Same goes with those who may not have one of the parents at birth due to various reasons.
I think to expand on this, a range of different birth certificate formats could be made that accommodate different situations at birth i.e. presence of one or two parents/stillbirth or miscarriage (a way of recording the birth that gives identity to the child regardless of how far along they may have been carried)/cultural identity (different ways of acknowledging family) and more. Giving the parent(s) a chance to represent themselves and the child in the way they feel best fits them (like a customisable format).
I think this would also allow "not missing out" with having black spaces on your birth cert. because some categories don't apply to you and do to others.

Can I settle in New Zealand after study?
Tumblr media
The subject of “how to acquire PR in New Zealand from India?” is one among the most frequently asked ones concerning this nation. Students who stay in New Zealand can establish themselves in a place that is advantageous to them in terms of academics, culture, employment growth, and many other areas. To do this, consulting Arotic Visa one of the best visa consultant in Delhi is the option.
How long a post-study work visa is valid for?
The degree you earned in New Zealand will determine the duration of your Post Study Work Visa. You can work in New Zealand for three years if you earned a master’s or doctoral degree there and attended classes for at least 30 weeks.
Your work visa will be valid for the same period of time as your studies if you have a qualification at level 8 or lower. We will resolve this using your offer of a location. For instance, if the length of your study period is specified in your offer of a place, your visa will be valid for 32 weeks.
Your visa will not be extended if you drop a class or study for a longer period of time than what is specified on your offer of admission. We could ask your education provider for more details if the period of your studies actually differs from what was promised.
You can stay in New Zealand after completing your education in a few different ways.
1) A post-study work permit (Open)
Students who have recently finished their education and are looking for employment prospects can choose this option. With this visa, you are permitted to stay in a nation for a year while searching for employment in your area of study or research. Additionally, you might hunt for other sources of income in any industry to support your stay in New Zealand.
2) Visa for Post-Study Employment (Employer Assisted)
Students have the opportunity to work for a specific employer while they are on this visa. Make sure to submit your application for this visa three months before your student visa expires.
Indian Students’ Permanent Residency in New Zealand
If you want to obtain permanent residency in New Zealand after completing your studies, you can review the visa categories listed below and select the one that best fits your qualifications. Arotic Visa can help you in suggesting the best options as we are one of the reputed study visa consultants in Delhi
Category of Skilled Migrant Visa
One of the best routes for aspiring students is to submit an expression of interest (EOI). Within a few weeks, NZ immigration will notify you if your EOI is accepted. After completing the EOI portion, you must submit the residence application and include all required documentation.
Visa Type 2 for Families
You may apply for a Family category visa for permanent residency if your spouse/partner or parent is a permanent resident or citizen of New Zealand.
3. Visa for Business and Investment
You can apply under the Investor category if you intend to invest in New Zealand. Another choice is the Entrepreneur category, which requires you to start your own company in New Zealand.
How do we proceed?
It would be advisable for you to ask for our advice at Arotic visa as we are one of the best Visa Consultants in Delhi in this regard. Reach out to us, one of the best study visa consultants right now.

2022
Here we go again!
1. What did you do in 2022 that you’d never done before?
Paddle the Whanganui River, finish a degree, get Covid, keep plants alive for over a year, knit a sock, hire an employee.
2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Nah, still don’t really do those.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yep. One close friend, and one other friend, as well as several acquaintances. Living that early 30s life...
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nobody close, but several friends lost parents this year.
5. What countries did you visit?
Just around NZ. Hopefully next year, now that the borders are open again!
6. What would you like to have in 2023 that you lacked in 2022?
I’m hoping by the end of the year to have a place of my own. Maybe even one where I’m paying my own mortgage, rather than someone else’s?
7. What dates from 2022 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Whanganui River, Pukawa trip, Vanessa and Alister’s wedding, Milford Trip, Caitlin’s visit, Rakuira trip, Wellyfest, probably other stuff. Basically all the lovely travel away with friends.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finishing a degree in Youth Development, definitely! With straight A+s to boot.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I don’t think I had any super major ones this year, which is really nice. Probably some work stuff around people management and communications of responsibilities.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Got Covid after the Milford trip. It was highly shit and I was down for two weeks, and still recovering for a further three months. 0/10, would not recommend.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Travel and rips away with friends. A new tramping pack. Some lovely artwork.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
I don’t know. I always find this question really hard. Most people deserve to be celebrated?
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
I also always find this one hard. A few of our ex-volunteers, Putin, and the general awful that is alt-right assholes.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Food, rent, travel, and the dentist.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Caitlin visiting. Also travel stuff, friends’ wedding, Jenny Mitchell concerts, and Vanessa starting at work
16. What song will always remind you of 2022?
I’m really not sure this year. Maybe Tug of War, by Jenny Mitchell
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier
b) thinner or fatter? Oh, definitely fatter
c) richer or poorer? Richer
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Going for walks outside, reaching out to friends
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Buying takeaways
20. How did you spend Christmas?
The usual combination of family and family friends. Lunch at family friends’ place, then an assortment of people over for dinner at my parents’ place.
21. Did you fall in love in 2022?
Nah
22. How many one-night stands?
Technically none, but maybe kind of one.
23. What was your favourite TV program?
Buffy. Binge watched it all for the first time, and can’t believe it took me so long!
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Not really. I don’t really do hating people, and those that would otherwise fall into the category aren’t worth my brain space.
25. What was the best book you read?
Bonk - the curious coupling of sex and science, by Mary Roach
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I feel like I’ve done a lot of listening to new albums from artists I already know and like this year. Maddie Poppe?
27. What did you want and get?
A degree, a bit more free time, several good adventures.
28. What did you want and not get?
Jeans that fit right
29. What was your favourite film of this year?
I haven’t really watched many movies once again. Onward?
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Turned 31. Went to work and had dinner with my family.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Sorting out my stuff enough to be a bit further along the house buying journey? I think overall it’s been a pretty solid year for the most part, though.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2022?
Jeans, leggings, t-shirts, and a fair bit of plaid. Comfortable and clean clothes are still my go-to here, and really doesn’t change on a year-to-year basis.
33. What kept you sane?
Music, podcasts, friends, colleagues, monthly supervision sessions, naps.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I don’t think I can even name someone for this one...
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Probably the war in Ukraine.
36. Who did you miss?
Caitlin remains top of the list. Ireland is very far away.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
Marlene and Udit, I think
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2022:
Trusting others’ assumptions about the priority level of different projects is not the same as confirming them with the whole team, and it’s really a lot better to be sure of this sooner, rather than at the last minute.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
“It’s just the way that it goes // sometimes the world feels awful slow // and it’s just the way that it is // we all go fishing, ‘til we’re sick of fish // and it don’t make no sense // we all dream of the green over that fence // but it comforts me to know // that it’s just the way it goes.” - Lucy, Jenny Mitchell
