An exclusive interview with head scientist of Numen Wight Laboratories, Nathan Hallow
[Tape starts]
Collins: Hello. This is reporter Kathy Collins of Science Journal, here with one of the head scientists of Numen Wight Laboratories, Dr. Nathan Hallow.
Hallow: Hello, Kathy. It's nice to be here.
Collins: Thank you for taking the time for this interview. Our listeners are already familiar with Numen Wight Labs and the incredible scientific advancements you've made, so lets cut to the chase. How do you guys do it?
Hallow: [laughs] Well, Mr. Wight was a successful man even before the Laboratory's founding. He's provided us with plenty of funding for our research, moreso than the average research facility. That, and our drive to learn more about the world, help us reach new frontiers.
Collins: Absolutely! In just ten years, your botany research has helped increase crop quality on half the amount of farmland, your robotics department have created some of the most realistic and high-quality prosthetics, all easily accessible for public use.
Hallow: You flatter us, Ms Collins.
Collins: Well, I think speak for everyone when I say your work is nothing short of incredible. Now - [papers rustle] - your paranormal department in particular has a lot of people very interested. There's word you've been collaborating with Felix Finchley, is there any truth to these rumours?
Hallow: Ha, oh no. It'd be an honour to work with Mr. Finchley, but I think we all know it'd be easier to get in touch with a ghost than with him. But I can't answer many questions about our paranormal department, a lot of that information is currently classified. I hope you understand.
Collins: Of course, I understand. Back to your botany department... has there been any progress in the gene-splicing experiments first discussed back in '83?
Hallow: Well... [silence] ...not much yet. It's a delicate process, and hard to keep unfamiliar genes stable when bonded. Our experiments so far have been inconclusive.
Collins: Do you think there'll be progress made any time soon?
Hallow: I hope so. Flora can be far stronger and more resilient than we give it credit for. It can break through concrete, survive the harshest conditions, some can even grow upside-down! We hope to harness and to refine those strengths.
Collins: Fascinating.
[silence]
Hallow: ...Do you have any further questions?
Collins: Perhaps you can tell us about the disappearances.
Hallow: Disappearances?
Collins: You must've heard of them. I've been keeping track, over the past four years at least nineteen people have gone missing, all last seen in the vicinity of Numen Wi-
Hallows: -That's enough, Miss Collins. These disappearances, although tragic, have no connection with Numen Wight Laboratories. I will not continue this interview if you continue to slander us.
Collins: My colleague, Trinity Harper, she was last seen here-!
Hallows: [sounds of a chair clattering] This interview is over!

Name: Orange Blossom Age: 9 Construction date: 12/06/2062 Gender: Genderless Pronouns: They/Them Species: Clockwork construct Place of Origin: Numen Wight Laboratories
One of the first fully functional constructs. Designed for dancing and entertainment, Orange Blossom is considered high-end, state of the art technology, using a reusable power source in clockwork mechanisms. What their creators didn't know when constructing them, however, was that they had actually created life.

Name: N.I.C.C.I Age: 10 Activation date: 13/05/2085 Gender: Genderless Pronouns: She/Her Species: Android Place of Origin: Numen Wight Laborotories
One of a batch of highly advanced androids made by Numen Wight Labs, sold to large business as a data interface for their software systems. Although many androids are still looked down upon by humans, N.I.C.C.I is quite respected amongst her coworkers. Efficient and practical, she also has a surprisingly sharp sense of humour for an android.

Name: Wys Age: 6 Birthdate: 25/03/1990 Gender: Genderless Pronouns: He/She Species: Wisteria-Human hybrid Place of Origin: Numen Wight Laboratories
Numen Wight Labs' actual first successful flora/fauna splicing experiment, no doubt thanks to selecting a non-carnivorous plant to provide the flora cells. Wys is an incredibly gentle soul, with a fondness for butterflies, bees and other pollinators. He's the most popular of the three subjects amongst the scientists, for obvious reasons. However, neither Venus nor Mary are particularly fond of her, and they make this distaste known regularly. Wys doesn't seem too bothered by their opinion of him, more bothered by their tendency to try and eat the hummingbirds that occasionally visit her.

Name: Mary Age: 8 Birthdate: 12/09/1988 Gender: Genderless Pronouns: She/Her Species: Pitcher plant-Human hybrid Place of Origin: Numen Wight Laboratories
The second "successful" flora/fauna splicing by Numen Wight Labs, Mary was initially considered an improvement over Venus due to her slightly more humanlike appearance and initially placid demeanour. However it wasn't long before she proved to share her predecessor's appetite for human flesh, devouring an intern during a vitals check. She was moved to the greenhouse alongside Venus, where the two quickly began to butt heads. Although completely blind, Mary is very adept at detecting where others are, although she doesn't let this on to the scientists. Several more interns have gone missing due to underestimating her.

