ㅤalthough taken by surprise when annie holds a neatly wrapped taco from one of the nearby food trucks out toward them, byan doesn't bother to ask if she's sure or if this is some sort of mistake. instead, with only a flicker of hesitation within their movements, they reach out and accept the offering, a keen glint in their eyes.

ㅤㅤ" always wanted t' try this place. "ㅤgaze fixated on the food in their hands, they peel at the wrapper almost delicately without bothering to explain why the opportunity has never arisen prior to this moment. (it's the money, of course; isn't it always? that, and the fact that a food truck is a lot harder to steal from than a big chain restaurant.) god, but it looks good though; the golden shell with all the savoury meat and toppings tucked inside... byan can't help but admire the thing for a moment, even as their stomach grumbles an unquestionably hungry note. the second they catch a whiff of it though, there's no waiting any longer — they're lunging forth and shoving the taco into their mouth with an odd sort of aggression that gives the impression they'll bite any hand that comes too close in order to defend this meal.

ㅤㅤ" ohmuhgod, "ㅤsatisfied words mushed together into one around a mouthful of delicious taco, byan's eyes close over in a very dramatic display of their enjoyment.ㅤ" so spicy. "ㅤit's evident in their (admittedly muffled) inflection that this is a good thing, and they nod along with an enthusiastic rhythm while they chew. clearly, they can trust annie's choices in mexican food from this point onward; she doesn't go for that mild shit.

any other comments they have on the food go forgotten as they dive in for another bite, and expressing their gratitude over kind gestures hasn't been their style since they were much younger — regardless of how much they do, in fact, appreciate the act. instead, they take to a comfortable silence, continuing to devour their spicy treat like they're trying to finish it in record time. this is something they'll remember though, this generosity provided to them despite the very rocky start between the two of them. it's a hand extended, a tentative offer of potential friendship which mirrors that of their suggestion of getting nachos together, and it is not insignificant. ...even if they might prefer to have annie believe that they don't see it as any big deal.
