Obiyuki madness kitty present

It’s only been . . . 9 months or so, but at last I have delivered @ccprovolomies my favor owed. Since we couldn’t work out either of the favors I originally offered, she agreed to a third option - a bound fanfic.

Since she is a sweetheart, she asked for one of mine. She, in fact, gave me a choice of two. So I did both.

This book is case-bound, quarto legal size (about 7″ tall by 4.25″ wide) on cream Staples paper. The headbands are hand-sewn with topstitching thread. What makes this book particularly unusual is that it’s a tete-beche binding. That means both covers are the front.

On one side, it’s The Most Versatile of Guards. Flip it over, and the other direction is Yours, Truly.

This is the first time I’ve put titles on a book that I’m actually happy with, and it was fun to put together. I need to make one for myself now.

As a bonus, since it felt a bit weird giving another author a bound copy of my own work as a present, I made a little tiny book of her Lost and Found too. This one is a single section Bradel binding (the first one I’d tried) printed on a single sheet of legal paper and bound with leftover homemade bookcloth from another project. It’s a little wonky but cute, and she’s very forgiving.
