I've found myself saying "I haven't heard that song/artist/album" quite a lot recently sooooo I was thinking that maybe if people wanted to send me ideas or recommendations of songs or albums then I could listen and give my thoughts. If that's something you might be interested in, my ask box is open!

Thoughts on Maren’s new song called The Bridge?
When I searched for The Bridge, I got 2 songs so I listened to those. If there's an actual song by that name, it's not showing up for me.
However, I really liked The Tree and can imagine it being a good car song.
I LOVED Get the Hell Out of Here - it sounds like it should be aggressive, but it's really soft and reflective.
Thanks for asking and prompting me to find it!

artists you like which aren't Taylor?
Sorry anon, I think this was sent a few days ago.
I love a few Scottish bands like Deacon Blue, Del Amitri and Texas. Plus people like Ed Sheeran, Maisie Peters, One Republic, The Script, P!nk, Daughtry, Picture This.
I'm always happy to listen to recommended artists too if you have any suggestions. I've responded to a few of those with the tag: notesonnewmusic

Holly Humberstone
I'd never heard of Holly, and the anon that recommended her didn't name any specific songs, so I chose the top 5 songs that came up when I searched for her.
The Walls Are Way Too Thin - I liked the sound of this. I probably need to listen again to figure out exactly what it's about, maybe about trying to put up a wall between you and someone else, but discovering that it's not thick enough to block out what they're doing.
London is Lonely - This reminded me of another song (maybe Last December by Nina Nesbitt) in the sound and the delivery of the lyrics. I liked this one. It's probably going to go on my nice, easy listening playlist.
Seventeen Going Under (Acoustic) (with Sam Fender) - This was an interesting duet because they traded lines right from the start rather than having a verse each like you often hear. I'd never heard Sam before so that was a bonus - I like you can hear his Geordie accent in his singing. The song wasn't an immediate favourite, but I'll listen again. I'd also like to hear the original to see how it compares.
Falling Asleep At The Wheel - This one had more beat to it, but it felt more repetitive than the others. Less of a favourite - maybe not one to listen to while driving! I guess it's talking about having someone try to jolt you out of sleepwalking through life - made me think of Jesus Take the Wheel.
Scarlett - The "we go together like bad British weather and the one day I have plans" made me laugh - it's so relateable! I liked this one - it had a good beat.
I think I'll probably look into more of Holly's music. I liked these 5 overall so maybe I'll go for an album next time rather than a selection from different releases. Might see what else Sam Fender has too!
Top track: London is Lonely

music rec if you haven’t listened to maisie peters please do! I love her album you signed up for this, but her song glowing review is one of my favorites! Also he shorter eps have some fun songs!
Oh, I love her first album and the other songs she released. Waiting (im)patiently on her second album! I saw her supporting Ed last summer and I thoroughly enjoyed it. She deserves to be bigger!
I love Talking to Strangers and John Hughes Movie.
Thank you for the rec though, I love it!

Emilie Autumn
I'd never heard of Emilie and no idea of what to expect. The songs that anon recommended were Heard It All, Second Hand Faith, Across the Sky, and If You Feel Better. I also added Fight Like a Girl because it was top of the song list so I figured it was a popular one.
Heard It All - might be a good one for the running playlist! I don't think I'd listen otherwise though. A bit rock-y for me.
Second Hand Faith - This had a very show vibe to me (I'm not sure that's the right phrase), but I felt like I could watch people dance to it.
Across the Sky - I wasn't sure about the start of this one, but the rest of it turned into my favourite of these tracks and the one I'd probably listen to as part of a larger playlist.
If You Feel Better - Had a similar vibe to Second Hand Faith for me. I didn't dislike it, but probably wouldn't listen again.
Fight Like a Girl - This one was the opposite for me than Across the Sky. I thought I'd really like it at the start, but ended up not enjoying it so much. I did like the line about "I'd get my revenge on the world, or at least 49% of the people in it". I just wasn't keen on the vocals.
I might revisit when I'm in the car ... although the fast beat may encourage speeding!

Amy Shark: Only Wanna Be With You & Everybody Rise
I enjoyed both of these songs and I'll definitely check out more of her music. Of the 2, I think Only Wanna Be With You was my favourite, but I think Everybody Rise may also be a good one for a car playlist!
Anon, I see the theme parallels with Gold Rush in Everybody Rise (and Gorgeous too, to an extent - that admiring from a distance and day-dreaming that they're yours!)

dire straits perfect mandela on youtube
:)
youtube
I know a few Dire Straits songs - this reminded me of a couple I'd forgotten though - I don't know how because they're iconic songs and I used to listen to them regularly in the car!
What a cool set! The intro being by Billy Connolly is a cherry on top!
I must confess that some of the instrumental breaks were a bit long for me, but other than that, I loved it. Thanks for sending it to me :)

I heard Ariana’s new song today and it’s okay it sounds outdated tho and the instrumental and feel kinda has the same vibe as Rain on Me. I think Max Martin has lost his magic touch. No wonder Taylor doesn’t with him anymore
I think Rain on Me is the only song with Ariana that I've purposely listened to ... and I didn't realise it was her tbh, I was listening to Lady Gaga. I went to listen to Yes, and? and the sounds at the start really grate on my nerves. The rest of it wouldn't inspire me to relisten or to listen to more of her stuff tbh. I think I agree with her message in the lyrics though - people have far too much to say about other people's business!
I think there are various reasons that Taylor doesn't work with Max Martin anymore.

What do you think of Griff's song Vertigo?
I hadn't actually listened, but I really liked it and I've stuck it on my playlist. The style of parts of it reminds me of another song - not in a copyright infringing type of way, just kind of similar in a way that tickles your brain. It's really gonna bother me though!
Accepting submissions of songs that it makes other people think of in the hope that someone chances upon it! Pretty sure it's not a Taylor song, in fact, maybe a male singer. Not sure.
