Jill shivered, as she shut the apartment window. It was getting closer to December, so the weather had certainly dropped a lot. The woman turned, to see Leon laying down in the bed. The night had been rough to say the least. She hadn’t slept much, taking care to watch over the other during the night. It was usually around this time of the year that the other caught a terrible cold. It didn’t help matters that he drank as much as he did. She’d never lecture him, though, unless it was needed. Gentle footsteps walked towards the bathroom, she leaned against the sink. Jill face slowly looked up to see dark circles under her eyes.
To put it bluntly, she got worried anytime Lee got this sick, it was hard to watch, but she wouldn’t want to be anywhere else right now. The woman ears perked up, as she heard a cellphone ringing. Quickly wetting a wash cloth, she went back into the bedroom. Leaning over, she grabbed Leon’s phone off the nightstand. Taking a glance, she instantly recognized the number as Hunnigan’s. Jill placed the cold rag against Leon head before taking the phone into the other room.

“Hey Hunnigan. Yeah, I was about to call you, but Leon can’t come into work today. He isn’t feeling the best and needs a day to rest.” spoke Jill softly, trying very hard not to disturb Leon. The last she wanted was the other trying to force himself to go in to his job. The two of them were honestly worked until their bodies would almost give out. Not that they really wanted to, but sadly someone had to. It was a miracle, she managed to get the man to rest. Something he hardly ever had time to do lately. Which did nothing but cause Jill anxiety to spike through the roof. She trusted him to know his limits, but sometimes it was hard not to want to tell Leon to take a day for himself. Although, could she say that it was any easier with her either.
Hanging up the phone, she placed it in her pocket before heading into the kitchen. A warm scent was coming from the stove, as the brunette was putting together a nice hot soap. Hopefully, Leon could eat a little bit. Even if it wasn’t much, the important thing was he ate something. At least for today she would make sure he was eating things sick people should. Jill’s hand grabbed onto the counter, vision a bit blurry as she turned the stove off. It was done, which meant she could try to get Leon to wake up briefly to eat a little bit.
Carefully, the woman walked back into the bedroom to see Leon sitting up against the headboard. He certainly looked out of it, but a little more conscious than he had been last night. It gave her a fright when he suddenly called out of the blue and ended up on her doorstep. They had planned to go out last night for a date, but that was the last of her worries. The second he arrived, she could see his eyes were way darker than usually. Which meant he was about to pass out horribly. Thankfully, she caught him quickly and got him to the bed to rest. He had left some extra clothes here before, so there was stuff for him to change into.
“Morning sleepy head. I made you some soup. Hopefully, it’s something you’ll eat. If not, I can hop back into the kitchen, to make something. I know you probably aren’t up for a lot right now, but something light does help.”
Gently, Jill placed the tray across his lap, sitting on the edge of the bed. Her hand reached over to touch his forehead. It was hot to the touch, but that was to be expected. The cold was working it’s way out of his body slowly. Which meant rest was what he needed most right now. Her eyes drifted down to see his hand shaking a bit. This was so hard on him, and she knew it, too.
The brunette grabbed his hand, rising up to the side of her face. Leon seemed hesitant to, probably afraid he might make her sick. Which Jill didn’t mind if he did, this was something she wanted to do. To support him through times like this, too.
“Work called. I told them you need the day off to rest. I know you would probably try to argue with me about it. However, I know for a fact you’ve been working long hours for months. It might be why you are partly sick too.”
It wasn’t like anyone ever got to see this side of Leon, it was something he tried to keep under wraps. Not only that, but it was probably a sign of weakness to him. That somehow if the wrong people saw him in this state, that it would only make things worse. He always tried to remain so strong despite everything. It was one of the many things she loved about the other.
Leaning over, she pressed her lips to his forehead, hand intertwining with his before pressing her forehead against his own. Eyes closed, as she tried to hide the fact she had been up all night watching over him. It scared her how hard his breathing had been. The seconds it had taken the other to almost fall face first at her door. It was hard and broke her heart to feel so helpless.

“I love you..I know you hate getting like this, but it’s me. You can rest right now. I promise that I will take care of you.”
Jill wasn’t sure how much Leon even remembered from last night, if he could recall how bad it had been the second he met her eyes. The woman eyes widening seeing him fall forward, as her arms caught him against her chest. A slight panic filling the usual calm tone to her voice. There was only one other time she had been like this. When her grandmother got sick years ago, and that was when she was a child. Thinking back on it, maybe that was one of the things that scared her. The moment, she could feel Leon’s body go weak. To see someone that had always put on this strong front collapse. He always pushed himself so much, and how did the world repay him..by taking more.
“Leon, I promise this doesn’t make me see you any differently.” Jill wasn’t sure why she had said that, possibly to reassure him that even in this state she cared. That nothing was going to drive her away. It was something her heart seemed to want to say to Leon. To express that she would care for him when no one else would.