Name: Venus Age: 9 Birthdate: 01/05/1987 Gender: Genderless Pronouns: They/Them Species: Venus Flytrap-Human hybrid Place of Origin: Numen Wight Laboratories
When Numen Wight Labs began experimentations with hybridising flora and fauna, very few scientists actually expected it to work. After several unsuccessful tests, and a lot of literal and figurative blood on their hands, one subject finally showed both stable vitals and signs of sapience. This subject was uncreatively named Venus. The newly-named Venus promptly went on a rampage, killing and eating at least two scientists and injuring several others. Despite this, the botanical team considered the experiment a success. Venus was moved to the greenhouse for further studies. Since their initial violent outburst Venus displays a calmer and almost charismatic persona, although this is simply a ploy to lure in unsuspecting victims.

✨ Welcome to the Paranaturaverse! ✨
A universe where folklore, myths, urban legends and everything inbetween is reality. Across two timelines, two planets, multiple dimensions and outside the universe, many stories from throughout history are ready to be told.
Aliens, both hostile and harmless, make their way to Earth. Humans are genetically altered to grant them unnatural abilities, a gross mimicry of naturally-existing psychics. Fantastical beings and fae lurk in the forests, strange interdimensional beings flicker in and out of reality. A woman makes a choice that will split reality in two, and gods oversee all.
///////////////
Notable races
Humans: The most common sapient race on Earth. Two subspecies include Psi-Humans, humans born with psychic abilities, and Phenomenals, humans whose already irregular genetic makeup has been scientifically enhanced.
Calcaniums: A empirical race of planet-conquering aliens from the Andromeda Galaxy. Originally from their home planet Calcania, their colonisation spreads throughout the galaxy, and they now have their sights set on the Milky Way.
Doggerlandians: Amphibious, finned humanoids who live in the North Sea. Typically asocial and wary of humans, they keep to themselves, although some sightings (and even attacks) have been reported. Often mistaken for mermaids in previous decades, recent theories hypothesise they were once humans that rapidly evolved to adapt in the now-sunken Doggerland.
Faefolk: An umbrella term for a wide variety of otherworldly creatures, such as elves, baobhan sith, changelings, irissids, and sprites. Although many reside in the human realm rather than Arcadia, they often keep out of sight from people. Some are benevolent, others malevolent.
///////////////
Notable locations
Bronze Bay: A seaside town in California, USA, named for the copper deposits that give the beaches a rich, rusty colour. Founded in the 1800s and formerly a mining town for the aforementioned copper, the town records claim giant lizards once roamed the deserts on the town outskirts.
Tag: #bronze bay
Ravenswood: A rural town in Kent, England, famous for the many supernatural rumours surrounding it. Home to an ancient forest that, if entered, you'll never leave quite the same way.
Tag: #ravenswood
Calcania: The home planet of the warmongering Calcanium race, located in the Andromeda Galaxy. The seat of the Almighty Leaders, they oversee their expanding empire, and crush all that stand in their way.
Tags: #calcaniums #calcania
Arcadia: The realm of the faefolk. At least three kingdoms are located in this realm; Rhyneris, the Seelie Court, and Unseelie Court. The prince of the Sun Elves attempts to make peace with the Moon Elves, whilst the two queens of Rhyneris attempt to co-exist with the fragmented aspects of their former god.

Numen Wight Laboratories: The biggest and most advanced laboratory in America, named after its founder. It has branches covering genetic engineering, robotics and curiously, paranormal studies. Rumours surround the company regarding unethical experimentations, but the current owners and employees deny any such knowledge. And anyone who goes snooping in the greenhouse never comes back out.

Dead Town
A town in Colorado inhabited by crude copies of humans and the living dead, sealed off from the outside world. The Imitations rule the ruined town lawlessly, whilst Ghouls roam the streets seeking flesh to eat.

There is no set posting schedule (at least currently), mainly as posts are made as the project is developed and much as I love this universe, I have both other hobbies and work to attend to as well.
Posts that are not related to stories, timelines, art or characters will be posted under the tag "behind the scenes", this includes posts discussing the inspiration behind a character. All posts related to canon will be posted with relevant tags.

Name: The Traveller Age: ??? Birthdate: Presumably sometime before 1963 Gender: ??? Pronouns: They/Them Species: ??? Place of Origin: Numen Wight Labs
The result of Numen Wight Laboratories' most unethical and horrific experiment. In 1963, an anonymous tester was subjected to an experiment in trans-dimensional travel, funded by the United States Government. Whilst technically a success, it came at the cost of this test subject's identity and humanity. All known records of this person were deemed classified and destroyed, as if they had never existed. Drifting aimlessly between dimensions, appearing in many different time periods and timelines with no control over where they visit, anything human that once resided inside the spacesuit has long since withered away. Only this poor traveller's soul remains, trapped in a paradoxical existence wandering without memory or purpose.
