reclaimed wood and recycled bicycle parts and a #palletclock is born... a whole lot of hard work and love went into this one, the #fsa #fullspeedahead chainring says it all. it’s always such a production working with wood because everything is geared to working with and cleaning bicycle parts. i have to make sure there’s no bike grease hiding anywhere, setup the saw and the sander, the extension cords, the light... like i said, it’s a production. so it makes sense to make a few of whatever i’m working on. and normally i don’t even think about it, if i’m making one, i’m making 5 or 10. easy peazy. but it’s been such an odd year for my little etsy shop. orders just haven’t been as strong as they usually are at this time of year. changes at etsy, i took some time off and lost my google ranking, the economy, who knows... sometimes we don’t know what went wrong, just like there are times when we don’t know what went right. sometimes it just is what it is and we never know the why. so before i started cutting and glueing and sanding i thought, is this a waste of time? a waste of wood and glue and screws and bandaids? have i had my day in the sun and now it’s over? and then it happened. i saw that full speed ahead logo on that chainring and i thought about the feeling you get when you’re at a crossroads in life. do you continue on, or turn back. when you’ve just started up the alpe d’huez in #zwift and you’ve already got 60 miles under your belt for the day and you think, “do i really have it in me today? can i do this?” and somewhere deep down you find the strength to keep going. head down, heart full, you. just. keep. at. it. so i realized sometimes you just have to go on faith. faith in what will happen, faith in what could happen. really, faith in yourself. a “if i build it they will come” kind of thing. i have to believe, it’s just who i am. so by the end of the day i’d finished this pallet clock, and 10 more. it’s a pretty good feeling too. hope, that is. so here’s to never giving up. never giving in. never saying die. dream great dreams, saving the planet one clock at a time. #whoswithme (at Beaverton, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqBO-D8jduH/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1q7uwt3stjcqt
