ANOMALOCARIS MOODBOARD 😍😍
Tumblr media
One down, three to go. Anomalocaris :)))) I REALLY hope there is someone out there with an anomalocaris theriotype, it would make me so happy. Anomalocaris were Cambrian (520–499 million years ago) age arthropods. The largest fossil every found reached 1 meter/3 feet long, some think it could have reached 2 meters /6 feet in length. It is also a generally accepted theory that they were carnivorous, and their silly face arms were used to snatch other animals for eating.

Craving some good ol’ meaty chicken legs. To eat and to have as my own. Thick, strong, speedy bois to hold up this body o’ mine. And to also sink my giant sharp ass teeth into.
To conclude… Chicken Legs.
fried… fried chicken legs…
Man, I’m so hungry now.

8 and 9 for the therian asks
8. For you, what is the hardest part about being a therian/otherkin?
For me, I would say there are two hardest parts: the horrible feeling of wrongness in this body, and the feeling that I am leading a double life.
The first, the feeling of wrongness, it always strikes at the most unusual and mundane times. I'll be walking down the street and catch the faintest whiff of a smell I can't quite place, and then suddenly be assaulted by the feeling that my senses have been torn from me. I should be able to smell *everything* - the individual scents of every person I pass and what they ate, the closest tree, the contents of every person's bag, the location of the squirrel in the park; I'm meant to have access to all of this, but its just gone.
I feel similar about how deaf I am in this body, and how slow I am on these spindly two legs, how weak my jaws are, and how dull my teeth. How cold my furless skin gets, and how alone and trapped I am in human responsibilities. I feel like the life I am leading is wrong, and it gets to me sometimes.
As for the double life, I am generally a pretty open person, so the fact that I have to separate my "alterhuman life" as Kanika, and my "normal life" as my true name just makes me feel odd. I know I'm not, but it makes me feel like I'm lying about something. I want to tell the people in my life about this huge part of myself that I am hiding so badly, but I know the majority of them wouldn't understand, and that it would likely cause more harm than good.
9. Does your therianthropy/otherkinity greatly affect your life choices in any way? (Example: Moving to a new place because its similar to the natural habitat of your kintype)
Oh for sure! I integrate my alterhumanity into my life as much as possible. At the moment I live in Texas, but I 100% plan on moving to a more Yukon wolf friendly environment as soon as I am out of college.
On the topic of college, my animality also effects my choices of study and work. At the moment I am pursuing a degree in wildlife biology, and am doing research on minimizing conflict between humans and large predators, mostly wolves. A lot of my passion for this comes from the fact that I am a wolf, so of course I want to spend time out in the wild with the wild life, and of course I want to save my fellow wolves from being treated as pests. I view my being a wolf in a human body as a great opportunity for me to make a change for the better for my kind, an opportunity that I would never have if I was in the body of a wolf. (Yes, I know thats kind of cheesy, but it makes me feel better)
My animality also effects plenty of little decisions I make, like focusing on endurance and cardio workouts because they make me feel physically capable in a way similar to wolves, or trying to stick to a paleo diet because its both healthy and reminds me of what would be on the menu for a wolf.
Overall, I do my best to blend my animality nicely into my human life at every opportunity, and it has done a lot of good for me I think. I feel that since I have started doing this, I have been living much more authentically.

I fucking HATE not being able to just go out and see one of my main theriotypes (the Tyrannosaurus rex), even in a zoo. Like- I just have to go off vibes and I just have to have what media I actually like relating to it. Like- I have prehistoric planet and that's pretty much it. I love it a lot because there are NO people in the show and they don't effect anything in that setting, and the Tyrannosaurus looks JUST LIKE ME!! But- that's it. Nothing else looks like me and Prehistoric planet is the only thing that doesn't portray them as scaly tanks on steroids. Like RAAAGGHHHHHH just let it be a creature!!

Just saw your anomalocaris mood board and loved it so could you make an archaeopteryx one?
Tumblr media
Finally done! All fossils of archaeopteryx have been found in southern Germany, which was much closer to the equator during the time they lived. On average, they were about the size of a eurasian magpie, though some have been found to be as large as a raven. I tried to include a few different versions of what people speculate they looked like, since it has changed over time.
